Personal Description:
I am a 24 year old Physics graduate from the University of Birmingham. I have a passion for mathematics and physics, and enjoy teaching others.

Teaching Experience:

I have privately tutored both children and adults in GCSE and A-level Mathematics and Physics, to great success, often turning a fail into a good pass. I have a passion for the fields I teach, and am always happy to go that extra mile to ensure my students get the very best result they can.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to first gauge the individuals needs, liaising with their primary educator if possible, and designing a catered learning plan from there. From there, I and the tutee can focus on those topics that need the most attention. Assessing home work, school work, and past papers, would also be included.

Personal Description:
Does your child struggle with maths or English? Are they falling behind at school?
Maybe they need a bit of a boost ready for SATs or 11+?

I specialise in helping children who are struggling, and over the past few years have achieved some excellent results!

My qualifications are as follows:
BEd Primary Qualified Teacher Status (subject specialism English) (2003)

British Dyslexia Association and Unicorn Maths- `Dyscalculia Plus` (2012)

Modules towards Masters in Education, completed this year:
`Educational enquiry` (research in education) (2013)
`Investigating language in Action`(supporting learners of English) (2012)
`Difficulties in literacy development` (specifically dyslexia) (2008)

BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies (Learning and development 0-8 years) (1999)

9 GCSE`s all A-C:
Child Development, English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, French, History, Religious Education, Science. (1997)

Teaching Experience:

My specialist subject is English and Special Educational Needs. I have trained to teach dyslexic students, and recently completed a course with the British Dyslexia Association on how to assess and teach children with dyscalculia.

I taught in an inner city school for 8 years. Here, I gained experience with children aged 3-11, from different backgrounds and cultures, and with a wide variety of needs.
I have also worked with many children to overcome confidence and self esteem issues, resulting in much better performance in class.

As a tutor, I am currently working with children who have a range of needs. These include:
dyslexia
dyspraxia
dyscalculia (difficulty with maths)
self esteem or confidence issues
children who struggle at school due to emotional or behavioural problems
children who have missed school due to illness or special needs
I am also working with a number of children who are home schooled.

As well as teaching, I have worked in a variety of settings as a nursery nurse and nanny. I have been able to build excellent relationships with parents and children and am still in touch with families that I have worked with over the years.
More recently I have taught online, up to university level. I have supported teacher training students with their studies and lesson planning.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very calm, patient and friendly approach to teaching. A child who is not relaxed and confident simply will not reach their full potential. I build excellent relationships with students, and they look forward to my lessons.
I like to vary my teaching sessions (depending on age) using, for example, direct teaching, problem solving, quizzes, practical `hands-on` activities, time for the child to ask questions. Children can find it hard to sit at a desk for an hour or more, so I find that lots of short activities hold the children`s interest and make them much more enthusiastic about learning.
I like to use technology in my teaching as there are some fantastic resources available that can really enhance learning. Also, using computers and other technological devices can really help gain a child`s attention and make learning more fun!

Please contact me if you think I am the tutor you have been looking for!

Personal Description:
I am a professional and dedicated native English teacher with years of experience behind me.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained TEFL experience within varied teaching roles, both abroad and in the UK. In my previous roles I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults in companies, schools, and summer camps. I have taught General English, Business English, and exam classes to groups and one-to-one students in school and business environments. I also have experience of teaching students with dyslexia. This variety has enabled me to continually assess my style of teaching and keep me on my toes!

Working in such roles has given me crucial insight into the needs of the student. I am extremely patient and understand the frustration that can arise when learning, whether it is a new language or subject. I realise that people acquire knowledge through varied means so I am keen to adjust my teaching style to benefit my students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a mature, responsible, and eclectic teaching approach, as well as a good sense of humour, is crucial for a successful learning environment.

I offer a custom-made service, whether you need to improve your general English skills, your writing, or simply build your confidence. I also have years of experience in teaching Business English and Exam English (IELTS/FCE/CAE). Whatever you need help with, I am happy to focus my lessons on what you require.

I offer Skype lessons and professional proofreading for people who may not be able to meet face-to-face.

I am available to tutor at your home, workplace, or in a quiet cafe in Cambridge. I can also tutor in Central London.

Personal Description:
I moved from Henley-on-Thames to Bampton in October 2011. I currently work three days a week in an independent girls' school in Exeter, providing one-to-one support for a girl in Year 9 and also teaching English Literature to a Year 13 'A' level class.

I have a passion for the written word and its performance in poetry and drama.

I am a mother with three grown-up children and very interested in how young people view and contribute to the world in which they live.

I hold a First Class Honours BA degree in English and Classics from the University of Reading and hope to start a part-time MA course in English Studies at Exeter University later this year, with a view to finding an area of research for a doctoral thesis.

