Personal Description:
I am currently a doctoral researcher undertaking my PhD at The University of Glasgow, while teaching and tutoring for The University of Glasgow, The University of the West of Scotland and independently through various tutoring agencies.

I hold a BA (Hons) undergraduate degree and an MLitt (Master of Letters) postgraduate degree. I am a qualified personal tutor in 15 subject areas. mainly around English and the arts. I do some freelance writing and have contributed numerous articles to the website Helium, most of which are voted number one in their category, I have had several articles published in society newsletters and publications, including The International Crosby Circle and The Sinatra Music Society. I have organised an international conference, departmental postgraduate symposiums and have chaired panels and presented papers at these events.

Teaching Experience:

I have several academia based jobs:

I have been a GTA (Graduate Teaching Assistant) for The University of Glasgow for the past three years, where I teach undergraduate students; independently structure and run seminars; and grade essays.

I am a Top-Up Tutor for The University of Glasgow and as a Step Up to University lecturer for University of the West of Scotland, where I go into schools and prepare S5 and S6 students for university by giving lecturers; running on-campus seminars; grading essays; providing feedback on performance; and helping students write their UCASE personal statements.

I am a REACH tutor for The University of Glasgow where I help prepare S4-S6 students for applying to the professional degrees of medicine, law, dentistry and vet medicine. This involves in-school sessions, on campus sessions and a week long summer school in June.

I am a Proof Reader, Note Taker, Tutor, Transcriber, and Support Worker for the disability service at The University of Glasgow and The University of the West of Scotland.

I am a personal tutor (both online and off--line) and have experience teaching in severalsubject areas including English, English Language, English Literature, Media Studies, Film Studies, Theatre Studies, and General Writing Skills.
I have taught students off-line from pre-exam age (11+) to Standard Grade, Higher, and university level; and online for pre-exam level (12+), GCSE, AS level, A-Level, university level and the occasional Adult Learner.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning should be fun and in a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time academic and useful. My approach to teaching is to have the tutor and student both feel that they are getting a lot out of the experience and that the time is being well used. I will break down subjects into easily manageable blocks and make sure that my student understands the unit before moving on. I also like to vary my tutorials by having some in the form of lectures, some in the form of question and answers, some where I will give students feedback on homework they have done and suggestions to improve what they have done, etc.

I also find that on-line tuition is the best method and students can ask questions that they may not ask if they were face-to-face with someone, it is a much more relaxed approach but students get a lot out of it (and can save all the notes from lessons for use later on)

Personal Description:
I'm an experienced stage and television actor with a degree in English (2.i) from Trinity Hall, Cambridge and a 2-year post-grad qualification from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. I live in central London (Westminster) and enjoy balancing out the right brain activities of acting with the rather more left brain activities of teaching - especially Latin, which I studied through A-Level to degree, taking a Latin translation and literary criticism paper in Part 1 of my Cambridge Tripos.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught both privately and at a range of different schools and colleges for many years. My private client base has principally been in teaching Latin for Common Entrance and GCSE. In terms of classroom experience, I have worked as a supply Latin teacher at Eaton House Schools and as an A-Level English Tutor at Collingham Tutors. The majority of my work is as a private tutor travelling to people's homes and offering additional support to 10-16 year olds who are struggling with their Latin. I have a huge success rate in terms of results, regularly turning C-grade students into A-graders.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is both pragmatic and personal. Every child is different and therefore every child requires a subtly different approach. In terms of teaching English Literature my principle objective is to inspire. In terms of teaching Latin my key concerns are rigour and attention to detail. With the right approach it is often very easy to turn a child who hates Latin at school into one that (even if it is secretly) both loves it and does very well.

Personal Description:
I am 36 years old and a mum of two children (4 and 2). I have started giving tuitions when I first arrived in Bristol in 2001 and have not stopped since. I enjoy teaching and take a lot of pride when my students become fluent in French. Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a French assistant for L'ecole Francaise in 2001 and have worked with children, I am also working since 2005 for Cactus Languages and I am actually teaching adults as a self-employed teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

Originally from Paris, I specialise in teaching for the real world of today - fun, informal, slightly irreverent - but practical and above all useful! For your French to be used, you need to become comfortable speaking it, and so to help you develop that confidence I keep lessons flexible and enjoyable. Practicing everyday use in real conversational settings, I'll help you to challenge yourself and achieve your goals. You may not even notice that you're actually "working"!
Whatever your level is, I can help with your French for:
*Work and business Property abroad
*Holidays - good for Morocco & Tunisia etc ...
*Exams Translation / Interpreting / Proofreading
Or just learning for fun!
So why put it off any longer?

I am a fully qualified, excellent and enthusiastic primary school teacher. I am not currently employed as I am taking a year or so off to be a full time Mum. I have a lot of experience working one to one as a private tutor as well as my vast classroom experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have 6 years experience teaching Year 1 as well as a years supply teaching across both key stages 1 and 2. I am passionate about what I do and achieve good results.

Tutoring Approach:

I have tutored many children on a one to one basis, subjects ranging from Maths, Writing, Reading and also Recorder lessons. The most important part of tutoring is understanding the child's specific learning needs. I tailor every session to suit the child and to follow his/ her progress. As a primary teacher, I pride myself on being extremely patient and on making learning fun. There is nothing to be gained from tutoring a child who wishes you weren't there. Once a rapport has been built between myself and the child, progress flies. Enjoyment is key.

Personal Description:
I am an English as a Foreign Language teacher of Italian origins. I work in a University based study centre that prepares overseas students for U.K. Universities, teaching them General English. I have 2 years + experience in teaching English to children, adults and teenagers, and I also give private Tuitions in Italian.
I dedicate the rest of my time to writing poetry (my second Italian collection of poems has been recently published), performance art and the organisation of cultural events.
I am an enthusiastic person, reliable and trustworthy. I am very creative and good at budging time.

Teaching Experience:

At the moment I am working as an English Tutor in a school. I have experience in the sector acquired both by paid work and volunteering here in the U.K>
I started to give one to one lessons in 2002 when I enrolled University as a form to support part of my studies.
In Madrid, from October 2006 to June 2008 I taught English as a Foreign Language to children of different ages (6-8 and 11-12) in three Primary Schools. I also run arts and crafts workshop for kids aged 3-5. I taught at English Summer Camps in Spain for the summers of 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Here in London I have been working as a Teaching Assistant at Holland Park pre-prep school (Oct.2008 to June 2009) and as a playworker for Special needs children with the charity Kids (Saturdays and half term)

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring aims to build confidence in the learners and work with them, rather than lecturing to them. I generally tend to show students the steps and procedures that will lead them to make their own discoveries independently, so that they will be able to study autonomously in the future. As I learnt from my Celta course I plan lessons in advance, but I adjust to meet special learning needs and the the pace of work of students as I become aware of them.
I strongly believe that a tutor should relate to students as an equal, not someone superior.
I tend to show appreciation and praise whenever the student is doing well in order to encourage but also to prepare tasks that are challenging for the learner.
To finish, I would add that my naturally enthusiastic personality helps me to maintain a positive attitude throughout the process of teaching which is most beneficial for the student.
