Personal Description:
I work for a large firm of city accountants in London. I have completed my chartered accountancy exams and will be a qualified chartered accountant as of the end of August 2015.

I studied French language and literature at Oxford University from which I graduated with a 2:1. I studied French, Latin and English at A-level.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught children of all age groups, from nine year-olds to A-Level students, in Latin, English, French and Economics. Most recently, I have tutored a thirteen year-old boy, helping him to pass his Common Entrance exams and get into Eton College with excellent results.

Tutoring Approach:

I can help anybody with speaking and writing the French language as well as analysing a broad range of French literature. For English, I can assist anyone with the creative, linguistic and grammatical side of the subject as well as the critical analysis of both set texts and unseen passages. For Latin, I can help with literary analysis and translation, both Latin-to-English and English-to-Latin. My style of tutoring is flexible - it is entirely dependent upon the nature of tutoring that is required.

Personal Description:
I have been teaching full time for some years preferring to work in the private tutition/coaching area because the personal satisfaction is higher.

I have a first class honours degree in chemistry from the University of Leicester, a DPhil from the University of Oxford and a PGCE [Chemistry] from Oxford.

I keep up to date with my subject through regular Continuing Professional Development activities including reading about the subject and attending seminars and courses.

I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a Chartered Chemist and a Chartered Scientist.

Teaching Experience:

I was Head of Chemistry at Eton College [the famous public school] for four years and taught part time students chemistry at the University of Northampton.

Since 1989 I have been an Associate Lecturer in chemistry with The Open University teaching part-time students by distance learning and at Summer Schools. I currently teach an Open University chemistry course.

I have been coaching students in science and maths for over 30 years. Post-16 I have extensive specialist background in chemistry for Edexcel, OCR and AQA at AS and A2, including Salters, A-level plus I have experience of the International Baccalaureate, PreU and supporting vocational courses and home schooled students.

I have supported students in chemistry, biology, physics [as triple or double science, for the AQA, Edexcel and OCR syllabuses (including 21st Century science)] and maths at GCSE/IGCSE for many years and for helping with Independent School entrance. I have also supported students studying for equivalency testing for career development.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient, friendly and successful teacher specialising in chemistry at GCSE and A-level [and university level]. In addition I have extensive experience of tutoring science and mathematics to GCSE level. My experience covers helping students of all ages [from primary to adults] and from all backgrounds. I have a good sense of humour, am used to teaching on-line and in 1:1 situations. My approach is to boost a students` confidence in a relaxed environment resulting in greater success and self-belief which results in more enjoyment - and success - in the subjects being studied. Over the years I have successfully helped hundreds of students to achieve success.

In-between sessions students can contact me by email or telephone for support with exam questions or school work at no extra charge rather than waiting until the next meeting.

I am free to meet with students if the day time if this is more convenient. Alternatively I have a lot of experience of teaching via Skype if this is preferred. At the moment I only have one slot free on a Tuesday and one on a Wednesday

Currently I am teaching:

4 A-level chemistry students, 2 via Skype
1 IB chemistry student
2 GCSE science students
2 Home taught students
1 IGCSE chemistry, physics and biology student

Personal Description:
I have been tutoring academic subjects for the last 6 years, whilst coaching/mentoring from the age of 18.

I have a long-standing interest in helping young people beyond just the curriculum and passing exams. I have a Masters in Positive Psychology from UEL, the 1st in Europe to offer the course and 2nd in the world. This new science focuses on building strengths, whilst promoting good well-being and helping to prevent mental ill health.

I have been lucky to have received some very kind references from tutees/parents I have worked with previously; you can take a look at these at the bottom of my profile if you wish.

Teaching Experience:

My core tutoring experience is focused around the individual Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), English and Mathematics, for both secondary school (up to GCSE-level) and primary school.

Beyond this, previous experience has also extended to:

- GCSE German
- Primary school - English
- Entrance examinations - for primary and second schools (including verbal & non-verbal reasoning)
- UCAS application forms, personal statements, job applications, CV writing, etcetera

(I also provided Tennis coaching at Summer camps, through Tennis England, from 2005 - 2007; this included both 1-to-1 and group lessons for children aged 4-15).

I will always be completely honest as to my capabilities/limitations, and will be advise accordingly in certain instances where I do not think I am best placed to help.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student has a different personality, and will have specific ways of learning suited to them. Recognising this, my approach is personalised, friendly and supportive, with the focus on getting the best for the individual student.

My approach is take on the combined role of a tutor and mentor, relating their academic goals to their own day-to-day lives as a whole, and future aspirations of the students that I work with - my four years working in the recruitment field also helps here.

As previously mentioned, I have a deep interest in mental health and wellbeing of students; simply put, the happiest students perform at their best. I feel that there is much value to be added here.

