Personal Description:
I am a PhD student at King's College London researching history and historiography in medieval England. I am fluent in French having graduated magna cum laude from the Universit de Lorraine in France with a B.A in History. Then I was awarded an M.A in Medieval history from Kings College London.

Before moving to London, I lived for five years in Luxembourg, worked for the BBC as a magazine editor and studied for a term in Krakow on an ERASMUS scholarship.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained teaching experience from tutoring English to French students while in Metz, France. I have also worked with orphans in Romania and helped children with their homework, which gave me much satisfaction and a new perspective on teaching. I thus learned to be patient and flexible while making sure the expected result becomes real.

I also gave a short series of lectures in palaeography at the Romanian embassy in Luxembourg.

From September 2012 I shall be teaching undergraduate classes at King's College London.

Tutoring Approach:

Having stockpiled experience from all the countries and cultures in which I studied, I aim to have a very flexible approach to teaching, though not willing to compromise on quality and expectations. I bring along a vast depository of information and theoretical knowledge and most of all, in teaching French or Latin, I can make learning a very pleasant experience by exploring relationships of these two languages with the other Romance offshoots. I have a passion for etymology and linguistic anecdote so learning or mastering a language is bound to be both fulfilling and exciting.

As languages do not evolve independent of literature, I am prepared to offer insights into both classical Latin and French literature as well as the evolution of these languages across centuries, for those who expect even more from the study of Latin or French.

I am demanding and rigorous but fun to work with and understanding. I cannot promise to get you where you want, but what I can promise is that I won't stop until you're there.

Personal Description:
I am hoping to study Physics at Sussex University in September and I have always enjoyed Maths and the Sciences. I attended King Edward VI Grammar School.

Teaching Experience:

I've tutored a few Key Stage 3 pupils and thoroughly enjoyed this. I also used to instruct cadets in my school's cadet force and I took part in a project to teach year 9 pupils ICT.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to tutor through example, helping the pupil work through several questions before allowing them to attempt one themselves. I find this allows the pupils to understand the process through which the question is completed.

Personal Description:
I am a first year student at Kings College London studying BA English Language and Communications. I studied English Language, English Literature and History at A-Level and have been an avid reader and writer from a very young age. At age 12 I had a poem published in a young authors poetry collection called 'Forever Spoken'. I am passionate about these subjects and feel that I could make a valuable contribution to the education of primary/11-14/GCSE students.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst studying my A-levels I worked as a literacy aid for GCSE students who struggled with their English reading/writing/comprehension. This involved reading with the students once a week in order to test their reading and comprehension skills as well as testing them on grammar, punctuation, lexis and semantics.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring would be to come to an understanding with the student as to which areas they feel need the most work. I would then create a targeted plan on a timescale, breaking up the areas into modules in order to focus on each individual issue. From my experience as a literacy aid I have found that sometimes students just have to approach a subject they struggle with from a different angle, or use a different thought process. I would also set the student assignments each week to make sure that they are going back and revising the topics. I believe it is important to teach languages in a fun way to capture the student's attention, therefore I try to incorporate interactive activities/games into my lessons to keep the children's minds active and interested.

Personal Description:
I am an extremely enthusiastic and determined individual, with a deep interest in mathematics and the allied sciences. To this end, I have participated in many Olympiads and have attended several maths and physics masterclasses in London, as well as two summer schools.

I'd enjoy the opportunity of tutoring at GCSE and A-level as I am not only confident at these stages, but enjoy breaking down concepts into their simplest forms, a skill I initially found challenging when I first started tutoring.

I am currently studying maths at Christ`s College, Cambridge. I therefore have a solid grounding in both maths and physics, which is constantly being refreshed and challenged!

Teaching Experience:

Tutored both A-level and GCSE maths over a period of 6 months last year.

Tutored my cousins in GCSE physics and chemistry 2 years ago.

Ran economics 'help sessions' for my school's economics society

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring must be adapted for different styles and levels. I have tutored a range of students previously, and understand that different people learn at different rates, and in very different ways. I would look firstly to cement the basic concepts so that students have a firm grasp of each topic area. I then try to challenge the students as much as possible, to allow the tutee to gain confidence whilst constantly recapping on the basics.

Maths and science subjects must be tackled with significant practice - multiple questions on similar topics allows students to consolidate their learning and see the links between topics.

