Personal Description:
I am a 31-year-old Italian mother tongue. I work as a freelance translator and interpreter, my work languages are Italian, English and Spanish. I am also teaching Italian to English speakers (grammar, advanced conversation, group and one-to-one classes).

Teaching Experience:

4yrs+ - groups and one-to-one tutoring. Mainly English speakers a different levels.
Teacher at FLC @ Exeter University
Cactus Language Teacher
Private tutor for individuals, uni students and groups.
Running a translation and interpreting small but thriving agency in London.

Tutoring Approach:

My strong linguistic background (Italian, Spanish, French, English and Japanese, which I am currently learning) makes me able to fully manage learning processes and techniques and adapt them to each student. My deep knowledge of my mother-tongue grammar and style lets me develop topics easily and focus on individuals' skills and tackle their learning problems. I believe in the approach focused on both grammar topics and listening/talking: a mix of both is always best. And a lot of practising, because memory and repeating always work well together. Sometimes I find myself offering a quick overview of the English grammar to students too: it helps consolidating their own language and helps them relating it to the one they are about to learn.

And of course: fun is a main part too!

Personal Description:
I am a forty-two year old male, who has lived and worked all over the world. I only teach English as a Foreign Language, and I will only teach adults (16+). I live in Southampton, and am prepared to travel if required. I am available most of the time, including weekends if necessary.
My interests include football and sailing.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously taught adult students as follows;
1. In Prague (Czech Republic), mostly at beginner and intermediate level.
2. Fijian adults at intermediate and advanced level.
3. Polish adults at all levels.
4. Arabic adults at intermediate level.
I do not teach any other subjects so EFL is my speciality.

Tutoring Approach:

I have used most of the popular workbooks before, but I am happy to teach to a syllabus of the student's choice. I try to make all lessons as contemporary and enjoyable as possible (I have even taught in a pub), but am happy to adapt to the student's needs as necessary.

I am happy to offer significant discounts to the advertised rates for block bookings paid in advance.

Personal Description:
I am a 21 year old, final year student at the University of Leeds where I study French and Spanish. As my educational record shows, I have excellent linguistic skills and I am very hardworking. I also pride myself on being friendly, patient and logical. I completed a term abroad in Granada where I took an intensive Spanish language course. There I acquired a level C1/2 according to the European framework of reference for languages, the highest possible, and received 9/10. I have just come back from my year abroad in Versailles where I was British Council Language Assistant. I am now fluent in both French and Spanish.

Teaching Experience:

I undertook a seven month teaching placement in Versailles, France (October 2013 - April 2014), where I taught English as a Foreign Language in two Secondary Schools. I have also given private lessons since 2012, as well as teaching private English lessons in France. One girl I taught increased her grade from a B to an A* in her French GCSE oral. Furthermore, I assisted language classes at my school between 2009 and 2011 for years 7 - 11.

Tutoring Approach:

My approaches are various. Having completed my A levels and GCSEs relatively recently, exam technique is still fresh in my mind and I hope to be able to teach students how exams work as (a bit unfortunately) this is very important these days. However I am a strong advocate of instilling the foundations of language, namely grammar and vocabulary, as this is how I learnt best and how you can understand a language. I also believe in immersing yourself as much as possible, for those who are serious about learning a language - by watching films, TV programmes, reading books and writing. Practice is vital if one is to achieve a high level and there can be no short cuts. I am also happy to work through topics in a textbooks and helping with exercises as, as mentioned earlier, practice really does make perfect.

Of course, lessons will be tailored to individual needs, and they can be as formal or informal as one likes: from straight grammar to half an hour of chatting for those who aren't learning a language for an exam, for example.

Personal Description:
I am a young qualified graphic designer and illustrator, with enormous enthusiasm in teaching and learning new skills. The opportunity to teach is rewarding for both the tutor and pupil (Tutee) and teaching pupils art and design (the things I love most) would be an absolute pleasure.

I am hard working, reliable, confident and friendly. I am a creative problem solver and always look for answers. I believe in the power of constructive criticism for best results. Most of my work is illustration based and influenced by graphic design, drawing on styles from Southern Africa, Europe and Great Britain. I have had 'degree level' training in Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Drawing, Typography and History of Art and Design.

Being young has its advantages, especially in tutoring children or young adults. I believe that we are approachable and have all the new ideas and influences, not to mention the enthusiasm to put in hard work.

I understand the necessary foundation skills needed in Art and Design and am clear in communicating this.

Teaching Experience:

Being a tender age of 23 and having just finished my Graphic Design degree, I am looking into my teaching diploma and in the meantime I am volunteering as an assisting art teacher in a High School on a part time bases.

I have had plenty of experience working with the youth as a Youth Leader and young Guidance and Peer Support Team member.

Tutoring Approach:

I would start by getting to know what level the pupil or tutee is at, in their art, as well as what is required of them in their A-Levels and what their hopes or goals are. I would then look at where to start in achieving this goal together.

I would cover history in art as well as practical skills in all types of mediums, ranging from pencil, pastel, paint, ink, following through, all the way to digital mediums.

I understand the importance of foundation skills and believe in learning from the great classical artists (who obviously knew what they were on about), so this would probably be a good start. I would also encourage freedom of expression and looking at more modern and relevant artists of today.

I believe it is important to be aware of what others are inspired by, what their thought process is and how this is expressed or interpreted and then heard or received. By looking at this, we find the courage to use our own 'inner voice' and find the inspiration to express this with enthusiasm and belief, which is what makes a great artist.

Personal Description:
I am a retired police officer who is now seeking some part time work in order to continue to have social interaction with people and to utilise my teaching skills. My main hobbies are keeping fit at the gym, music, reading, cinema, concerts and travel. As a person I am empathic, patient and kind and I love animals. I am interested in current affairs both in the UK and worldwide.

Teaching Experience:

During my career I spent 5 years teaching IT in industry. As a police officer I spent 7 years in the Training Department teaching IT as well as Communications Skills, First Aid, Law and Force Policy. Since retiring I have passed a CELTA course and have secured two short term teaching posts so far in 2012 teaching in Austria and also at an Easter school in the UK.

Tutoring Approach:

I apply to tutoring the same skills that I have used during my extensive time as a trainer - I motivate by encouragement, patience and praise, and use a teaching approach that will suit the learning style of my student. I also enforce strict deadlines and standards in order to maximise the learner's gain from the teaching time, and to ensure that they use their study time wisely and efficiently. My attitude towards learners is that the only silly question is the one which they want to ask but don't, and that if they do not understand something then it requires me to explain it in a different way. I believe that if a learner enjoys their study they will gain a lot more from it, so endeavour to make lessons and tasks interesting and relevant.