Furthermore, effectively "bridging the gap" as a key point of contact between the student & their respective parents/guardians is crucial; I liaise regularly with parents and guardians of my students, keeping them up-to-date with the tutoring sessions, and how best to encourage positive development of their child.

REFERENCES:

"Jas tutored my son Nathan for his Chemistry and German GCSEs in 2013. I found him to be a reliable and conscientious young man and I was very happy with his services." - Dame Sally (Director of Academies South for United Learning)

"Hi Jas - Alfie got 3 B's for each of his sciences! He only just missed an A for Chemistry. He is absolutely delighted despite school's wish for A's. Thank you for all your help - there is no doubt it made a huge difference to him. You were a total star to him - and the summer has been good to him - his confidence is finally starting to improve & I think it's a lot down to your encouragement and believing in him. We went away just after getting the results - my biggest apologies for being so slow to get news to you. Very best wishes, Kris" - Kris (Head of Art Therapies, East London Foundation NHS Trust)

Jas has tutored our daughter for the last few months in Chemistry, Biology and Physics at GCSE level. Jas was very reliable, committed and enthusiastic in his role and we feel our daughter greatly benefitted from his tutoring. He was always encouraging and recognising her needs were beyond the academic, spent time developing her confidence in the academic subjects he was teaching her as well as also encouraging her self-belief. He appeared sensitive to her needs and adapted the work accordingly. Jas also demonstrated great insight in what motivated our daughter and went out of his way to make every session engaging and enjoyable.

Jas also developed a positive, professional relationship with both my husband and I, keeping us well informed about our daughter's progress and what support we could give her. I feel that this wider, more holistic approach, really helped our daughter feel better about herself, as well as develop a positive approach towards her exams which she has now entered with considerably more knowledge and confidence than had she not worked with him.

I also recommended Jas to a friend who's son was also doing his GCSE's and she told me how pleased they were with the help he had been able to give to him.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Jas to others who are looking for GCSE tutoring."

- Emma & Paul (Emma - Drama Therapist (HCPC Registered), Paul - Head of Maths Department, secondary school)

"Jas has helped Daniel enormously with his maths and science over the past few months in preparation for the upcoming GCSE's. He is a charming and good humored person who Daniel relates to quite well which made the two hours tuition every Saturday morning not such a chore! Both Daniel and I, as a parent, would certainly recommend Jas to any future students." - Denise

Personal Description:
I am 21 years old, calm, confident and friendly. I am very passionate about mathematics. I am very patient, especially because I know how much is expected of students nowadays.

Teaching Experience:

I studied GCSEs at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School for 5 years, and then I studied A Levels at Clitheroe Royal Grammar Sixth Form for 2 years.
I have tutored some of my relatives before, mostly for Maths at GCSE level, but I have also tutored them for Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSEs on multiple occasions.
For Maths, I am familiar with the OCR specification for GCSE, and the Edexcel specification for A Level.
For Chemistry and Biology I am familiar with the AQA specification, both at GCSE and A Level.

Tutoring Approach:

Everyone is different and learns in their own way; my aim is to find a style of learning that best suits each student, and also to identify any topics they may be struggling with and work on them.
I aim to develop good relationships with my students in order to make them feel comfortable. From my personal experience, I know that anyone's ability to learn is improved when they are more relaxed. I want to ensure that the learning environment is suitable for the student to maximise their potential.
I like to ensure that the student has a fundamental understanding of a topic before moving on to exam technique, exam style questions and revision.

Personal Description:
I am a recently qualified (July 2011) English teacher with four years of experience, teaching in secondary schools in Lincolnshire. I graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge in 2010 and, during my time there, gained experience teaching English as a second language and mentoring young people at home with special educational needs.
In my spare time I enjoy painting and exhibiting / selling my art and performing as a vocalist at various open mic nights in Lincolnshire as well as reading copious amounts of fantastic and terrible literature! I also love cooking for friends and family.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher with Bishop Grosseteste University College, Lincoln in 2011. My training schools included Christ Hospital, Banovallum and De Aston. I taught English and Media at Sir William Robertson School for three years and then spent a year at North Kesteven teaching English and Communication & Culture with added responsibility in developing Key Stage 3 to support the requirements of the new national curriculum and GCSEs. I have also privately tutored and mentored special needs students under the 'son-rise' programme and taught English as a foreign language to adults and students in India and Romania. I have been teaching privately since 2015.

Tutoring Approach:

After four years of teaching in schools in Lincolnshire, I had a revelation! My favourite moments in the classroom have always been those quiet conversations with individual students during and after classes that often lead to major learning breakthroughs. And that's when I realised that, with only a small change, I could dedicate my career to being in this role. As such, my approach is very much student lead and I can plan sessions according to your preferred learning style, stage and areas of difficulty.

