Personal Description:
I am 43 years old. I like being a teacher and I get true enjoyment from sharing my knowledge and skills with new learners, making them realize how easy learning can be and how much actually they do know already. I like helping young people enjoy learning and making learning easy for them. I am patient and adaptable and easy to talk to. I always discuss the needs of my new pupils very carefully and aim to build their confidence in the subject. As an Examiner with a well-known Board, I am able to help my students to maximise their potential using targeted revision and exam techniques.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher for 14 years. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I have worked in several schools now, gaining experience from working with a variety of learners of various ages and learning styles. I have worked within the requirements of more than one examing board, therefore I am quite familiar with all exam formats. I have been a tutor also for 10 years with very good results. Students do like me within first session, gaining confidence and self reassurance that they are capable of a lot already. Only some issues need re-addressing, building on their prior knowledge. I have been an EDEXCEL expert marker for six years now. I am recommended as a tutor by Emmanuel College and Cardinal Hume School in Gateshead, as both schools know me well. Among other teaching positions I have been a classroom teacher at Lord Lawson School in Birtley and Whitburn School in Sunderland. I have worked as an intervention teacher (one to one teacher) in a few schools already, due to my extensive experience gained along the pas years.

Tutoring Approach:

Within the first session, I discover the individual needs of my learners, their strengths and weaknesses. Then I devise a plan to address the whole programme of study within the number of weeks available, so no topic is ignored. I work simultaneously on exam requirements, but also on skill development, skills that the student can benefit from, outside the boundaries of a specific exam format. Students find themselves forgetting the time, often engrossed in their work, mentally challenged and stimulated. I set short homework at times, so that students can practise independently on those skills they develop with me, being reassured that they can transfer those skills further. I do provide learning materials which I do personalize for each student. I am very likable and I do make young learners be at ease within minutes of meeting them.

Personal Description:
APPOINTMENT SLOTS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE (as of May 2017):
Friday 7pm onwards and holiday times.

As a student, little came easy for me.

I learned the hard way.

Now, with over 20 years of teaching experience in a variety of institutions - from Oxbridge entrance to comprehensives on 'Special Measures' - I am young enough to remember my struggles and old enough to know better.

I know how to bridge that gap for my tutees.

Teaching Experience:

This is my eighth year as a full-time tutor, but I was a secondary school teacher for 19 years before that.

I have experienced many types of academic performance from high-performing grammar schools to comprehensives on 'special measures'. I have held a variety of positions of responsibility within schools, particularly in the pastoral system such as Head of Year. I have been a grade-A examiner for AQA GCSE Geography.

During the last eight years of 11 Plus entrance 15 out of my 25 students have passed. I have also successfully helped one parent and child through the appeals procedure for grammar selection. Furthermore, a 12 Plus tutee in 2011 was the only girl to pass and get a place at South Wilts. Three out of five 12+ and 13+ tutees I have taught have passed their exams.

I have taught numerous syllabi: in the last six years I have tutored AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC at A level Geography. Indeed, I taught the whole of the A2 Edexcel Geogaphy syllabus online to one a tutee in Moscow: he has now gained a place at Aston University. I have mainly tutored the AQA and Edexcel syllabi for GCSE Maths. It would be fair to say that the overwhelming majority of my A level tutees experience significant gains and regularly obtain A or B grades.

At the moment (March 2015) I have 20 tutees in total: this includes 4 home-school tutees doing a variety of subjects such as GCSE Maths and Geography as well as Key Stage 3 Maths, English, History, Geography, Citizenship and RE; three GCSE English tutees; one Key Stage 3 Maths tutee; two Key Stage 3 English tutees; three 12 Plus tutees; five Key Stage 2 Maths tutees; two GCSE Maths tutee; one KS5 numeracy tutee, one A Level Geography tutee and, finally, three GCSE Geography tutees.

I would say on average, across the year, I would have between 15 and 20 tutees each week. Nearer exam time, this can creep up to 25.

Tutoring Approach:

One size does not fit all . . .

Tutoring and learning should be natural and intuitive so that tutees can 'fly' by themselves.

To make the most of tuition, a tutee must be 'on-board'. If it's their idea - even better. A tutee that is in-charge of their own learning makes an excellent pupil.

