Personal Description:
As a child I took apart computers and wrote computer programs for the fun of it. I enjoy researching technology and keeping up to date on the latest advancements.

As part of my current work I develop websites, provide training in PHP programming, and much more.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as an instructor or tutor at the following companies or institutions:
Staffordshire University
Matthew Boulton College
Computeach Ltd

What some have said about me:

"Thanks again for the week - I found the revision and exercises were very good. I think you did a great job of helping us to pass the exam." - Charl
"I found your tutorage inspiring and returned with a wealth of knowledge and renewed impetus." - Jon
"I wanted to thank you very much for an excellent course over the last four days, which was extremely professionally conducted, always interesting, and communicated with enthusiasm and good humour". - Robert
"Just a quick email to say that I've recently got a job as a junior Oracle DBA, just thought I'd say thanks as I wouldn't have got it without your help!" - Mike, Junior Oracle DBA
"Thanks for the course - although it was tiring it was also enjoyable (I like your sense of humour). I thought the course was good with the alternating of the three different types of activity." - Debbie

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy is that anyone can learn if they have a willing spirit and a patient teacher.

To develop an appropriate training program I first determine the needs of the student and work out short and long term goals. I use a variety of training methods, including demonstration, practice, memorization, and assessment.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please don't ask me to complete your assignment for you as this is cheating.

Personal Description:
Hello, I live in Sunderland. I have a B A (Hons) degree and a Certificate in Education specialising in Maths and English and I have also attended relevant courses (for example in Dyslexia Awareness) and have a Counselling certificate.

Teaching Experience:

I have had approximately 20 years experience of teaching English, Maths and I C T and this has included helping pupils to prepare for the SATs tests. I have worked with children and adults on a one to one basis and in groups and fully understand the needs of both.

I have had extensive experience teaching in schools and am therefore familiar with the requirements of the national curriculum key stages 1,2 3 and 4.

I also have a vast array of resources and past exam papers and can also create resources that are tailor made for a specific pupil.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy working creatively and will tailor learning to the particular interests of the pupil if necessary as I feel that this makes the work more interesting and meaningful for them. I have established excellent relationships with pupils in the past and have a sensitive, caring and thoughtful approach.

In the first session I carry out an assessment in order to get an idea of the needs of the pupil and use this as a trial session. Pupils don't have to continue unless they are happy with everything.

Personal Description:
In July 2013, I graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, undertaking a BMus (Hons) Music degree (2.1) with a principle study in singing (1st). I took two gap years before going to university to gain experience in the music and drama fields. I have studied modules at university ranging from Bach to Beethoven and Sibelius to Weill.

Teaching Experience:

In my two gap years I was a gap student at Bedales Schools for a term and then was invited back to cover a member of music staff. Responsibilities included teaching 8-13 year old mixed pupils classroom music as well as supervising music practices. I also tutored pupils through grade 5 theory achieving merit and distinction grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very laid-back attitude to teaching and will teach you in similar ways that I have been taught. I understand totally that some pupils need several ways of explaining things so bring a variety of teaching methods to my lessons. I make teaching interesting and engaging and always try to relate the subject to the pupil. I have been very fortunate to learn under some inspirational teachers and would love to be able to carry on their enthusiasm to other students.

Personal Description:
I am a student at the University of Bath and am currently in my third year of a four year course, studying BA French, Italian and European Studies (History, Politics, Culture and Literature of Europe). In compliance with my degree, this year must be spent abroad and so I have just finished my summer employment at a private language summer school in Belgium, working as an English teacher.

I teach French on Twitter, where I have over 16,000 followers and regularly respond to questions and update my page daily with useful phrases, every day speech and more complex language issues.

My passion for learning and teaching languages stems from when I moved to France at the age of 13 with my parents, not one of us spoke a word of the language - other than the vague memories of the beginnings of GCSE, with the only words springing to mind being 'ruler' and 'pencil'. It's really just not ideal when you're actually in the centre of a new culture, and not in a classroom.

I didn't have friends for the first few months there because of the language barrier (it didn't help either that I was home-schooled so it was incredibly hard for me to even meet people!). So I just had to learn the language. In teaching myself it, I know what works, I know the easiest ways to memorise words and phrases, I know what to do and what will be easiest for you.

After three years of living in France, my parents decided to move back to the UK where I continued my language studies at a scholastic level; completing my AS Level and my A2 Level in French, gaining an A in both.

