Personal Description:
I think i am able to inspire and make the lessons instructive but also fun. I think variety of pace and changes in activity ensure good progress and keep students attentive and motivated. Lots of positive encouragement and feedback on a regular basis and students should also be encouraged to feedback on their own learning and any difficulties they may have. I think I have a good sense of humour and this helps me to keep the lesson dynamic and lively and make the lessons memorable.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught over the last 27 years and my teaching has included several subjects: English as a foreign language and English (including English as a foreign language) and I have also taught primary Maths and the piano up to grade 4 . I have taught History and French at all levels and Geography and Biology up to National 5 level ( lower level) I have also taught art and design up to university level and currently provide art classes for children in my home every week.

Tutoring Approach:

I think learning takes place when students feel free to give it a go and make mistakes without any fear of negative remarks from the teacher. Good teaching is about establishing a relationship of trust with the student and customising the lessons to the needs of the pupil. A sense of humour is essential to help overcome obstacles and keep a positive atmosphere. Students should be encouraged to give regular feedback about the lessons. They should be encouraged to teach back to the teacher to demonstrate understanding and proper grading of the work should increasingly develop the students' confidence. Lessons are well organised in advance but also allow for flexibility in approach to individual students

Personal Description:
I am a professionally trained actor. I have written for numerous publications, with stories and poems published regularly. I am confident with public speaking, since I have been performing in diverse venues for nearly 10 years. I have an MA in Acting and an MA in Theatre & Performance Studies. I have professional training in elocution, pronunciation as well as accent and dialect work.

I am a keen footballer, and believe in the importance of keeping fit and eating healthily. I also love travel, gardening, fixing computers and watching and critiquing films and theatre.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a private Tutor since 2007, and am a member of a number of private tutoring companies. I have tutored in English Language, English Literature, Speech, Drama, Acting, Philosophy, Entrance Exams, and most primary subjects. I have tutored Students from all ages and abilities; including adults and teenagers, as well as younger pupils, and pupils with learning difficulties

From Aug 2009 to May 2010 I was a Learning Support Assistant, DeBeauvoir School, Hackney, London.

Main duties included ensuring that students with learning difficulties are both kept up to speed with the general classroom environment, and that this does not disrupt the other students.

Other duties include:
- To provide full time academic and pastoral support to individual learners with learning difficulties, and/or behavioural and social problems.
- To provide academic and pastoral support to all other learners when required.
- To encourage learners to pursue further academic or vocational education.
- To provide behavioural support in class and to teaching staff at all times.

July 2009 - August 2009 I was SEN Assistant at Kentish Town CE School, London

Main duties include ensuring that students with physical and/or cognitive complications are given the extra support they require within the general classroom environment, and that this does not disrupt the other students.

Jan 2009 - June 2009 I was a Cover Supervisor, Neat Education & Select Education, Sheffield

Responsibilities are that of a Supply Teacher, being responsible for the learning and conduct of a whole class of students. Maintaining discipline and focus as well as being at all times a strong leader and role model were essential at all times.

Other duties include:
- Academic and pastoral support to all other learners when required.
- Monitoring attendance of learners and set appropriate targets.
- Invigilating examinations and mark work.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that Tutoring is first about personal connection. Any learning can only be achieved given a certain level of trust, which must be established in order to create a solid platform from which further learning can then flourish. Younger students are most open to absorbing information and should have the chance to take academic information and guidance from a range of people. This enhances the educational experiences and broadens the horizons of a student.

Having myself struggled with poor teachers, or unwieldy subject matter, I know that, with the right teachers, such areas can come alive. More clinical approaches to tutoring further separate students from the learning process. Having experienced one-to-one tuition myself, I have seen the many positives and potential pitfalls the system can bring. These experiences galvanize me and help me in my own tutoring. I relish taking what I have learnt, and the exciting methods by which I have learnt it, and passing that on to other students.

