I am a graduate from Bristol University with a Masters Degree in Mathematics, specialising in Applied Mathematics and in particular, Quantum Mechanics. I am patient and friendly, and keen to pass on my enthusiasm for the subject.
I am an avid musician and devote much of my spare time to playing piano and guitar, both of which I play in my band. I am also a big fan of going to gigs/festivals, barbeques, playing sport and hanging out with friends.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a private tutor since September 2011 and have had a great deal of success, the most recent of which including students being accepted to study at both Oxford and Cambridge, all of my A-Level students achieving A/A* grades, and a mature student whom I taught Further Maths from scratch has received an offer and is now studying Physics at Surrey University.
I taught in a school in Bristol as part of my studies which included a lesson a week whereby I taught algebra to a group of students from Somalia with very limited English skills. I have also spent 3 weeks teaching and assisting in a local school in Guildford.
I have worked with students of all abilities and so am able to pitch my explanations at the appropriate level for the student, and have been praised for my ability to provide clear and concise explanations, and my friendly approach to teaching. I am young, enthusiastic and experienced in exam preparation and revision techniques.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer teaching Maths by explaining concepts at a fundamental level, following up with well-worked examples of the theory in action. This is because in my experience, to understand something properly you need to understand not only where it came from but how it's properly applied.
I normally draw up sheets with all the vital information about a topic for the student so that they have something they can refer to quickly to find what they need. In the past I have set a few problems for the student to do in between lessons and we would then look at them together the following week, and of course I am happy to go through problems together that the student is struggling with.

I am an Italian engineer who lives in London. Teaching Experience:

- Since I`ve been in London I have taught Italian to an English couple who have travelled to Italy many times, are really fond of the culture but have never got down to learning the language. I`ve also taught a Japanese woman who lives in the City and has working relationships with Italy. References available on request.

Moreover, I have tutored a 17 year old student form East Dulwich to prepare for and successfully pass his A-Level Maths exams. Reference available on request.

- In 2008 I worked as a teaching assistant in a kindergarten in Reykjavk for 8 months. This kindergarten had a special program of integration between kids with special needs (especially hearing impaired ones) and kids with no special requirements, which showed to be very successful. Besides assisting the teachers in taking care of the children daily, I was responsible of having a short weekly session to introduce children to English as a foreign language through playing and singing, which turned out to be very appreciated and great fun.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is, without any doubt, one of the most important jobs ever. This might sound a cliche but it is what I really think. With almost 30 years spent as a student to gain two university degrees, I have encountered teachers form all over the world and experienced the most different teaching methods. A teacher can make the difference in a persons life, in a good or in a bad way. A good teacher can be a source of inspiration and can make you love a subject that you would have never imagined you could like otherwise. When teaching the student's benefit is the prime goal, this means that the teacher has to be able to understand what the student needs to access a specific subject, understand it, retain the information and be able to reuse it proactively whenever it is required of him. Since, as a private tutor, I work one on one with a student, I aim at creating a healthy and effective relation where the student feels comfortable to express what he/she doesn't understand and he/she can develop a positive attitude towards learning the subject under examination. Every student is unique, therefore the method used for each student is different. I plan to have a first session where I can assess what it is required of me and whether I am able to constructively interact with the student and then build a teaching program from that. I will commit to plan every session at home and come prepared to teach what is needed and I will expect that the student commits to doing his/her best to do his/her reading and homework.

I am an experienced teacher of both classics and modern languages, and have taught in a variety of secondary schools. I have stopped classroom teaching now because of the demands of a young family but I am keen to carry on teaching in a different capacity. I am passionate about languages, words and communication and love to share this with others. I have lived abroad for prolonged periods in France and Italy, and travel to see friends there whenever possible.

Teaching Experience:

Since completing my PGCE in 1992 I have taught Latin, Greek, French and Italian, from beginners to A level and Oxbridge, in secondary schools, both private and state. More recently I have been giving private lessons to both adults and teenagers.
***PLEASE NOTE THAT I TEACH ANCIENT GREEK, NOT MODERN! The UK tutors website does not give Ancient Greek as an option in the drop down list. I am not able to teach modern Greek.

Tutoring Approach:

Successful language teaching should combine a fun approach using oral practice including song lyrics and games with a more structured approach to grammar; this gives the student confidence that they really understand the language used. The advantage of private lessons is that I can focus on what the individual learner wants, which might be lots of oral practice to become more proficient at speaking, or to pass a specific exam. I do like to set homework from week to week as this is an important part of progress; but it is not compulsory!

I am a warm, engaging person with a great enthusiasm for teaching. I gained a Class 1 BA (Hons) Drama and Theatre Arts Degree from the University of Birmingham and I have a Masters in Acting from Guildford School of Acting. English has been an enormous part of my higher education as Drama is so heavily rooted in English Literature.
Drama and English has always been such a source of inspiration for me and I love sharing my passion through teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Drama and the study of English text for over six years, mainly at Step on Stage Academy in Twickenham and on a self employed basis. I have taught little ones up to young adults and I enjoy teaching the entire range!

