Personal Description:
Former RAF officer, and currently Company Director with wide community interests. Teaching Maths is a long term hobby.

Teaching Experience:

30 years as a private tutors, short periods teaching at Icknield and Cilterns Edge schools in Oxfordshire.

Tutoring Approach:

Different to a conventional school approach. I work from the relevance of maths/physics to real life and try to illuminate the subjects by treating them as life skills, and not just academic subjects.

Personal Description:
I am a senior epidemiologist and Research Lead within a healthcare organisation and I have studied biology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, parasitology and epidemiology at both under-graduate and post-graduate level. I also have a Master's in Public Health. I am interested primarily in human disease and work on vaccine-preventable diseases, infection and associated Human Papillomavirus-driven cancers. I have taught and lectured to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year undergraduates and to Master's students. I am fairly strict with regards to attention to detail and I believe that it is important to write accurately and in a concise but salient fashion. I am able to read, write and speak fluent French. I love my 2-year old daughter, mountaineering, ultra-marathons and Kettlebells.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a STEM ambassador for West of Scotland for the last 5 years, teaching biology and basic molecular biology, microbiology and immunology to primary and secondary school children.

Honorary lecturing duties at Glasgow University on molecular biology/microbiology/immunology in context of public health.

Module Leader for Outbreak Management and Epidemiology modules for M.Sc. in Infection Control, University of Highlands & Islands

External examiner for MSc in Infection Control, University of Essex (Kaplan).

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed - it is crucial to see how the student thinks and take it from there. Everybody is different and in order to understand where the difficulties may lie, one must take the time to appraise how the student is thinking and which areas are causing the most problems. Using a number of examples, it can often be revealing to the student when one thinks of a scenario in a different way. However, it is imperative that the student appreciates that the attainment of knowledge and the ability to reason and apply that knowledge comes from drive, enthusiasm and structured revision. After tutoring, I normally arrange for students to meet with my contacts in the field of biology and public health so that they may gain some extra practical experience and/or some work experience before their next career step. I have also tutored students who are at various points on the autism spectrum.

Personal Description:
I am a second year PhD student at the University of Nottingham having completed my integrated masters degree in Mathematics in the 1st Class. In my PhD I am investigating the effect of rotation on vortices in fluid flows. I hope to use my passion for teaching in further education.

Teaching Experience:

My past tutoring experience includes both GCSE and A level pupils helping them achieve the required grades to attend their university or college of choice.

At university I assist in undergraduate problems classes to assist the lectures in answering questions from the students.

I feel my age and recent undertaking of A-level and degree examinations gives a less formal and more comfortable tutoring experience whilst still maintaining a high quality of tutoring and I can understand the problems and difficulties students may come across as I will have hit these problems myself in the past.

Tutoring Approach:

Since I myself have recently completed my degree and not so long ago my A levels I feel I have an up-to-date understanding of these examinations and the perfect exam technique as well as the required academic content. I am able to empathise with students and provide techniques for understanding which worked for both myself and fellow students. Furthermore having taken A level further mathematics I would also be able to offer tutoring for students taking this as a full A-level or AS-level.

Personal Description:
PhD Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering

BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (First class honours)

Teaching Experience:

I have formal teaching/lecturing experience and working as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at a University in London. I have been tutoring privately physics and mathematics to number of GCSE and A-levels students for neary last ten years. I have also tutored various BEng level engineering modules to University students. Testimonials or references can be provided upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach is to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which students feel more comfortable and confident to raise questions. I like to listen to my students being at their level to address and identify the basic difficulties that they face in understanding the subjects. I try to involve the students in problem solving and present the subjects in an interesting manner with the help of useful hints that are often required and are proved to be helpful to provoke the original thought in order to improve their analytical and problem solving skills. I find myself committed and patient and I believe that such teaching skills make me ideal for tutoring. I frequently highlight the practical implications of the subjects where possible so that the students could relate the subjects to real world problems. I am happy to concentrate on the specific areas that the student struggles with. The focus of my approach is to prepare students for the final exams by developing the required skills such as time management, stress/pressure handling and analytical thinking etc. I believe, the deeper understanding of the mathematical sciences could only be achieved through the intensive practice.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is an individual and learns in a different way. I like to work with the student to identify any blocks that are holding them back; we gain enormous satisfaction from us moving past these together.

Personal Description:
Hi, I am 19 and currently studying engineering at The University of Sheffield. My interests lie very much in academia, majorly, in mathematics and physics. However I also spend my spare time swimming, cycling, socialising and travelling. I have been described as being approachable, easy to talk to and 'good at explaining things'. I offer my first hour of tutoring free of charge.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for over a year now and I had 8 regular students last academic session whom all gave positive feedback after sitting their exams. I also have tutored GCSE and lower school pupils in the capacity of a teachers assistant in my spare hours during my time in 6th form (a level studies). In terms of A-level maths, I teach C1, C2, C3, C4, M1, M2, FP1, D1.

