| Personal Description: I am an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking teacher who cares about the education of the children I teach. I can adapt to different environments and can support children by helping them reach their highest learning potential. |
Teaching Experience: I gained my PGCE in Primary Education from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2001 and have taught for over 2 and half years now. I have also bolstered my classroom teaching with invaluable experience within the business sector. Prior to my PGCE I have worked with all types of children from different backgrounds in play schemes, youth centres, play groups and special needs schools. |
Tutoring Approach: I am very flexible in my approach and realise it is very important for the child to feel comfortable and confident to answr and ask questions throughout session. I like to start with mental warm ups and then teach and leaving homework to consolidate the learning from the tutoring session. |

| Personal Description: I am a student at the University of Bristol, training to be a vet. I love reading and art and also enjoy sport such as running and swimming. I am calm and patient which I feel is important for tutoring. I'm also enthusiastic about learning, graduating this year from Bristol with a degree in Veterinary Pathology and will continue my clinical training for a further two years. |
Teaching Experience: I worked tutoring in the Aamana supplementary school which is located in St Pauls, Bristol. The work was part of a scheme organised by my university to encourage children to consider higher education. I tutored for a year, teaching children whose first language was not English. I helped students with home work and tutored english, maths and science up to GCSE level, working with students on a one-to-one and small group basis. I found this work frequently challenging but also very rewarding. Other experience has come from my veterinary training, an ability to explain difficult concepts is vital for work as a veterinary surgeon and is strongly encouraged, I have often been involved in helping students in years below me. |
Tutoring Approach: I will try to make tutoring as fun and interesting as possible. I get quite excited about learning and hope to encourage this also in the students I tutor. I have never tutored privately before, but I promise to bring passion, patience and lots of enthusiasm. By setting tasks for the student each session which we can then go over together I can build up a picture of what the student is good at and what areas need work, and I also feel that this helps the student to gain a feeling of achievement. I will also try to work closely with the work that will be set by the school. |

| Personal Description: I have recently graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in English Literature. I am a friendly, honest and flexible person, with a true passion for literature. |
Teaching Experience: Aiding in the construction of personal statements for University entrance applications AS Level English Literature Essay construction technique for first year undergraduates |
Tutoring Approach: I believe in dialogue as well as instruction and so encourage the active participation of pupils; the sharing of ideas to achieve a deeper understanding of a given text. I feel it is important that the student's own interpretations are incorporated into the framework of a session, to stimulate both their literary technique, their creative imagination and their analytical skills. I do, however, provide documents with important information and extra reading if necessary, to support study. Above all, I believe tutoring should encourage both a relaxed yet productive atmosphere, allowing a pupil to develop and refine their own ideas and interpretations. I hope my sessions are instructive, fun, and inspire confidence. |

| Personal Description: I'm a bright hardworking A level student who is very used to helping peers with homework. I am starting my last year of A levels and will be studying Maths, Physics, Spanish and Music. I plan to go to University but am not yet sure what to study. I play the piano and will soon be sitting grade 8. I have taught the piano for over two years. I achieved 11A*'s and one A in my GCSE's so I would be happy to help pupils with other subjects apart from those listed. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught the piano for over 2 years. I currently have four pupils, two of which are working towards grade 3. (They were complete beginners when they started.) I have helped many people in school with challenging Maths or Physics problems and also helped with Spanish homework. In September I will start to tutor a pupil to help them work towards an A* in GCSE Physics. I have not taught music theory officially before but I would be happy to help pupils work towards music theory grades up to grade 5. |
Tutoring Approach: I have three younger brothers so am very used to children. The pupils I teach at the moment range between the ages of 10 and 15, but would be happy to teach any age. I find learning fun and I aim to do the same for my pupils. I aim to make pupils understand and not just learn and repeat back what they have learnt. There is no point in just memorizing something if you don't understand why the answer is what it is. This is especially important with complex subjects such as Maths and Physics. Maths is easy once you understand it, all the test can throw at you is the same problem but with different numbers. The method of solving it is the same. |

| Personal Description: Hi there, I'm Bruno. I'm bilingual in both English and Italian, and have picked up both French and Spanish to a standard of A* GCSE and A at A level. I also play piano, having passed my Grade 8 exam last year. |
Teaching Experience: Aside from tutoring, I currently teach piano to children at a local youth centre, which I have found has helped my teaching methods considerably. Not only am I naturally enthusiastic when it comes to working with kids; I am also young, patient and experienced. |
Tutoring Approach: I like to take an informal approach to tutoring. I have learned that children learn quickest when they are relaxed and having fun. I will provide learning material and set homework on a regular basis to further challenge and stretch my pupils. |

| Personal Description: I am 30 years old and have a Masters Degree in Mathematics. At the moment I am tutoring students from KS3 to A-Level in Mathematics. I can teach up to Degree level as well. I have high expectations of pupils and achieve results by creating an encouraging and friendly environment. |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching for almost 8 years. The pupils I am teaching at the moment find me patient and dedicated to identify the weakness and act accordingly by totally involving the students in the process of learning. I do have the expertise in helping out the students who are coming back to studies after a long break and students can be prepared for the examination in 1 to 3 months time frame. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that all students can become good mathematicians and that one of the most important aspects of teaching is diagnostic feedback, that is identifying and rectifying pupils' misconceptions. Simply grading work is not productive - students should get guidance as to how they may improve their performance |

| Personal Description: I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with 20 years experience within various industries (mainly aerospace and medical engineering). I live with my partner, 3 dogs and two (soon to be 3) cats and hence enjoy long walks in the woods and on the beach (with the dogs!!). Since graduation with my first degree a BEng(Hons) in mechanical engineering I have gone on to study with the Open University where I obtained a BSc in Earth Sciences and I am currently trying(!) to learn German. |
Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring since starting to study for my PhD in 1999. I started tutoring students in Maths (undergraduate) and on completion of my studies I started to tutor in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, mainly at 'A' level. Since then I have tutored a large number of students and have covered most exam boards (mainly AQA, Edexcel & OCR) as well as ONC and HNC requirements. |
Tutoring Approach: I approach my tutoring by trying to find out where the problems with the students understanding lie. Is it a lack of understanding of the basic principles or the application of those principles to exam style questions. When I have understood the requirements I try and develop a plan based on these, this could be sample questions or exam papers. I also tyr and do as many exam style questions as poosible leading up to the exams to ensure the student is aware of the variety of ways a question about a topic can be asked. I also carry out regular recaps of the topics studied, as well as discussing and investigating other problems the student may have. I do not help with homework or assignments but am happy to review these with the student if they are unsure as to why they didn't get the mark they expected or the teacher's comments. |
