Tutoring Approach:

I have seven years' experience providing home tuition in mathematics for pupils at all stages in secondary education, including GCSE, GCSE Add. Maths, A-Level pure and statistics.

Personal Description:
A full member of the Tutors Association, I have much tuition, coaching and training experience; both one-to-one and in groups.
Holding several relevant academic qualifications (including a degree in Maths & Physics), I am also a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist, full Corporate Member of the Institute of Physics.
During my career, I have held several senior management positions within several British based companies.
Having a fundamental love of virtually all things mathematical and scientific, I very much enjoy passing on this enthusiasm & knowledge to 'A' Level students, with the aim of enhancing their skills & boosting examination performance.
I hold full and current CRB accreditation.

Teaching Experience:

I have been offering 'A' Level tuition in Maths & Physics since 1997
The vast majority of students with whom I have worked have either achieved, or surpassed, their target grades.
During the last academic year (2013/2014)) I was pleased to work regularly (typically weekly) with fourteen 'A' Level Maths students, three 'A' Level Physics students, one student studying Electrical Engineering, and one studying Maths with the Open University.

Tutoring Approach:

Being an active participant in, and supporter of, the whole education process, I have also held a four year LEA Governorship at a school in mid-Devon.
My approach to tutoring is, first of all, to talk openly with any potential student (ideally with parent or guardian present) in order to find out what is required, the problems, issues etc.
I treat all students as adults, and do not patronise or talk down to them, ie I treat each one as a mature individual. My aim is to work closely with each student, in the way that best suits him/her, in order to empower him/her with higher levels of knowledge and ability. The result being that their confidence and skill levels increase to those necessary to achieve the best possible exam grades. I encourage my students to actively participate in the tutoring process; to challenge, and to ask questions and discuss all aspects of the work content.
I coach all my students in exam techniques, with emphasis on layout, showing working, best use of time etc.
Last, but certainly not least, I believe it to be of fundamental importance to work with all my students in complete confidence; before, during and after any tutoring involvement.

Personal Description:
Hello,

I'm a 28 year old from the Old Trafford/ Stretford area of Manchester, I graduated in Law from Lancaster university in 2008 but currently work in Banking/finance. I am an individual who is quite fond of reading, debating and discovering new things. I would say I am quite lively, not too difficult to get on with, very ambitious but also with an equal dash of a patience for I am a patient individual. Although I am admittedly not fantastic at sports I do play badminton and football from time to time I can play a range of sports but those tend to be the main two. I am a massive fan of education and self development. The colossal impact both areas can have upon our lives is incalcuable, as such I tend to be never too far away from reading a book or learning something new to further myself.

Teaching Experience:

I have mainly gained a lot of my early teaching experience through tutoring younger siblings and assisting the junior year students either at college or University with areas which they either required either extra help in or further knowledge. As such I have further developed this over the last four years and I am confident that the contribution which I have made to those who I have helped has been substantial in helping them to progress onwards to the next stage and beyond. As such I would hope to extend this towards any student who desires to take me on board and to progress until they are ready for the task at hand.

As I have progressed over the years, teaching various and numerous tutees, my own personal & teaching experience has grown exponentially year on year. As such I believe I can approach any teaching scenario and offer the required angle to ensure success as a result of previous experience yet I still take each student on a case by case/ individual basis rather than a blanket approach.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin my approach with an informal but analytical conversation with the student, parent or both in order to assess strengths and areas where we can develop a plan of action or just to establish face to face what it is we will be doing in the time we have. I will aim to take each stage step by step until both you and I are satisfied that we are confident in understanding and explaining coherently the relevant information. I will be professional but understanding as patience dictates, most importantly any work set during the session will be wholly relevant, comprehensible and creative in order to match your needs.

I do incorporate digital media or a whiteboard depending on the subject if a visual element is required in teaching. Presentations can be sent via email at any time as well.

*For any LPC students I can also tutor and instruct in Solicitors accounts too.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of Christ Church, Oxford University with a Master's Degree in Mathematics and Philosophy. I am also a fully qualified teacher of Mathematics, currently working at Highgate School, one of London's top independent schools.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in London through the Graduate Teacher Programme, and I am currently working as a teacher of Mathematics at Highgate School in North London.

I have been tutoring mathematics since leaving university, and have worked for clients in locations such as London, the South of France and Moscow. I have tutored students for various qualifications including GCSE, IGCSE, IB and A-level. I have also prepared students for 11+ and 13+ private school entrance exams, and for Oxbridge interviews. I have also taught English as a foreign language in South Korea.