I can offer lessons in my home in Bampton or in a student's home within a 25 mile radius, including Exeter, Taunton, Tiverton and Wellington. Tuition is also available online via email and Skype. Travelling to a student's home may incur a small mileage charge but this would be subject to various factors and established prior to the first lesson.

Teaching Experience:

In addition to working in a school in Exeter (outlined above), I have been a highly successful English tutor for the past seven years, based in the South-East. Working both through a tuition company, Howland Tutors in Marlow, and directly with clients in the Marlow and Henley-on-Thames areas, I have tutored students in English Language & Literature from KS1 to 'A' level. I also work with undergraduates in various disciplines, providing guidance in the structure of their essays, particularly dissertations, and academic writing.

I also have experience in helping adults with their business English and have written marketing copy for the commercial sector.

UPDATE AUGUST 2012 - Another amazing year of exam results. A recent contact through UK Tutors, living in Instow, had 10 lessons with me, one in person the remainder via Skype, and achieved A* grade in both English Language and Literature at GCSE. Similar success stories throughout GCSE,'A' level and undergraduate students in this academic year.

Tutoring Approach:

When I tutor a student, I search for a 'tailor-made' way to help increase their self-esteem and confidence. This enhances the learning they already receive in the classroom. The study of texts offers student and tutor alike not only an opportunity to develop communication one with another but also insight into the life experiences of others, both in past generations and the wider world today.

I have achieved an 100% success rate over the last seven years in helping students to achieve higher than their predicted grades at both GCSE and 'A' level and have many excellent references available. My students have come from the public, private and state school sectors and varying levels of academic ability.

Personal Description:
I attended St George's College, Weybridge, and then subsequently Trinity College, University of Oxford where I completed my undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature. I am now completing a Masters part-time at Wolfson College, Cambridge in Advanced Subject Teaching. I also hold the Open University MA in English.

After graduation I worked at a large Academy in South-East London where I was part of the management team, specifically with responsibility for Gifted and Talented provision.

Unsurprisingly for an English teacher I love reading and the theatre, but I try to spend my holidays and free-time outdoors.

Teaching Experience:

I am a full-time English teacher working in a large, HMC independent school. I teach ages 11-18 English Language and English Literature. As part of my role I am involved in the marking and setting of entrance exams, as well as moderation of coursework and other assessments.

I am currently an examiner for AS English Literature and have previously examined A2 English.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the best tutoring occurs when there are focused objectives and the student is motivated to learn. To ensure every student is motivated I work hard to build confidence with a variety of activities and a positive approach that is full of praise. I work carefully within the assessment objectives set down for each exam or task to ensure that the time is used most effectively.

I have experience of individual tuition for 11+, 13+, GCSE, A-Level and Oxbridge. I have also successfully mentored students for entry into Yale and other Ivy League schools, helping them structure their admissions essays and projects. I have supervised students at residential revision schools in Hampshire and Essex, as well as having tutored 25 3-day holiday and weekend sessions for a major revision company.

Personal Description:
Oxford Engineering Masters graduate, providing engagement tutoring for all ages and abilities.

A Levels Mathematics (A), Physics (A), Chemistry (A)
GCSE's: 11 GCSE's: A* - A

Teaching Experience:

Since leaving university I have spent 5 years teaching students over a range of different abilities and pride myself on being approachable, as well as making the lessons engaging. I am happy to work around any curriculum, and to specific student needs.

Tutoring Approach:

Included free of charge in the first lesson is a lengthy discussion (with parents if required) to understand the students strengths and weaknesses and to establish a clear programme. This structured approach will be followed throughout; using materials from a variety of sources to ensure that maximum benefit is achieved during the lessons.

I prepare for all lessons to ensure that the time spent with the student is as productive as possible. In addition I pride myself of exam technique, which I believe plays a key role to success in maths and science.

Personal Description:
I am a Master of Physics graduate from the University of Bristol carrying a 2:1 degree. I am currently studying a PGCE in physics with Mathematics and I would like to broaden my teaching experience, offering private tuition to those who need extra help to achieve the best possible grade.

I am a reserved, calm and understanding individual whose passion for education is rivalled only by my enjoyment helping others to learning.

I live in Enfield and I am willing to drive locally, say within 15 miles.

Teaching Experience:

As a private tutor I have had experience working with children with special educational needs and dyslexia, and I understand the patience needed to fully support them, boost their confidence and provide them with fun yet informative tuition.

I have also had placements in local schools, observing lessons and teaching styles, whilst providing support to the teacher and helping students to understand the material.

Tutoring Approach:

My personal teaching method is based on patience; helping the child to develop an understanding of the course material leaving them confident that they can tackle any questions that they may face. I believe that a child must be challenged in order to succeed, and I will provide surplus material and learning support that is not provided by regular school teachers.

I aim to maintain a positive, fun and interesting learning environment that will keep the tutee entertained whilst developing an enjoyment for the subject and a true understanding of the course material. I will also be available at all times by e-mail or mobile, for emergency support or general questions.