Following the completion of my A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Music I undertook an undergraduate degree in Music, as a part of which I was required to also study Maths during my first year. I have been playing Trumpet and Cornet for over 30 years now and have been teaching both Brass and Music Theory for the last 18 years. I regularly submit students for ABRSM exams and to date I maintain an exceedingly good pass rate for all my pupils who decide to undertake Grade examinations in both their instruments and Music Theory. I strongly encourage my pupils to undertake study of Music Theory as part of their lessons alongside their Practical Study, as experience has shown many students attain Grade V ABRSM with no substantial previous knowledge of this area.
As Grade V Theory is a requirement of the ABRSM before a student can be entered for a Grade VI examination on their instrument I feel that teaching the Theory alongside their instrumental studies assists in minimising the delay before a student can proceed to the higher examinations if they so wish. Further to this I believe it also allows them a better understanding of the music they are striving to perform. While I encourage my students to take the Grade examinations as a mark of their progress I am also happy to work with students who do not wish to undertake the pressures of certification but just wish to learn to play or improve their playing ability for their own enjoyment.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher who is enthusiastic and devoted to teaching. I am an organised individual who is always punctual.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide range of experience working with children within both KS1 and KS2. I qualified as a primary teacher 6 years ago and have worked full time in schools in Surrey, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.I have an excellent understanding of the objectives and expectations of the new National Curriculum and I am confident planning lessons to meet every child's needs. I am also familiar with a variety of new assessment tools that schools are using. I have a vast amount of experience preparing children for the year 6 SATS and entrance exams.

I also worked for a tutition company for 18 months. My role was to plan and teach small groups of children up to the age of 13.

For the last three years, I have worked as part of the senior leadership team to lead the school.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience. I enjoy making learning fun and interactive. It is important to tailor the lessons to meet the needs of each individual child. I believe that with the right teacher, all children can achieve their full potential.

Personal Description:
I am currently in my second year studying History at the University of Wolverhampton. My plan is to complete my degree and then go into secondary school teaching. I have experience teaching primary school maths in the form of an after school club with a company called Magical Maths. I have also completed a number of weeks work experience in Primary schools as well as playing the role of a teaching assistant in a high school.
I would say that my strongest subject is history, I have covered a number of different topics including; The Vietnam War, The Tudor Era, Totalitarian Dictatorships, and Witchcraft. I will use what I have learnt, and what I will continue to learn, to help students achieve their full potential. The skills that I have developed through my studies means that I am able to help with areas such reading and spelling.
Whether you need someone to simply help your child with their homework, or someone to help and improve your child's education I can help. I am a patient, kind person, with a fun nature when appropriate.
My availability will depend on my university timetable, and may change once or twice throughout the academic year.

Personal Description:
I am passionate about languages and I love every aspect about the process of language learning and teaching. Growing up I was always surrounded by books. My parents' personal library was incredibly diverse and spanned many genres of fiction and factual works, while also including classics of European and World literature. Exposure to such a wide variety of authors instilled in me a fascination with communication cross-culturally - which played a great role in my decision to enrol in a language degree. Since then, the training and experience that I have gained at different universities, in both the UK and abroad, have helped me develop a range of teaching methods meeting the needs of different learners. I firmly believe that teaching allows you to impart knowledge to others while also enabling you to grow as a person yourself.

Teaching Experience:

I am a native Italian speaker and a qualified teacher of Italian with more than 7 years of experience in teaching on both undergraduate courses at university level and evening classes for adults. I am currently running a number of classes on Italian language and literature at the University of Leicester, besides teaching for the university Adult Programme 'Languages at Leicester'. In 2013 I was awarded the prestigious American teaching scholarship, the Fulbright Assistantship, to teach at Wheaton College Massachusetts (U.S.) during the academic year 2013/2014. I am currently completing a PhD in Italian Studies at the University of Leicester and I hold a Masters in 'Teaching Italian as a Second Language' from Milan's Catholic University. Prior to moving to Leicester, in 2010-2011 I worked at the University of Kent, where I completed my teaching training as requirement of my Masters. I like to keep up-to-date with the latest trends in language teaching and I attend language conferences, either as a speaker or as audience, on a regular basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I always try to combine traditional methods with more innovative approaches, tending to regard the textbook as a tool to be integrated with fresh, lively and more personalised material, using visual stimuli (commercials and videos for example) as a way of enhancing this experience. I believe that these methods play a vital role in instilling practical communicative language skills that students can then reproduce in a creative and spontaneous way. I tend to follow a Communicative Approach, where the stress is on oral communication, while interactive student-centred learning is encouraged. Based on the acknowledgement that all communication has a social purpose, this approach focuses on language as a medium of communication. The aim is to guide students towards the acquisition of a notional/functional syllabus, inclusive of both notions (meanings and concepts to communicate) and the language needed to do so. The learning environment has to be a positive one, and with my tutees I always make sure that they regard me as somebody they can trust. My students have always responded positively to my teaching, which is reflected in the Award in Excellence in Service I received from the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies at Wheaton College (U.S.) in 2014.
