Personal Description:
I'm a University of Glasgow Biochemistry and MSc International Project Management graduate. I'm a French national and have been living in the UK for 21 years. I'm a lovely person, very dynamic and love the one to one of tutoring. It makes me really happy to help someone achieve something they have worked so hard for.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately now for 13 years and have seen my students come to grow in confidence, in understanding and in knowledge of their chosen topics. I saw a girl who I tutored for 7 months go from getting an 'Unclassified grade' in her Biology AS Level to a B in her A2. I have never seen a student of mine's grades stay the same post-tutoring and I am very proud of that.

Tutoring Approach:

I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I ask them questions about themselves, hobbies, favourite subjects etc; and then using that to better understand how they learn, I talk to them about their private learning and revision and the method of approach to that and to exams. And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning. I also set plenty of work and get them to do past papers which I send to them in the first week. I then take these away and mark them in my own time and return with a deeper view of where they are going wrong after they have been taught. I do 2hr concentrated sessions either weekly or fornightly and have seen great results not only in grades but also in enthusiasm for learning. I am also on hand to discuss career and university options too, which helps ease the daunting choices the students have to make.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced language teacher and native speaker of Arabic and German and teach at school as well as giving private lessons. Teaching at all levels and using a large variety of materials, tailored to students' ages and needs, the emphasis is on enjoying the process of learning the language at the students own pace as well as working towards specific goals where appropriate.

Teaching Experience:

I teach German in school to children aged 6-10 and have given private lessons at all levels and to all ages, children, adolescents and adults, in both German and Arabic, for many years. My background is in interpreting and translation and I moved on to teaching from there. One of my long term Arabic students is now studying Arabic at university level, many of my other students have successfully completed GCSEs and A levels in both languages and/or gone on to use both languages for work or leisure purposes.

Tutoring Approach:

The emphasis is on the enjoyment of the learning process, I adapt the materials used to the individual needs of my students and everything is tailored to those needs. For children the emphasis is on learning through games, play and song, for adolescents and adults games and play may still form a part of the process. Cultural instruction and understanding goes hand in hand with the learning of the language, especially with Arabic as the culture and script are so different and present special challenges. I love my work and I try to convey a love of language to my students too.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a 2:1 in French Studies. During my 3rd year I lived in Montreal where I studied French, Spanish, and Italian at McGill University. After graduating I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language and spent the next few years teaching English in the UK and Paris as well as travelling to Spain, where I lived for three months.
In 2005 I gained a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) from The University of Bath. From 2005 to 2006 I taught in a variety of primary and secondary schools before taking a permanent post at Matravers School in Wiltshire, where I worked for five years and gained internal promotion to second in department in 2010. During my time at the school I prepared students for both GCSE and A Level exams.
I also led trips to both Paris and Barcelona to give students a taste of life in these countries and an opportunity to practise their language skills in real life situations.
I have been working as a private tutor since 2012 and also work as an examiner for both AQA and Edexcel, marking the writing component of the French and Spanish GCSE. I recently completed a Master's in Technical and Specialised Translation (with distinction) from the University of Westminster.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years experience of teaching French and Spanish in a permanent post and currently work on a casual basis in various secondary schools in the Barnet area. I have been working as private tutor since 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a positive working relationship between tutor and student is the cornerstone of a successful learning experience. I aim to make my students feel at ease and safe to take risks in order to build their confidence and experience success. I tailor-make lessons to each individual student's learning needs and preferences so that the student is always at the centre of the learning process. I use a range of materials in my teaching including online resources, worksheets, games, speaking activities, and past exam papers where appropriate.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD student at UCL, currently studying towards a doctorate in Mathematics. I have a BSc Financial Mathematics (2:1) from University of Surrey and a MSc Mathematics (distinction) from University of Sussex.

Teaching Experience:

I undertook tutoring roles at University of Sussex and I am currently tutoring a degree student in London. In addition to this I used to run a homework club at my secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that understanding is key. I will use visual representation and justification as much as possible to provide a clear understanding of why and how we use techniques. I will tailor my tutoring to the specific needs of my tutee, and my time will include a FREE consultation to see where the student is in their studies and attempt to highlight any areas where they may feel less comfortable. I hope to inspire my tutees to see maths as a useful tool as apposed to a chore.

Personal Description:
I am a second year Physics with Astrophysics student at the University of York. I am a confident, mature individual who is driven to be successful. I have a down to earth personality which will make me more relatable and easier to pass on my breadth of knowledge.

Teaching Experience:

The only experience I have with students was in my second year of college. In collaboration with the Maths department, I ran a peer mentoring session with first years every week. This was an hour long meeting in the library or a classroom with 5-6 students, where I would help them with topics they struggled with or go over some details from their lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the most important and effective way of learning is through practice of the subject. I would use the first part of a session to go over some important points to a topic and teach basic skills. Then put these into practice, going through questions, aided and unaided, including past paper questions.

Personal Description:
I have been teaching privately since 2006. In this time I have tried very different kind of approaches, refining my method day by day.

Teaching Experience:

2006-Present- Spanish Tutor
2012-Present: English Tutor
November 2013-June 2014- Geography and History Teacher

Tutoring Approach:

I am very natural when I am teaching. I am able to improvise every time it is required. I define myself as a creative person and teaching is one way that reflects that. I would say that my teaching flows. I pride myself of not pressuring my students and getting the best they have, helping them to gain confidence in their writing and speaking and encouraging discussion. I believe I possess some of the qualities that are expected in a teacher. These are knowledge, good knowledge, patience, good psychology and empathy. Overall I teach with my heart because teaching is a passion for me.