Regardless of the level taught, it is impossible to make real progress unless the student first has engagement and interest in the subject. I see my task as tutor as a process of invigorating the material for those studying.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed my Ph.D, which was about the philosophy of folly in Shakespeare's plays.

Whereas English Literature, Language and Philosophy are my primary disciplines, I have also taught German and History up to A-Level standard. I graduated with a First Class degree in English Literature and received a high distinction for my Master's degree, which were both from London University. I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, which means that I am qualified to teach at university-level.

My ultimate objective is to teach and research at university level. I am a keen individual, who values the arts and humanities. I believe education is not simply a means to an end; rather, it offers exciting and new ways of thinking about ourselves and the world around us.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience is fairly extensive and I have taught both in this country and abroad.

For the last two years, I have lectured and led seminars at Royal Holloway, University of London; I have also continued to teach A-Level and GCSE students English, Philosophy and History as I have done since 2009.

In 2010, I designed and taught a course for American university students, which was called "British Culture". This course was, in essence, an history of ideas in this country from the Roman invasion to the present.

My work has been published in major academic journals and my thesis is currently under consideration by publishers. At the other end of the spectrum, as an undergraduate, I worked as a teaching assistant in primary and secondary schools.

Tutoring Approach:

I realise that at Key Stages 1,2, and 3 the emphasis needs to be on passing exams. At this level, I aim to provide an entertaining and relaxed session, which remains focused on providing and reinforcing the information required to pass an exam.

I hesitate, however, to say that my style is informal. I believe that when instructing younger children a certain amount of structure is required. This does not mean that the session needs be short-sighted; rather that we focus on a structured approach to attaining goals in an interesting and fulfilling way. At the higher levels and for mature students my approach is more relaxed.

Personal Description:
I am a successful, elite tutor and lecturer, and have taught a variety of school, undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD students. I have worked with pupils in both private and state education, many of my A-level students have gone on to university including: UCL, St Andrews, Cambridge (Christ, Clare, Selwyn, Trinity College), Oxford (Balliol, Merton, Hertford), Princeton and L'Ecole normale supérieure, Paris.

I have studied a broad range of subjects during my Bachelor's degree (English and Classics, RHUL) and Master's (Comparative Art and Archaeology with Law, UCL). I play a lot of sport (lacrosse, rugby and athletics) and have captained teams at national and regional level.

Please note the history tuition I offer is Ancient History, Classics, Archaeology and Classical Civilizations.

Tutoring Approach:

Academic experience: I have worked in private tutoring, state and private schools, university departments and know how examiners mark and what they expect. I have worked for 2 prestigious Universities and am adept at entrance documents and applications. In addition, one needs to be constantly aware of the changing curricula, mark schemes, and student specifications, knowledge and understanding of which can guarantee a 95%+ grade.

Encouragement: As a sports captain and Global Citizenship Mentor (UCL) I realise the need for a pupil's confidence to be built up before they can achieve better. In my opinion a pupil is never failing, they can just achieve more.

Planning: It is essential for us to have an organised lesson plan, and plan for our future sessions so we can map where we should be heading and what we have achieved. Many students suffer from poor organisation which, if remedied, would immediately proffer far better results.

Education: During my past 8 years of college, undergraduate and graduate university I have been educated in a host of valuable disciplines that help interest and inspire any student.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher and academic here to help with Philosophy, Religious Studies and general academic skills.

I can help you to become better at studying, to have greater confidence in your subject knowledge, to achieve higher grades in exams, and hopefully to enjoy the process as well!

My background is in Theology & Religion (PhD) and Education (postdoctoral research), and I am a published academic author. I am keen to pass on a love for - as well as the best skills in - studying, writing and all things philosophical.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Religious Studies and Philosophy at several independent colleges, as well as to private tutees, and have taught Theology at undergraduate level. I also teach the violin to adult learners.

A number of my former A-level students have achieved A* grades and have gone on to study at universities including Oxford, Durham and Bristol. Others have undertaken re-sit examinations and increased their marks by up to four grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly and encouraging approach to tuition. My aim to develop my students' confidence in their own abilities, and to enable each student to achieve the highest grades they can.

