Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Leeds University and an ongoing postgraduate student at Exeter University. Having completed my GCSE'S/ A levels only a short while ago, I am eager to share knowledge/strategies on gaining high grades.

I am keen to stay in Education and I hope to go onto further study at a later stage.

I have a strong interest in the humanities, having studied British Politics, many different aspects of history, Critical theory from a Post Modernist and Analytical/Enlightenment perspective as well as other important philosophical and sociological phenomena. I feel like I can be of real value to any aspiring student in the humanities.

Education is an important part of life, possibly the most crucial component, I will derive great satisfaction from helping people to succeed in their chosen fields and areas. I am sure that through hard work, understanding and clear planning, I can move students towards achieving their desired grade.

I look forward to hearing from potential tutees.

Alex

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in Education professionally for the last 6 or 7 months, predominately as a teaching assistant but also helping struggling students.

During my time, at University I was involved with a charity, which organised English lessons to refugees, this has provided me with a foundation , for further work in Education.

At the moment I am also working towards a Masters and I hope to have this completed before the end of the year. This is enabling me to develop a theoretical approach to Educational issues and allowing to enhance my teaching methodology.

I can provide academic and Educational references upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

I hoping to adopt a flexible, open approach whereby I can be responsive to the needs and requirements of individual students. I am happy to tailor the lessons on a case by case basis.

I am very aware of the stress and anxiety that exams, coursework can cause, I am happy to work closely with students to alleviate any concerns they may have in periods which conflate with any of the above.

Personal Description:
I am a 21 year old Msci Mathematics (Mathematical Biology) student studying in Exeter, about to entre my fourth year. I am a very warm and friendly person. I have experience in a wide range of subjects having obtained 5 As at A level including Geography and Further Mathematics, so I am comfortable with both long and short answer subjects and exams. I am currently employed at Clifton Hill Sports centre, so I am confident in my ability to interact with new people.
I studied in Burnham Grammar School for the duration of my secondary education.

Teaching Experience:

- I acted as a personal tutor for students from years 9 -11 in Mathematics during my time in sixth form.
- I ran the Mathematics Workshop at my previous Secondary school which involved aiding students of all abilities and attitudes towards learning.
- I provided tutoring in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics at GCSE level from January 2011 till July 2011.
- I tutored a mature student for his IGCSE mathematics qualification February 2013-June 2013
- I also tutored a student for his Mathematics A-level between February 2013 - June 2013
- I was employed as a receptionist at a sports centre from November 2012 until May 2014.

Tutoring Approach:

I try and find the style that the student will value the most so that their time is put to best use. As a student myself, I am aware of how important it is to have a good bond between the student and tutor so I always try to make sure we work in a fairly relaxed way. I also understand the exams and exam technique that is needed to gain the highest mark possible. My strong belief is that I can provide a tutoring service that seems like less of an ordeal for the student, whilst still ensuring great improvement in their work. I am also able to tutor in Further Mathematics A level if required and I am more than happy to conduct tutoring sessions in public places such as the library.

My main strength as a tutor would be preparing student for exams and teaching them exactly the style of answer that the examiners will be looking for.

Personal Description:
I completed my A-levels in a year and was thus able to graduate from medical school as the youngest doctor in the university's recent history. In order to achieve the above I tried and tested a variety of techniques as well as revision materials which I have now perfected over the past few years. Being a doctor, I am very patient and friendly and I never judge anyone, my only aim is to offer my help to anyone who needs it. I have also had the privilege of interviewing potential medical students and am thus well experienced with helping with interviews for medical school.

Teaching Experience:

In high school I tutored fellow students with their GCSE's - I mainly tutored in English and Biology. I did group as well as individual tutoring and so have experience in helping any number of students at one time.

For the past 2 years I have helped university students attain their targets both with medical school exams general coursework. I am proud to say that I have always received positive feedback. Moreover, the South Thames Foundation School recently awarded me with a prestigious merit for teaching - a merit reserved for doctors who give up their personal time to help medical students attain their goals whilst at medical school.

Tutoring Approach:

I usually start off with a short questionnaire to understand your requirements and to recognise your strengths and weaknesses so that we do not waste time going through material you are familiar with. I then usually break down all the materials into small steps which we would go through in a systematic fashion. Whichever step you do not understand, I will use various approaches to ensure you are entirely comfortable before we move on.