My passion for Italian stems from my father's family being Sicilian. We moved there, also when I was 13, however, sadly we only spent a very brief time there - it was a spontaneous country-hop so we really just were not prepared for the culture shock. Again, none of us spoke the language, so I began teaching myself and then continued again when I came back to the UK to study.

English is my native language and I have taken my A Levels in English Language.

Teaching Experience:

While teaching, my classes would change weekly, so during my stay there I gained the experience of teaching 9-17 year olds, with English levels ranging from absolute beginner, A1 to almost native, C1.

I gained many skills, including, but not exclusive to, classroom management, lesson planning, evaluating language levels at the beginning and end of the stay of the children, meeting parents and giving feedback and of course, teaching full days; my teaching day would even include private one-to-one lessons. I would often deal with situations that required being able to think innovatively, without guidance and under pressure so I have gained a considerable amount of confidence and self-discipline due to my work there and I have improved my time keeping and organisational skills.

I have also been privately tutoring children, from 11 to 14 years old, for over two years now, via Skype. So even if the distance seems too far - teaching via Skype is an option.

I tutored one of my students through her French GCSE and she gained an A*. I was always available to prepare her - even the day before her exams. She only ever felt confident to go into any of the modules (be it speaking or writing).

I really care for the children that I tutor and am proud to say I have been there to help them with all aspects of their schooling, from homework help, to exam preparations, extra work and even life lessons - I'm very personable, patient and overall positive and happy so am always willing to give advice and have really become a friend to my tutees. We've also worked on all subjects, everything from science, to history, to music, to teaching the time and additional mathematics help.

Please see below for feedback from previous families that have found me on this site:

------------------------------------

Bianca taught my daughter French all of last year. Her teaching methods were relaxed and fun, and our daughter's French improved dramatically in a short space of time. Equally importantly, we were totally comfortable with having Bianca in our house; I often went out, leaving her alone with our daughter, without a second thought.
Bianca is polite, respectful and trustworthy. Her teaching is fun and motivational, and our daughter is very fond of her.
I have no hesitation in recommending Bianca as a teacher and au pair.

-------------------------------------

Bianca has tutored my 3 children for over 3 years and her work with them has been invaluable. We lived in France for 7 years and when the children returned to the UK they found some subjects difficult, especially as one of them began high school.

Bianca has an incredible way of teaching that totally captures the child's attention and she engages and connects with them in a way that makes learning easy, practical and fun.

Bianca helped my children improve their grades and they passed all their subjects under her watch and in fact Bianca could help them in any subject they asked for help in.

My middle son was terrible at focusing and organising himself and Bianca was able to help with fun tactics to help home organise and to study. The projects he did with her were fantastic.

Bianca also coached my eldest to an A* in French GSCE a year early and she encouraged her to aim high.

Bianca is also a wonderful role model and my eldest aspires to be like her, she says she would like to go to Bath University to study languages like Bianca.

Bianca brings out the best in the children and overall she is one of the most sincere, loveliest helpful people I know. She is intelligent and entertaining and I wish her well! We miss her enormously!

If you would like further reference information, please ask.

Tutoring Approach:

I do it the right way, the way I would have wanted to have been taught. No unnecessary memorising. No difficult approaches. No complex babbling.

I won't just be setting you work, I will be working with you. All you need to do is let me know what exactly you want to learn. Even if your answer is 'Everything!', then we'll get down to it.

This is simple. So, let's do it!

I am a university student studying computer science under full 100% tuition fee scholarship for the whole duration of 4 years including my masters.

I have been awarded with this scholarship for my academic merits and extracurriculars.

Teaching Experience:

I have 2 years of teaching experience in the UK, teaching 5 students to date. I have already taught AQA Physics, OCR Biology and am currently teaching two students doing AQA Physics, Maths and OCR Biology.

Recent success: One of my tutees came to me with 3 U's in Physics, Maths & Bio.
Result this Jan 12: Maths-B,
Biology- B
Physics-B

Tutoring Approach:

One thing that I truly believe is about delivering the candidate with coherent information. I don't want to fetch my student way too much extra irrelevant stuffs; well until and unless he/she asks for it. I want to make the most out of limited resources. My focus is to basically make life easier by finding out the solutions and presenting them in any comprehensive way that they find it good for themselves. If it is visual animation they want, I give it to them!

