Personal Description:
I am an English and Portuguese Teacher and Translator. I translate and interpret from English to Portuguese and vice versa. I teach Portuguese and English as a foreign language.

Are you considering learning Portuguese? Here are some reasons why Portuguese might be an excellent choice for you:

• Portuguese is the sixth most widely spoken language in the world with over 230 million speakers in four continents.

• The official language of eight countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, and São Tome and Príncipe, Madeira and the Azores.

• Widely spoken, though not official, in parts of India, Macau, Andorra, Luxemburg, Paraguay, South Africa, and Namibia.

• The working and/or official language in important international organizations such as the African Union, the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, the European Union, and Mercosul, the Organization of American States, the Organization of Ibero-American States, and the Union of South American Nations.

• Brazil is a 21st-century economic and industrial powerhouse. It is the 5th largest economy in the world, recently overtaking the UK's economy.

• Numerous scientists consider Brazil to be the country with the most important biological diversity in the world.

• You want to learn Portuguese as it's your partner's native language and you want to improve communication between you.

• I teach European Portuguese (Portugal), Brazilian Portuguese (Brazil) and African Portuguese (Angola and Mozambique).

So what are you waiting for? Come learn Portuguese.

Are you considering learning English? Here are some reasons why English might be an excellent choice for you:

• English is the first language of approximately 375 million people, is the official language in 54 countries and is the third largest language by number of native speakers, after Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

• When combining native and non-native speakers, it is the most commonly spoken language in the world.

• The importance of learning English cannot be overstated in an increasingly connected and globalized world.

• For the many people that come to the United Kingdom from non-English-speaking countries every year, learning to communicate in English is important to enter and ultimately succeed.

• Working knowledge of the English language can create many opportunities in international markets and regions.

So what are you waiting for? Come learn English with me.

I have experience with one-to-one and group lessons; beginners, intermediate, advanced and proficiency levels, present tuition and online tuition via Skype; teaching children from the age of 2; preparation for GCSE and A-level exams (OCR board); general training and language training for business purposes.

I have a degree in History with a teaching certificate which included one internship at a secondary school as a teaching assistant. I have a CRB and a DBS check. • Business: My teaching method is based on a communicative approach, focusing on achieving fluency, improving reading and listening comprehension, and expanding vocabulary. I teach the use of Portuguese in a variety of business environments, based on key skills like presenting information, taking part in meetings and videoconferences, handling telephone calls, negotiating and writing concise business letters, e-mails or reports.

• E-learning: My e-learning method is specifically designed for adults who may have limited hours available, prefer the convenience of learning online and need to improve their Portuguese language skills quickly.

• GCSE and A-level exams: I coach the student using past papers, besides writing, reading and listening exercises.

• Children and Teenagers: My lessons for children and teenagers are varied and enjoyable, with music, culture, and multimedia features to make the learning process very enjoyable and practical.

Personal Description:
I am a UK Law Graduate and TEFL certified tutor with more than 6 years experience teaching English to individuals of all language level proficiencies. I am also a freelance English-Swahili interpreter & translator as well as a proofreader of academic materials like dissertations, coursework, essays etc. Furthermore, I have higher basic level knowledge of French and Korean.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching on and off since 2004 then seriously took up part time teaching in 2007 and full time teaching after 2009. I have taught individuals of all proficiency levels and with different needs ranging from improving conversation skills or grammar skills to full on learning for absolute beginners.

Tutoring Approach:

First of all I like to determine the level of my students' proficiency by having a simple conversation with them and also having them read a short article/written piece so as to create my lessons to suit their individual needs and their particular level of proficiency. Consequently my approach and material changes to suit each individual student.

I usually create lesson plans according to the students' needs and their level of proficiency. I use different text books as well as online materials and come up with effective lessons. I also use lots of flash cards as they are a very effective way to remember new things. News articles, simple song lyrics etc are also ways I use to make lessons fun but very easy to remember at the same time. I use these especially for conversational purposes to get my students to learn new vocabulary and expressions as well as be more confident speaking/reading English.

Personal Description:
I am an Arabic linguistics PhD student at the Language and Linguistic Science Department of the University of York, UK. I hold a BA in English literature and linguistics as well as an MA in translation studies. My study makes me familiar with written Arabic and spoken Arabic in its different forms (dialects). This is why I am quite familiar with Egyptian, Syrian, Lebanese, Gulf and Sudanese Arabic. In addition, I am also a CELTA-trained teacher and an Assistant Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a foreign language for 10 years at Minia University, Egypt. I also taught Arabic to adults as well as young people for 5 years in England. I teach face to face and online.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching depends on immersing you in enjoyable daily-life situations so that you can easily imitate and, after not too much effort, read, write and speak Arabic/English like a native speaker. Culture cannot be separated from language. So, I also immerse you in the main cultural aspects of Arabic/English-speaking countries in general and offer a brief background to language as reflected in culture. Also, I try to compare Arabic and English (as a language) and the culture represented by it with other languages, including French and German (languages that I am familiar with).

Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student.

