Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher of English with many years of study, research and training in some of the world's top universities. My qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in English Literature and the Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in English, including Media Studies and Drama. My Initial Teacher Training covered all aspects of English and all abilities in the 11-18 age range. My interests, of benefit to many students especially at university level, include Critical Theory, Classical Literature, and African Literature. I have guided many students doing research and proof-read their dissertations. I have also taken the official training for one-to-one tutors rolled out by the government to complement classroom teaching. I also have experience as a GCSE English examiner for Edexcel and gained the status of Senior Examiner serving as Team Leader from the June 2013 exam series.

Teaching Experience:

My first teaching appointment came in 1988 in Cameroon where I taught English and African Literature, becoming an 'A' Level examiner for the Cameroon GCE examination board in 1990. I later took the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) leading to the PGCE, finishing my last year as Education Student of the Year in my university and receiving a national commendation for the quality of my work. I have since taught in different schools in Kent and Medway, preparing students for exams such as Functional Skills, IELTS, GCSE, 'A' Level, IB and AEA. I have also given one-to-one tuition to looked-after teenagers under a government scheme as well as taught in a secure unit for which, in addition to enhanced disclosure CRBs, I was vetted over a six month period. My first long-term (over 3 months) supply position involved teaching GCSE English, 'A' Level English Literature, and the IB. Most of my teaching has been in selective (grammar) schools. I have also given English lessons in my local community as part of an outreach programme organised for speakers of other languages by my church where I teach Bible Studies also.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to establish the needs of the students and carefully review all available assessment records. If the student is preparing for a special exam such as the GCSE, I would start by ensuring that the student is aware of the full requirements of the exam and establish a clear plan to cover these. Alongside any such programme, I believe strongly in incorporating the fundamentals of English grammar which are sometimes overlooked in formal teaching settings. I like to build a good rapport with the student so that they are comfortable revealing possible areas of weakness that we could turn into strengths.

Personal Description:
I have a degree in Physics from the University of Nottingham and have taught Science in schools for over 8 years. I have a wide variety of teaching experience, from teaching English as a foreign language to a small group of 6 year olds, to teaching A level Physics in college. I love teaching and especially enjoy seeing students progress, become more confident and gain a real interest and love of the subject.

Teaching Experience:

I have now been tutoring for over 3 years, helping many students to gain the grades they require in their GCSE and A level exams for Science and Maths.

Previously, I spent 7 years living in Thailand where I taught both England (as a foreign language) and Science in an International Program at one of the top government schools. I also taught English, Maths and Science as a tutor, both on a one-to-one basis and to small groups.

I gained a PGCE in Secondary Science from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2009 and worked as a supply teacher in a number of secondary schools in the Cheshire area before becoming a full time tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to encourage a love of the subject and take great joy in seeing students progress and become successful. I try to be friendly and supportive whilst also striving for excellent results. I try to make sessions interesting and informative by personalising the work to centre around the interests and needs of the individual student and by making use of ICT resources.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a great love of languages, ancient and modern. I have two degrees: a BA from the University of Bristol and an MA from UCL. Both degrees contained a significant Classical language component and I am familiar with all the major authors. I also have a teaching diploma with a specialisation in tutoring one-to-one or small groups.

Teaching Experience:

- Private tutor with a wealth of experience across all age groups - my students/tutees have ranged in age from 12 to 75. I have coached for exams (CE, GCSE, A level, university exams), with excellent results for my students, and I have tutored adult learners who have come to me for a variety of reasons: to learn Latin from scratch, or to follow a guided reading of Latin Literature. I am happy to take small groups as well as individuals - please contact me for rates.
- Tutor in adult education, teaching Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek and Ancient History in West Sussex.
- Tutor at The London Summer School in Classics.
- Tutor at a leading university, taking undergraduate seminar classes.

Tutoring Approach:

The key to successful tutoring lies in tailoring the content of the classes to the student's needs and objectives. For GCSE, a rigorous approach may be required to ensure that grammar and vocabulary is acquired, whereas an adult learner of Latin may want to progress quickly to adapted text, or simply to enjoy themselves with some new - or revisit Latin learnt many years ago. Whatever the case, I think learning or revision should be fun, and I aim to make my lessons as enjoyable as possible, whilst keeping a close eye on exam deadlines!

Personal Description:
I am a professional geography researcher specialised in regional geography and urban sciences. I have gained my knowledge and expertise from universities across Europe (Pécs, Wolverhampton, Maribor, Zagreb, and Ljubljana). I am currently a PhD Aspirant at the University of Pécs, Hungary.

