I am originally from Ayrshire but have spent the last eight years south of the border studying and working. I have worked as an actor, singer and songwriter and continue to do so whilst teaching. I have now moved back to Ayrshire to live and work and continue to be creative.

Teaching Experience:

*Co-founder and Director of a theatre company
*Director of Fringe based theatrical work
*Drama workshop leader
*Drama teaching assistant with final year university students
*Trainee college lecturer

Tutoring Approach:

I am very passionate about what i do and have worked with many different people of a variety of ages and backgrounds. I have studied the works of many theatre practitioners whilst in and out of education, ranging from the naturalism of Stanislavski through to the forum theatre of Augusto Boal, to name but a few. However my goal when teaching is to have a "thinking performer" who knows themselves and the character and connects with what they're doing rather than merely "pretending". I'm an approachable person with a strong work ethic and strive to push someone to reach their potential.

Personal Description:
Before becoming self employed Crofton worked as an industrial research scientist in Electronic materials and Bioelectronics at the Plessey Research centre, then as a Department head (Nanotechnology Sensors) with GEC Marconi in Materials Technology until 2001. He now works as a consultant to the DTI and EC in Medical/physics research during the day while devoting the after school hours to Private tuition. With his previous experience in interviewing prospective job applicants and sourcing funding for research and development Crofton is able to help candidates at A level to present their strengths in university applications and is well placed to discuss possible progression routes.

Teaching Experience:

Crofton offers tuition in Biology, Chemistry and Physics at AS and A2 levels and Maths at GCSE. He is a graduate of University College, Oxford where he gained his degree in Biochemistry in 1975. He has A levels in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths . Since becoming self employed he has worked for over 12 years as a private tutor in the sciences typically teaching 15 to 18 hours a week mainly after school hours.

Tutoring Approach:

Crofton tailors the tuition to the individual needs of the learner, using his extensive knowledge of the subject he patiently explains the fundamentals of processes, thereby helping the student to grasp more advanced concepts. Exam success has resulted for many students through intensive one-to-one sessions, especially through coaching in exam technique by systematically doing past papers followed by intensive analysis of answers with the mark scheme. It goes without saying that the learner's commitment to self-study and thorough revision is the key factor in achieving good results. For this reason the student should be prepared to commit to one hours home work each week.
Crofton has helped many students to achieve the grade they need for admission to their chosen University course, including helping many students into medical and veterinary College where A grades in Chemistry are mandatory. He is experienced in the syllabus of all the major exam boards including OCR, Edexcel and AQA. Many students start private tuition after having been disappointed with their AS results and stay on through to their A2 exams, often improving their grades by two or three places. This works well on the basis of one hour's tuition a week and approximately one hour's homework.

My name is Nadia, I am a Spanish, Portuguese and English teacher from Argentina. I have been teaching languages for more than 14 years now. I love my profession, I really enjoy teaching and sharing my experiences with the students. I moved to London in December 2011 (I hold an unmarried partner VISA, this means I am eligible to work in the UK) I am hard working, responsible and I believe in fun, communicative and interactive lessons. I love new challenges. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you, so we can start having fun and learning together!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching languages for more than 14 years. I studied English Language Teaching Training at Mar del Plata University, Buenos Aires, Argentina. I also hold the CELTA. I taught English and Portuguese in Argentina in schools and language institutes to all age groups and levels (for more than 10 years). Personal Description:
In 2013, graduated from King's College London and Humboldt University in Berlin, where I studied English law and German law, LLB an LLM, in English and German. After working for a year in admin-related jobs, I did another masters, in EU International Relations, at College of Europe in Bruges, studying in English and French. I spent the last half a year in Brussels, doing a traineeship in the European Commission and now I am back in London, looking for a job and would love to do some tutoring as well, as I have some experience as a teacher and really enjoy doing it!

As far as my knowledge of German is concerned, I spent a year in Berlin (Humboldt University in Berlin) doing my masters in German and European Law and Legal practice. It included writing and defending a masters thesis in German as well as passing exams in German. I learnt German at school (passed it with the best grade at my IB final exams - A-levels equivalent, I also passed the test DaF, proving the knowledge of this language at the C1 level) and at university, where I had legal German courses. I have experience teaching German as I was tutoring German during my last year at KCL to fellow stundents within the framework of the KCL Language Society. I was also teaching German through this website a couple of years ago and very recently, during the traineeship in Brussels I was teaching intermediate German to a group of fellow trainees on a weekly basis.

