I am a fully qualified teacher of Languages and English as a foreign language, with 13 years' experience of teaching all levels.

My work as an assistant examiner for a major exam board, has given me an excellent insight into what is required by the exam in order to gain a good pass.
I love languages, teaching, music and travel.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught and supported students at all levels and for different purpose: GCSE, A Level, Holiday French and German, Primary French and German.

I have been an assistant examiner for a major exam board for A level French speaking, listening, reading and writing for the past 8 years, so can help to support students for exams and help them to become very familiar with the techniques and knowledge required to gain a good pass.

I have a 100% success rate with students. Last year, all 3 GCSE students gained A* and A (French and German) and my 3 A Level students gained A (French), and 2 C's (from a grade E/U in German).

Adult learners: I have a very successful and unique approach, which allows adults to understand how a language is constructed and which allows them to grasp the basics of a language and then 'play' with the language by adding new vocabulary and phrases. You will feel confident wiih the pronunciation of the language from the beginning, which is essential to make progress quickly and effectively.

I am a very patient and dedicated French native speaker. I tailor my lessons to the students' needs and expectations. Tutoring is not just guiding students through their learning but also giving them confidence and enabling them to experience lessons in a relaxed, friendly and yet serious way.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher for over 9 years and have a very diverse experience as I have been working in an Alliance francaise in Mexico, in a language centre, two adult education centres and two tutoring agencies. My first teaching experience was a French Language Assistant in Preston, Lancashire. I have had students ranging from 7 years old to 70+, from absolute beginners to advanced levels. I've given private and group classes and intensive courses (up to 7h a day) in schools and companies. I have over 4500 teaching hours, including more than 3200 hours of private tuition (basically in French Literature, French and English as Foreign Languages; 2500 of which in the UK).

Coming from France where I taught French Literature to a student preparing a diploma in Accounting, I have now been in the UK for four and a half years. I am occasionally in charge of groups of beginner students in a language school and give private tuition (self-employed as well as with two tutoring agencies). At the moment, I give French private tuition for the preparation of GCSE and IGCSE, DALF C1, CNED CE1 and CM2 (French school curriculum, distance learning) and university essay writing. I also tutor other students looking to learn or improve their French communication skills for personal reasons.

Recently graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours in Economics and Management. I won a Scholarship to Eton College when I was ten years old and won another three years later. After getting straight A*'s at GSCE, I went on to study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Economics and Physics at AS level. Again, after attaining the highest grades at AS, I was advised to drop Chemistry and went on to complete my A levels (A*A*AA). Currently I am studying Economics and Management at Oxford University - final year.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped teach primary school children before at Eton Wick First School. Other experience I have includes a tutee I helped last year with AS level maths and writing AS maths notes for a firm so that they could make tutoring videos online.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to approach tutoring by adapting to the tutee's needs. I always ask what is needed to be covered for their understanding and so it would be up to any tutee to know what they struggle on. If they do not know, I like to test their knowledge of the syllabus and filling in any gaps. When I go through a topic, I do often go through it in detail so that the tutee can not only answer questions, but also understand what they are doing. (I find that the problem with Maths is that some students can get the answer, without understanding what they have done.)

I am a 23 year-old postgraduate student in Durham University, with a masters in mathematics.

Teaching Experience:

In 2010-2012 I was the initiator of a volunteer project called 'Fairy tales in Pictures'. The project involved working, communicating and interacting with children with learning difficulties, playing games with them and teaching them to tackle different tasks. This was an opportunity to develop my communication and listening skills regarding various kinds of people, becoming extremely aware of the difficulties children can have with learning and understanding new things, and how these difficulties can be tackled.
I have helped my 11-year-old sister with her maths and English language-related lessons over the years. This has helped me understand children better and sense when they are in need for more training and explanation in particular areas. I have also helped friends' children with their problems, offering help, guidance and advice.

Tutoring Approach:

The key method to learning mathematics is by solving problems and dealing with examples. My approach is to give a clear explanation on the theory and then focus on different types of examples to help children understand things through practice. After several examples, I encourage children to attempt problems themselves at first, then ask questions and give small hints, guiding the child to obtain the correct answer as independently as possible. I give homework for children to practice their newly acquired knowledge, and I check if they've done the homework correctly on the next lesson.

Having lived and worked in China for many years, i am aware of the difficulty of learning a foreign language. However,i believe that with the right attitude, approach and guidance it is possible to achieve your study goals in any language.

I am currently working for a research organisation where I co-ordinate and manage projects for specific clinical trials. I have completed my degree at Heriot Watt University in Biological Sciences. In my final year I specialised in molecular biology and microbiology.

I have in-depth knowledge of biological process and studied a wide range of biological topics including but not limited to: Parasite protozoa and human disease, molecular toxicology, food biotechnology, microbial pathogenesis, molecular biology, genomics and proteomics, protein sorting in eukaryotes, immunology, cell biology, plant biology, animal biology, and the rapid detection of bacteria.
I also undertook more broader courses, in my first year; Mathematics, Chemistry, Psychology, human biology and more.

For my final year at university I undertook a research project which looked at the effects of phytochemicals on pathogenic and non-pathogenic GIT bacteria. I have also worked on a research project with William Grants and sons where micro-algae were used to remove ammonia from a waste effluent to comply with SEPA regulation.

I attained a very high 2:1 honors degree in Biology.

Teaching Experience:

I am a keen sports player, and have played competitively for my county. As a more experienced team member I have given coaching and advice in regards to technique, position, tactics and fitness. I have also trained colleagues at work in using computer systems and imparting study related information.

