I also work with children with behavioural difficulties/learning disabilities and with adults of all ages and nationalities.

Should you wish to use me, you would encounter a tutor easy to relate to and learn from in an enjoyable and easy environment. I believe a student who is abler ease with their tutor is far more likely to progress no matter where they are starting from!

I hope very much to hear from you soon.

2006-Present: Southwark Council. Supply Teaching with 'Classroom' agency. Work with children from mainstream, secondary & primary PRUs and learning difficulty schools.
Private Tuition (Paddington) Private tutor
Government-funded scheme to increase literacy levels amongst primary school pupils
2006-Present: Private Tuition in in all subjects and age ranges offered throughout London.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe one to one private tuition requires a tutor who can adapt to the needs of the pupil.

I would wish to meet the pupil initially to establish how they may best be assisted and what the pupil's key areas of concern are.

In short, each mind, young or old, needs different approaches and I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs and requirements of every student.

My approach, in most cases would be to follow a curriculum, finding out where their difficulties lie within this curriculum and how it would be best to resolve them.

I tend to use past papers when it comes to exam based tuition as this is ultimately what they will be faced with come exam time! However, when I have a pupil for longer there is more scope for more imaginative teaching or simply assistance with difficult homework.

With each of my previous pupils I have needed and been able to assist them in a way that is individually appealing to them and I have never had a pupil who has not achieved their desired results.

Personal Description:
I'm a recent University of Glasgow Biochemistry and MSc International Project Management graduate. I'm a French national and have been living in the UK for 14 years. I'm a lovely person, very dynamic and love the one to one of tutoring. It makes me really happy to help someone achieve something they have worked so hard for.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately now for 7 years and have seen my students come to grow in confidence, in understanding and in knowledge of their chosen topics. I saw a girl who I tutored for 7 months go from getting an 'Unclassified grade' in her Biology AS Level to a B in her A2. I have never seen a student of mine's grades stay the same post-tutoring and I am very proud of that.

Tutoring Approach:

I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I ask them questions about themselves, hobbies, favourite subjects etc; and then using that to better understand how they learn, I talk to them about their private learning and revision and the method of approach to that and to exams. And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced private tutor and mentor who enjoys working with committed students who want to develop their minds as well as acquire examination skills. I currently work full-time from home. I am also able to offer Classical Civilisation, Theology, and courses in Christian Spirituality and to assist with all aspects of university entrance. In addition to my tutorial work, I write and edit texts. I am a grandfather and enjoy the fresh challenges of early learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in state and independent schools in the UK, holding posts of Head of Department, Senior Master, and Headmaster (overseas). I have experience of teaching students from a variety of cultural backgrounds. I have mentored post-graduate students and proof-read theses and dissertations. For twenty years, in addition to teaching, I have been the Director of a small charity working on medical and educational projects in a village in Kenya. Since 'retirement' I have been tutoring from home. Most of my students have stayed with me for three years or more, while others have required short-term support for particular units of study.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning is the path to discovery, joy and well-being and that tutoring and mentoring focus on the needs of the learner. While there are countless resources available for learners on the internet, I offer a personal, non-judgmental approach that seeks to inspire and encourage the student at an important stage in their life journey. My approach is pastoral as well as academic, having regard for the individual needs of my students.

Personal Description:
Between the years 2009 and 2013 I taught Mathematics from Key Stage 3 and 4 in secondary school, up to A-level and Higher National Diploma levels in North East Colleges.

While I left the teaching profession to take up a role in industry in January 2013, I have continued to provide one-to-one tuition of Mathematics at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level. I still have great enthusiasm for Mathematics and take great satisfaction in helping young people achieve their potential.

My knowledge base from University and College is still fresh in my mind as I have continued to learn through my recent work as a teacher, lecturer and now a private tutor. This enables me to tutor a range of levels, including GCSE and A-level with confidence.

Teaching Experience:

For the academic years 2009 - 2011, I taught as a lecturer at South Tyneside College. This included teaching GCSE Mathematics Higher tier and Vocational Engineering courses from Level 1 (Introductory Diploma) through to Level 5 (Higher National Certificate).