As a tutor, I decide what is right for the tutee - not an institution. Parents often want someone who is familiar with the education system but independent enough to give an honest assessment. My main concern is the welfare of the tutee - not just their academic progress - nor the reputation of some teacher or institution. If something is not right for a tutee, no matter how forceful a parent might be or how much money I might lose, I simply will not do it. Each year there are a handful of tutees I turn away because of this.

In the first session I will try to identify what it is the tutee needs, and you may wish to quiz me in more detail. I will need access to school reports and examples of the tutee's work. Through discussion with my tutee and parental input it should become clear the reason for the tutoring.

From this 'snag' list, I will design a bespoke program to meet the educational needs of the tutee. It is flexible and, unlike a classroom situation, I can respond immediately to the needs of the tutee.

Homework will always be set, depending upon the demands placed upon the tutee by the normal school week. The tutee will be far more involved with learning than in a normal school class where they can 'hide', so prospective tutees need to expect plenty of chat and discussion, reviewing work and giving feedback.

For learning to be 'on the wing', to be natural and instinctive, tutees need to work hard without feeling the burden. This can only happen through enjoyment and a lot of laughter. That's my part: helping tutees to work really hard without realising it.

If at any point I feel unable to help, I won't just prolong tuition, or if our work has met its aims then I will call a halt. The point of tuition is not to need me anymore, so they can 'fly' all by themselves.

I offer two types of 'remote' tuition options at the moment:

i/ ONLINE FACE-TO-FACE TUITION: face-to-face on Skype is very good in dealing with syllabus issues and reinforcing and filling in the holes the class teachers leave behind. Face-to-face tuition lends itself well to visual resources such as diagrams, maps and pictures. It is primarily discussion-based and the tutee needs to take notes as we go along. I regularly send tutees files to prepare them for the lesson and to discuss in the lesson. If a tutee comes to face-to-face tuition and expects to be spoon-fed or entertained, it just won't work. Extra work can be set to test their written understanding. Usually, it is enough to go through topics the student struggles with. Once they 'click' with the topic/issue, we move onto other areas. Payment for this type of tuition is a flat fee each week to cover lesson preparation and the lesson itself. The marking of substantial pieces of work outside of lesson time such as essays will incur a modest marking fee.

ii/ CORRESPONDENCE-STYLE WITH UNLIMITED EMAIL SUPPORT: work is set through powerpoints, pdf files and word documents for the student to do on their own in their own time. This should keep the tutee occupied for between 1-3 hours each week, unless more is required. It is then returned to me within the week. I mark it and provide feedback in the form of an audio file (up to 30 mins), talking them through the various issues. Any amounts of email conversations to help the student with this particular piece of work are allowed, after feedback has been given. This is very much an ongoing and open-ended commitment, once work has been set and feedback given, and the student is totally free to contact me with any issues. As a result, the payment structure is open-ended and depends on the amount of time used to prepare resources, mark and give audio feedback. This is added up at the end of each week, and the client is then billed. Follow-up emails and support are not timed but are considered as a 'free' part. Generally, this time will be from about 45-90 mins per week. I keep a track of the time minute to minute and endeavour to keep the time used as short as possible while setting about 1-3 hours of work. This is very much a trust system of working. I tailor the work individually to suit the student as opposed to an ordinary correspondence course that just covers syllabus content.

Please be aware that I do charge for travelling over 30 miles (roundtrip: 15 miles each way):
30-40 mile roundtrip - 5
41-50 mile roundtrip - 10
51-60 mile roundtrip - 15
61-70 mile roundtrip - 20

Personal Description:
As a motivated, organized and dynamic individual, I feel I can bring so much to the teaching profession. From a very young age I had an interest in computers and Teaching, and a wonder of how they worked. These fascinations lead me to pursue a bachelor's degree in computing, and then I continue to excel in Technology and did my Masters in Information Technology. Then along with my teaching job, I feel that I had developed deep interest in Web Technologies so I did my masters in Computer Applications.
I first realized I would like to become a teacher at secondary school so I continued my career as a teacher in ICT for about 4 years in various schools and really enjoyed working with all key stages. I have got versatile experience of teaching Physics and basic sciences to GCSE students as well. I had a good rapport with my Head Teachers and this has influenced me greatly to pursue a career in teaching.
I believe in teaching with live resources , practical activities , demonstrations , full theory support and assessing my student's honestly so see how my teaching is going on and do I need to make any changes in session plans to make it more innovative. I am a person full of enthusiasm and knowledge.
I believe teaching is not simply only to get students a job -- although this is part of the material equation -- it is about providing students with a set of conceptual tools that can be, and ultimately will be, used in a variety of disparate contexts. It is in other words, about inspiring students to think -- in- and out-side of the classroom.