Personal Description:
I am a Spanish native speaker from Madrid, currently working as a Spanish Language Assistant in a High School (years 7 to 13) in Greater London. I studied Translation and Interpreting with Spanish, English and French and I am passionate about languages, especially about teaching Spanish as a second language.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a private tutor for more than seven years. I have been a tutor for primary, secondary and adult students, English (as a second language) and Spanish language and literature. I have also worked as a MFL teacher in an academy (secondary school students).

I also volunteered as a Spanish Assistant in the University of East Anglia (Norwich, UK) for one semester.

Currently, I am working as a Spanish assistant in a High School (yrs 7-13).

References can be provided upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

As said before, 95% of my teaching experience is based on tutoring. I started tutoring when I was in High School, to get extra money, and my first tutoring approach was with my classmates. After that, as my first tutees got a good progression and excellent results, I started tutoring students from out of the school, and I have done that ever since, always focusing on each student's necessities and analyzing progression.

Personal Description:
I am a French student who settled in the UK in October. I am curretly living in Southend and I work in Westcliff High School for Girls as a French Assistant. I only work in the mornings, which gives me a lot of free time to give private lessons!

Teaching Experience:

I have already given private English lessons to French students (usually in secondary school) and I currently teach French in an English high school.

Tutoring Approach:

When it comes to private teaching, I usually give lessons inspired by what the student really likes (films, music, books etc...), I prepare different exercises in advance if necessary. I insist a lot on oral practise too in order to check if the pronunciation is good.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and professional tutor, with experience teaching a wide range of students. Outside of tutoring, I am outgoing, and enjoy riding and skiing. I also enjoy my subject, and love the theatre!

In October 2014, I will start pupillage with a criminal chambers, and am looking to enjoy a summer of tutoring before this.

I have been CRB checked for previous jobs, and can provide one from 2012.

Teaching Experience:

I have an undergraduate degree in Law from University College, London. I graduated in 2009 with a first class degree and two academic prizes.

After completing my degree, I completed the Teach First programme. I am therefore a fully qualified teacher. I completed my PGCE in Secondary School English and gained a distinction. I completed my masters dissertation on the teaching methods available to gifted students. Between 2010-2012, I taught at an English secondary school, and was repeatedly graded as outstanding by OFSTED. I was also a housemistress.

Between 2012-2013, I completed the BCL at Oxford University. I graduated with a merit, with a distinction in my Medical law module. During this time, I was employed as a private tutor through Greene's tutorial college, and was able to bring several C students up to A* or A in time for either their GCSE or A Level exams.

Since October 2013, I have been studying for the BPTC. Whilst completing this course, I have been employed by both University College London and St Hilda's College, Oxford. I taught first year Criminal law at Oxford and I taught first year Criminal law and third year Evidence law at UCL.

Tutoring Approach:

I have experience teaching a range of ages and abilities, and believe in tailoring my teaching to match my student. I also believe in having clearly structured and well planned tutorials. In order to achieve this, I use multi-media, especially power-points, which I prepare and supply in advance. This ensures that the student can fully prepare and understands the purpose and goals of each tutorial. It also ensures that students have a record of the work they have completed, which they can use as revision or to support their subsequent learning.

I also aim to have a range of tasks that complement the student's level, interest and learning style. This method avoids repetition and boredom during the tutorial. These tasks often rely on the modelling approach, which involves demonstration by the tutor, followed by repetition by the student, along with discussion points throughout.

Personal Description:
I recently graduated with a Masters in Physics at the University of Exeter. I love my subject and it is a great privilege that I get to teach it. In the rest of my time I like to get involved with charity work and this year the other half of my week will be spent interning with an international development organisation in Teddington.

I'm very friendly and approachable - please message me if you have any questions.

Teaching Experience:

I've experience tutoring students at a variety of levels. Before I began tutoring, I volunteered in lower set maths classes and in GCSE Maths after school preparation classes. I've also worked with young people in youth clubs and spent two months as a senior counsellor at a camp in Pennsylvania.

Tutoring Approach:

It's important ensure a solid understanding of the basic concepts. Establishing key areas where the student feels confident creates a good foundation on which to build. Students need to be actively engaged in their learning so I will always give them space and guidance to work out the answer for themselves.
