Personal Description:
I am a 19 year old currently on a gap year with a place to study Finance, Accounting and Management at The University of Nottingham in October 2010. I am very passionate about Maths and Economics and have won many awards as a result, ranging from Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates in the national Maths Challenge to representing my school at the Bank of England's 'Target 2.0' competition. I have studied Maths, Economics and Philosophy at 'A' Level, gaining A grades in all 3 subjects. In these examinations I also achieved an average of 90% in Economics (as well as full marks in 2 modules) and 90% in Maths. At GCSE I also achieved an average of 95% in my Maths examinations.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching at a tuition centre so am up to date with the syllabus and feel confident with my teaching methods. I have gained a lot of experience here, in particular learning different methods by which children learn and tailoring your teaching style to suit each child.
I have also been responsible for a class at school for a few hours every day. Here I had to help the children with primary work. I have tutored many children in preperation for 7+ as well as the 11+ entrance exams at a range of schools.

Tutoring Approach:

Dedicated, Focused, Enthusiastic

I feel the most important thing to recognise when teaching a child is that they are unique and the teaching style must reflect this. It is vital that the methods being used suit the child and they enjoy learning in this way.

I also believe that regular testing and monitoring progress are fundamental to achieve high grades in examinations and in my view it is the exam practise which is the key to success on the big day. I would encourage the student to get as much practise as possible under exam conditions so they are as prepared as possible.

Having done my 'A' Levels just last year and my GCSEs just 3 years ago I feel I would be ideal not just in helping a child with the all important exam technique but also showing them what the examiners are looking for and how to achieve high marks.

Personal Description:
I am 21 years old and a third year Physics student at Imperial College London. My mother tongue is French, although as I have been to school in English since I was 7, I am fully fluent in both. I went through the European Baccalaureate system in school, and had classes at A-level equivalent in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and French amongst others. I have always had a natural proficiency for Maths, but am generally more interested in Physics.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored younger students in Maths, Chemistry and English (as a foreign language) up to A-level standard most summers since I was 16. I was also asked by my teachers on multiple occasions to help other students in the class. Several other students also spontaneously approached me for help with work on multiple occasions. This has made me perfectly comfortable and confident at explaining concepts in multiple subject areas.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to long term success is a deep understanding of the concepts. If a student has an exam coming up very soon, I am willing to teach railroaded methods for questions, but I consider this a temporary solution. With a proper understanding of the subject matter, learning, remembering and even creating your own effective methods becomes a much easier task. As such, I like teaching from fundamentals rather than superficially; as well as showing examples and additional information that are not necessarily part of the official curriculum in order to give a more thorough understanding of the subject matter. I also like encouraging students to find solutions to more complex problems by their own means, rather than forcing a single method on them.

Personal Description:
Am in final year at school. Received 11 A* - A GCSEs including Maths, Biology and Geography, which I have taken on to complete as A levels. Have been in the English schooling system all my life and am about to finish my a levels at Tiffin School in Kingston Upon Thames.

Teaching Experience:

I have mentored 11-14 year olds in school for maths. And am in last year at school (U6) so no the ways of the teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

I use the constant revision approach. The idea of going over a concept enough times until remembered, but making sure that the learning is not boring.

I also provide notes in each subject (my own as well as external sources), using the specification as a contents. I use power points to explain many of the ideas, which the tutee can take and use for their own revision notes.

I also provide past papers to accompany all lessons providing practice on how to get the marks, using the mark schemes.

Personal Description:
Hi

I am a 26 year old Chartered Accountant. I have a first class maths degree from Reading university. I grew up in Chingford and went to Chingford High School.

Teaching Experience:

I currently have no direct teaching of mathematics. I have helped various colleges study for there professional qualifications and have taken great satisfaction in helping them pass.