Tutoring Approach:

I take an approach to maths which focusses on understanding, rather than rote learning. This gives students a more flexible approach, and allows them to apply their mathematical skills well to problem solving tasks. I encourage them to use their initiative and to be confident in working independently. I also focus on practising techniques for exam preparation. I aim to make my lessons enjoyable and to focus on areas that students find difficult. While mathematics is my primary subject, I may also be able to give students help in other subjects by arrangement.

I have a degree in human nutrition and dietetics, the Proficiency English Cambridge certificates and an 120 hours advance TEFL certificate. This summer I attended a course in the renown University of Nebrija to form people to teach Spanish as a second language and it was fascinating.

Teaching Experience:

I taught English to children when I was in the university in Spain, and as an au pair I always try to teach my children anything I can, from art or music to reading, writing or helping with homework.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate student (Phd in Control and Systems Engineering) at The University of Sheffield. I obtained my undergraduate degree in electrical and electronic engineering.

Teaching Experience:

I am in the first year of my Phd studies. I have handled quite a few laboratory demonstrations and tutorial classes
for Masters and undergraduate students. I have also participated in various teaching skills seminars with the aim of improving my approach to tutoring and my delivery style.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring approach is based on the premise that there are no stupid questions. I believe that students show marked improvement when provided the right guidance in the subject areas they have difficulty with. Using real world examples as often as possible, I aim to provide my students access to the fundamental principles of a given subject.

Furthermore, I teach them how this knowledge can be applied in tackling exam-style questions and also to retain what they have learned for a long time.

Personal Description:
My name is Boma and I am currently developing an Online Learning Management portal to train students online in Business related studies. I have two Master of Science in Project Management and Digital Architectural Design and have always wanted to pass on the knowledge I have gained by becoming a teacher and I feel tutoring is an excellent starting point. I will go on to become a researcher at either the University of Salford or University College London in September 2013.

Teaching Experience:

I have mentored students for a number of years especially students who find it difficult to fully grasp concepts taught in class; it has been a very rewarding experience and allowed me to perfect my teaching methodology. I am very comfortable with most students whom I have come in contact with.

Tutoring Approach:

There is a saying that states that we can all not be the best but I think we can all be OUR best. My tutoring approach achieves best in the short term and this is based on this acceptance. My goal as a tutor is to enable my tutees to become successful Independent learners who are not just able to pass the next assessment but every homework, test, etc by themselves thereby. I do not intend to become a permanent fixture in your lives but rather I would ensure you become even better than me because your progress is definitely my success.

I begin every tuition commitment with an introductory/diagnostic lesson; I like to judge for myself the student's current areas of strength and weakness. I always start by checking the foundation because a sure foundation is the only way to guarantee our short-term objectives are successfully met and that we lay a solid foundation for continued academic ventures.

My first meeting is usually designed to understand our needs which are basically your objectives, marking scheme and any other concerns with regards to your study.

On our second meeting after having a basic understanding from our first meeting, I provide the tutee with a plan that is designed and customised to meet our objectives. I plan and bring with me a lesson that is relevant to the tutee's needs.

Lesson delivery is done very much with the learner's individual learning style in mind. I incorporate as many forms of media as possible to teach and keep the interests of my tutee. I also try to show the relevance and application of the subject in everyday life. I make sure that the tutee has a complete understanding of the subject as we go along and work in line with the tutee's deadline.

My aim is to ensure that the student achieve an A-Grade or be among the top percentile of the class. I am very flexible in constructing what I tutor around the needs of the tutee.

Personal Description:
Having grown up with my younger sister who has learning difficulties, I witnessed first-hand, the struggles and the triumphs she went through during her school career and it instilled in me a passion for supporting students with Special Needs. I worked for 8 years with a charity providing respite care for families of children and young people with a range of difficulties, and as a TA in a Special School before my Teacher Training.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my Teacher Training at The University of Hull - a 3 year Primary Teaching Degree for which I achieved a 2:1 with Outstanding teaching placements. Since graduating, I have taught Years 1-3 in an inner London Primary school and always ensured children made accelerated progress. During this time I took on responsibility for Science across the school, as well as the achievement of children with English as an Additional Language.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is to inspire children, create a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge. I believe in a practical approach to learning by planning activities that will capture interest - enjoy and achieve! Really understanding students strengths as well as their areas for development is the starting point for successful tutoring.
