Confidence is often the stumbling block for learners, and I always encourage all of my students to feel an early sense of achievement. Enabling students to see real progress quickly is essential to the building of self-esteem. I am very approachable and my style of teaching is relaxed and friendly. I love my job and hope that my own enthusiasm inspires my students to excel. Recently I have added French to my repertoire, for absolute beginners. I am sure French will be as popular and exciting as English and Maths have been.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher since 1976. I have taught all age groups, from nursery to A Level. Teaching is a wonderful and totally satisfying vocation. I moved across to tutoring as I felt I could offer all of my experience in this role. Being a teacher is definitely something I was born to do, and I love it.

Tutoring Approach:

Students can learn by either visiting my home or at a distance using Skype. Every student is assessed as an individual and the content of their course tailored to their needs. I test my students periodically to ensure progress is going smoothly; also testing is a good way for students to observe their own progress. We use a variety of materials: books for writing and reading in English, and for revision in Maths; the computer for visual skills and games, listening and speaking is a major part of the programme for EFL students. Children learn in different ways, and I like to offer my students visual, auditory and kinetic tools, we can see which is most comfortable for the individual. The speed of learning is not as important as the confidence of the individual and their inspiration and motivation to progress.

I am a Foundation Year 2 doctor currently working in Brighton and Sussex University NHS Trust. I graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2015 with Distinctions in pre-clinical science, clinical science, medical science and clinical practice. I achieved a first-class honour in my BSc in Neuroscience and Mental Health. I obtained A* in GCSE Science and Maths as well as A (A* not introduced at the time) in A level Maths, Biology and Chemistry.

Teaching Experience:

Pre-A level maths and science
I have always had a passion for teaching. During the course of my medical school, I have taught maths and science at various levels including GCSE and Year 11-14 with great success. I gained a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction from watching my students gaining confidence and interest in maths and science, as well as improvement in grade.

Medical student turoing
I have been involved in a variety of medical student teaching including OSCE/PACES teaching, mock examination examiners and EMQ teaching. I have also had experience in tutoring medical school applications/ personal statements and have been on the medical school interview panels at Imperial College School of Medicine.
I have gained qualification in the Toronto university online teaching course.

Tutoring Approach:

Pre-A level maths and science
I believe that every student has a different way of learning and as a teacher, it is my job to explore the learning style specific to the student and it is my job to inspire interest and confidence in the student. Often, I get feedback from students that the best thing about my teaching is the fact that I made them feel more confident to tackle the problems themselves and to trust their own judgement. I believe that this is very important, especially in maths and science because this is where creativity and problem-solving skills begin. I also believe in creating a solid foundation. I encourage students to always work from first principle, not just memorise formulas and really think about the basics and start working it out from there in a logical way. I feel that this is especially important in tackling more complex problems, which is what a lot of students struggle with.

Medical student tutoring
OSCE/PACES teaching: I like to focus on the basics and I emphasise the importance of getting the technique right. I use case-based discussions to stimulate students to think of about the history, examination, investigation and management. I teach students how to formulate differential diagnoses and come up with a management plan.

EMQ teaching: I focus on the technique of asnwering questions. Every question has a key word which steer you in the right direction, and my focus is for students to learn to identify these key words and select the best posisble option.

Medical school application: I get to know my student, understand their strength and weaknesses as well as their motivation and experience and tweak it to formulate the best possible portfolio to present to the medical school.

I have been teaching seconday school students since qualifying in 1998. I have had two full-time posts, worked as a supply teacher as well as having private students. I have worked in Inner London, Outer London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire schools. I have also worked in France at a small private school during the '80's, predominantly teaching adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach French using the native tongue as much as possible. I use my own resources although I use the Internet for ideas whenever it's suitable.
For Maths I follow the syllabus laid down by whichever examining board the student is using and resources come from a wide variety of places usually from where I have recently been teaching. I gather information from colleagues who sometimes have great ideas. I like to be able to go through past papers with students marking work as we go through a course.

I studied Economics, Mathematics and Modern History for A-Level, and English Literature at AS-Level, achieving A-grades in all of them.

I worked for nearly two years at the FSA, working on financial regulation and Economic Risk and then worked as an Economic Advisor to an MP where I focussed on Economics. I stood for Parliament last year.

I have over 200 hours of experience in preparing students for University- helping students with their personal statements and interview technique. Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing when tutoring a student is to be patient and kind as no student benefits from an environment in which they are made to feel stupid or slow. In fact, the problem is often the way students are taught and so I try to make lessons as interactive as possible to ensure that the student really understands what I teach them.

