Personal Description:
See what some of my previous students have to say about me:

Samuel has a quiet and unassuming manner which worked well with our lively teenage son who had previously been a little disinterested in Maths. Our son commented:- "that he had understood more from Samuel in three months than during his entire GCSE course at full time school ".
I commend Samuel highly. He is honest, friendly, reliable, quiet and exceptionally well qualified. He has a very good understanding of a child's needs and personality. Our son's result speaks for itself.
(John, Wallingford)

In my son's own words - "I wish all my teachers at school would take the same approach, I am able to understand & grasp his teaching methods clearly."
(Etrily, Didcot)

You were patient and calm in all your dealings with Lucy.
Thank you for your help and best wishes for the future.
(Rhonda, Wootton)

We are absolutely delighted with the work Samuel has done with our daughter. She has gained enormous confidence through his patience and wonderfully clear instruction. Never an academic high flier, she has moved on leaps and bounds through his help. We have had outside help before, but none with the success she has achieved with Samuel. We have the highest confidence in him and would recommend him to any friend.
(Dr Bart, Oxford)

I found Samuel to be pleasant, patient and thorough and my son was pleased to find that he was able to discuss some topics in which he was particularly interested, at a greater depth than was actually required for the exams, during the lessons. I am pleased to say that my son achieved A grades in Physics, Chemistry and Biology on the higher tier papers this summer, following his revision sessions with Samuel.
(Lynda, Blewbury)

Samuel's tuition helped me to understand and achieve a good grade in a subject that I found difficult. He was easy to talk to and willing to go over and over concepts until I understood. Without Samuel's help, I would not have achieved the grade I did.
(Georgia, Didcot)

I think that Samuel helped me significantly in my physics work, having the chance to work one on one with someone that clearly understands the subject to a great depth is far better than the class room environment.
(Elliot, Harwell)

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher, with six years' experience of teaching at secondary school. I also have over six years' experience of one-to-one teaching. I have helped students of all levels of ability prepare for their exams. Get in touch to discuss how I can help you too.

Tutoring Approach:

It can be easy to get lost in a class. Private tuition, though, is all about you. What you need, what you find confusing, what you want to learn.

Come to a session with an area you want to go over, a topic you don't understand or just some homework that you don't get. I promise you that no question will ever be too stupid, no matter how many times you think you have asked it before. We will go over it until we find a way that makes sense to you.

When you don't understand a topic, it is usually because there are some gaps in your knowledge further back - especially in subjects like maths and science. I will help you to find those gaps and fill them in. This often means that topics that used to be just a confusing mass of rules and equations suddenly start to make sense.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Personal Description:
I have a degree in English Literature from the University of East Anglia where I also studied Creative Writing.

I am a freelance writer (mostly book reviews and articles on literature for the Guardian) and in 2013 I had my first book published by Transworld: Dedicated to... (a collection of found book-inscriptions which received some very nice national press).

I am currently writing my debut novel.

Teaching Experience:

I began tutoring in 2014. Subjects taught so far have included Shakespeare (Macbeth) and Browning's Porphyria's Lover. (References available on demand). I have a good knowledge of literature and am able to research topics thoroughly and quickly.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe literature is best taught with enthusiasm, thereby making it accessable and less intimidating. Once a basic understanding of the work has been achieved it is easier to explore the more complex themes such as character, imagery, dramatic arc, etc.

Personal Description:
I am Matt, I've a Bsc(Hons),,majoring Physics,Mathematics and Chemistry. Currently I am doing a PhD in Quantum Physics . I am very enthusiastic about teaching . its kind of a hobby of mine and its my ultimate passion. I believe I have enough qualifications and experience to be your tutor. As a human being I think I have enough patience and good sense of humor. and I am a good listener.( REFERENCES ARE AVAILABLE FROM MY STUDENTS). I have many hobbies and interests some of them are, Teaching, writing, Yoga, Meditation, Music, Traveling, Swimming, Archery, Kick boxing, Quantum Entanglement, Quantum Teleportation, BioPhysics, Epigenetics, building Power Amplifiers ,Telekinesis, Linux, Unix, C programming, General Relativity,.. etc. My First lesson would be free of charge.

Teaching Experience:

I've been tutoring since 2005. Since then I have taught many students from different backgrounds with different abilities. and taught at different levels (up to undergraduate level, for many examination boards, AQA, EDEXEL,OCR, MEI, IB, JEB,CIE, IGCSE, etc. including home schooling students.) I think so far I have given my best to my students to reach their academic goals. I hope to do the same in the future. (*If you want References are available from my students)

Tutoring Approach:

I believe each student is unique. and as a tutor I respect that uniqueness .Basically my first step towards a new student would be, to understand his/her uniqueness , hence find the student's weakness and strengths . so I would be able to help the student to overcome his/her weakness and strengthen pupil's current knowledge.

