Personal Description:
I have Special Needs University qualifications and counseling skills, which enables me to tutor students that may encounter emotional difficulties in their learning. I believe that motivation is the key factor to tutoring, as it needs to be addressed continuously in the process of learning.

- Wednesday: 4-5pm, 6-7pm
- Thursday: 5-6pm, 6-7.30pm

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for the past 14 years preparing students for +11, +13 exams in English and Maths. I also teach Maths up to AS level (C1 and C2).

I am a certified therapist in PhonoGraphix method for addressing spelling and reading difficulties both for children and adults.

I could also help with learning computers (ECDL syllabus including usage of Word, PowerPoint, Internet, Excel).

Tutoring Approach:

I have Special Needs University qualifications and counselling skills, which enables me to tutor students that may encounter emotional difficulties in their learning. I believe that motivation is the key factor to tutoring, as it needs to be addressed continuously in the process of learning.

As a tutor, I encourage my students to reflect upon their mistakes and to understand how to tackle the next step of their learning, without having a negative response.

I usually have the first lesson together with the parents so that the student feels comfortable and parents can observe my teaching; I present a folder containing the CRB form, qualifications, QTS certificate and letters of recommendations from parents. I teach from home in a calm and stimulating environment.
The first lesson is only paid if the parent decides to continue tuition.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am a lecturer and writer based in Bristol. I enjoy working with students from many backgrounds and countries.

I have a wide variety of experience of working in the creative industries, and teaching in Universities. Many of the students that approach me on this website want help with their dissertation or preparing for exams. I keep an open mind and am happy to listen to what you need. If I can help, I will. If I can't I will be honest with you and let you know.

As well as teaching I am the author of several books including 'How to work as a freelance journalist', 'Banksy: Myths and Legends' and 'Glastonbury Festival: Myths and Legends'.

I like tutoring as I get to speak to interesting people who face a variety of academic challenges. I don't mind traveling, but be aware that I do need to charge for this time. Drop me a line and let's discuss what kind of help I can give.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught various subjects over the last seven years.

I also teach 'Creativity and Innovation in Business' which is all about new ways of approaching business, problem solving and new trends in business.

I have also supervised many MA dissertations.

I also teach Journalism, as this is what I used to do before I became a lecturer. My specialisms include feature writing, copywriting and news writing.

I have taught students from all over the world including China, Malaysia and the Middle East.

Tutoring Approach:

Through this site I have worked with students to complete their MA's, catch up on missed work, or understand academic ideas that they were struggling with.

Please email first to see if I can help, I don't believe in taking anyone's money if I can't help, so please feel free to drop me a line.

I have also worked with many students via email and telephone. This means that you can tackle a bit at a time, and save yourself money. I usually make a few suggestions at first, allow you to make them and then repeat the process until you are happy your work is the best it can be.

Personal Description:
I am currently teaching at one of the top independent schools for girls in Berkshire. I hold a PhD in chemistry, which gives me sound knowledge of the subject and I have completed my teacher training at the University of Cambridge.
I am told to be an approachable person which allows me to build a very good working relationship with my students. They are never afraid of asking questions and this gives me the opportunity to identify problems and rectify them quickly.

Teaching Experience:

I am a chemistry specialist and I have five years experience of teaching Edexcel IGCSE and OCR A/B A level qualifications in a high achieving school. I am also confident with the content of the AQA, OCR A/B and Edexcel GCSE and AQA and Edexcel A level specifications.

Tutoring Approach:

I do not have a unique approach. All students are different and they have all different needs. I try building a relationship of trust and listen to what their needs are. Very often is the case that they lack confidence and they just need some reassurance. Chemistry is a challenging subject but most students can do very well provided they have self belief and are willing to work hard.

Personal Description:
I was born into a French-speaking family and have spoken French my entire life. I have a BA from the London School of Economics in French and Linguistics. I have also lived in France for several years. I have taught French privately for over 20 years and many of my students achieve very high standards. I am very dedicated to my students and try and get the best out of them. One mother with five children of differing ages from 6 years old to 18, where the children were attending Harrodian in Barnes said that her children told her I "was the best French teacher they ever had" - that works for me!