For the academic years 2011 - 2012, I taught Mathematics at Academy 360. My main role was to teach Foundation and Higher Level GCSE Mathematics on the Edexcel Linear (1380) syllabus. I am also fully aware of the requirements of other courses of GCSE Mathematics operated by the major UK exam boards (Edexcel, AQA and OCR).

From September 2012 to January 2013, I taught as a lecturer of Engineering at Middlesbrough College with expertise in Mathematics. The courses I delivered on included Vocational Engineering and Computing courses from Level 1 (Introductory Diploma) through to Level 5 (Higher National Certificate).

Tutoring Approach:

I take a tailor made approach to tutoring from the first session by assessing what the needs of the tutee are, then working on these as well as an identified topic in each session. I encourage my tutees to develop secure arithmetic skills and how to identify where to apply them. I devise applied and scenario based problems to make things more interesting and make links between topics and even to other subjects that may be on the tutees individual curriculum, which can often help with their understanding.

Personal Description:
I am currently a fifth year medical student at Addenbrookes Hospital and Queens' college, Cambridge. I achieved a first class in my second year coming 39th out of 340 students. I graduated last year with a BA Cantab. I offer tutoring in Biology and Physics up to A-Level / Advanced Higher level and Chemistry and Maths to GCSE. I live in Cambridge and have my own transport. My own academic interests are in Pathology and Physiology. During the summer of 2012 I will be involved in a UCL project looking at genetic adaptation involved in pregnancy at altitude in Nepal. I am very enthusiastic and enjoy teaching, so that I can pass on some of my enthusiasm and knowledge to others so that they can succeed. I have always been dedicated to achieving high academic goals and am very approachable and friendly.

Teaching Experience:

Over the last 2 years I have tutored 8 different students at GCSE level in science and maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to:
1.) Inspire my students to set high academic goals and to achieve them.
2.) Provide high quality teaching in a way that makes the subject matter interesting.
3.) Give guidance on learning and revision techniques in order to instill confidence and discipline in studying.

In more detail:
1.) I believe that, given a stimulating learning environment, a disciplined approach to learning and exam preparation and confidence in one's abilities, most students reading science courses should be able to attain goals that may seem challenging at first. Having recently experienced the sharp end of university application procedures I feel that I am also in a good position to offer advice and guidance on higher education applications (particularly medical applications), including interview preparation and personal statement advice.

2.) I aim to teach underlying concepts and principles as a priority. A basic grasp of these allows finer detail to be added on top and avoids the large amounts of learning by rote that is sometimes associated with science courses. I will also, wherever possible, try to extend students' interest beyond the syllabus, as enthusiasm for a subject is a huge step on the way towards academic success.

3.) Just as the understanding of science subjects requires good application of underlying themes, learning and revision can be greatly improved by a structured approach. I aim to pass on study skills that I have learnt myself as well as spend time, if a particular examination is forthcoming, focusing on exam technique.

Personal Description:
I've had a passion for Maths from as far back as I can remember and my philosophy is that if you enjoy a subject, then you will become good at it. I came to live in Poole after spending most of my early life in the Portsmouth area. I love travelling and walking as well as most sports. My qualifications include a degree in Mathematics and a PGCE in secondary education. I am willing to come to your home or Skype - whatever is the more convenient or appropriate to suit the needs of the tutee. In terms of travelling to you, I am prepared to drive to your home free of charge, up to 7.5 miles away.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in numerous secondary schools in both the independent and state sectors during the past sixteen years. I currently teach at Poole Grammar School where one of my roles has been Manager of the Dorset Further Maths Centre. A significant part of this role involved teaching a range of students many A level modules in their own schools where they had limited A Level/ Further Maths provision. As a result, I am very familiar with teaching all board specifications at both A Level (including Further Maths) and GCSE. I can provide tuition for C1-4, FP1, S1&2, D1&2 and M1 plus any aspect of GCSE. I have an excellent record for gaining outstanding grades for my students at both A Level and GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in building a good relationship with my students so as to understand their needs and aspirations. I am patient and approachable and always encouraging. I love my job as a teacher and hope to enthuse my tutees as much as possible. I hope to impart my knowledge and passion of maths to whoever wants to learn and improve. I will always endeavour to give good value for money.

Personal Description:
My name's Tom, and I'm looking to tutor GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics. I'm in my third year at Imperial College studying Engineering, and in my free time I enjoy playing guitar, cycling and getting involved with societies.