I have been mainly researching in the field 'geography of energy', but my interests link my specification to other scientific disciplines such as sustainability, environmental sciences, and landscape geography, and I am able to perform and combine various geographical fields.

During my years as a PhD Student, I was given the chance to gain experience as a lecturer; teaching subjects which included: renewable energy resources and world regional geography. In 2015, I officially became a teacher after successfully completing my PGCE at the Birmingham City University in England.

As a teacher I have also gained experience in a prison setting teaching mathematics to a wide age range and ability of students and different learning levels, whilst I have been able to use the knowledge that I obtained from the course in practice.

Besides having published a number of articles and books, I am the founder and series editor of Frugeo's journal called Geographical Locality Studies.

I am a registered member of the Hungarian Geographical Society (MFT), and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL).

Teaching Experience:

Being a 'good' teacher is a subjective opinion that I cannot state about myself. I am experienced in a wide-range of teaching environments from primary/secondary school-aged pupils to adult/prison learning and higher education.

People who have observed me teaching in the past have had positive criticism of my work and mentioned how efficient and encouraging my lessons and teaching methods are. In my opinion, to be a good teacher it is essential to be flexible with the environment you work in and have to have comprehensive knowledge both in outdoors and in classroom settings. You have to experience and observe the outside world for you to engage and maintain properly an enthusiastic class when teaching geography.

The qualifications and the reputation I have obtained in Geography are the results of an enthusiasm I have had since my childhood for this subject area and it is still part of my daily life that comes to life through my own business and its journal.

Geography is not only my profession, but is also my hobby that is present in my life with all of its aspects, whether it be examining a piece of rock or talking about coffee beans, I can discuss both in an academic sense as well as out of personal interest. The diverse use of language therefore is important when encouraging others on geography and the key is to find a common interest between subject and receiver for them to understand and to be inspired by what they are learning. For example, when teaching in the prison, Mathematics combined with Geography suddenly becomes more interesting and therefore engaging.

Tutoring Approach:

For a researcher with a deep understanding about the Earth's mechanisms, Geography will always reserve a high number of mysteries. Research is the foundation for everything that is taught and this will always be exciting for me to do. But the implementation of this new knowledge may be challenging, that is why you have to keep thinking of new teaching methods to improve the quality of the subject that you are teaching. For this reason, it is essential to assist the younger generation for them to become capable to deal with geography related topics and issues.

As originally a researcher with a non-British educational background and with a very colourful and diverse interest in Earth Sciences, I am able to shake things up. My aim is to develop people's knowledge, foster their understandings on geography and help them achieve the required goals set by the school/exam board which I hope will motivate them into using geographical knowledge in their daily lives.

Personal Description:
I have a Ph.D. and 1st class Honours degree in chemistry and physics and have worked in research laboratories in Universities and industry for over 7 years. During this time I also lectured and tutored chemistry and physics. I also developed strong links with a local school to supervise Advanced Higher Chemistry projects and have strong experience in this area. I am particularly specialised in Advanced Higher / 1st Year University and have spent a lot of time tutoring pupils of this age and level. I have a unique range of study materials for all levels that I teach, which have been developed to allow pupils to focus on practising questions in areas of their own particular weakness.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored undergraduate students and school students in chemistry and physics for more than 10 years. I am very familiar with the syllabus for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher chemistry and physics and 1st and 2nd year undergraduate and college chemistry courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very friendly and approachable and aim to make my students feel at ease and enjoy the lessons. I have an excellent range of practice materials for all courses I tutor. These can be worked on during the lesson or left with the student for additional practice and marked by me after their attempt. I frequently tutor the same students for consecutive years as they progress through the secondary school system and am often recommended to their classmates by word of mouth. I tutor a range of abilities from students struggling to sit the National 5 exam to students trying to attain an A at Advanced Higher.

Personal Description:
Hello. I am a teacher with an MA in History, an MA in Creative Writing and a degree in Politics and History. I am also a published playwright and poet. I have been teaching part time in an English department at a University for the last four years as well as working as a private tutor. Prior to that I was a writer in residence in a young offenders institution using creative writing and drama to improve the literacy, thinking and behaviour of young prisoners. In 2014 I ran writing and drama workshops in a women's prison in New Zealand. I have worked widely in youth theatre and have written a popular text book on creative writing. My drama has been produced on stage and radio in the UK, Australia and most recently the US. I've also directed for theatre, most recently at Watford Palace Theatre. As well as a teacher, I have been a youth justice worker and a careers adviser. You can find out more about my work at website and blog.