I believe that i have the necessary skills and techniques to enable students to have a better understanding and hence better chance in passing there exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that passing the exams are the most important outcome of GCSE's. For this reason i believe the most efficient way to learn is through examples that progress in difficulty. I found during my own studies that there was often very few similar examples, this could be confusing and slowed my understanding of the subject.

Personal Description:
I am a working Research Assistant in Health, Social Care and Psychology, tutoring in my spare time. I am friendly and professional, and can provide relaxed, good quality tutoring to a range of ages.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching English as a foreign language for the largest language education company in the world, and have always unofficially tutored friends throughout my education. I have now tutored several students through UK Tutors.

Tutoring Approach:

I can tutor students either individually or in groups, and my focus is on encouraging students to think for themselves and generate their own learning progress through prompts and feedback following tuition. I have completed secondary and further education myself very recently and therefore understand both the structure and nature of the work required, and the problems faced by students who need some extra help. I believe that everyone is capable of achieving their academic goals, and those who find themselves struggling more often than not simply need things explaining differently, or their questions answered more comprehensively.

I am also more than happy to put together one-off sessions in an informal lecture format to give an overview of my subject areas as well as basic IT skills, SPSS, research skills etc. Session fees are negotiable depending on your requirements, but start at 30/hour.

Personal Description:
I am friendly, positive and always aim to achieve the best, and so expect the same from students.
Hard work = success
I am very enthusiastic about learning and can make it fun. I have a range of study methods, that can be adapted to suite many people of different backgrounds. I currently live back at home with mum and dad in penwortham.
I am a lively and bubbly person that can get along with people of all ages.

Teaching Experience:

I recently completed the SAS (student associate scheme) of which I have a certificate for. This program allowed me to be trained to work at a school. I was placed in a high school in manchester for about a month, where I was able to teach students with a range of abilities. This experience helped me develop different teaching styles.

Tutoring Approach:

Myself I have experienced having a tutor in subjects I struggled with. Tutoring gives students the chance to have one on one interaction and 100 % attention, which students don't always get in a class environment. It enables them to ask questions freely, and go over work again and again until they are fully happy they have a good understanding. Extra tuition can give students greater self confidence when back in the class room.

Personal Description:
I am a patient teacher. I am warm and open. I encourage pupils by setting reasonable targets. I speak French fluently and I have a degree in Management Sciences with Computing. I speak and have studied French to Masters level. I have a Masters in Marketing and a PGCE. I have tutored children and adults before. I am based in Colchester.

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced primary school teacher. I am fully qualified and have an up to date CRB check. I have experience of teaching in state, private, prep and SEN (Special Educational Needs) Schools. I am experienced in working with children with special/additional needs. I am able to support children on a 1-2-1 basis to ensure that they receive the additional input that they need in order to achieve. I have just completed a postgraduate in dyslexia and literacy with Dyslexia Action and the University of York.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in looking at and trying to educate the whole child. In doing this I think that one can inspire the class and improve their confidence and their desire to learn and develop. I looked carefully at the children's previous work to evaluate their current level before planning a new lesson. For each lesson I teach, I plan the lesson in detail, listing resources, support staff and their roles, ICT resources used, differentiation for different abilities, the structure and timing of the lesson, the objectives and learning outcomes expected as well as the tasks that we are going to carry out, and the teaching methods that would be most effective for the subject and the class.

I used a variety of working styles such as kinaesthetic, auditory and visual methods to increase the reach and differentiation of the teaching for all students. I use these methods to anticipate and resolve any problems and identify opportunities for extending the pupils learning. I often use the interactive whiteboard to display and interact with resources such as web pages, educational games, and visual or auditory presentations. This is a fantastic way of stimulating and allowing children to lead their learning.

I understand the importance of inclusive provision and practice. I am very interested in working with children with learning difficulties. I assess children's work with a view to assessing ways in which we could improve their understanding and presentation of work. I also tried to differentiate effectively for all the pupils through my use of questioning. I used extending questions or questions which would be aimed at different ability groups to maximise my pupil's understanding of my objectives.