As a dedicated tutor, I focus not only on the results but also on exam techniques and providing a thorough understanding of the subject matter through discussions and examples.

Identifying any areas of difficulty within a topic, I devise tailored learning targets to maximise my clients' potential in order to achieve success.

With the following qualifications and my vast experience in private tutoring, I strongly believe that I will make a positive contribution to your learning progress.

● Degree (University of Bradford): BSc Clinical Sciences (Hons) - 2:1

● A levels (Crossley Heath Grammar) - Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Urdu

● O Levels (Cambridge certified) - including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, Maths, Additional Maths , Urdu

Teaching Experience:

My experience and interest in tutoring developed during sixth form when I started mentoring key stage 3 students in science and maths. The feedback I received from the pupils and staff was very encouraging and this response gave me immense satisfaction. I have been a private tutor ever since.

My experience ranges from key stage 3 to GCSE, A Level and even degree level students, including tutoring international students online whose first language wasn't English. My biggest achievement to date has been working with a GCSE maths student who was struggling due to self-confidence issues and family problems. With hard work and persistence, not only was I able to help him with his lack of self-belief but he went on to achieve an A* in his exam.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the key to success is a mixture of core learning, doing past papers, learning exam technique and revision to consolidate what has been learnt.

I utilise the following general approach:

● Identify preferred learning style
● Identify any topics/areas of difficulty
● Preparing a weekly timetable for students
● Devising a revision strategy for exams.
● Past papers, exam technique and revision
● Practice makes perfect!

I encourage clients to ask questions freely to create a comfortable but professional studying environment. After each lesson I invest a lot of time and effort planning the next scheduled session to ensure weekly set targets are being met.

The client is my priority and their success is my aim. I will go that extra mile to help so please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have done a lot of group work with children in primary school as well as individual one-to-one support work for children with special needs and/or children with difficulties. I use different methods/strategies to teach each child/group of children the curriculum work to ensure they understand the tasks set and can complete future tasks independently.

Personal Description:
Prior to becoming a maths teacher I trained as as a Chartered Accountant and worked in Business and Finance. After having my family I moved into education and initially taught Business and Accounting at A level. I later qualified as a secondary maths teacher and have taught maths in a high achieving 11- 18 local school for 8 years as well a providing one to one tuition both at school and privately.

Teaching Experience:

Secondary Maths teacher, KS3 and KS4 since 2009,
Sixth Form tutor in Business and accounting
Private Maths tutor, KS2,KS3 and KS4 for 10 years

Tutoring Approach:

I love maths and believe everyone is capable of succeeding and also learning to love maths if they are given the confidence to do so. Many students struggle because they may have been put off maths at a early age or missed out on some essential building blocks which have limited their progress.
I believe in going to back to basics and establishing a thorough understanding of crucial concepts, using different teaching styles to suit the individual needs of the student. I enjoy getting to know my students and being able to tailor my teaching to their personalities and needs.

Personal Description:
Hi there, I am 26 and love working with other people to help them achieve. I truly believe everyone has the ability to achieve their potential - and that's what I aim to do. Whatever goals you have, I would like to help you work towards them.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a primary school teacher for 5 years now. I studies English and Communication with English Literature at University. I have trained in special needs and taken the SENCo qualification.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in goal focused, positive and manageable learning. I am flexible to how you would like to learn. Whether that been focusing on the things you are not so confident with or expanding the things you are. I can guide you to some reading independently or work together on unpicking problems. There is no one size fits all - it always depends on the context.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, compassionate and experienced tutor who delivers the best quality of one-to-one tuition in Maths.
I have recently graduated with a 1st Class Master's degree from the University of Sussex. I also have other interests such as Taekwon-do which I regularly do on a weekly basis.

My enthusiasm motivates students and gives them self-confidence to view me not only as their tutor, but as a role model, a friend and ultimately someone who will take a genuine interest in their learning and achievement.

Parents are very important in the support structure and therefore I include and work with all parties to ensure the best possible system for learning is in place. I create a tailored programme, in which a lesson plan can be followed and progress is monitored, to allow parents to be a part of the tuition process. I do this with care whilst listening and catering to the student's individual needs.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Maths tutor for about 3 years, tutoring many Primary, GCSE and A-Level students in this period.

A few of these have been from word-of-mouth, hence the reason for very little reviews. Each year brings fantastic results and I am yet to have a student dissatisfied with their successes.

I have 100% pass rate and one of my best successes in tutoring was a student that had improved by 3 GCSE grades. Most of my students after a year of tuition have increased by 2 grades.

I hold a full clean enhanced DBS check.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning happens when you are faced a problem and have to struggle to find an answer, so I help students to work out problems by providing them hints and guide them in the right direction by leading them through key concepts. I also break down questions which can be chunky into key bullet points for them to understand quickly and effectively.

My explanations are very clear and also have a calm personality. As well as subject content, I develop a student's skill in exam technique and time management in order for the student to perform well overall particularly in exams.

I can offer 2-hour block sessions at the weekend (if required) and 1-hour block session during the weekdays. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy, unless in medical circumstances, and a one-month discontinuation policy either side if tuition is terminated.
