Personal Description:
I am passionate about the subjects I tutor in and education in general. Education forms the foundation for freeing us from bigotry and ignorance, makes us better people and permits us to live richer, better lives. Knowledge is liberating and my subjects especially open many doors. They are not easy and require a willingness to work hard, but I strongly believe that anyone can get to grips with them if given the correct guidance. Most often the problem is not the student but a poor teacher, unresolved conceptual difficulties or lack of motivation. I want to fix these issues for you.

I used to work as a research physicist at Cambridge University in an indefinable capacity. I had several years of poor physical health (fit and healthy now) that made funding an issue, so I was an unofficial PhD student researching quantum computing and foundational issues in physics.

I have always have had a dual interest in the arts and philosophy, literature in particular. I've written a novel and several full length plays as well as directing at the student theatre in Cambridge and making short films. I recently decided to form my own film production company and work full time as a writer and director for films and plays. Our first short film is in production and we are applying for funding for a feature.

I'd say my approach to education is rigorous, highly intellectual and what one might term renaissance in approach. I'm interested in all aspects of education, and how our disparate academic disciplines connect which is somewhat antithetical to the modern approach to education but just the sort of thing one needs to get into Oxbridge and the like.

Why is tutoring important to me? Firstly, I feel it is my responsibility to pass on the knowledge and skills I have attained; secondly, I find it satisfying to help others learn and achieve what they did not think possible, regardless of their ability; and finally, I think one of the best ways to assess your own understanding of a subject is to teach it; we learn the most about our areas of expertise when we try convey their concepts and methods to an audience.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored many (over 100) students privately over the past six years, improving their results in all cases where the students have followed my advice and worked hard

I have experience of teaching children as young as five through to graduates and am happy to work one to one, in small groups or in a classroom.

I also help set up and run and small charity to improve the educational standards of recent immigrants in inner city London where I taught all ages of students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am patient and I persevere. I am happy to tutor people across all ranges of ability but i expect you to work hard and follow my advice.

My tutoring includes:

- free initial consultation with needs assessment and lesson
- encouragement of free and critical thinking
- varying teaching methods depending on what the student is most receptive to including: problem based learning, discourse, traditional exercises, experiments, lectures
- exam preparation
- confidence building
- resolution of conceptual difficulties
- helping with homework
- homework marking
- undergraduate and postgraduate application advice
- coaching for Oxbridge entrance including the STEP papers
- interview advice at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- email contact throughout the week to resolve your problems as an when they arise
- group tuition

Please note (a) while I am based in Hackney, I will cover East, central and South London; (b) I can offer reductions for group sessions.

Personal Description:
I am Moheeb, I am a postgraduate researcher at University of Manchester at MACE Department of Management of Projects. I have my Master of Science (MSc) degree in Project Management.

I am a positive, patient individual with an excellent understanding of practical engineering and business practices as well as lingual practices.

I enjoy teaching because I find great satisfaction in watching someone learn and making progress.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as lecturer in management, business and economics for almost 9 years. Since relocating to Manchester, I am teaching many students as a freelance tutor in Management, Accounting, Maths, Engineering, and Arabic Language in different universities and different regions in UK.

I have taught hundreds of students in different fields and levels (i.e. College, GSCE, A level, and University undergraduate and postgraduates).

I have helped students in their assignments, comprehensions, essays and reports. in addition to helping them in their professional studies.

That said, I have been able to achieve A and A* grades with my tutees over and over again. Are you wanting this too?

Tutoring Approach:

I will always study the needs of students to customise a learning style. I support teaching with as many experiences as possible. I believe my students do not yet understand a concept until they can possibly solve every past paper on it. This is why past paper solving is an integral part of my teaching style.

Personal Description:
I am an Italian professional working in Central London. I have always being passionate about teaching and education - I come from a family of teachers and I was a Scout Leader when I lived in Italy. I attended a Grammar School specializing in Classics but I felt in love with sciences and I ended up graduating with a MSc in biotechnologies. I am a nice and sociable person, really easy to get along with.

Teaching Experience:

As a tutor, I taught Latin for 2 years and I tutored people attending primary and secondary school on various subjects (Italian, English, Maths and Biology).
I have a 6-year experience in educating young people within the Scout Movement.

Tutoring Approach:

My first class is always free, because -
I strongly believe that every student is different so I need time to understand strong and weak points of tutees and the best method to teach them;
Tutees and parents deserve the time to figure out if I am the most qualified person to do the job.