As for Polish - I come from Poland originally, so Polish is my mother tongue. I went to school in Poland and only left the country at the age of 19. During my last year at KCL, I was also giving individual Polish lessons part time to English people.

Teaching Experience:

I was teaching English to children in kindergarten in my home country when I was at secondary school. The children were aged 4-6 and I was teaching basic vocabulary and expressions to them. I was preparing various games and songs in order to make the teaching experience easier for them.
While at university, I was an active member of the language society and so I taught German to fellow students, at the beginners and intermediate levels. I taught them grammar rules but also made them practice speaking and listening. I was giving individual Polish lessons during my last year at university as well. Recently, I was a German tutor teaching intermediate level German to the trainees in Brussels.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe tutors must be very patient and answer every question as carefully and as exactly as they can. They should know what their tutees' motivation for learning new languages is and try and set goals that would be suitable to the tutees' needs. This means, tutors should approach each tutee individually and find out what is most important for them in the learning process.
I also believe that learning a new language requires a lot of work to be done by the tutees at home. This is why I give homework as I believe students need to have motivation to study also outside the classes. I set a specific number of vocabulary they need to learn for the next class and check if they have done that. Moreover, I believe learning a language is not just about the grammar rules and for this reason I not only give my students grammar exercises but also encourage them to listen to the radio/news/tv etc. in the language they learn and try to speak as much as possible.

Personal Description:
¡Buenas! Me llamo Patricia y... ¡soy la profesora que estás buscando! Understood that? No? Then you really need my classes! :)

I am a bilingual Spanish and English teacher from Madrid, Spain, confident in my ability and passion to teach.
I am a sociable, dynamic, cheerful, self-confident and highly motivated with a responsible commitment to everything I carry out, especially when duties as an educator are concerned. I am a hard-working professional, enthusiastic about teaching but learning at the same time. I believe I am skilled in the design of challenging and innovative activities that address the diverse interests and needs of students. My goal is to motivate them by ascertaining their inner strengths, abilities and the activities that truly inspire them.

With over 7 years teaching experience, I have been teaching successfully English and Spanish at all levels (from 1 year old babies to adults), exams preparations, business classes, etc. My experience has provided me with an excellent background in the field of teaching, which is my passion, and has enabled me with the skills and methodology required to be a great teacher in every sense.

Through teaching, I get to live my passion, I love working with kids, teenagers or adults, regardless of the kind of student, there is no better feeling than to stimulate a person's social, emotional, physical and academic growth. I love the result of my job. Every day I am determined to help people realise how easy and fulfilling learning can be.

So, it doesn't matter whether you are 10 or 50, if you are looking for business Spanish classes, passing an exam, or just learning in order to go to our wonderful beaches and be able to order a paella at a restaurant! Whatever your needs are I will make sure our classes suit them perfectly! :)

Teaching Experience:

With over 8 years teaching experience, I have been teaching successfully English and Spanish at all levels (from 1 year old babies to adults), exams preparations, business classes, etc. My experience has provided me with an excellent background in the field of teaching, which is my passion, and has enabled me with the skills and methodology required to be a great teacher in every sense.

I had the privilege of being Head of the English Department at SLG Institute of Education and International Euro-American University during 5 years, in charge of all the English-related subjects teaching the language to adults at all levels required (on-site and on-line classes).

Regarding private tuition, I started working as a private teacher in Madrid where I developed my own methodology. After being in several schools devoted to pre-school and primary education, I decided to create something of my own by request of my private students who were increasing very fast. Thus, I created my own company of private teachers, that way I could reach more students as the feedback I had already received was extraordinary. It was an amazing experience in which I was responsible for a team of teachers working according to my method and materials (hired after a recruitment and training process led by myself).
As you can tell, when it comes to private classes I know what I am talking about!

