Personal Description:
I am 33 years old and have a 1st in French (BA Hons) from Nottingham University, with a distinction in spoken language. As well as a year spent working in Paris, I have worked in French speaking West Africa. I currently work part time for a charity and have a broad range of interests from gardening and cycling, to music and French culture (of course!).

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching French privately since April 2011. I primarily teach GCSE students, including students who struggle with French because of dyslexia. I have developed a variety of creative methods to make sure my teaching is as clear and as interesting as possible and have helped students improve their marks by up to 2 grades. I have taught to above A level standard and have a very high level of French.

At the start of 2017 I worked for two months as a supply teacher at the International School of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). As well as private tuition and teaching I have volunteered as a mentor for young offenders. During this time I tried to find ways to teach some of the young people basic skills without them even really realising it (i.e. teaching basic arithmetic through carpentry lessons).

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor teaching sessions to the needs and interests of my pupils. This influences both the content of the teaching, and teaching style. I use a range of teaching techniques and feel strongly that teaching should be fun as well as informative.

While I ensure that the material covered matches the GCSE/A Level syllabus, lessons can be tailored to other needs if the pupil is not studying for the purpose of exams.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Conor.
I am a graduate of the University of Portsmouth where I completed an upper second class BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry, after which I undertook a PGCE in Secondary Science at the University of Southampton. I have also worked in industry as an Analytical Chemist, and have co-authored published research papers. I am currently working full time as a professional Science and Maths tutor, teaching at both GCSE and A-Level.

Teaching Experience:

Since finishing my degree I have worked at local schools and a local sixth form college, where I have taught a wide range of children and young adults with a diverse mix of abilities in science and maths. Through my experience, I have learned how to motivate and to engage those who have struggled and those who wish to be challenged, and have had great success in helping a number of students pass their exams. I have been tutoring for the past four years, and have extensive experience with all the syllabuses at local colleges and schools.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor I feel it is vital to make the students feel as relaxed as possible. I have a supportive style which can be adapted to suit many needs.

Hi there,

Whether you just need just some extra help for exams or need that A in GCSE's or A-Level I'd love to help you.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching for 5 years in West London. 6 months in Midde East teaching. Experience teaching across KS3, KS4 and KS5.

Tutoring Approach:

From teaching experience I know what the main misconceptions are and use this to base my teaching on. So before we begin a topic I try to tease out any difficulties a student may have and go forward. For me building confidence in maths is one of the main building blocks to helping a student improve substantially.

Personal Description:
Hello, I'm Jonathan, and am currently in my second year of a MEng undergraduate degree in Material Science and Engineering at Imperial College London. I am an approachable and dependable 19 year old with an open mind. Having been assigned a number of positions within my university and school, such as being a prefect and mentor, I have the skills and flexibility to adapt to any situation.
I have also participated in a wider range of activities, both within the STEM subjects and beyond. I was team leader of my school's Engineering Education Scheme project, where we worked with a company to create an 'Ultra Low cost UAV'. I am also an Arkwright Scholar and have completed by Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award through my local Air Cadet squadron. Outside of studies, I play rugby for the university 2nd XV, swim and I also lifeguard the local pool.

I will be available from January 2015 onwards (except on specific dates (contact me for more details))

Teaching Experience:

For two years, I tutored a boy in KS2 Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning every weekend to teach him key ideas in these subjects. Within school, I am a mathematics and physics prefect and so help struggling students and I was also a mentor for a younger student (Year 7), which involved supervising his studying, to improve his work ethic and grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a tailored and refined approach, where the strengths of a student should be stretched and challenged beyond the core syllabus, but to also spend and dedicate more time on the harder areas where students struggle, so that they can get as much exposure to types of questions asked in the exam as possible. A proper understanding of concepts is needed before progress can be made and an alternative way of explaining ideas, from a younger mind, may help some of the ideas sink in more.
Moreover, students learn in different ways, whether it be through colors, diagrams or notes and a tailored experience should be delivered to each student to ensure that they get the teaching that suits and benefits them.

Personal Description:
Hello everybody. My name is Vincenzo. I am 40 years old and I live in Leeds, in the North of England. My interests include reading, cycling, swimming and of course languages and meeting new people!

I am passionate about languages and foreign cultures and I look forward to helping you enjoy your studies and achieve your goals.

Teaching Experience:

I am a native Italian with both Italian and English teaching experience, at different levels, in both Italy and the UK.

After a couple of years teaching English in Italian secondary schools, I moved to the UK and since then I have worked mainly as an Italian lecturer in various colleges in West Yorkshire.

I did all my studies in Italy and I also qualified there as language teacher as well as special educational needs teacher and, when in the UK, had all my qualifications converted from the General Teaching Council for England. In fact, I was awarded the QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in November 2004.

Tutoring Approach:

Since I have been in the UK, I have continued to keep up to date with new teaching innovations and methodologies in language teaching.

I am familiar with the use of IT and online teaching and I strongly believe in its effectiveness in languages.

I believe myself to have a professional and friendly attitude to teaching and convey this well to the students that I teach.

My dedication to language teaching is, and has always been, without doubt one of the driving forces of my career. I find the challenges of cultural exchanges stimulating and pleasurable.

My teaching approach is very much on encouraging you to use your language skills in life conversation. I believe that focusing on verbal communication skills quickly builds your confidence and your enjoyment of the new language.

Lessons can be structured to support a home study programme or I can develop an individual learning programme tailored on your own personal needs.