If everybody is happy with what I propose, we can carry on!

Personal Description:
I was born in Sheffield in 1975. After moving to Peterborough, I spent most of my school years as a day pupil at Laxton School, Oundle, during which time my main enjoyment came from sport and music. I studied Natural Sciences at Clare College, Cambridge, specialising in chemistry, the fourth year of which involved an organic synthesis as part of research by the Goodman group.

Since 2002 I have lived in Exeter, working in a variety of contexts including IT, chemistry teaching and advice work for Age Concern. During 2008-9 I completed a PGCE at Exeter University, which involved teaching 16-18 yr olds and adults in IT and chemistry at Exeter College. Since then I have taught chemistry, IT and maths at Exeter College and privately.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching Experience:

Chemistry, ICT and maths teaching at Exeter College (2008-present)

Chemistry teacher at Mander Portman Woodward 5th & 6th form college, Cambridge.(1999-2000)

Chemistry tutor in Cambridge, London and Exeter(1999-present)

Tutoring Approach:

Approach to Tutoring:

My aim is to provide students with as much help as possible when preparing for their exams. This may take the form of:

Homework
Past paper questions
Revision of important topics
Helping with anything that the student wants to go through

Lessons are student orientated. If someone says, "I'm having trouble with these homework questions", then we get on with that topic. A lesson may involve going through questions, understanding notes or doing revision.

I can cover most of the current syllabuses including EdExcel, OCR, AQA and Nuffield.

Initially I recommend students bring along all their notes and textbooks. Then we can work out which are the good ones!

I encourage good study skills, revision skills and exam technique, and can set and mark homework if and when required.

Hello and thanks for taking the time to browse my profile.
I am available to tutor up to any level of Spanish, as well as up to GCSE level French or Maths.

Teaching Experience:

I`m an experienced classroom teacher available for French, Spanish or Maths tuition.

I am now a full time teacher of French and Spanish in one of the top boarding schools in England, having previously worked in an "outstanding" secondary school, where I tutored children (one-to-one) in Maths after school, after having completed a short course in one-to-one tutoring provided by Hertfordshire LEA.
I am also currently studying for my MEd in Educational Psychology, which I hope to complete soon. I have recently completed the CCRS qualification.

Tutoring Approach:

I am able to tailor my lessons to suit the individual needs of each student, whether it be focussed on Speaking, Listening, Reading or Writing (for the languages), or any specific topic for Maths.
I hope to talk to you soon.

Personal Description:
I am currently a second year Civil Engineering student at Imperial College London. Having studied through all levels of school I can appreciate how useful having a source of targeted teaching is, this is the service I hope to provide. Having participated in youth organisations and group bursary projects I have had the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, this allows me to tailor to individuals. I am a STEMNET ambassador for which I volunteer in various schools and teach pupils how to apply classroom knowledge to real world scenarios. I play hockey in my spare time as well as recreationally painting to focus my time on activities outside of work.

Teaching Experience:

Currently I am enrolled in a "Mum's & Dad's" scheme in university, for which I am assigned three first year students to whom I am a mentor, helping them with work issues or general university issues.
During my time at secondary school and sixth form, I worked in sessions with younger students during which time we would cover material which they were struggling with.
Participated in a youth organisation, BSS Shaka, for which in my role as a senior member would organise and run weekly workshops which focused upon cultural learning as well as sporting activities.

Tutoring Approach:

Methods for teaching are subject to the individual therefore I strive to find a method which worst best for both parties. Aside from teaching the core syllabus I also would like to know what you struggle with such that more emphasis can be put upon that. I prefer to set up a dialog with my students such that the teaching is more interactive. I will prepare a lesson plan, and set students questions to work on between sessions; anything which they are unsure of can be covered in the next session.

Personal Description:
I am a Natural Sciences MSci undergraduate studying Chemistry at the University of Cambridge and a scholar of Jesus College. I am also currently working in the Balasubramanian Group as a research student. In 2012, I was also a visiting student at ETH Zürich, in the Laboratory of Surface Science and Technology. I would very much like to share my interest in science by teaching; there are few things more pleasing to me than successfully helping a student.

Outside academia, my main interest is music. I have a DipABRSM Diploma in Piano Performance, and hold a Jesus College Instrumental Award. I am also an oboist, playing notably in our school production of "Oliver!" and in the Cambridge University Music Society. I am also a keen badminton player, and was President of the college society.