Personal Description:
Currently in my 2nd year at the University of Warwick , reading Classical Civilization. The course includes Ancient Greek and Latin Modules so am very confident in languages.
Interested in teaching post degree due to my enthusiasm for working with young people

Teaching Experience:

Recently came back from a volunteering programme in India which involved teaching various subjects and skills at a disabled school.
Latin tutor for 3 years to younger students during senior school.
Currently a Classics mentor to 1st year student at Warwick University

Tutoring Approach:

There in no fixed approach to teaching, especially with languages . In my lessons I tailor to the individual, as I have found that every person will learn and respond in a different manner. Latin is constantly being described as a boring "dead subject" and so I would aim to make the classes as enjoyable as possible, thinking of initiative and create ways to teach.
In the first class my priority would be to discover and understand the areas which the tuttee struggles in to ensure I will be effectively helping them.

Personal Description:
Hello,

My name is Loretta and I am a Qualified Secondary Mathematics Teacher with QTS, I have had 3 years experience of teaching in a Secondary school in St. Albans. I received my PGCE in 2012 from London South Bank University shortly after achieving a 2:1 in Psychology & Statistics from the University of Manchester.
I am a very approachable and dedicated teacher who has had many experiences dealing with students of all ages and abilities with different learning styles. I thoroughly enjoy working with students on a one-to one basis where we can really focus on the students needs and areas of weakness whilst carefully using assessments and homework to ensure that the student is making progress. Parents will continuously be given feedback to ensure that they are also kept in the loop about their child's progress.

Teaching Experience:

As mentioned above I have had three years teaching experience in a school where I have taught many students of different abilities. I have a large bank of resources to use with students varying from; preparation for the 11+ Mathematics exams, KS3, KS4 and up to A-Level.
I am extremely passionate about tutoring, as a young 25 year old teacher it was not that long ago since I attended school and therefore I understand the worries and stresses of students and for that I can really work with them to build up their confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

I always carry out an assessment during the first hour that I meet the student in order to fully understand their strengths and weaknesses, from there I will then draw up a plan for the following tuition sessions. This will be discussed with both the tutee and their parents to ensure that they are happy. I would also appreciate if the student can identify areas that they may be struggling with as well.

Every session students will be given homework which will be used to assess the previously learned topics and this will be handed back to the student with feedback during the following session, parents once again will be sent this feedback via email. If your student is undertaking GCSE or AS/A2 exams then their homework will be largely based around exam paper practice which I will mark and once again and provide feedback for.

Overall, I want to ensure that the students enjoy their tutoring sessions and get the most out of them that they possibly can.

FAQs

Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in the humanities, the social sciences, and relevant creative industries up to (and inclusive of) degree level; I'm equipped to teach an array of closely-related topics, at various levels, by virtue of my diverse (academic and professional) background(s).

Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a (comb. hons.) bachelor's degree-English with Creative Writing, a master's degree-Professional Writing, and currently find myself undertaking a PhD by research.

How much do you charge?
My rate is 20 per hour, irrespective of subject, or level (there is no charge for the first/introductory session).

NB: my service is of no lesser quality than that of tutors whom request in excess of 60 per hour; I simply fail to see a correlation between entitlements to opportunity and financial means.

Where do you teach?
Primarily, I teach from home; however, I also offer online tuition (for those who would otherwise have to travel long distances, or are unable to travel).

When are you available?
I tutor full-time, alongside part-time postgraduate study. My hours are: 09:00-19:00, Mon-Sun.

I currently only have one space between Dec '16-Jan '17, but this may increase to two between Jan-Jun '17.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
KS1 to Level 6 (primary-degree).

Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I'm an enhanced DBS certificate holder, and member of the DBS Update Service.

Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I'm a full member of The Tutors' Association.

Tell me about some of your current students.
Many of my current AS/A2 students are preparing for the January 2017 mock examinations-Psychology, English Literature, Sociology, Philosophy, or a combination thereof.

Teaching Experience:

What kind of experience do you have?
Aside from my experience as an academic tutor (which exceeds four years), I've also served NHS psychiatric services, as a negotiations/conflict resolution tutor: this role involved the design and implementation of dialectical interventions-chiefly, those concerned with emotionally complex situations (e.g. violence and aggression, high-stakes contexts, etc.).

Tutoring Approach:

Describe your tutoring approach.
I'm an experienced tutor, with a conversational approach; one that blends constructivist, cognitivist, and experiential learning theories-i.e., framing new concepts within a student's existing knowledge base, exploring (and adapting to) each student's unique learning style(s), turning theoretical concepts to practical problems, and encouraging self-directed learning (where appropriate).

Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can facilitate online tuition via Skype, or a similar application. I involve a range of digital technologies (e.g. to annotate scanned written work, design original resources, etc.), with ongoing email correspondence and access to shared cloud storage serving complimentary functions.
