Personal Description:
I studied Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, where I was awarded the Craig Taylor Prize for the best exam results in my year. I then spent a year at Harvard as a Frank Knox Fellow before completing an MPhilStud in Philosophy at Birkbeck College, University of London. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Sussex, but based in London.

My specialist areas are political philosophy, epistemology, critical theory, and Wittgenstein. I can also help with reading German philosophical texts, and issues of translation.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor since 2010 and enjoy teaching all ages and levels. Most of my students have been university and A-level students, including mature students.

As well as teaching privately I have been an Associate Tutor at Birkbeck College, teaching BA seminar courses in political philosophy, ethics, and epistemology.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is always to make the subject comprehensible and engaging while challenging students to think for themselves.

Here's what some of my former students said:

'Koshka really helped me to grasp philosophy. Rather than simply training me to pass exams, she encouraged me to develop a thorough understanding of the subject, primarily through detailed reading and Socratic discussion. The tutorials aided me in achieving consistently high grades (90%+ UMS in every module), and compelled me to study philosophy at university.' (Alex, mature A-level student)'

'Koshka was very helpful and patient, and explained everything very clearly. She also provided extra reading that allowed me to gain a deeper understanding (and enjoyment) of my subject. Not only did I learn a lot from our sessions, they were also fun and interesting.' (Ruby, AS-level)

'Koshka had a very comprehensive and thorough approach to the course and was also a relatable and easy to talk to individual. Her out of lesson dedication to marking essays and then detailed run through of them was invaluable to my personal development. Finally, her extensive knowledge and passion for philosophy definitely went some way to helping me feel the same way about the subject.' (Vyshnan, A-level)

BA tutorial evaluations: 'Brilliant essay feedback. Great paper recommendations'; 'Very engaging'; 'Very good at explaining things';'Much enjoyed'.

Personal Description:
I was born in mainland China where we speak standard Mandarin, after graduated from university I moved to Shenzhen, the first city applied Open Policy in China. During 6 years living and working there, I learnt very fluent Cantonese.

At the end of 1999, I came to UK in pursuing further education. I achieved my MBA degree and Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language in UK. During the break between these two studies, I also gained Interpreting certificate which enables me to do the interpreting jobs between English and Chinese language.

Maybe I have a little bit gift in learning language myself? My English pronunciation is rather good so that some of my English friends even said it can hardly tell I am not English from talking with me through the phone.

Hopefully I've reassured you that there is no barrier in me communicating with your child if you are worried that, as a Mandarin native speaker, I might have strange accent in English speaking.

I firmly believe that, language learning, is not just about to learn the language itself, but also the culture. The better perception of culture will certainly enhance the language learning. Therefore, I will integrate rich Chinese culture into my teaching, of course in various passionate ways to make the class full of the fun!

Teaching Experience:

I have being teaching Mandarin for many years, such rich experience has directed me into setting up the Croydon Mandarin school in Croydon. As a specialist in teaching Mandarin, I never limited my role as a business founder only, but with more contribution as a chief tutor.

Croydon Mandarin School in Croydon (every Saturday morning and afternoon);
After School Clubs (Mandarin) in local schools;
Taught adults students for SOAS London University in 2010;
5 years private tuition in Mandarin;
3 years interpreting and translation experience.

Tutoring Approach:

For the learners whose mother language is totally different to Mandarin, particularly for those at very young ages, a fun, exciting and interesting learning environment is crucial to avoid boredom. I will tailor lessons to help individuals to overcome their difficulties; at the very beginning, prior to learning speed, I will make effort to ensure students to grasp the basic of Chinese, in which way, students will be much easier to keep up in the future learning.

Apart from one-to-one tutoring, you could choose to enrol a course in my Mandarin school in Croydon -- 250 annually for 2-hour lesson every Saturday, to boost students potentials.

Personal Description:
I am a 22 year old who is currently working at RWS translations group in Chalfont St Peter. I have recently graduated from Durham University with a 2.1 BA in Modern Languages (French and Italian). I also studied Spanish up to 2nd year. I enjoy speaking different languages and try to pass on my enthusiasm for languages to others.

Teaching Experience:

My third year at University was spent abroad. I chose to teach in France for 7 months in two primary schools which I very much enjoyed. I loved to chat to the children and try to get them to see the importance of learning English. I also au-paired for three months in Italy during my Year Abroad, which involved private lessons with a 7 year old. I have also previously tutored French, which included exam preparation, focusing on problematic areas and improving confidence. I understand how difficult languages can be, I believe I can sympathise with the student. The lesson must be fun and the student needs to understand the importance of learning a language, in order to be enthusiastic about it.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe languages are crucial in education. Throughout university I took part in Routes into Languages, a consortium of universities working together with schools and colleges, to enthuse and encourage people to study languages. This role involved planning taster classes for small groups, introducing a new language into their education and broadening their knowledge of the world and different cultures. I particularly enjoyed this role as I was enable to communicate the importance of languages and perhaps inspire some of the children to carry languages on past year 9.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying for a MSc in Management of Intellectual Property at Queen Mary University of London. I am a recent graduate of The University of Nottingham. I studied Physics MSci, achieving a 2:1 in my final result. I studied my GCSEs and A-Levels at Spalding Grammar School, achieving 12 GCSEs (including Maths, Statistics and Science), and A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Business Studies.

My Physics knowledge covers core subjects such as Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics, Wave Phenomena, and Quantum Physics. As well as this, I have expanded my knowledge base with optional modules covering Nanophysics, Biophysics, Computational Physics, and a small amount of Astrophysics.

Naturally, having completed a degree in Physics, a strong knowledge of Maths is necessary. I have excelled in Mathematical subjects from a young age. Having partaken in the UKMT Mathematical Challenge for multiple years, in 2008 I qualified through to the Mathematical Olympiad, qualifying as one of the top 500 pupils in the country. Through GCSEs I was entered into the higher maths group, completing a Statistics GCSE in my first year, and a Maths GCSE in my second year.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored other pupils from an early age, helping to teach younger students Maths during my GCSEs. Since then I have regularly helped tutor friends and others whenever they required, thoroughly enjoying the experience. Often being seen as the leader of a study group, I enjoy being looked up to, and helping others to understand a topic which eludes them.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring largely depends on the student. I am happy to take the lead, or let my students come to me with their problems, helping through past papers, or just giving pointers on coursework. There is no strict way to teach all people, it really depends on the student.

Personal Description:
I'm a young teacher, but I have five years teaching experience to my name. I love to travel and I love the theatre.

Teaching Experience:

I am an English teacher with five years experience. I love Shakespeare and I know far too many useless facts about his plays. I have taught the new iGCSE this year and I think that it is a great way to get that all important C grade for many students.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a lot of experience with teaching 121, I think that it is important to be relaxed and enjoy learning. A lot of the time confidence is half of the problem.

Personal Description:
My name is Dina and I am twenty three years old, every since I was 15 I was fascinated with biology it is truly my ambition in life. I love teaching people about it in anyway possible.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for almost five years now and my most recent experience was with IGCSE biology I am very well acquainted with it as I took the same curriculum in school myself.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a concept based approach, since biology can be a bulky subject to grasp in one go, I prefer cutting in into smaller cascades that can be easily understood by beginners or students who struggle with the subject. I believe in the power of motivation as well since students must believe in themselves to achieve anything they aspire to. And finally enough effort would inevitably pay off.