I am a firm believer in ensuring that the foundation of knowledge is strong before endeavouring to understand the more intricate and detailed aspects of any subject. Therefore I will always make sure you understand the basics of whichever subject you are struggling with and this usually makes a massive difference with regard to future and more detailed understanding.

Personal Description:
I am a keen, enthusiastic and passionate tutor who has just completed a Masters' degree and a Geography degree, both from Oxford University. I am about to complete the GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law) at BPP, London (Waterloo). I have demonstrated sustained academic success since the age of 13 when I won two scholarships to Westminster School (Queen's Scholarship) and Haberdashers' Aske's, Elstree (Top Scholarship).

My subsequent qualifications are outlined below:

12 A* GCSEs (incl. full marks in English Language and Literature),

4 "A"A-Level Grades August 2009 in Mathematics (MEI), Geography, History and Biology also at Westminster School.

Highly Commended Prize Essays on 'Global Warming: An Inconvenient Truth or Convenient Untruth?' and 'Biofuels should no longer be considered as a weapon against climate change.'

BA (Hons.) Geography at Jesus College, Oxford 2009-2012.
First (Distinction) achieved in Prelim University 1st Year Exams, July 2010
Academic Scholarship Awarded for 2010-2012

MSc. Criminology & Criminal Justice: Green Templeton College, University Oxford, 2012-2013

GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law), BPP University, 2013-2014.
Distinction attained in final year exams.

Teaching Experience:

Very experienced tutor; over 200 hours of tutoring experience from 11+ to university interview preparation. I am a top tier tutor at other agencies.

My last four tutees have attained the highest academic achievements:
One gained a place reading Land Economy at Cambridge University,
ALL three of my 13+ candidates received places at EVERY one of the schools they applied for. Two of these three even achieved academic scholarships.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe there are a number of key principles to tutoring.
1) RAPPORT - each tutee is different and it is important not to have a set formula when working with each student, or even for each class. In my opinion, there should be an emphasis on identifying the needs of the student and working towards these goals.
2) TARGETS - what are we working towards, how we can get there and isolating areas for improvement.
3) PRACTICE - regular testing, from past papers to 4) GENERAL EXAM TECHNIQUE.

Employing these four principles as a foundation, tutoring can be productive and enjoyable and I have a number of testimonies to illustrate this point. For instance, last summer, I worked with an A-Level Geography candidate who was able to get their grade from an E at AS Level to an overall high B grade for their entire A Level.

Personal Description:
I'm a 32-year old music graduate, currently living on the Isle of Man. I completed CELTA in Budapest, Hungary in 2012 and have been teaching privately since then. With my background in music I am good at incorporating this interest into my lessons (along with a passion for films, cartoons and humour).

Teaching Experience:

Beyond the teaching practice I did as part of my CELTA course, I have been teaching private students, 1:1, since my return to the island in October 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very relaxed approach to learning: my main aim is for the student to enjoy the lesson as this will help them to learn, to remember and to remain motivated.

Personal Description:
Hi there!
I am an Italian native speaker and I have just moved to the UK with my husband.I love travelling, meeting new cultures and I adore mountains and nature! As soon as I can, I spend time hiking, skiing or just walking and relaxing in the mountains. In my daily spare time I try to spend as much time as I can outdoor or in the closest park to my place. I am friendly and sociable and I love teaching because I can always learn something new too from my students.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 6 years. I used to teach Italian in Australia and in Italy where I got the certificates to be qualified in Italian and English teaching (DITALS and CELTA). I am qualified and I have experience in teaching children, teenagers and adults at all levels.

I am used to teaching with a communicative approach, through games and role-plays in order to make my students able to use the target language also at low levels.