Tutoring Approach:

I very much believe that the best way to teach is through clear explanation and, where possible, an explanation of the root of things. For example, where particular formulas or ideas are derived from. I also believe every student is different and may require different methods of teaching, perhaps not available in the classroom. I feel am suited towards students who may feel they learn better if they are tutored by someone who is more of a peer than a teacher. I currently only tutor online, as this allows me to offer more time slots to students.

Personal Description:
A First Class Masters Graduate in Civil Engineering from City University London, currently working as a Graduate Highway Engineer for the major international engineering firm Jacobs. As an Engineer, my role is primarily to solve problems, which I believe is a valuable skill to have at any level, something I wish to pass on to my students.I am more than happy to spend my hours out of work as a Maths and Eleven+ tutor. I have a huge passion for teaching. I believe I have a vast array of experience and knowledge to offer. As well as a strong background in maths, you can see form my studies I am also a keen artist and therefore love to use my creativity in teaching. I'm an extremely well organised individual and have in the past set up my own volunteering organisation for students.

Teaching Experience:

I have a range of experience in tutoring Maths for GCSE and A level students, as well as experience in tutoring students at foundation degree level. I have in particular worked with struggling students in the past, helping them from limited understanding to gaining a great degree of confidence and enthusiasm pre-examination. I also act as a professional mentor for an undergraduate student at City University, helping to develop essential life skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very easy going and honest person, eager to make learning fun and enthusiastic about teaching. I believe it is important for my students not to just learn but to understand. I am very flexible and able to adapt my teaching style to fit the ability of my student.

I am open minded and can relate to all different types of students and able to adapt my teaching style accordingly. I realize that there are many different forms of learning, broken down more primarily into visual and auditory as such. In modern society today, our concentration spans are consistently decreasing. The approach I like to take is to be demonstrative. This allows my students to engage with the subject, use their imagination and practical thinking. In turn, the students are more enthusiastic about learning and in this way more likely to understand the concepts as opposed to going through the motions. I always do my absolute best to maximize the potential of all my students.

My vision is for my students to not feel as if studying is a chore, but something they look forward to on a daily basis.

Personal Description:
I hold a full-scholarship academic PhD in English Drama and an MFA with Distinction in Shakespeare from the University of Exeter, as well as a first Class BA in Theatre from the University of British Columbia. I have published scholarly articles. Additionally, I have received relevant certifications in Teaching English as a Second Language and in radio presenting (and a slightly less relevant one in stage combat!).

I am a professional actor with experience in all media including the West End, and am a founding member of Hotspur Theatre Company. Additionally, I have professional experience as a playwright, theatre director, and teacher.

Teaching Experience:

From nursery school students to 16-18-year-olds, and undergraduates at the Universities of Exeter, Bath Spa, and Cumbria to postgraduates at the LAMDA drama school, I have taught students at almost every level. I have also coached adult professionals.

My key tutoring subjects are English, Drama, Shakespeare, English as a Foreign Language, Elocution, Voice and Speech, Public Speaking, Acting, and Research and Academic Writing. I look forward to helping you to achieve your best results!

Tutoring Approach:

All students are different, and therefore I vary my approach student-to-student. That said, my core approach includes my experience in drama, and I will often use play scripts as texts to analyse, or for language-building exercises and conversational scenarios. I have a substantial research and essay-writing background as well, so can offer useful insights into students' written work.

Personal Description:
I am a recent Masters graduate from the London School of Economics. Having spent the last 5 years in higher education, I feel I have the right skills and knowledge to tutor students from all ages. I have been tutoring various 11+, GCSE, and A-Level students for the past 10 years, as well as running various economics workshops for the LSE. The mixture of interaction and application I employ throughout all my tutoring sessions ensure students enjoy and get a great deal from my lessons.

Teaching Experience:

Taught economics workshops at the LSE to over 120 GCSE students.
Taught maths workshops to both GCSE and A-Level students. Most students I teach jump up at least 2 grades within a year.
Having successfully undertaken the 11+ entrance exams, and in doing so studied at one of the most renown grammar schools in London, I have taught many prospective students the tools to pass these rigorous exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Fun and interactive, with a strong desire to make sure the students fully understand the material. Where I believe I differentiate myself from other tutors is my ability to adapt to each student. This ensures each student has their own independent, unique class. No two students are the same, so why should the lessons be?

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Anna, and I am a KS1 and KS2 English and Maths tutor. I live in York with my partner, my 7-year-old son, and my puppy! I have a Psychology degree and am currently working as a Teaching Assistant alongside tutoring. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and dancing.

Teaching Experience:

I am a Level 2 Teaching Assistant currently working in a Year 4 class, but I have experience working with primary school children of all ages, from Reception through to Year 6. I am educated to degree level and really enjoy working with children and helping them learn.

Tutoring Approach:

I provide English and/or Maths tutoring to children of primary school age, and I am patient and supportive with all students. I have experience working with children with additional needs, and am more than happy to adapt to accommodate each student's individual needs.