Teaching Experience:

I got 4 years of Overseas Teaching experience as an ICT Teacher . I have taught Computer Science , Web Technologies and Information Technology in various Secondary schools. I am well versed in English and have done my Bachelors in First Division and my Double Post Graduation in Computer Applications and Information Technology with distinction.
I have achieved Level 3 in Preparing to Teach in Life Long Learning sector (PTLLS) from Filton College , Bristol. I have achieved certification in Web Professionals and achieved ISTQB Certified Tester status as well .
I have more than 5 years of working experience in Retail and Customer services which has helped me to strengthen my communication skills, problem solving skills , experience of working in a fast paced atmosphere with a knowledge of operations , cash handling , audit operations , participating in various discussions in the company at partner level.
My Recent Tutoring students includes students from Winterbourne Academy , City of Bristol College , Filton college and Bradley Stoke Community School and mentoring overseas software testing projects online.

Tutoring Approach:

I am able to motivate my students by using creative and inspirational methods of teaching.
I have great sense of humour which reduces barriers and lightens the atmosphere especially during heavy periods. An ability to make your students laugh will carry you far and gain you more respect. It also increases our confidence level and ease off any nerves in students and as a result students feel more engaged in the lessons and I get a good response which motivates me more to explore more with my learner.

I always prefer to do detail research for my students , their preferred learning styles and any barriers if they have.
I know my students can be visual, auditory or kinaesthetic learners. I have a dept at creating presentation styles for all three. My body language is my main communicator and I keep it positive at all times.
I know that the aggression, negative attitudes and behaviours that i see in some of your students have a root cause. I know that they are really scared young people who have come through some bad experiences in life. This keeps me calm and in control of me, of them and the situation.
I know that no one is more important in the world than anyone else. I know that everyone has a place in the world. I respect my peers and my students. Having that respect for others gets you the respect back from others.
I know that you can change a young person's life by helping them to realise their potential, helping them to grow, helping them to find their talents, skills and abilities.
I am passionate about what I do. Teaching young people is my true vocation in life. My purpose in life is to make a difference.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am Rossella, I am Italian and I moved to London 11 years ago. Italian is my mother-tongue but I am perfectly fluent in English. I have a Diploma in languages (Liceo Linguistico, Mantova, Italy) and a degree in Economics and Tourism (University of Bologna, Italy). Now I am a full-time mum of two boys who are growing up speaking both Italian and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor since moving to London, mainly one to one and also small groups (max 3 people).
I have been registered with UKtutors for 4 years now. Through UKtutors I have been teaching Italian to adults only, most of them beginners. I am very proud of what my students have achieved and are still achieving. Most of them only knew few words and are now able to hold a proper conversation in Italian. I have also been working with young people studying for their A-level and university students.

Tutoring Approach:

Since each student has their individual way of learning, I think it's important to discuss it at the very beginning in order to make sure that the tutoring is efficient and enjoyable. For example, there are some students that learn better by listening and repeating and others that need to write and read to learn the language; therefore each lesson is organised around the student's needs and learning skills. Both grammar and conversation are essential to learn and improve the language.
I also offer lessons purely based on travel, focusing on all aspects that tourists traveling to Italy are interested in, such as booking hotels and restaurants, asking for directions, being able to use public transports.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a 2:1 in French Studies. During my 3rd year I lived in Montreal where I studied French, Spanish, and Italian at McGill University. After graduating I qualified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language and spent the next few years teaching English in the UK and Paris as well as travelling to Spain, where I lived for three months.
In 2005 I gained a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) from The University of Bath. From 2005 to 2006 I taught in a variety of primary and secondary schools before taking a permanent post at Matravers School in Wiltshire, where I worked for five years and gained internal promotion to second in department in 2010. During my time at the school I prepared students for both GCSE and A Level exams.
I also led trips to both Paris and Barcelona to give students a taste of life in these countries and an opportunity to practise their language skills in real life situations.
I have been working as a private tutor since 2012 and also work as an examiner for both AQA and Edexcel, marking the writing component of the French and Spanish GCSE. I recently completed a Master's in Technical and Specialised Translation (with distinction) from the University of Westminster.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years experience of teaching French and Spanish in a permanent post and currently work on a casual basis in various secondary schools in the Barnet area. I have been working as private tutor since 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a positive working relationship between tutor and student is the cornerstone of a successful learning experience. I aim to make my students feel at ease and safe to take risks in order to build their confidence and experience success. I tailor-make lessons to each individual student's learning needs and preferences so that the student is always at the centre of the learning process. Personal Description:
I have recently completed a PhD in the law school at the University of Glasgow. My research is interdisciplinary and spans three areas: criminal justice - specifically jury research; critical pedagogy - specifically Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed and interactive theatre - specifically Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed. I have a rich experience in life having previously worked for 10 years in the music business as a classical clarinet player. I have travelled extensively and have lived and worked as a teacher in Singapore. I am passionate about teaching and where possible use critical pedagogy as a means to develop the best in each student that I meet. I am a relaxed personality and I believe that where dialogue is enabled between teacher and student a critical awareness of the subject can be achieved. I believe in encouraging each student to discover his best self in his educational journey.

