Personal Description:
My name is Marc and I teach self defence moves/techniques that work under fear induced situations, are natural movements using body mechanics and can been taught in a short space of time. I teach the best tried and tested self defence methods that can be incorporated into existing disciplines or used solely to enable individuals to successful defend themselves.
I was a boxer for 10 years with 2 of them being at a professional level.
As well as being a Self Defence Instructor, I am also a Service Delivery Manager, Parent Governor, recurve Archer, Records/Tournaments officer for Archery club, devoted Husband and Father or 2 beautiful daughters.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Natural Self Defence for 6 years on a one to one basis or in groups of 2 to 20 people. I offer to train people, 1-2-1 or in small groups, in their own homes so traveling to my course is not a problem. I have been a Manager within I.T for 22 years where I have had to teach all levels of personnel (from engineers to senior executives). Training includes technical, managerial, financial, procedural and personal development e.g. confidence building, goal setting, assertiveness and career progression.

Tutoring Approach:

I use handouts to enable people to take notes at particular sections of the training and also encourage open discussions on techniques, moves and legal implications of our actions. Each move is explained in detail and reasons why particular approaches are recommended.
Each week the previous weeks instructions are gone through and discussed in case a question has been thought of between sessions.
I encourage note taking whilst training to ensure the moves are not only phyiscally carried out/remembered but also mentally committed to memory.
I offer to train people, 1-2-1 or in small groups, in their own homes so traveling to my course is not a problem.

Personal Description:
Experienced Session Musician, with 11 years live and studio experience. 8 years tutoring experience. Two co-written South African chart singles, 8 studio albums ( session and co-writing ), three international releases. One South African National tour.

Teaching Experience:

Having started my own music college in South Africa 6 years ago and tutoring students on a one to one basis for the last year in London. My experience as a tutor is vast, not only do I have teaching/tutoring experience but also years of live session work in studio and on stage with various bands. Often co-writing singles that would go to chart.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is tailored to each individual. Obviously in group sessions this can become complicated but I do always give each student personal attention so that they are learning the way that best suits them. I find just teaching students theory tends to take the Joy of music away ( and Music is first and foremost about joy and love for the art ). At the same time, on the opposite side of the coin not teaching the student any theory can be destructive.

My approach entails a mixture of Technique, Theory, and a vast amount of Practical. Because of each student being an individual, I mould my approach in how I teach them in these three areas, to maximize their potential.

Personal Description:
Graduate with BA in English Language and Communication from Kings College London. Studied English Language, Media Studies and Sociology at GCSE and A-Level achieved grade A for each. Since university, I have been working in media / communications for well respected agencies and across several brands for the past four years.

I have been offering a tutoring service in English (Literature & Language), Media Studies and Sociology at all ages / levels for over four years and have built up a successful student base.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching English across all ages from primary school to helping adults at degree level. This includes previous tutoring experience, teaching English as a second or foreign language and teaching children in South Africa through a voluntary scheme. Along with English I can also provide tutoring in Media Studies and Sociology as these were subjects I achieved grade A in a A-level and were also a large part of my degree covering everything from grammar, linguistics to advertising. I also have experience in supporting children with language difficulties such as autism.

In addition to this, I can also support with any editorial requirements such as personal statements, CVs, proof-reading etc.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a calm, patient approach to teaching, treating each and every student as an individual with their own approach to learning which I believe is extremely important for any one-on-one tutoring. I will ensure that each session is maximised and that the progress of the student is measured on this in way that they feel comfortable with. Tutoring is about tailoring skills to suit the needs and work towards a goal, I will not place unnecessary pressure on the student or make them feel uneasy, I have 5 years experience in doing this and have built a great tutoring base so far. This is something I do because I have a passion for helping others and enjoy seeing the student make great progression with a little extra support.

I already have great experience in the areas mentioned above and this can extend to proofreading, checking grammar and other editorial requests for coursework, CV's, essays and dissertations.

Personal Description:
Hi there,
My name is Vera. I am a native speaker of German, fully qualified teacher and 28 years young. I have a B.A. in German and English and an A-level in French. My exam results are 100% pass rate at GCSE and A-level for the past four years with students achieving A* - C grades.
I have been living in England for 8 years now. In my free-time I love to read, I enjoy taking my dog for a walk in the countryside and I volunteer in the local Good Neighbours Scheme ... and lots more.
I think I am a good humoured and honest person and I love teaching people languages.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher with a starred first at Southampton University and worked in a secondary school until deciding to work as a private tutor only.
For more than 10 years now I have been teaching in schools or privately as well as working in translations, it is huge fun and I enjoy working with different people.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to assess the needs of the tutee and plan lessons accordingly. I think it is very important to know the grammar of a language in order to speak it fluently. However, at GCSE level for example it is more important to know vocabulary. Usually tutees know best what they need and what lessons they want.
Please note, prices are correct for when you come to my house. If you would like to meet somewhere or at your house, I charge 5 for petrol money and driving time.

Personal Description:
A graduate of Cambridge and Durham I have specialised in ancient languages and literature. While based in Durham I am currently completing a PhD in Old Norse literature at the Birkbeck College, University of London.

Teaching Experience:

As well as current private tutoring in English lit, Lang and Classics at all levels I am an undergraduate tutor at Durham University. I have strong experience helping students reach their full potential and gain the grades they need or higher. I have taught both online and in person, both at GCSE-adult. I was selected as an open day lecturer for Newnham college Cambridge in 2008 and I have attended several courses on lecturing in secondary and higher education both at Birkbeck and Oxford.

Tutoring Approach:

I seek to inspire my students with the same passion and interest I feel for language and literature, texts and contexts. I tailor my approach to the need of each student, but in general teach not by lecturing but by posing questions which lead the student to a greater understanding of text and context. I aim to show students how to enjoy the subject as well as teach them the means and methods to make their studying and writing easier. I have a great deal of experience helping students with exam and essay technique.

Personal Description:
I spent two years studying physics at Oxford University then transferred to Lancaster University where I achieved first class results in my first year.

I am aspiring to attend graduate school for mathematics or a mathematically related field.

Having excelled at mathematics in school, achieving several perfect scores in my A-Levels and achieving a Top Gold Award in the British Physics Olympiad, I am confident in my knowledge up to A-Level mathematics and physics and am well equipped to help struggling students.

For students looking to apply to Oxbridge/Imperial/UCL/Warwick (etc.), I am happy to help with STEP/PAT preparation.

Teaching Experience:

I was a mentor for several students during my A-Levels and would also take part in PAT revision classes for Oxford Physics applicants. This involved explaining solutions so that others may learn from them (and also having solutions explained to me).

One of my mentees obtained an A grade in their physics A-level, improving from a C grade, allowing them to pursue a degree in medicine.

Tutoring Approach:

My focus starts with making sure the student has a strong understanding of the underlying theory and how it was discovered/derived. Then we may move onto a variety of problems to solve, gradually moving upwards in complexity and making sure to sample all problem types to ensure we have covered all potential exam questions.

Once the student has covered a topic, we will revisit it and summarise it 2-3 times in the coming months to ensure long term understanding and memorisation. This is in addition to having moved on to the next topic.

I am also well read around maths and physics and have some experience with the current career climate and internship opportunities.

I am a native Chinese( Mandarin) speaker. Teaching Experience:

Help out higher and NAT5 accounting classes and manage to help some of them pass the course and getting As.
Helped younger pupils in my school and they manage to get B grades/ A grades in their exams

2. Provide similar type of questions as examples for explaining and practicing.