As a fourth year student I was given the opportunity to attend laboratory practical sessions to assist the lecturer in teaching new students. I taught them how to work within a laboratory environment. This included sterile techniques, microscopy and staining, molecular separation, and DNA extraction techniques.

Tutoring Approach:

Initially, I would like to have a meeting with the student, either face to face, over the phone, or via online communication. I wouldn't charge for the initial contact as this will help me to produce a learning structure which is catered to improving areas which the student is struggling on, or wishes to improve upon. After an agreed time period, we would reflect on our learning, and will assess their progress. I will achieve this by creating short term and long term goals which both the student and tutor agree upon.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Laurence, and I am a local private English tutor.
I have a degree in English Literature (2:1).
I am a fully qualified teacher, and have my QTS certificate (Qualified Teacher Status) to prove it.
My experience of exam marking for GCSE's, leading English Departments and being classified by Ofsted as an 'Outstanding' teacher ensures that progress is accelerated, meaningful and genuine.

Teaching Experience:

I have been Head of Department, GCSE Manager, Monitoring and Assessment Manager, a GCSE Exam marker, an A Level exam marker and I am also consistently classified as 'Outstanding' according to Ofsted requirements.

My largest concern for my students is to make sure that their confidence is built up by becoming pro-active and independent learners. All too often teachers 'spoon-feed' their students, leading them to a false sense of security in their skills, which therefore leads to poor performance in examinations.

I have held the post of Head of English at a school in Staffordshire, and I have led a team of exceptional English teachers. Having held other management positions in other schools as well, with management focus on both key Stage 3 and 4, I have built up a wealth of experience and knowledge that I can now put to good use within the sphere of personal tuition.

I am also an experienced examiner, having marked for a leading exam body for five years now. This has helped me enormously to build up a very clear understanding of what exam boards require from students.

Last year's results saw a continuation of my fine record of exam success, where my class achieved 100% A-C in their GCSE examinations. Personal Description:
MA in English Language, PGCE, experienced examiner of GCSE English Language for AQA exam board (5 years) and five years teaching experience. I have been teaching for five years and have been awarded outstanding by Ofsted in school inspections. I have been teaching for five years now and I have worked in two very different educational contexts. I am passionate about my subject and I also like to use it as a vehicle for students to explore morals and ethics; I am most happy when I feel I am teaching students core skills, as well as broadening their knowledge of our rich history or important current affairs.

Teaching Experience:

I am a graduate of the Teach First programme. Teach First is a charity that tackles educational disadvantage by placing graduates in schools which are in challenging circumstances. As a result of this, I had to learn how to plan and deliver lessons that were fun and engaging, as well as educational. Many of the students in my classes were behind because the school hadn't been able secure permanent staff, so I also had to learn how to accelerate their progress quickly, if they were to have any hope of reaching their true potential. I signed up to examine English Language at GCSE for AQA and this was certainly helpful, as I was able to give my students a big insight into the skills that were required and the mistakes that were often made. I have been an examiner for the last five years, so my knowledge and experience here would certainly benefit someone about to start in year 11. I am passionate about making English as a subject relevant and I am lucky that English provides a lot of opportunities for that; I can teach the core skills using texts from contexts that students will relate too, which really helps to build confidence and maintain engagement. I am currently teaching in a prep school in Sevenoaks because I wanted to see a different side of the education system and this has enabled me to develop my teaching of grammar, especially the grammar that is require for exams, but as always, in an accessible and engaging way.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always aim choose engaging texts for my tutees to work with because I want the sessions to be engaging as well has educational, especially if this is an extra session on top of all the lessons in school.

I think it is important to break down core skills like 'analysis' and 'evaluation', so that students actually understand what is required of them. Often teachers ask their class to 'explain' and analyse and their students have no idea what this actually means or how to do it. I have tried and tested resources, which will support my tutee and help them to do this.

I think it is important to encourage independence in any tutee, but we can't just expect it to happen, just because we have asked. I feel that modelling good outcomes and the writing process, as well as asking students to critique their own work and the work of others is key in helping students to be more independent. This is something I have achieved in a classroom setting and so, I am confident that I can help a tutee to do the same.

Personal Description:
I am 21 years old, fresh out of the education system, having just graduated from the University of Chester. I am newly married and my husband is a primary school teacher in the Wirral. I currently work part-time at All Saints Church Hoole, as their children and families worker, as well as developing material for a christian discipleship movement called Inspire.
I have three brothers, I play the piano and flute, and I love to be creative, anything from cards, taking photo's to Santa's grotto.
I have dyslexia, which may have held me back at various times, but has given me the ability to see the way people and things work differently. For me there is never just one way of doing things whether it be solving problems or seeing new sides to an argument. I believe that we are all unique, and our individual way of thinking and processing is one of the most important things that we can learn.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout school I worked in various schools and nurseries. I was apart of the guided reading scheme helping to improve the ability and confidence of younger students to read and read aloud.
In university I would proof read peoples essays, spending hours working alongside them editing and correcting.
Through my work in various churches, I have taught various ages and abilities. I work with many different ages all together, helping with reading, writing and social skills. Although my experience is not in front of a class of thirty, but in front of a congregation of 50-200, I often work with children, young people and adults one to one.

Tutoring Approach:

Working backwards and starting with a clean slate.

Whatever the task maybe, my approach is to first work out the way the tutee works and processes things. Second, to take that information as starting ground and make a fresh approach.