I had the pleasure of becoming part of the academic team in Kids & Us, a very special international school meant for children from 1 to 13 years old. Its methodology is rooted firmly in natural language acquisition. Thanks to this great year being immersed in a kids world, I could learn a lot from them, such as techniques used in order to encourage student learning within this method, ways to establish good rapport¦ Always making certain the kids receive sufficient praise and positive reinforcement which fosters confidence for them to reach their full potential.

I began tutoring in the UK at all levels more than three years ago with great success as well as coordinating Spanish teaching in the school I worked for more than two years, here in Birmingham.

During this time I have been able to get to know the National Curriculum and focus on helping lots of students with the preparation for the A Levels and GCSE exams with proven great results.

I have taught Spanish to students of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds, at all levels. I have learned through my experience the main difficulties British students face when learning Spanish as a Second Language. For this reason, I will always make sure my lessons meet each individual`s learning styles and needs.

My teaching method is rooted firmly in the communicative and task-based approach developing your ability to speak, read, write and understand the language regardless of your level. And believe me, all of this can be great fun!

This year I was looking forward to a new challenge, therefore I decided to start a new personal project, I am opening my own Spanish Language Centre in the heart of Birmingham, The Jewellery Quarter. I really hope to see you all, either in the Language Centre or, if it is more convenient for your location, in my house where I also teach. ¡Nos vemos pronto! :)

Personal Description:
I am a UCL graduate, with Masters degree in Phonetics (Linguistic department).
I have a degree in Tourism and also studied English philology and teaching English as a foreign language.

Currently I work in a legal department, where I focus on providing training to law firms, barristers and law students.

One of my biggest passions are languages. I studied French, Spanish, Latin, Portuguese and Japanese, just to name a few.
I think that given the right approach, you can truly enjoy studying a language and it can be (and SHOULD be) a fun and exciting experience.

Teaching Experience:

I taught English as a Second Language for 2 years in a private school.
My one-to-one language tutoring includes teaching: English, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese.

I have been teaching on and off for about 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is very modern. I am a firm believer that the right environment and teaching style have massive impact on the learning curve.
I tailor sessions to fit individual's needs, I make sure that they get the most of the time spent during the class and that they engage throughout.
Some of the techniques I use focus around: mnemonic techniques (how to best remember AND retain the knowledge utilizing associations), pragmatic tools (being able to recognize the goal and tapping into the value of the information attained), removing the unnecessary clutter of teaching techniques that do not work for an individual.

Personal Description:
I am a former primary and secondary school teacher, mainly teaching all the science subjects. I have tutored my son and daughter in the science subjects straight from KS3 through to A-level, especially in biology. Therefore, I have gained extensive knowledge of the sciences, covering a range of exam boards, and also experienced first hand the exam technique needed to achieve the target grade. I would like to transfer this knowledge of biology and revision methods to others who need it, and I am committed to encouraging students to achieve the best grades possible.

I am extremely familiar with the GCSE biology syllabuses and regularly remain up to date with changes in specification and exam dates.

I can also do Maths tutoring for those at the primary school level, and Hindi language tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

Currently tutoring multiple students in primary level maths and english, and also GCSE Biology
Former primary and secondary school teacher

Tutoring Approach:

I like to take an interactive approach to the lessons, where topics are taught through quizzes and questions, which allows me to identify topics the student might find challenging. I explain subjects comprehensively, and often recommend making revision posters as a good way to remember a lot of information, especially with GCSE level subjects.
I also enjoy tutoring younger children of infant and primary level in literacy and numeracy.

Personal Description:
Learning and subsequently teaching English has been my biggest passion since my first English lesson in high school. I have since spent 13 years teaching both full time and part time. I opened my own Language School in Turkey in 2008 and this gave me the opportunity to teach Turkish as well as English. I have prepared students for exams such as TOEFL and IELTS apart from teaching General English and Business English. English is my second language and this gives me an advantage over native speakers as I have learned the language much the same way as my students do. This means I can anticipate and empathise with any difficulties my students come across.

Teaching Experience:

Since my graduation from English Literature Department and getting my English teaching certificate from Istanbul University in 2003, I have been teaching English to young students aged from 7 to 13 and adults of all ages.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer bespoke English lessons, preparing the lesson according to the students' needs.

I can teach on Skype as well as face to face lessons.
