Personal Description:
I am a French lady in my late fifties. I have been living in England since I moved there with my husband and daughter in 1992. I graduated from University of Tours (France) in History and History of Art, and then moved to Paris where I worked for the Ministry of Culture for 12 years. I have a strong interest in written language, grammar, culture and history, both in French and in English.

Teaching Experience:

In France I worked for three years as a History teacher (for 18 to 22 year-old) in a private school in Tours.
In England, from 1994 to 2007, I worked as a French tutor at the Hermitage Junior School in St Johns, Woking, teaching French at primary school level as a preparation for secondary school.
I tutored many students for GCSE and A-Level along the years, some of them went on to study French at University.
I tutored uni-students as well, including Oxbridge's.
I hold French conversation groups for adults at home, and beginner course for adults as well.

Tutoring Approach:

I particularly enjoy one to one tutoring as it allows me to adapt to the precise needs of the student. Having learn English as a French speaker, I have a good insight of the difficulties in both these languages: so similar and yet so different. I particularly enjoy helping students for their exams. Catching up on grammar is often more than necessary but being good at language is really a matter of self confidence. It is why I strongly recommend to start French lessons more than 3 months ahead of the exam when possible.

Every student has their own unique learning style, which is why I tailor my teaching methods to suit them. I like to use many different approaches in a tutoring session to keep attention focused and help students see things in different ways. These include whiteboard work, computer quizzes, apps and games. I use clear explanations for new concepts and encourage study skills as well as revision and exam technique.

Responsibilities as a Secondary school Teacher:
Plan and carry out lessons
Keep records of students grades
Set students targets either in a formal or informal setting. Eg parents evening or informal meeting with parent
Attended parents evening
Mark children in yr 11 course work
Have extra sessions for children who are behind in their coursework
Mark student's class work coursework, record their grades and plan based on weak and or strong areas identified
Ensure that students work to their full potential
Work closely with department heads and head of the years that I teach to monitor the student development in different areas

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is an investigative and supportive. ie their is a lot of logics or knowledge that I child sometimes laready have, by questioning sometimes these will come out. That way the child will remember the information fo a longer time as he/she contributed to the answer. She/he feels valued and a part of the teaching and learning process.
Each child I tutor is alway given a diagnostic test. From the test I would do a Individual Learning Plan. During tutoring as I identify weak areas I address them individually. I see education as a completed chain link, that is if a child is lacking in certain background knowledge, they will find it difficult to move forward effectively with their education. Unless these weak areas are address and their knowledge concretize they find it difficult to move on.
Parent's feedback is apart of this process and children must be praised throughout their learning, when neccessary and this needs to be done in context.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a construction student at Surrey university so that she could understand the mathematics in her mechanics module this year.

I have helped friends understand complicated maths topics many times in sixth form and university.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach in tutoring starts with establishing goals then creating a structured plan so that these goals can be achieved.

My tutoring will emphasis on understanding the core concepts of the topic, then applying the core knowledge to practical examples, and lastly see how the topic is associated within exam questions.

I am a native qualified German teacher with a range of teaching experience in the Primary, Secondary and Further Education Sector. I have been tutoring students from a wide variety of backgrounds and age groups for the past 12 years, either for specific exam preparation, leisure or business. I am currently working in Further Education and enjoy tutoring alongside. I offer weekly sessions as well as intensive support in the run-up to exams. For these students I run a number of one and two-day revision workshops aimed at providing just this sort of help.

Teaching Experience:

German:
- Pre-GSCE German (9 years onwards)
- GCSE German: AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC
- AS and A2 German: Edexcel, AQA, OCR, WJEC
- Adult Tuition, all levels
- Business

Tutoring Approach:

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in tackling exam questions. My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to develop their German skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and homework to check understanding continually.

I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis with regards to study skills. Where appropriate I set and mark work, giving students detailed feedback so that they can improve quickly.

Personal Description:
I am a warm, friendly and outgoing person with an excellent ability to build a rapport with my students. I love languages and am passionate in particular about English. I speak Welsh to a good level as well as some Spanish and French. I love literature and drama and am adept at finding new and unique pieces and quite often construct my own writing. I love working with children and find great joy in helping them to succeed and achieve their goals. I find working with children is exciting and no 2 days are the same. Mainly I love working with children because I often find that they teach me as much as I teach them!

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced tutor with a history of achieving results. I am a qualified primary teacher with experience of tutoring in KS2 and KS3. I have experience tutoring children who are looked after by the local authority, children who have additional learning needs and children who are gifted and require further stretch and challenge. I have several summer's experience teaching at English summer schools for children from France or Spain and as a result my technical knowledge of English language is excellent.

I also have experience of teaching small classes of adults and am able to adapt my teaching and lessons to suit a more adult approach.

Prior to teaching I worked as a supply TA as a range of local schools and as a result have a wealth of experience with all kinds of children.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring in one word is fun. As a teacher I know how hard children work in school and therefore understand that any extra sessions need to be fun and active to keep their attention. I always do an introductory session where the tutee and I simply get to know each other through fun activities. I then use this information to personally tailor the sessions to the needs and interests of that person. I find this helps to engage even the most reluctant learners and enables them to get to grips with the material.

Personal Description:
I'm a 21 year old male who currently works for the Ambulance service as an Emergency Medical Technician. I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2013 with a 2:1 in Physical Education. During my degree I mainly focused on health & disease of the general human population and cardiac physiology. I am lucky to be in a job where I can relate the theoretical knowledge I have learnt to real life applications.

I studied Biology, Maths, Physics and Physical Education at A-Level and I am willing to teach both Biology and PE up to this standard. My main interest is in the human biology side of the biology curriculum. I am comfortable teaching all areas of the PE curriculum, this is my preferred subject.

I work shifts so my availability changes each week however I'm normally available for at least 3 week evenings/nights per week as well as 1 guaranteed weekend per month.

Teaching Experience:

During my time at university I completed a variety of teaching modules including both practical and theory lessons in Secondary schools. I also have experience of teaching SEN pupils.

As well my teaching placements at university I have been a multi sport coach for the last 3 years leading sport sessions to teenagers on my own. I also have experience of teaching first aid to university students for the last 2 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I appreciate that each student is different and will grasp concepts at their own pace requiring differing levels of support. I like to focus my time on areas that the pupil finds particularly challenging as I don't see the point in wasting time going over an area that they already have a good understanding of.

I like to try and link theory to practical as I believe this helps with a students understanding, as well as making the subject more interesting. I believe using past exam paper questions are vital to allow the pupil to experience what kind of replies the exam boards are looking for.

I am a pretty easy going kind of person who likes to make sessions fun and enjoyable as I believe this helps a student to learn. Ultimately I will try and let the student dictate each sessions as they know what works best for them.

Personal Description:
Graduated from The University of York in 2013 having achieved a 1st in Mathematics. I am an experienced maths teacher teaching a range of levels in KS3, KS4 and KS5. I am highly motivated and enthusiastic with strong communication skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for two years in an outstanding school, teaching KS3, KS4 and delivering the A level curriculum to both a sixth form and Gateshead College students.I have taught a variety of students with special needs and successfully lead interventions for both GCSE and A level classes. I have had previous experience tutoring; whilst both teaching and at university. I am fully CRB checked with a full UK driving license.

Tutoring Approach:

Building a good relationship with the tutee is paramount when tutoring so that results are achieved and the learning is enjoyable. Due to every learner having preferred ways of working it is extremely important to be able to adapt to the needs of the student knowing how and when to differentiate appropriately and scaffold learning. In addition to this goals need to be discussed and agreed upon so that time is used effectively.
