Personal Description:
*NOW BOOKING FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-17*

Thank you for looking at my profile.

I am a full time, professional tutor, specialising in English, maths and general study skills. I achieve excellent results and students look forward to my sessions. As detailed below, I have a wealth of experience and success working with students with Special Educational Needs, and other difficulties which have prevented them from accessing the curriculum fully.

I have a very calm, patient and friendly approach to tuition. I will explain and revisit as many times as needed and use a variety of methods to make tricky topics memorable. I use a range of resources and approaches, tailored to student preferences and different learning styles.

I am qualified teacher with a BEd teaching degree and a Masters degree in education, plus other courses attended to further my professional development.

MEd: I have a Masters Degree in Education, completed in 2013.
The modules I studied are as follows:
`Educational enquiry` (research in education) (2013)
`Investigating language in action`(supporting learners of English) (2012)
`Difficulties in literacy development` (specifically dyslexia) (2008)

British Dyslexia Association and Unicorn Maths- `Dyscalculia Plus` (2012)

BEd Primary with Qualified Teacher Status (subject specialism English) (2003)

BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies (Learning and development 0-8 years) (1999)

9 GCSE`s all A-C:
Child Development, English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, French, History, Religious Education, Science. (1997)

Teaching Experience:

My specialist subjects are English, maths and Special Educational Needs.

I have held a number of roles:

*private tutor
*university Specialist Tutor for dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and autism
*primary school class teacher for nursery to Y2 (inner city school; many children had behavioural/emotional issues and did not have English as their first language)
*cover teacher for nursery to Y6
*subject co-ordinator for Personal, Social and Health Education
*subject co-ordinator for music

As well as teaching, I have worked in a variety of settings as a nursery nurse and nanny. I have been able to build excellent relationships with parents and children and am still in touch with families that I have worked with over the years.

References: available on request

Tutoring Approach:

I support students with many different needs and situations. These include:

*dyslexia
*dyspraxia
*dyscalculia (difficulty with maths)
*self esteem or confidence issues
*children who struggle at school due to emotional or behavioural issues
*children who have missed school for various reasons
*children who are home educated
*adults who want to `catch up` or improve their English and maths
*college and university students who need support with essay writing, proofreading and exam revision techniques

Over the past 4 years in my role as a tutor, my students have made excellent progress in terms of confidence, catching up with age-related expectations and achieving the desired level or above in 11+ or Year Six SATs. I have a loyal student base and much of my work now comes from existing student recommendations.

Recent successes:

Children who have not responded to tuition in the past have really engaged with the subject and made good progress.

Children who were struggling with Year 6 SATs have achieved at least one level higher than predicted.

Those tutored for 11+ exams have passed and gained entry to their chosen school (Two to Wolverhampton Grammar, one to King Edward`s Birmingham).

Feedback from a Masters level student on completion of her dissertation:

I would like to express my deepest thanks to my support tutor Zoe whose support has been most invaluable, without which I could not have possibly completed this project, and I am forever grateful for her help.
(Taken with permission from the acknowledgements of her dissertation, May 2015).

Personal Description:
I graduated in 2006 from Queen Mary University of London after achieving a 2:1 in English and History. It took me a couple of years before I found my passion for teaching, a passion that was made even more acute, by having worked in more conventional jobs, which I didn't enjoy after leaving university. I have a passion for horses and horse riding and have a young horse, I love writing, reading, cooking and walking my dogs as well as teaching. I love living in the country and taking part in all aspects of country life.

Teaching Experience:

I began my career teaching in Andover as a full time primary school teacher. I started off in Year 5 and progressed into Year 3. I have tutored a variety of different children:
Child 1: 2010- present, 16 year old (Autistic), GCSE Geography, English Literature, Science, Maths and Environmental Science. B-Tec in Countryside management.
Child 2: April 2011-November 2011, 10 year old, Year 6 Maths, 11+ preparation.
Child 3: January 2011- September 2011, 10 year old, 11+ preparation.
Child 4: January 2011- Present, 8 year old, Year 3/4 Maths tuition, horse riding.
Child 5: April 2011-Present, 7 year old (Dyslexic/Dysnumerate), Maths tuition.
Child 6: January 2012 - present, 11+ preparation.
I have been a freelance educational journalist for three years now writing for `Primary teacher Update` magazine which is a very reflective exercise and I thoroughly enjoy it.
In September 2012 I moved to a school in Ringwood and was the Year 3 Year Leader covering a maternity position.
(September 2013) As I`ve moved into my fifth year as a qualified teacher, I have now settled into a different school in Ringwood and am back in Year 5 enjoying supporting a wide variety of different abilities of children.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very individualised style and approach to tutoring. I believe that each child is completely unique and that if you find the right key, whether its jumping on a trampoline whilst reciting their times tables or making a colourful mind map to understand how the bodies immune system works, you can unlock their understanding. I enjoy tutoring because you see children really blossom and the progress they make with one on one support is truely astounding and lovely to be a part of. I believe communication between parent and tutor as well as tutor and tutee is key to success. If you would like to discuss my methods further please don`t hesitate to call for an informal chat.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified, excellent and enthusiastic primary school teacher. I have a great deal of experience working one to one as a private tutor as well as my vast classroom experience. I have taught in both state schools and the private sector.

Teaching Experience:

I have 6 years experience teaching Year 1 as well as experience supply teaching across both key stages 1 and 2. I have tutored privately for years and worked with children from Year 1 right up to 11+ preparation. I am passionate about what I do and achieve excellent results.

Tutoring Approach:

I have tutored many children on a one to one basis, subjects ranging from Maths, Writing, Reading and also Recorder lessons. The most important part of tutoring is understanding the child's specific learning needs. I tailor every session to suit the child and to follow his/ her progress. As a primary teacher, I pride myself on being extremely patient and on making learning fun. There is nothing to be gained from tutoring a child who wishes they weren't there. Once a rapport has been built between myself and the child, progress flies. Enjoyment is key.

Personal Description:
Imagination; innovation; inspiration - tuition tailored to the individual and designed not just to educate, but to inspire!

Annabel is a professional and capable tutor who has many years experience working with children, teenagers and adults. Highly motivated, creative and intuitive, she puts enjoyment at the heart of every lesson and believes everybody has the potential to improve and excel. Annabel has a DBS clearance and also has a certificate in 'Level 3 Safeguarding Children'.

Annabel effectively tailors every lesson to the individual and is able to utilise her skills in order to ensure every tutee is given tuition to suit their personal learning style. Equally adept with pre-schoolers and GCSE students, Annabel enjoys the challenge and subsequent rewards that come from working with a wide age-range. Specialist tuition for those with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia is offered to encourage confidence and proficiency when learning new ideas and concepts.

IMPORTANT NOTES

★ Tuition is carried out at Annabel's own venue. People learn more effectively outside of their home environment and also this enables Annabel to keep session costs down. All tutees are entitled to an introductory session (normally priced) before paying for a block of five or ten sessions. Online tuition is offered for those who cannot travel to the venue.

★ Hourly rates for secondary students increase if Annabel has to do extra preparation, or buy additional materials, and all KS3, GCSE and EFL students will be given an induction before a set price is given (this is never over £23 per hour for KS3 and £25 per hour for GCSE/EFL). EFL lessons cover those who are working to at least a 'Lower Elementary Level' and, unfortunately, Annabel is unable to offer English tuition to those who speak only single words, or no English.

Personal Description:
My name is Alexandra and I am Greek. I studied Pre-school Education and I finished my Masters in Special Educational Needs in the University of Leeds. By the end of my MA I was part of a research project run by the School of Education focusing on reading interventions for students from 10-12. Then, I was working as a Learning Support Assistant in a secondary school in the UK where I had the opportunity to get familiarised with the UK Curriculum. At the moment I am member of a special school in England, working with students with various difficulties, disabilities, needs and syndromes. I love my job and I am passionate with the field. I firmly believe on the differentiation that every child needs, a process that really fascinates me.