Teaching Experience:

During the last academic year (2014 - 2015) I successfully tutored a local A level History student. This academic year (2015 -2016) I have tutored A level and GCSE English and am currently tutoring two GCSE History students. For the last two years I have taught creative writing (poetry, drama, short fiction) part time at Sheffield Hallam University; from 2012-2014, poetry at Edge Hill University. I have also guest lectured in History and Criminology.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to initially assess my student's strengths and weaknesses. Then to break the learning curve down into key objectives or units. Then to set a realistic time frame to achieve set goals. Always in mind is the objective of achieving an eventual good pass in the subject. I tutor online using skype as well as in person.

Personal Description:
I am a University of Liverpool graduate. Having decided to teach I trained at the University of Birmingham completing a Mathematics Subject Knowledge Enhancement year followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. I enjoy my job and love seeing pupils realise and achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

Since qualifying university I have since had two years experience teaching at an Outstanding school in Merseyside, teaching a range of 11-18 year olds. My pupils have achieved excellent results, especially those targeting A and A* grades.

Tutoring Approach:

The approach I take towards tutoring is a focus on defining on the needs of the tutee. Few students are afforded the opportunity to have one on one time with a classroom teacher in their specialist subject and if specific areas are identified and worked on the benefits are huge.

Personal Description:
I'm 17 years old and am a current student of the Sixth Form at St Bartholomew's School. The four subjects I'm currently taking are Maths, German, History and Politics. In my AS levels I received an A in all three subjects I took, including in Maths. I am a big sports fan and am known to often watch football games at Hungerford Town and Reading. I can also be found at most Wales international home matches. I have experience in volunteering as a befriender for the Alzheimer's Society.

Teaching Experience:

I have a Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership, a course which I undertook alongside GCSEs, where I coached children in Years 3-6 to play sports. At school, I was a year long mentor for new Year 7s as a Year 9.

Tutoring Approach:

Patience is key. Children and young teenagers, who may find maths difficult, can easily become frustrated. It's up to a tutor to let the child overcome their frustration by enabling them to solve complex problems and to make maths interesting. It's often challenging for children to use up their spare time for extra tutoring, so tutoring must be enjoyable and enlightening in equal measure.

Personal Description:
I am a master student recently graduated from Imperial College London and study Signal Processing and Communications Engineering. I have completed my BEng in the University of Bristol major in Electronic and Communication Engineering and graduated with First Class with Honour, the top student in cohort ranking. I am a Chinese native speaker and can speak fluent English. Before study at the University of Bristol, I did IFY (International Foundation Year) course in which I have achieved A* in A-Level related courses: Math, Further Math and Physics.

I am an outgoing, patient, friendly and intelligent person. I love teaching and willing to share my knowledge and thinking with my friends and students.

Teaching Experience:

During the IFY course, I was elected as a math class representative and assisted my math teacher with correcting homework. I have been helping my classmates and friends in math, physics and engineering related courses throughout my Bachelor and Master degree. During the study at Bristol University, I voluntarily coached one of my flatmate (classmate) math and physics after lectures or before the exam period. With my assistant, he achieved 2:1 in most of the courses and even first class in some courses. During the weekend, I took the part time job teaching Chinese, including speaking and writing. With my help, my students have demonstrated a significant improvement in both writing and, especially speaking skills.

Tutoring Approach:

Math & Physics:
I have developed my math and physics teaching pattern which, I am confident, will tremendously benefit the mathematical thinking and intelligence for my students. Apart from teaching the students how to solve the mathematical and physics problems, I very much aware of the importance of the mathematical thinking skills, that most of the teachers ignore. Therefore, I will also focus on teaching my students how to think when encountering the problems, which can help them overcome the fear of math and physics or even improve their motivation and interest in math and physics. The mathematical thinking skills are the fundamental and one of the most important fact that leads to the success in math and physics, and these skills are also the secret that why many Chinese students are so successful in math and physics. Once build up the fundamental mathematical logic, these skills will embed in their thought and will benefit their further study. I am willing to share all my experience and knowledge with my students and I believe , and I am confident that my students will learn more than they can expect.

Chinese/Mandarin:
I have good experience in teaching Mandarin. I taught non-Chinese speakers the Chinese speaking and writing skills during the weekend when I was at the University of Bristol. I am very patient and friendly person, instead of being a teacher I am more likely to be a friend with my students, I always motivate my students and encourage them to speak and write. I believe this will make the teaching much more efficient, and they can get the most out of my teaching. I can make my syllabus for teaching, and I am also happy to follow your syllabus as well.
