Personal Description:
I have been living in Broadstairs for the past two years, having moved from Brighton. I lived in Germany for four years before moving back to England to study at university and am a fluent German speaker. My partner is from Sued Tirol in Italy, and is a trilingual German, Italian and English speaker. I love watching football, and enjoy going to the gym. I enjoy cooking and learning new languages.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English to Speakers of other Languages for the past ten years, and have taught at several language schools as well as a university college in England, Germany and Austria. I have also worked and taught in kindergartens and primary schools in Dresden, Germany where I ran my own business. I have mostly taught teenagers including exam preparation classes such as PET, KET and TOEIC as well as for the English Abitur.

I am currently teaching Japanese students at a prestigious private Japanese university college, and also have experience teaching European students. I have taught Business English to professional adults 1:1, and have taught smaller and larger class sizes. I hold a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults as well as as a Post-Graduate Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Canterbury Christchurch University, and am currently finishing my dissertation leading to obtaining the MA TESOL in 2013.

I have recently been working as Director of Studies at a summer language school where I was responsible for the academic content. I have also worked as a German teacher teaching on a 1:1 basis privately, and have a sound understanding of language teaching methodology and German language systems as I studied German and Linguistics (BA Hons) at the University of Brighton, and obtained a certificate in German as a Foreign Language while living and working in Germany.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that establishing good rapport with my students is key in ensuring language learning success. I use my humour while teaching and strive to be sympathetic to my learners' needs. I try to make my lessons fun and engaging as well as challenging according to the level of my students. I am able to use a number of language teaching methodologies to suit your learning styles, and experiences of learning languages, and use a variety of methods and techniques to ensure that your language learning never becomes boring. Most of all, I really enjoy teaching languages!

Personal Description:
I grew up in Japan, and have worked there for 1 year, and 2 years in Taiwan, so I have a good command of Japanese and Mandarin. I have the advantage over native speakers of having mastered them as a foreign language for myself, so I know from experience how to teach it.

I enjoy spending time with people, teaching, and passing on whatever knowledge I have, helping them improve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

2 years teaching teaching Japanese and Chinese to students one-to-one, and in small groups, from 5 years old to adult. I have also taught some lessons for the Japan Foundation in London.
1 year teaching in a Senior High School in Japan
2 years teaching in a Language school in Taiwan.
2 months teaching in Brighton.
2 years teaching one to one English.
Over 10 years as a language learner, so I have been in your shoes, and can share the innovative techniques and memorization methods I've used.

Tutoring Approach:

Student of Chinese said, "Ali tailored the lessons very well and ensured that learning Chinese from scratch was not intimidating. The resources were excellent with varied activities, and there was a lot of out of classroom support. I have enjoyed the lessons immensely and it has inspired me to continue learning Chinese. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ali as a teacher."
I will help you with your reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and have tricks to help you remember the written scripts easily.
With years of experience teaching foreign languages, I tailor your lessons to your needs, learning style, interests, and goals. I use varied resources, activities and role-plays allowing maximum participation, and an enjoyable, and effective learning environment.

Personal Description:
Positive, encouraging, warm and friendly. I graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2011 with an MA(Hons) in English Literature, and am currently undertaking a PGDE in Secondary English Teaching at the University of Strathclyde. I can assure you that whether you are studying William Shakespeare or Irvine Welsh, I can help. From experience, I also know that how much you enjoy the literature in question can have a big impact on how well you write essays or reports on it. I have a passion for literature and know there is always something good to be taken from any book, so hopefully through my tutoring, you'll catch the bug too. From critical readings, to deciphering poetry, to writing your own creative pieces, I've done them all from school through to University, and have no doubt I can guide you to a new-found confidence in your English Literature studies. Having studied Mediaeval, Scottish and Modern History at Junior Honours Level, I can also assist with school level British and European History studies. I am a qualified EFL Teacher, so if you're looking for help developing your English skills, look no further.

Teaching Experience:

EFL Teacher, Adults and Teenagers. Teaching exam based classes, I taught pupils aged 14 and upwards the skills, language and confidence necessary to sit internationally recognised Cambridge ESOL examinations. My teaching role varied from providing one-to-one tutoring for adults wishing to improve their English, to planning and delivering structured, informative lessons for classes of teenagers as part of their curriculum. I am delighted to be able to report that my students' earned not only pass marks in their exams, but were thrilled to attain high grades.

Kindergarten EFL Teacher. In this role I taught classes of thirty students the basics of the English language, using lesson plans and worksheets I developed myself. With a creative and enjoyable approach to teaching, I noticed considerable improvements in the English skills of my students, and am pleased to say my pupils consistently enjoyed my lessons and my warm, constructive teaching style.

Volunteer EFL Tutor. A one-on-one role teaching beginner's English, I tailored my lessons specifically to my pupil's needs at all times, discovering their areas of strength and which methods suited them best, and also working on weaker areas, finding ways to improve these through diverting activities and positive re-enforcement.

Volunteer Leader in ASN Performance Classes. In this role I helped teach children and adults with additional support needs singing, dancing and acting. I assisted either individuals or small groups in developing ideas for dramatic scenes, learning how best to work with each person, adapting scenes to both their preferences and what would help develop their confidence and independence.

I can also expertly proof-read your work, having previously proof-read dissertations, websites and CVs with skill, helping you produce a polished essay.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in structuring encouraging, independent learning environments, helping to draw out your own ideas and discussing them together to achieve an interesting and concise argument for you to work on. I apply constructive criticism with tact and guidance, asking appropriate questions about your theories to allow you to think them through with consideration and depth. I will not tell you what you should write: I will facilitate you, guide you, act as a sounding board for your ideas, and explain any gnarly linguistic or theoretical queries you may have. Be assured that I will come prepared to each lesson, whether online or in person, ready with resources I think would assist you, and with a sound knowledge of the text in question. Above all, I will be dedicated to helping you improve your understanding of the topic; the quality of your written work; and, hopefully, your enjoyment of reading and studying texts.

Personal Description:
Hi there,

I'm Alan, I'm an Engineering manager with Siemens, I'm married and live in a lovely part of the Hampshire countryside.

Apart from work, I spend a lot of time cycling and walking the nearby parks and hills.

Teaching Experience:

I've been tutoring for 5 years now, and I am trained as a trainer through work, so I've taught both adults and students. I used to run a training team as part of my last job, and understand a lot about different teaching and learning styles.

Since tutoring I've mostly taught 16 and upwards, physics and maths, and occasionally the odd other question!

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to make the teaching as simple as possible, and let the student work it out themselves with me providing guidance where need be. Physics, and maths in particular, can be daunting - many people just want to get a good grade and move on, which I understand completely, I'm not going to make you love the subjects but help you get to where you want to be.