I may use different styles of teaching methods, depending on the student's ability and attitude. My main method is "student first" method. That is, I would first listen to the student what he/she got to say about a particular problem. and then I would guide the student to work through that problem and come to the correct solution ( here the student will be actively involve in solving the problem than just listening to the tutor) . More often I would use everyday life experiences to explain what I teach. and I may use reductionism method . i.e. breaking down a large problem to small parts when its appropriate . This method can be very efficient dealing with problems in maths, physics and chemistry.

I have learnt through my tutoring experience, the main reasons why students achieve lower grades. they are...

*Lack of Knowledge and Understanding in fundamentals ,
*Lack of right practice ( Including Exam practice),
*Lack of time management skills in exam situations,
*Lack of knowledge and practice to recognize the keywords/key sentences in exam questions
*Lack of proper Writing Skills,
*Above factors would lead to Lower SELF CONFIDENCE
So I would put lot of emphasis on the above factors in my tutoring practice to give the maximum opportunity to my students to attain better grades.

Whatever approach I may use to teach , I will be always friendly and I will always be willing to help the student to overcome her/his weaknesses and sharpen the current knowledge.

Personal Description:
Hello,

I am a French native living in the UK since 2011. I am enjoying my new life in London.

Currently workin as a Care Assistant in a nursing home, I am also studying to get a teaching qualification. I have been doing one-to-one tuition for a few years now.

My students usually describe me as friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, patient and dedicated (based on students' satisfaction survey carried out by the school)

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor in French since 2012.

I have worked with people of all ages and abilities from primary school children to adult learners.

I have helped many young people improve their level in French and achieve great results for their GCSE'S and A Level's.

I also taught evening classes with a private Language School for one year in 2012 and have gained an amazing experience in teaching. I am really enjoying sharing my knowledge and seeing my students improving, asking useful questions, and having fun after all, speaking a new language as if they had always known it.

Tutoring Approach:

Different abilities and learning difficulties are all taken into consideration to give each student a personalised work plan to meet their needs and expectations in an approach that is non judgmental.

Students are not been made to "feel stupid" about their mistakes but encouraged to learn from them.

The advantages of one-to-one tuition :

-Work on a specific skill (eg. Speaking, listening, writing or grammar)
-Learn from scratch at your own pace
-Boost your confidence (eg. You may be shy to speak in your classroom, or maybe you learned French at school years ago and need some extra help before a trip to France)
-Help your child to learn faster at school in early years.

Regular practice and commitment are strongly advised for best learning results.

NB : I travel to the tutee for free up to 7 miles radius, an additional fee may be required for longer travel distance.

Personal Description:
I am a retired police officer who has retrained as an EFL teacher. My main hobbies are keeping fit at the gym, music, reading, playing tennis, cinema, concerts and travel. As a person I am empathic, patient and kind. I am interested in current affairs both in the UK and worldwide.

Teaching Experience:

During my career I spent 5 years teaching IT in industry. As a police officer I spent 7 years in the Training Department teaching IT as well as Communications Skills, First Aid, Law and Force Policy.

Since retiring I have passed a CELTA course and have taught English in Vietnam for 3 months and Mexico for 4 months as well as a short contract in a high school in Austria. In the UK I have taught at a residential Easter School and two residential Summer Schools, teaching children and adults of all ages and from beginner to advanced level.

Tutoring Approach:

I apply to tutoring the same skills that I have used during my extensive time as a trainer - I motivate by encouragement, patience and praise, and use a teaching approach that will suit the learning style of my student. I also enforce strict deadlines and standards in order to maximise the learner's gain from the teaching time and to ensure that they use their study time wisely and efficiently. My attitude towards learners is that the only silly question is the one which they want to ask but don't, and that if they do not understand something then it requires me to explain it in a different way. I believe that if a learner enjoys their study they will gain a lot more from it, so endeavour to make lessons and tasks interesting and relevant.

Personal Description:
I obtained First Class Honours for my LL.B (Hons) and have qualified as a barrister after completing the bar course (obtaining a Very Competent grade). I have recently completed an LL.M in International Law obtaining a Distinction overall and in each constituent element of the course. I am working as a tutor pending the start of the pupillage stage of my training in 2016.

I started my legal training as a mature student after many years in finance and have good, practical business experience.

I am able to tutor in most humanities subjects but in particular, History, English and Law. I have successfully tutored in the past both mature students and those for whom English is not their first language.