Teaching Experience:

2016 SEN Teacher in special school in the UK, London
2015, SEN LSA in special school in the UK, Leeds
2014, Learning Support Assistant in the UK in a secondary school, Bradford
2013, Research and Administrative assistant in a Research Project , focusing on reading difficulties students have and how to help them, University of Leeds
2013: Volunteerism in Reception Class, Leeds
2012: Supporting adults with SEN in a Rehabilitation Centre, Greece
2010: Tutoring in Greek children to support them with their homework and projects for school , Greece
2009: Practical Placement in kindergarten, Greece

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in the differentiation of the learning process for every child. Pupils learn with different pace, different methods and different materials. Teachers need to be open-minded and support every single student offering chances and individualised education approach. Children have the right to access educational services, be safe and improve as members of our society.

I am a trustworthy, hard-working and conscientious person. I am a quick learner with an exemplary timekeeping and attendance record. I take satisfaction in achieving high standards in any task I undertake, and possess a methodical and organised working approach. Equally capable of working both within a team and on an individual basis, my communication, interpersonal skills and knowledge enable me to interact with colleagues at all levels within the workplace. I love work with children from nursery, preschool and primary school up to stage 1.

Teaching Experience:

One very special working experience achievement was with children y3-4 and y5-6 in a primary school. I was not only teaching Italian Language but I was involved as producer and director of Goldilocks and the three bears in the Italian spoken language which has never been done before as a movie.
Date: from March to April 2005.
Actors were primary school children, which have been selected from the Head Teacher and me. I have trained them every week from March to April 2005 to play on different set. (Drama lessons included). The movie has been filmed in July 2005.
My experience was not only as an Italian Teacher but director and producer and composer for the editing of background music and special audio effects. This is the first time I have made my first movie. (17 minutes footage).
Sponsor for the project and investor was the Italian Consulate of Manchester (U.K.). Very good reward and payment + bonus for the hard work I have done in those months.

Tutoring Approach:

I can teach academic primary school subject up to stage 1 and Italian language for beginners, level 1 and 2 and advanced.

Personal Description:
Hello!

My names is Vincent and I am a 24 year old postgraduate with an international background.
I have German and English nationality and speak and write both languages at an academic level.
I lived in Germany 19 years, in Austria 3,5 years and in the UK for one year.

I have finished my MSc Health Psychology degree in the UK and am currently offering my academic and professional skills and knowledge as a tutor.
I see my main tutoring strengths in teaching German, Psychology and Statistics, as I have been developing these at an academic research level.

Teaching Experience:

My main teaching experience has been in German speaking countries and in the clinical healthcare sector.

Primary to GCSE level (German Hauptschulreife) in Maths with 3 children aged 10-15.

A-level to University level in Psychology with 2 students and adults in a seminar.

Teaching and speaking German with 1 child and 1 adult.

Application of behavioural reinforcement plans in psychiatry with children with special needs.

Teaching study skills to friends and students based on psychological theory.

Tutoring Approach:

After nearly 20 years of my own education (school and academia) I feel that it is very important to support a relaxing atmosphere while learning.

For me it is about the goals and values that develop during learning and teaching.

I am very open minded and flexible to adapt to the personal learning style of individuals and helping them with my knowledge and skills in the best way possible. Learning should be productive and fun, as we never stop learning during our life.

Personal Description:
Covering letter and statement

I believe art has always been a universal language, between people from different cultures and people of same culture but with different backgrounds, interests and experiences.
To me, art has to give a message, a feedback to the society and creates a some kind of social awareness of changes that always happen in our world.
In my work, I like producing art pieces which will bring people together in a discussion or an argument. To make them stop and think about things in life they may never considered before, which they will only enjoy doing so through the fantasy of art