Personal Description:
I specialise in giving children the confidence they need to succeed. The fast pace of the National Curriculum leaves no time for the child who needs longer to assimilate information, especially if they learn better with more concrete hands-on practical experience. This is not the fault of the child, but of the system.
I also help children with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, deafness (BSL), depression, Downs Syndrome and other disabilities.

Teaching Experience:

I have 30 years experience teaching all ages of people from age 2 to adults, but mainly the primary years. I have taught in England, USA and Kuwait. In schools and alternative settings such as small family groups and individual tutoring sessions.
I am a qualified teacher of hearing impaired children with a knowledge of BSL.
I have taught English to adult learners in Kuwait and the USA. I have also taught children whose fist language is not English.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach using my student`s preferred learning style, which could be visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic (or more likely a combination of them). With parents permission I also use tools such as Brain Gym©, EFT tapping, therapeutic essential oils to help my students overcome their learning difficulties. These tools really get results in terms of confidence, concentration and overcoming blocks to learning.

I also watch carefully for full engagement and when that is waning will switch activities to continue the learning process in a different way. Learning does not take place without enjoyment.

I am patient, kind and cheerful and aim for each student to enjoy their sessions with me while gaining confidence and ability.

I also teach English as another language from aged 3 to adult.

"He delivered the content with passion and skill, I'm now at medical school thanks largely to him."
"Dave always taught chemistry in a memorable, relevant way, and it felt like we didn't just do everything for the exam. I had a great time with him as my teacher."
"He teaches in a way which makes us learn and remember. He makes us write down his hip-hop "chemical raps" in the back of our books,"
"I regularly still rap the second law of thermodynamics. Typically on a first date. Hasn't worked yet, but boy do I remember it. Thanks Dave for all your work!"
"You were an inspirational teacher, and your enthusiasm carried me all the way to my PhD! If you're half as good a tutor you'll do just fine. Good luck!"
"You were my inspiration as a PGCE student!! All the very best in your retirement!"
"He managed to get me a B grade at A level which I doubted was anywhere near possible....
He is highly knowledgeable, patient and most of all able to make science both fun and accessible. Making the concepts come alive made learning more fun but they also stuck around long enough in my grey matter for me to make the grade; far exceeding my expectations! I still remember the physical representation of entropy as he leapt from bench to floor! Immense! HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND I AM NOT EASILY IMPRESSED!!!"

Teaching Experience:

Ex-Head of Science and Head of Chemistry from a top Bedfordshire Upper School. A highly experienced school chemistry teacher with over 30 years of experience in schools in UK, Australia and in one-to one private tuition. I offer online or face to face lessons at home.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching and learning are complex processes whose success relies on a trusting relationship between student and teacher. Initially, I will question, listen, challenge and probe to discover a student depth of knowledge, ability to think scientifically and their aspirations. This will enable me to identify areas of weakness and work at developing confidence in expressing ideas orally and in writing. Finally, practising exam questions will help develop in-depth understanding and skills of problem solving and analysis.

Personal Description:
I received a First Class Honours B. Sc. degree in Computer Science from Cardiff University, UK, in 2016 and I am currently working towards the Ph.D. degree in the field of Cyber Security at the same University. My research revolves around the security and privacy of Internet of Things devices (IoT). I have experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, and Matlab, as well as with a variety of other technologies. As a current PhD student I also have experience in various research and study methodologies. Finally I am fluent in Greek (Mother Language as I am Greek), English, and Italian.

Teaching Experience:

For the past year, apart from being a private tutor teaching mainly GCSE Computing/ICT and Greek Language, I have also been a Teaching Assistant at Cardiff University. There I have been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students programming; Python and Java as well as Web Applications Technologies. Additionally, I have been supervising group projects for year 2.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide a solid grounding in the subject while paying close attention to the needs of the student. Therefore, I will vary my tutoring style depending on the ability and needs of them. I aim to run my tuition in support of the progression of my students through their subject syllabus, but I am also willing to progress more slowly and focus on particularly weak areas if the student so desires. I will also offer pre-exam revision sessions for all exams including modular resits and conduct end of topic tests and mock exams should the student desire.

As I aim to tailor my tuition to the individual I expect students to maintain regular contact in regards to their subject progressions and their individual needs.

Personal Description:
My Name is Rachel and I have finished my final year at the University of Glasgow, where I studied a Bachelor of Music with Honours. I am a very positive, hardworking person. I am a singer and also have many years of experience working with the Kodaly method of music education. I have achieved ABRSM Grade 5 Theory, The National Youth Choir of Scotland's Go For Gold Certificate (which is accredited to Grade 5 Theory) and have also achieved Grade 8 in Voice and Grade 7 in Oboe through the ABRSM. I am a first study singer, and have several years teaching and assisting in teaching theory.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked with the National Youth Choir of Scotland for 2 years and have been doing music workshops in schools with Primary 3 and 4. I also teach in one of NYCoS's Area Choirs teaching young people from the age of 8-18. Before I became an employee of NYCoS I had volunteered with them as an assistent music instructor. I have the Go For Bronze/Silver/Gold teaching qualifications, with Go For Gold now being accredited to ABRSM Grade 5 Theory.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very patient teacher and try my best to find a way which makes learning fun and easy for each individual.
I was taught using a course designed by NYCoS that is based on the work of the Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodaly. He believed that music education should be fun and inclusive and this is something I strive to bring to my lessons.