Personal Description:
I am enthusiastic, supportive and encouraging teacher. I have a broad and wide love of literature but a special love for Shakespeare and Literature of the Romantic period, especially Mary Shelley and her contemporaries. I am also an enormous fan of modern American
and realist drama and Greek tragedy. I run a theatre company, study a masters and love singing, performing and writing.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for seven years - working as a private tutor for several bespoke companies in London, working abroad in Greece and Spain and in the UK at Stamford and Oakham Schools.

I am endlessly fascinated with the way in which Literature acts as a gateway to understanding life and, in turn, the superb ability of writers to capture and reflect the world they live in through written expression. Of equal importance to me, is the connection of Literature to all other subjects and I believe in introducing students of all ages to different texts and genres; I relish discussion of a single word, alongside considering a text in light of its historical context. I believe I am an energetic and enthusiastic teacher and I take enormous pleasure in helping students to give of their very best. Whilst I am excited by intellectual curiosity and rigorous debate, I love working with less able students and helping them to realise their own potential. A few of my students with severe dyslexia have achieved very highly in their IGCSE and AS examinations, in addition to the most able students gaining their predicted grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in finding opportunities for the students to enjoy the texts they study, in addition to coaching them rigorously in the necessary set of analytical skills they need to write top notch essays or descriptive/narrative pieces. I enjoy assisting students at all stages of their education and have experience in teaching all key stages. In addition to preparing students thoroughly for public examinations, I have been able to help pupils explore a variety of texts and genres and discover the joy of great writing

I enjoy helping students contemplating Higher Education - having helped students look at different courses, selecting modules and advising them on their personal statements; it has been rewarding to try and help students play to their individual strengths. I have delivered several specialist seminars for University applicants and assisted in delivering intensive mock interviews, both at Stamford and Oundle School, assisted with interviews and entrance examination preparation.

Personal Description:
I am a highly qualified maths and physics tutor with a keen grasp of the subject knowledge and a thorough understanding of the practice of learning. I am professional in the way I treat my clients and provide an expert tutoring service. My previous experiences allow me to connect with a wide range of pupils, allowing the kind trust required for a positive learning environment.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a maths teacher in 2004 and began tutoring in 2006. Since then I have taught students from age 9 to 40, and taught primary level up to first year degree maths and physics. In 2016 I became an examiner for OCR, marking exam papers.

Tutoring Approach:

I mainly seek to fill in the gaps in students' knowledge in the subject, using and teaching, techniques and methods for absorbing subject knowledge, and passing exams.
I build a solid relationship with the pupil and create an atmosphere conducive to learning. I tailor the structure of the lessons to the individual needs of the student both at a long term level and within each lesson. We might work through topics that the student is weak in, or start new topics, review and practice exams, or discus meta-exam technique, as required by the situation. I follow the National Curriculum closely, and make heavy use of specimen and past exam papers for GCSE/A-Level candidates.

Personal Description:
I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. Teaching physics is a great privilege and pleasure having taught A Level physics for both OCR and Edexcel boards as well as GCSE and iGCSE physics and chemistry. I am currently in the process of creating an A-level OCR physics course for an Oxfordshire school which is both challenging and hugely rewarding as I know it will be used for the A-level students for years to come.

Here are a few testimonials of previous tuition:

From Martin 5/5: (A-Level Physics) Excellent!

We cannot praise Kevin enough. He has the rare combination of knowing his subject very thoroughly and able to communicate that knowledge in a way that immediately makes sense to the pupil. Plus he is clearly very enthusiastic about the subject and teaching others. Very inspirational.

Time keeping perfect. General manor, friendly and enthusiastic. You just know your child is going to enjoy the lesson and progress.

I have no doubt that our daughter will have improved her exam grades by at least a grade. Also her general interest and enthusiasm for the subject has improved.

Simon: 5/5 Our son is enjoying the sessions very much, Kevin has reinvigorated our son's enthusiasm for Physics and perfectly meets the mix of needs now; subject knowledge, teaching style, enthusiasm and targetted exam technique… brilliant!

Natasha: 5/5 Kevin tutored my son for maths and physics. He made the lessons interesting and fun and really helped him with the revision process. He was always prompt and cheerful. All in all, an inspiring teacher.

Siyu: 5/5 It's very useful for the exam. Thank you so much!.

Teaching Experience:

See below for my roles in different teaching posts in UK state and private schools:

Tutoring Approach:

I would use my experience in teaching to understand the specific problems the tutee has with the subject material and then work with them with appropriate materials and resources to overcome the areas of concern.

My experiences in schools range from organizing trips for science based activities and interests, accompanying pupils skiing as well as the world famous Magdalene College School choir to Europe and coaching rowing in London and Oxford schools for competitive events in London and Henley. I would use my experience with students to help develop a good working relationship.