I have been a loyal student to BCU, where I obtained, both my Fine Art degree and my MA in Art and Education Practice. Planning for my PhD research study too. This post will help me through my research and will give me a good access to both teaching and research. I have been looking for this opportunity to teach alongside my PhD study.
I became a practicing artist and researcher in the subject of Britishness and modern values since 2003. Working from my studio as well as researching . I am interested in culture diversity and community. I am quite focused on research and combining my work with strong evidence. I also have been teaching Arabic and have strong knowledge of the Middle East culture and I can give support to students coming from the Middle East, including helping them to gain confidence and engage with other fellow students. I also have great experience with special needs, being a mother of an autistic boy.
I have been developing my research skills for 13 years. I am quite an independent researcher and always looking for new methods to reach the maximum point I get to with my research. I believe in creativity and in carrying out new methods that suite different projects. Supporting my art work with strong research give me great credibility.
Supporting others too is a great passion for me. I always been involved in teaching both Arabic and art. I like passing my experience and knowledge to students, directing them to new research methods and making them independent researchers themselves. Good results requires good supervision. I believe students fail when they were not giving the right support or did not have a supervisor who understands their potential and help them enough throughout their study.

Khloud

Teaching Experience:

I have been also teaching Arabic to all age groups both in schools and privately for 16 years

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy working with others in their projects and I like engaging them in mine. Good team work is essential for me. I have great experience in communicating with people of different cultures and backgrounds. I always update my research and analyse my outcomes and findings regularly. I am quite calm and patient. I listen to students and give them time, attention and respect.
I believe in fairness and equality. I have a great respect for education and all what it stands for in terms of diversity and giving equal opportunities to every student and member of staff. Helping others reaching their potential in a safe environment is essential in education programs and practices
I am most interested in helping students becoming Encouraging creativity in research carried out by students. No limits.

Personal Description:
Hello,

My name is Zoe. I am a PhD, experienced teacher, tutor and youth worker. During my career, I have seen how young people can easily be the victim of missed opportunities through various reasons. It was my desire to leave teaching in order to pursue that which inspired my long journey: to make a difference in a young person`s life, who truly needs it.

I now run my private tutoring business to provide a personal scheme of learning carefully tailored to each individual.

Also, I provide a free half an hour "Meet and Greet" session where we can discuss in detail expectations, prices and curriculum.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience as a teacher at Secondary School and College level. I have been with the Youth Offending Team for a few years now and have specialist training in various types of "difficult" behaviour.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a tailored approach. Each person is an individual. Through a Meet and Greet, we have the opportunity to get to know each other and so I can get to know the student's needs and curriculum. From there, we can work together to create a tailored scheme of work and activities.

Personal Description:
I am an outgoing and confident individual who has a passion for learning and education. I have recently taken a break from my career whilst I went travelling around the Caribbean and am now teaching Year One and privately tutoring whilst preparing for a PhD in Psychology.

I have a great deal of experience within private tutoring and will design each session around the learner. For example, if the sessions are casual or are a top-up to coincide with school education, I can devise activities such as games, etc to ensure that the learning is very enjoyable. I will always devise activities to compliment the learner`s school education. Also, if the learner is focusing upon exams, I will ensure that sessions prepare them for an exam environment and provide them with strong exam technique (I will make these sessions enjoyable too - don`t worry!). As previously said, I will cater each session around the learner and their needs.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a Primary School Teacher teaching Y5, 6 and Booster SATs for the past 3 years. I have also taught on long-term supply in Y1, 2, 3 and Nursery. I have taught in a variety of schools from Outstanding to inner-city behavioural centres.

I have also taught EFL English (Trinity Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) at two international summer camps, Business English to adults studying at my university and 1:1 sessions to prepare students for Trinity College Cambridge entrance exams for universities in both the UK and abroad.

Although I haven`t taught within secondary schools, I have experience within the GCSE and A-Level curriculums and have privately tutored teenage students before.

I have privately tutored for the past 2 years with students ranging from ages 4 to adult. I have tutored for exams such as Phonics screening, Y2 and 6 SATs and Trinity College exams. I have also tutored children to support them in their learning (e.g. Maths and English). Having completed a BSc (Dual Honors) in Educational Studies and Psychology, I can also tutor GCSE, A-Level and University level Psychology.

Tutoring Approach:

I am currently teaching Year One and am privately tutoring during weekday evenings and weekends. Depending on location, the earliest I can begin on a weekday is 5pm. I am happy to tutor at any time during the weekends though. I am very flexible and am happy to work around you :)

These sessions can be held either at your home or I am happy to host the sessions at my own home.