Personal Description:
I am a 33 year old maths teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. I am currently working as vice chairman of a volunteer group. Our aim is to try and save Whiston library from permanent closure and turn it into something that is not just a library but also a community hub where the people of the local area can engage in various community activities. I have wanted to teach from a young age (weirdly!) and see it as a way of giving something back to the local community, as well as having a keen knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject I teach.
I undertook a 3 year teaching degree at Liverpool John Moores University at their IM Marsh Campus in Aigburth between 2000 and 2003 and graduated with a 2:1 with honours in Key Stage 2/3 Mathematics education. My teaching qualification means that I am fully qualified to teach maths between the ages of 11 to 18, in addition to being able to teach upper primary pupils, although it had been nearly 10 years since I last taught in a primary classroom! I also have A Levels in IT, English Language & Literature, Pure Maths & Statistics, General Studies and French in addition to my teaching qualification.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating in 2003, I began my teaching career by doing supply teaching with Select Education (Liverpool), working in a number of short term posts in different schools in Knowsley and Liverpool. I also worked voluntarily for 2 days a week in Prescot Primary school in Knowsley teaching mathematics to a whole class of Year 5 children as well as working with small groups. I also ran booster classes in maths for Year 6 pupils who were Gifted and Talented in the subject (Working towards level 6) in preparation for their National Curriculum tests (SATs).
In September 2004, I began my first full time teaching role at Holly Lodge Girls' College, passing my NQT induction year in the summer of 2005. Between 2005 and 2006, I was given responsibility for creating a transition unit based on government documentation to help Year 7 pupils to settle in to life in secondary school before they were setted in the subject. During my time there, I gained experience of teaching a wide variety of schemes of work (Key Stage 3, Modular GCSE, Coursework, Linear GCSE) and also taught sixth form GCSE resit classes for 2 years. I was also a form tutor for 5 years carrying my form through from Year 7 to Year 11 and participated in the school PSHE programme where I was involved in designing a unit of work for year 7 pupils with regards to financial management and calculations.
I left Holly Lodge in July 2009 due to my father becoming seriously ill and his subsequent death and took a year out of teaching to begin a family history research project before returning to the profession in September 2010 by working for Celsian Education (Liverpool) as a supply. However work was few and far between so by September 2011, I moved to another agency The Education Specialists. But once again work was far from plentiful. In October last year, I joined Our Whiston Library Group (OWL) as a campaigner/volunteer with the initial aim of opening in April 2014 in partnership with Hugh Baird College of Bootle, but they withdrew at the last minute leaving our group to make a bid on our own to take over the building. I became vice chair of the group in October 2014. A copy of my CV is available on request.

Tutoring Approach:

Despite having tutored family members for GCSE and A Level studies in the past, as well as proof reading university assignments for friends and family, I have never registered as a private tutor before. But my aim is to provide the same approach to tutoring as I did in the classroom. A firm but fair approach with an easy going manner and reasonable expectations of what pupils can do. Recent OfSted and media reports have heavily criticised the standards of numeracy and maths teaching in the Knowsley and Liverpool areas. My aim is to give something back to these communities. I am also able to provide tutoring in newly introduced Free Standing Maths Qualifications (FSMQs) such as financial calculations and money management. I also have a vast electronic collection of resources as well as books, at my disposal that I have collected over my teaching career.
My tuition rates are lower than the average due to my main target area of Knowsley (Mainly Prescot and Whiston) being a deprived area. I am prepared to travel to homes, but please be aware that I use public transport and that it is difficult to get to certain areas, in particular after 6/7pm. I can offer tutoring from my house in Whiston and may be prepared to offer online tuition (Via Skpe) in the future.
One of my aims for the Whiston Library project is to use the library as a base for tuition so students would be able to be tutored there as there are study areas and resources such as computers and potentially an interactive whiteboard. All being well, we aim to try to take over the building from Knowsley council in early 2015, so watch this space!

Personal Description:
Originally from the east coast of Russia, I lived in London for over a decade, before moving to Cheltenham in 2014. While in Russia I studied English and Mandarin Chinese at undergraduate level. During my time in the UK I have also studied Spanish.

My personal experiences have given me a deep appreciation of the challenges that learning new languages present. This understanding of the learning process and the differences between language groups, combined with my passion for helping others to communicate more effectively across cultural and linguistic divides, led me to find my personal niche as a private tutor teaching Russian language skills to English-speaking students.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience successfully coaching both beginner and intermediate level students through to confident fluency in both written and spoken Russian.

Tutoring Approach:

I regularly travel to Russia and bring back lots of "real life" learning materials to practice with in my classes (eg. restaurant & bar menus, advertisements, tickets etc.) both to keep lessons varied and interesting and also so that my students may feel prepared and competent applying their new language skills in real life scenarios. In my classes I will use a mixture of resources from text books and Russian popular culture. You will not only learn the Russian language, but hopefully also something about the culture and history of Russian people.

Whether you are looking to learn Russian for professional or personal reasons, I will help you to become confident speaking, reading and writing, at a pace to suit you. I am comfortable and happy to tailor your course especially for you to meet your personal learning style and desired outcome. I am friendly, adaptable and open to feedback and new ideas regards helping you to achieve your goal. I genuinely enjoy teaching people Russian and I'm sure that I will enjoy our classes as much as you will. You will see that learning Russian can be easy and fun.