Teaching Experience:

Teaching privately French for over 20 years from beginners to University students as well as adults has given me a great deal of experience across different goals and varying levels. I teach spoken French for those who only want to simply speak the language as well as grammar for those who need to take exams. I work with University students to achieve top grades in dissertations and essays or oral exams. One of my recent students was told by her lecturers she would get a 3rd in her degree ended up getting a 2:1 - not bad eh? I love French literature so if you are studying a piece of literature, I will be able to guide you through the book. I sing with some of my students as I find singing is a wonderful way of learning a language especially where vocabulary is limited. Other students need to listen to French radio in order to accustom the ear to current spoken language and we work together to understand what is being said.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin by assessing the pupils strengths and weaknesses and then plan lessons to suit the individuals needs. The most important aspect is for the pupil to enjoy the lesson so learning French is a pleasure and not a chore. I also spend time teaching exam techniques as these are as important as studying the language itself.

Personal Description:
I have worked with some 800+ children and have a pass rate of 91%. I recommend that children start tuition from near the beginning of year 5 and have a 50 mins-one hour lesson per week.

I am a regular contributor on 11+ website forums giving parents the benefit of my experience/knowledge.

In 2003 I produced a guide to 11+ success and have sold over 1500 copies to date.

I have been an adviser to publisher Nelson Thornes on the contents of their VR books which include the Bond range.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 21 years experience as a private tutor preparing children for the grammar school entrance exams (11+) and 11 years as a year 5 class teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

I carry out an initial assessment test which provides me with an accurate guide as to whether the child is a suitable candidate.

My aim is to familiarise my pupils with the different types of verbal reasoning questions they will encounter in the exam and teach them methods to tackle them most effectively.

As we approach the exam we concentrate on 'fine-tuning' i.e. concentrating specifically on any areas that need further attention and ensuring that the child is used to working at the required speed. Appropriate practice tests are done on a regular basis.

Personal Description:
I graduated with a 2:1 in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic from Cambridge University in 2010. The course included modules in history, politics, literature, and religious studies, as well as Arabic language. I spent the third year of my studies living in Damascus, Syria, and speak the Syrian dialect, as well as having a solid grounding in Modern Standard grammar.

My A-levels were in English Literature, Philosophy & Ethics, French, and History (AAAB), and I also took an AS-level in Spanish (A). I have lived in France and Spain and speak both French and Spanish to a high level of fluency. I was also raised bilingual with English and Italian.

Teaching Experience:

In addition to tutoring family friends in Italy over the summer holidays (in English), I've exchanged English and Spanish lessons for Arabic lessons. I also taught English to two groups of 20+ Arab teenagers at a high school in Israel from September - December 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in cultivating a vigorous work ethic in students, which is best done through close supervision and encouragement. The work covered will involve both the curriculum required by the student's course as well as helpful extras tailored to the student's abilities and personality. I will provide these extras to increase the student's understanding of the subject and help him/or her reach a standard of excellence that will be noticed by teachers and examiners alike.

I find the most common problem students have is not with the subject itself, but with the teacher or the insufficient attention they get in the classroom. A stress-free but diligent approach will allow us to build trust, which will give the student renewed confidence in his or her abilities. Students who push themselves with me will be rewarded for their hard work by realising that the subject they once dreaded is actually really enjoyable when approached from a new angle.

Personal Description:
I recently returned to the UK after a number of years living and teaching in China, and now I wish to use the experience i have gained over the years to help students who need to learn English in the UK.
When i am not working i enjoy travelling and playing sport. In addition to living in China, i have also lived in New Zealand and Australia and travelled extensively in Europe.

Teaching Experience:

I have been an ESL teacher for 8 years. My experience has been gained predominantly in China, though i have taught at a college in the UK. I have taught a variety of nationalities and also all ages and levels. I possess both the CELTA and DELTA teaching practice qualifications. I was also an IELTS speaking and writing test examiner for two years and have passed a Cambridge certified online course in the teaching of IELTS.

Tutoring Approach:

Having lived and worked in China for many years, i am aware of the difficulty of learning a foreign language. However,i believe that with the right attitude, approach and guidance it is possible to achieve your study goals in any language.
I believe in establishing realistic and quantifiable goals when beginning tutoring for progress to be measured against. I also believe that work done in a student's own time is as important as work done in a formal classroom setting. Regular review of what has been studied is also vital.
