Tutoring Approach: It is always possible to tailor a lesson to an individual student's needs. These needs stem from anything from personality to long-term career goals. My job as a tutor is to be communicative and sensitive to these individual needs and goals. That's the advantage of 1-on-1 tuition. As such, my approach to tutoring will often vary depending on the student and the subject. Creative Writing aspirations vary from fun and self-expression to being the next Charles Dickens! Creative Writing provides an extreme example, but people studying English or Sociology are equally varied, and my lessons will still vary depending on my student. Part of my job as a tutor is to encourage passion for a subject. I do not believe talent or intelligence is purely innate. They are harnessed through effort and will. As such, every student can achieve an A, a 1st, or any form of excellence in any subject or art. That's why Albert Einstein said, "There's nothing special about me. I'm just passionately curious." A tutor's role is to harness that passionate curiousity, and provide an environment in which it can thrive. |

| Personal Description: My 'professional' interests are in both education and social care. I am currently studying for an MA and am passionate about learning and education, however also spend a lot of time working with the homeless in a completely different environment. I love music, which was the subject I took my undergraduate degree in, both playing my instruments and studying. I'm also big football fan and have supported manchester united for many years! |
Teaching Experience: I have worked as a freelance music tutor at various points over the last few years and have also had chances to teach larger groups of children on weekends away. |
Tutoring Approach: Education is about more than being able to pass exams, although this is obviously important! Although I have worked hard for my qualifications I am pretty laid back and dont believe that getting the highest possible grade is necessarily the most important thing. Each person is different with different strengths and weaknesses, so I try to structure how I teach around individual needs and goals. When teaching I also believe that giving people self confidence and an enjoyment of the subject is an important part of helping them to improve. |

| Personal Description: I employ a modern and fun approach to tutoring. The key to successful learning is finding the ways in which we, as individuals, learn best. I am honest, reliable and most importantly - I enjoy the process of teaching and the rewards of seeing my students achieve - however small that achievement may be. I endeavour to help my students succeed yet in doing so, have fun and feel confident to use their newly aqcuired skills. |
Teaching Experience: I have worked within primary education in the UK for the last 2 years. Previously I had worked as a teacher in Barcelona and Almeria teaching English to a wide range of ages and abilities. I have taught English to large groups but feel that many progress quicker and retain their acquired skills far more successfully from individual tutoring. |
Tutoring Approach: I offer an adaptable, fun style and endeavour to provide stimulating lessons that are looked forward to, rather than dreaded! For those wishing to better their English skills, I pay careful attention to encompassing reading, writing, speaking & listening skills and handwriting. When teaching children, being flexible is essential. I constantly monitor performance and adapt my lessons as required. Whilst teaching pupils of primary age, I often involve parents in order to help them participate in the future of assisting their children. New techniques of calculation and terminology can often seem daunting but are not as scary as they seem! |

| Personal Description: I have been a tutor for over a year now, and am just completing a Politics degree at the University of Leeds, with Politics being my passion. This passion allows me to teach in a genuinely engaging way: I enjoy discussing the subject material, and this enthusiasm does make for a more enjoyable learning experience. |
Teaching Experience: I have experience in both private tutoring and teaching in a classroom based setting. Every pupil I have tutored has seen significant increases in performance: Most recently I have seen an increase from a C grade to an A grade, and an increase from a U/E grade to a B/C. I hope these results speak for themselves. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe the most important thing for a tutor to do is to engage through discussion. That is why, in my tutoring sessions, the majority of time is spent discussing topics relevant to the qualification. Through this method, the tutee can dramatically further his/her understanding of the subject, in a way which is difficult to achieve in the classroom. To complement this discussion, I like to provide handbooks, relevant to syllabus requirements, to provide direction to the engaged conversation. I believe through discussing each topic in turn, with notes provided, a fuller understanding of the subject can be achieved. |

| Personal Description: I live near Mansfield and help my partner with her pet grooming business. My children are all grown up and either working or at university. I have worked in radar, retail and education. I gained my degree through the Open University. I would rather meet plenty of people and new situations than work all day every day in the same space. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught at Further Education colleges and at school, primarily in the sixth form (IT). I have delivered IT skills within non-IT based curricula (Health & Social Care, NNEB, Leisure & Tourism, Science). Evening classes provided an opportunity to appreciate applications of IT within different career settings - I taught on vocational courses. I have attended work/home settings to assist in the solution (through learning) to individual or group concerns, facilitating a positive attitude towards the use of IT at work or in the home. |
Tutoring Approach: Learning should be fun, spontaneous and freely sought. Teaching methods should be motivating and encourage retention of learning, as well as leading the student to attempt to solve problems for themselves as far as possible, so that if there are gaps to be filled, the student will have some informed connection with any discussion. I strive to promote an investigative approach to new learning, especially with IT/computing lessons. In IT I like to teach skills that learners will use, in maths I try to make the learning approach informed, so that the next problem in a topic, although requiring something different to the last one, can be solved using underpinning knowledge previously gained |

| Personal Description: I am a young actor living in London. I also write and direct poetry, plays and films. As my father was a Diplomat I spent much of my early life abroad: in Cuba, Hungary and the United States. After studying Maths, English and Russian at Eton College I spent a year studying acting in New York and cooking in an English restaurant, then studied English and Drama at Bristol and have just finished a BA in Acting at LAMDA. When I'm not writing or in the theatre I'm in the kitchen experimenting. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored several students over the past two years in London. I have helped with English A-Level papers for a boy who got an A grade and will start at Bristol this autumn. I also taught essay-writing and exam technique to a girl who will be starting medicine at Cambridge this autumn. I also have a lot of experience with learning difficulties as I have helped my younger brother all his studying life through his asperger's and dyslexia. |
Tutoring Approach: My inspiration to work in the arts always came from the books, films, artists and languages I studied at school and at university so I have a great amount of passion and interest in what I teach. I believe this is very much the most important lesson for any new student to learn: a personal enjoyment and motivation for the subject. Exams are everywhere these days but it is important to remember that an exam is only a method for determining how much you know and if you can find yourself genuinely excited and eager to discuss what you know you are half-way to passing that exam. |