Teaching Experience:

In my previous career I was frequently responsible for the training and development of new school leavers.

As a mature student at university I mentored and helped my peers to understand the subjects being taught.

I have been tutoring for over a year with typically excellent results for my students.

I have tutored students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I am seeking to work as a tutor as I prefer the more intense and tailored approach which can be taken with individual students or small groups of students.

My approach is tailored to the individual student's needs. Whether the student is seeking support for short term projects or throughout the academic year I am able to quickly build a good working relationship which facilitates tutoring and enables the student to derive the best results from our sessions.

I believe in building a good, solid basis of knowledge and understanding on which the student can develop their own thoughts and theories enabling a full, in-depth understanding of the subject.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated from Cambridge University with a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences. I achieved top grades in my GCSE and A-levels, as well as winning various national academic prizes such as the National Institute of Medical Research Human Biology Essay Competition. I am currently studying graduate-entry medicine at Kings College London.

I have had a lot of practice with university interviews, especially in medicine and science. I am willing to offer interview practice for sixth-form students to help university applications.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 200 hours of tutoring experience from 11+ to GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

Although my main aim in tutoring is to help students achieve top grades in their exams, I also like to bring in relevant information from my degree and current medical studies. I feel that this helps to contextualise the subject, making it more relevant and interesting.

From previous experience and feedback, I feel that I am an approachable and friendly tutor with the aim of maximising the potential of all my students.

Personal Description:
I am a professional actress based in South London. I graduated from the Musical Theatre course at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts with a 1st Class BA (hons) degree in 2010 and have since worked professionally on the West End and in many areas of the performing arts industry.

Teaching Experience:

Since graduating I have taught students from the age of 5 to 21 in acting, singing and dance, privately and at many Stage Schools in London.

Over the past two years I have come to specialise in LAMDA Examinations. I have a 100% pass rate with the majority of my students passing with Merits or Distinctions. I have found that taking LAMDA exams has helped my students develop their imagination and creative thinking, enhance their communication skills and confidence, refine acting skills, and expand their knowledge of plays, poems and literature.

LAMDA Examinations can be taken in a wealth of subjects (Acting, Verse and Prose, Musical Theatre, Reading for Performance, Public Speaking and Using Spoken English) they are a recognised vocational qualification which will help towards school, college, university and drama and dance school entrance. The Level 3 LAMDA Exams (Grades 6, 7, and 8 - the Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal Exams) are further recognised within the UCAS Tariff. These exams are a fantastic way to measure your progress as a performer against an international standard and to be rewarded with certificates and medals to acknowledge your hard work and talent.

Tutoring Approach:

Acting can be a wonderful way to encourage confidence and imagination in people, whether young or old, even if it not necessarily a career path you wish to pursue. While I undoubtedly have a wealth of experience in coaching for LAMDA Examinations and the professional audition field, I am also very keen to work simply for the joy of the subject!

I deliberately tailor make sessions to each individual, and have an extensive knowledge of both classical and modern plays. I choose speeches to suit each individual student and will never assign anyone a speech they do not truly relish speaking or enjoy playing the part of. It's not what acting is about for me, and besides exams and auditioning can be painful enough without being able to speak a speech you love!

I am patient, honest and approachable. I genuinely care about getting the best out of my students and thoroughly enjoy seeing them improve and grow in confidence.

I specialize in study skills, writing, history (particularly intersections of race, class, and gender), and voice! I am very interested in teaching voice lessons and I will be able to help with basic music theory as well as vocal coaching as I am a jazz, musical theater, and classical singer. If you have ever wanted to sing, but feel you lack the confidence or technique to do so, I would be glad to help. I don't have a piano, but I'd be happy to meet at a practice room in London, or just use backing tracks on my laptop. As far as history, writing, and study skills, I would be more than happy to edit essays, show you how to improve your arguments, and teach you more about the methods of studying history. I can travel anywhere the tubes will take me, but I prefer zones 1 and 2. We could easily meet at a library, coffee shop, or bookstore. Also, I am available Monday after 12pm and every other day except for Tuesdays!

Teaching Experience:

English as a foreign Language for Roeland (Belgian summer camps)-advanced English
Math and English tutor in Boston (Prospect Hill Academy)-preparation for standardized exams
Engineering and math instructor for Girl Scout Camps
Singing lessons for students and Tufts University

Tutoring Approach:

I will first assess what you need to learn, what your skill set is at the moment, and how long we have to work together. Then I will develop a plan with very tangible end goals and milestones along the way. If you only need one session, of course we shall expedite this process. Everything will be catered to your needs!