Teaching Experience:

I have had 8 pupils to date, with whom I have had good relationships. I also have helped OxbridgeSciences, a tuition program focusing on university entry to Cambridge and Oxford. Throughout my academic career, I have often informally tutored my peers. At school, I was an assistant in Maths Surgery, reinforcing understanding of core material. I also helped at Maths and Science Masterclasses, encouraging and challenging the brightest children in our local area.
I have also taught beginners' piano to young children and tutored ABRSM Music Theory up to Grade 5.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to be as flexible as possible when tutoring, as I believe that teaching should be adapted for different learning styles and situations. The eventual results should however be similar - a strong and fundamental understanding of core concepts, the ability to apply these concepts in any capacity and the motivation & confidence to become a self-sufficient learner. Whether I achieve this by encouraging independent thinking or by developing skills in revision and exam technique is up to the student.

I am also very willing to assist in university applications for mathematics, natural sciences and medicine, both with the personal statement and interviews. I have helped many of my younger friends successfully through the process and my teachers have given me a good understanding of selection process.

Regarding music, I am willing to teach the piano, ABRSM Aurals for practical exams up to Grade 8 and ABRSM Music Theory up to Grade 5.

Personal Description:
I'm a young, enthusiastic individual currently reading English Literature at the University of Exeter. My qualifications reflect my interests and hobbies, but I am also keenly interested in other cultures, and enjoy travel. Next year, I will be learning Japanese as part of my degree, and hope to join the cheerleading, riding and sailing societies.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience working with younger children, having been a prefect at two different schools. With French in particular, however, I am used to helping classmates, particularly in allowing them to practise their spoken French. Presentation and communication skills were a big part of all of my A-Level subjects, and are extremely important in my degree, so I have a wealth of experience in how to make subjects interesting for anyone!

Tutoring Approach:

It's definitely cliché to say that every child learns differently, but I think that it is definitely true! Having just come out of the schooling system, what worked best is fresh in my mind. I would definitely encourage online learning and practice, as well as more creative exercises as far as possible, particularly for younger children. For more advanced qualifications, I know the importance of correctly interpreting mark schemes, as well as covering the entirety of the syllabus. I'd be happy to help you get a head start over the summer, or simply revise and consolidate what you learnt last year.

Personal Description:
I am a keen, enthusiastic and passionate tutor who has just completed a Masters' degree and a Geography degree, both from Oxford University. I am about to complete the GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law) at BPP, London (Waterloo). I have demonstrated sustained academic success since the age of 13 when I won two scholarships to Westminster School (Queen's Scholarship) and Haberdashers' Aske's, Elstree (Top Scholarship).

My subsequent qualifications are outlined below:

12 A* GCSEs (incl. full marks in English Language and Literature),

4 "A"A-Level Grades August 2009 in Mathematics (MEI), Geography, History and Biology also at Westminster School.

Highly Commended Prize Essays on 'Global Warming: An Inconvenient Truth or Convenient Untruth?' and 'Biofuels should no longer be considered as a weapon against climate change.'

BA (Hons.) Geography at Jesus College, Oxford 2009-2012.
First (Distinction) achieved in Prelim University 1st Year Exams, July 2010
Academic Scholarship Awarded for 2010-2012

MSc. Criminology & Criminal Justice: Green Templeton College, University Oxford, 2012-2013

Teaching Experience:

Very experienced tutor; over 140 hours of tutoring experience from 11+ to university interview preparation. I am a top tier tutor at other agencies.

My last four tutees have attained the highest academic achievements:
One gained a place reading Land Economy at Cambridge University,
ALL three of my 13+ candidates received places at EVERY one of the schools they applied for. Two of these three even achieved academic scholarships.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe there are a number of key principles to tutoring.
1) RAPPORT - each tutee is different and it is important not to have a set formula when working with each student, or even for each class. In my opinion, there should be an emphasis on identifying the needs of the student and working towards these goals.
2) TARGETS - what are we working towards, how we can get there and isolating areas for improvement.
3) PRACTICE - regular testing, from past papers to 4) GENERAL EXAM TECHNIQUE.

Employing these four principles as a foundation, tutoring can be productive and enjoyable and I have a number of testimonies to illustrate this point. For instance, last summer, I worked with an A-Level Geography candidate who was able to get their grade from an E at AS Level to an overall high B grade for their entire A Level.

I will first figure out what kind of learner my student is and build lessons around them. No person learns the same so that is the first and most important step. I will not allow my student to feel as if they are worthless and they will build confidence while learning the subject.