Teaching Experience:

During college I enjoyed helping my class-mates understand difficult topics in Maths and Physics. During out-of-class study, I would explain difficult concepts that were not understood fully in class and walk through the process of solving problems.

Tutoring Approach:

-Check which topics you find challenging
-Check what you currently understand about the topic
-Give a walk-through of the theory, discussing points in a relaxed but focused way
-Apply the theory to some problems/exam questions

I am a patient person, and I work hard to find ways of explaining difficult ideas in an understandable way.

Personal Description:
I am a second year Oxford Undergraduate studying physics. I was at school at Winchester College where I boarded, giving me lots of opportunity to help other students of all abilities with their studies. I have three younger siblings who I have always helped with their learning.

Teaching Experience:

For the past two years I have been working as a private tutor in maths, physics and chemistry during the univeristy holidays. I have speciallised in helping struggling students at at GCSE and A-level who are failing to achieve the grades they need. I am also available to help bright students with maths or physics scholarship exams or Oxbridge interview preperation in physics.

Tutoring Approach:

The Christmas holiday is a crucial period to get on track for the summer exams. Filling gaps early on saves time, builds confidence and enables students to revise effectively nearer the time.
I have tutored both A-level and GCSE students over the Christmas period for the last two years and helped them build effective strategies to prepare them for a very academically important few months. Former students have always then extended the tuition into the more intensive Easter period, when we make the final preparations to ensure that they get the grades they deserve. I am in a unique position of having had recent experience of these exams and also a real knack of explaining how to solve problems in an effective and productive way, an area I get particularly good feedback on. So I know exactly what it takes to prepare effectively and I am equipped with the necessary skills to ensure my students carry it out.
I have particular success teaching Maths to students who are struggling or under confident in the approach to GCSE and students that have fallen behind in class and need some one-on-one sessions to get them back on track.

Personal Description:
Hello there! My name is Tanyel and I am an undergraduate student at King's College London. I study BA French and Management and will be entering my second year in September.

I am available to tutor over the summer 2013 starting immediately, with a possibility of continuing this for when I am back at university.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide range of tutoring experience. This originated from when I was in Sixth Form and developed a knack for explaining things to my classmates and friends. Since then, my enjoyment in tutoring has led me to be involved in two tutoring projects. This is both privately in my local area and also voluntarily, the latter being with my university and an organisation called Team Up ().

Tutoring Approach:

We would work through a main textbook (CGP range seems to work best) and I provide explanations in a clearer, more interactive manner to clarify understanding. I then set homework tasks based on what we have learnt. I can connect with all my students on a friendly level in this way, pausing to answer any questions, whilst ensuring progression and focus at all times. I have seen this approach work countless times in my experience. In some cases, students enjoy it so much they ask me to set them even more homework!

Teaching Experience:

The one thing that irritated me most throughout education was the heavy work loads and pressure you're given - at a young age this can be a very stressful time. I believe that the key to a students learning is to take things step by step, working on smaller pieces of work at a time and working slowly up to bigger loads of work. I aim to provide a fun teaching experience and aim to assist with students learning development.

In addition to tutoring sessions I can provide help and assistance via email and can also provide online tutoring (at a fee) via Skype messaging service. Parents or guardians of pupils at a younger age can contact me at any time and I will keep in close contact to ensure the parent(s)/guardian(s) and student feels happy and positive with the development.

Tutoring Approach:

I find the most import aspect of tutoring is to work out what the student needs help with most. It's about working in steps and ensuring the pupil learns more and more from each step. There is no pressure and due to not long having left education I understand most how frustrating education can be at a young age. I apply a fun and calm style to tutoring and ensure the pupil is happy at all times.

Personal Description:
I am very bubbly and happy, I am very enthusiastic towards learning and am looking forward to passing on my knowledge. I have a A* in Maths, and I am currently studying AS level Maths and Futher Maths.

Teaching Experience:

Although I have no true experience in teaching I am a leader at a cub pack and have to watch over the cubs and pass on my own knowledge of different things from within scouting.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that all children benefit from being taught by someone they trust, because of this I would never be to stern with them, however, I do not look towards tutoring lightly and see the importance in concentration and dedication.