I believe that it is important to tailor the Tuition classes to the needs of the individual student, in order to help students realise their full potential. Students learn in different ways and so it is important to recognise that the method that works for one student, might not work for another.

I like to sit-down with students to establish what they are hoping to achieve, and where their strengths and weaknesses lie in the subject. That way I can ensure that the lessons are as helpful as possible for the student as I try to help the student achieve their goals.

For Long-Term students, I have found that it works best to track the lesson plans according to what has been taught in school during the week. This allows me to help students to to ensure that any misunderstandings are dealt with quickly so that they can build on this knowledge in the next week's lessons at school.

For students close to Exams, I focus more on the concepts that are fundamental to the subject to boost the chance of gaining high marks in the exam. I also focus on teaching exam technique.

Nursery school teacher at Romanos English Nursery School in Nicosia, Cyprus. Amongst others, my responsibilities included:

Educational support for children in Preschool and Primary Education
Preparation and organization of weekly programming based on the different needs and abilities of the children of the preschool class. This programme was then sent to the parents to keep them informed on the weekly activities.
Application of multiple specific activities based on the nursery's timetable in the context of the programme issued by the Ministry of Education (e.g. silent activities as well as multiple subject activities such as language education, mathematics and natural sciences). Through these activities the learning and development of children is documented in different ways such as evaluation forms, contact book and progress meetings with the parents.
When needed, extra activities were carried out in smaller groups of children (micro-level).
Leading role in enhancing children's Greek language knowledge. Amongst others, created additional learning material to aid towards the Greek alphabet learning
Leading role in the creation of the School's Yearbook which included photos from all activities, school trips and experiences the children had.
Finally, over the last three years actively contributed to the structure and organization of the School's graduation ceremony by helping in poems writing and dance teaching.

Personal Description:
I am currently enrolled in SOAS, University of London as a Masters student studying the Political Economy of Development. My primary research includes investigating the impacts of public policy on economic development. My academic training has led to strong interests in subjects including History, Politics, Economics, and English. I received my undergraduate degree in Politics and History from Brunel University and achieved a 2:1 overall.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for over 3 years. For over a year and a half, I began my teaching career by leading group tutoring sessions at a local university in preparation for the English GCSE. This was enlightening for me as a teacher, particularly when hearing and critiquing student's opinions or arguments on works of literature. In line with these teaching experiences, I have gained a certificate for community teaching (CLEI). As of this year, whilst attending University for my masters, I have been tutoring students part-time in subjects that include English, Politics and History.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe having a personable demeanor and having fun interactive and engaging lessons are the best approach to learning. I am also a strong proponent of encouraging my students to always reach their highest potential and to give their best effort to the course material. I also believe in learning as a collaborative process between the tutor and student, highlighted by discovery and insight.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am a 23 year old French and German graduate who is very passionate about languages and also studied English Language up to A Level. I've obtained an Upper Second Class Honours (2:1) from the University of Hull and am currently living and working in Bedfordshire. I am happy to travel to my students for tuition so my students can learn in the comfort of their own home, or if preferred they are more than welcome to come to my family home in Sharnbrook for tuition. I have spent time living in both France and Germany last year and would be happy to help out with any language struggles, as I understand first hand how daunting learning and speaking a language can be and I aim to help my students feel as comfortable as possible while providing excellent tuition.

Teaching Experience:

I have work experience as an assistant to the teacher at John Gibbard Lower School in Sharnbrook, along with studying the spoken language of children in pre-school and nursery as part of my A Level English Language course.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to get my students talking while making them feel at ease and as comfortable as possible. Languages can be very daunting as I know from personal experience, and I want to instill some confidence in my students along with aiding in grammatical errors and helping to build vocabulary for my students. I have a large range of resources, such as textbooks with grammar exercises up to A Level qualification and beyond, and will be very happy to help out in any areas where students are struggling.

I feel that I have a good approach with school students due to my age; I have only finished University this year, and I helped my younger sister and siblings of friends throughout my school life with their language struggles. I am a friendly and approachable person who wants to make lessons fun and educational rather than a chore, and I feel like this will massively help students retain information easier and motivate them further in their studies.

I am not perfect and am not aiming for perfection in my students; I am patient, enthusiastic and engaging and am willing to adapt my teaching skills from student to student. I am very aware of how to adapt from student to student; some students prefer working from a textbook with worksheets, and some prefer a more vocal and practical approach to language learning. Languages are not easy, and going from someone who struggled with confidence in my language skills throughout GCSE's to someone who delivered countless presentations throughout University in foreign languages and obtained an Upper Second Class degree, I feel as though I understand and can approach any issue with language learning that a student may have.