Personal Description:
I'm Marco, a composer and singer currently based in Oxford, UK. I studied composition with Emily Howard at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music for 3 years, and I am currently studying for a BA in Music at The Queen's College, Oxford. While at school I was a composer for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, having my works performed in various cathedrals and concert halls around the UK and Europe. I am currently studying composition with Professor Robert Saxton at the University of Oxford, and I have received a number of professional commissions, some of which will be performed on BBC Radio 3. I am applying for Masters courses in Composition and I am pursing this field professionally. Recently I won the 2015 Matthew Schellhorn Prize for Sacred Music Composition. As a singer and performer, I have performed with choirs such as the Choir of the Queen's College, Oxford, Mary Magdalen Oxford, Newman Consort, Ensemble 45, Schola Cantorum of Oxford, as well as a variety of chamber ensembles. During my second year of University I was President of the Queen's College Eglesfield Music Society, which saw great successes in public performances that I arranged and in which I performed.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a number of students in composition and music theory at GCSE and A-Level on a one-to-one basis, and my skills and experience with composition allow me to give particular guidance in this field. I am willing to give one-on-one lessons in composition and music theory, as these are often problematic areas for students throughout school, and my particular skill-set can enable students to achieve at a level that will stand them in good stead for University applications. I have experience tutoring in a number of practical disciplines within music, including Piano, Voice, Guitar and Clarinet. I am willing to coach students up to Grade 8 standard, as I achieved Distinctions in all my Grade 8 exams.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is combining practical skills with theoretical knowledge of musicianship, in order to provide students with a way of approaching their studies in an industry-focussed manner. My compositional and practical skills have been tested in a number of professional settings, and this kind of insight is exactly the kind of knowledge that students require in order to be successful in their GCSE and A-Level exams. I offer a calm and intuitive approach, which allows students to develop their own ideas, with my guidance that will push them to achieve extremely highly in their public examinations. My extremely positive and creative attitude towards teaching comes from a sense of the true power and beauty that music is capable of achieving, and I intend to pass this inspiration on to my students.

Personal Description:
I am an undergraduate at the University of Oxford (Exeter college) reading for a BA in Music, and attended the Liverpool Blue Coat School for seven years. I achieved my Advanced level qualifications in 2016 with A* in Music (the first grade of that category in the subject for my school), A* in Maths and A in Chemistry, and I was a member of my school's orchestra, choir, and took part in many other extra curricular musical activities. I am a choral scholar at Exeter college, Oxford, regularly play in orchestras at university and home, and composition is a particular area of interest for me within my degree. I enjoy engaging in philosophical debates and discussing ideas and how they change through history.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped out at my school's open days in the chemistry music and maths departments where I have explained how teaching works, but also taught students myself to help show the type of topics covered. In day to day school I also often end up explaining things in these subjects to enhance people's understanding. I was also a part of Resonate Music Hub and led the youth orchestra there, which entailed peer guidance and for a while I helped out in the younger groups helping to tutor the children on string instruments. In previous years I have tutored children 1 on 1 for the Blue Coat entrance exam, and also have experience working with less able children, and those who need a little more guidance in many subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one of the best ways to learn and understand important concepts and facts is for the student to lead the reasoning with guidance from the tutor. I will use this approach to ensure that the student fully understands what is being taught but also I am aware that many things require a different approach, involving slower step by step teaching method. I will also cater for students who want to know more about the subject, and I believe my very current A level and degree knowledge can provide information where questions are asked, which I very much encourage. In terms of tutoring for the entrance exam I believe the best way to prepare is to go through practice questions and explain how they work and how to best gain marks. My degree has shaped my writing style so that I can assist students with their essay writing and how to succinctly shape arguments. If you are worried about your child losing focus over the long summer and forgetting what they have learnt in the previous term, or just want to push them while there is the time, a session or two a week is an ideal way to keep thought active and present.

Personal Description:
I am a psychology teacher (head of department) and SEN support teacher (across gcse curriculum) with first class honours in psychology from Birkbeck university. I specialise in 1:1 and small group learning.
I teach all gcse and a level psychology topics as well as many undergraduate modules including research methods and critical analysis.
My tutoring can be an extension of what is currently being taught in class or independent study. I am able to provide worksheets and revision materials. Students will be required to provide any textbooks/revision guides for the syllabus they are studying. (At A level and above all students should have their own books).
I can also offer tuition in gcse maths and science specialising in foundation level (5-1 or C-G papers).
Whether you are a prospective student wanting to start your course with good subject knowlege, an AS student looking to progress to A level or a current student wanting to improve your grade - I can support you.

Teaching Experience:

Two years experience tutoring psychology at A level and gcse maths and science. One year experience as 1:1 SEN support teaching at gcse level across curriculum and teaching psychology at A level. Also, one year experience running the psychology department at a college.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to build confidence in my students - to help them develop their subject knowledge whilst teaching techniques for approaching exams effectively. I believe in a student centred approach, where the student is encouraged to learn for themselves under the guidance of the teacher.

SEN tuition: I can cater my teaching to the students individual needs. I have experience with a wide range of needs including autism friendly education. My aim is to break down learning into manageable chunks.