Teaching Experience:

I have a great deal of teaching experience which covers all age ranges and abilities. When working in Singapore I worked as a teacher of children aged 5-12 at the Julia Gabriel Speech and Drama centre as well as developing the music course at the sister pre-school, Chiltern House where I worked with younger children aged between 3 and 4 years. In Scotland I have worked as a tutor and lecturer at the University of Glasgow Law School teaching criminal law and evidence to first year LLB students; at Strathclyde University I have been the course coordinator for contract law and a tutor for criminal law, evidence and criminology, each course was for LLB and LLB hons students. I was the course coordinator for criminal law and family law at the University of the West of Scotland and I have worked as a tutor at Glasgow Caledonian University in Glasgow. I current;y work as a Study Skills Tutor at the University of Glasgow where I support students who may have dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHA, asbergers or any number of mental health issues, in their university studies.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that each person has the ability to grow and become empowered through education. I have a relaxed and critical approach to tutoring. I believe that people are able to develop their own skills and potential when dialogue is established. I see my part as the tutor as key in encouraging the student to develop his best self. I have experience working with a diversity of people and I know that through developing a space where a person believes in himself a positive attitude to achieving the best results is possible. I am a very patient and versatile character and I am unafraid of adapting my style to suit the needs of the students.

Personal Description:
Hey lovelies! Looking for an Italian tutor? I guess you might want to find out more about me:
My name is Aisha and I am an Italian citizen, who lived in Italy almost all my life. I have moved to England only 5 years ago, so I have a clear understanding of both education systems and I am able to give you TOP tips to pass your Italian GCSE exam!

Teaching Experience:

I am 18 years of age, therefore I am not a teacher "per say", however I taught my cousins mathematics and other subjects and they always get top grades. Therefore why not teach my native language? I have myself went through the process of taking GCSE Italian and I can truly say it is very simple, once you understand what the examiner wants.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons will be very education and fun at the same time, to enable the tutees to engage with the subject. You will learn about Italian art, history, literature and current affairs. There will be a heavy focus on developing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

My first session will always be half price.

Personal Description:
I am a highly qualified maths and physics tutor with a keen grasp of the subject knowledge and a thorough understanding of the practice of learning. I am professional in the way I treat my clients and provide an expert tutoring service. My previous experiences allow me to connect with a wide range of pupils, allowing the kind trust required for a positive learning environment.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a maths teacher in 2004 and began tutoring in 2006. Since then I have taught students from age 9 to 40, and taught primary level up to first year degree maths and physics. In 2016 I became an examiner for OCR, marking exam papers.

Tutoring Approach:

I mainly seek to fill in the gaps in students' knowledge in the subject, using and teaching, techniques and methods for absorbing subject knowledge, and passing exams.
I build a solid relationship with the pupil and create an atmosphere conducive to learning. I tailor the structure of the lessons to the individual needs of the student both at a long term level and within each lesson. We might work through topics that the student is weak in, or start new topics, review and practice exams, or discus meta-exam technique, as required by the situation. I follow the National Curriculum closely, and make heavy use of specimen and past exam papers for GCSE/A-Level candidates.