Areas on which we can focus include subject knowledge, exam technique, academic writing, revision skills, and time management. If there are other areas of your studies on which you would like to work then please do just ask!

Personal Description:
I'm a recent graduate with both a BA and an MPhil in Philosophy from Cambridge University. I've taken A Levels in English, Mathematics, and History as well, and am very comfortable teaching all these subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutoring experience at both A-Level and University level, in addition to experience with small group teaching at Cambridge University, where I taught first year undergraduates in classes of 10. At the other end of the spectrum, I have an 11 year old sister and am very used to helping her out with homework, and know the challenges involved in teaching young kids too.

Tutoring Approach:

I place a big focus on being friendly and approachable to students, to help make sure they feel relaxed, which I believe is very important for effective leaning. I like to make sure I understand where they are finding things challenging, and why, but also where they are succeeding, to build confidence by emphasising achievements as well as areas for improvement.

Personal Description:
I studied Theology at both Leeds Trinity College and Durham University, where I achieved a First Class Honours degree and later Merit. After doing regular guest teaching and classroom assistance, I took the PTLLS Level 4 at the Advance Training Academy and began tutoring in 2014. Since then I have taught people from Cramlington, Durham, Dunston, Gateshead, and Sunderland (to name just a few examples). Each of my students has steadily increased their grades, achieving A*-C.

My aim is to provide first quality tuition in Religious Studies and Philosophy and to help people become more confident in these subjects. I am an individual who is committed to making education a lasting experience rather than a lecture to be endured. My experiences have taught me that each student has the potential to grow and change. To that end I take on students of all dispositions, from the confident and capable to nervous and struggling type.

I am based in the North East of England and offer face-to-face tuition to anyone in this region. However, I offer online tuition to people from other regions (Skype, phone or email).

If you want extra help, email me and we can set up an ice-breaker session. Each lesson from then onwards is specifically tailored to your learning style. We can then focus on a combination of extra content and exam technique. I will continuously ask for feedback to make sure that you are satisfied with the quality of service.

Teaching Experience:

My experience is threefold:
• Classroom assistance: I did classroom work at Gateshead Volunteering and Opportunities Centre and New College Durham (2013). My duties involved: helping struggling students with classroom activities, helping them to express themselves and dealing with classroom behavioural issues. When working with students, I was noted for being approachable, compassionate, kind and patient.
• Guest teaching: I gave regular guest lessons in Theology and Religious studies at Leeds Trinity University College, Jesmond Methodist Church, Gosforth High School and the Royal Grammar School (2011-14). My lessons were recognised as well-prepared, thought-provoking, and thorough.
• Personal tutoring: since I started tutoring in the North East, I have taught students from Cramlington, Durham, Dunston, Gateshead, Gosforth, and Sunderland. I have also given online tuition to students at various regions of the UK (2013-). See testimonials for clients' views on me.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer two types of tuition:
• Face-to-face: tuition is conducted at the student's home. It is always good practice to have an adult around the house. Face-to-face tuition is available to any student within reasonable travelling distance of Newcastle City Centre.
• Online: tuition is conducted via phone, Skype and email (depending on the client preference). Online tuition is available to any student in the UK.

Each lesson is tailored to individual needs. The preliminary meeting will focus on your learning needs, and from this we will establish your goals for the tuition and the process for helping you to meet them. We will discuss how we can make the sessions play to your individual learning styles and strengths.

In lessons, we usually focus on two specific areas:
• Extra teaching: we will usually have a discussion on a particular topic.
You will be given a detailed hand-out, some discussion questions, and (if necessary) a brief background on the important key thinkers.
• Essay-writing: I will provide an essay-writing formula, which we will then
apply to past-paper questions, which will support you to write essays based on past exam papers. As part of the service, I will review the answer and provide detailed feedback to support further learning.

I also really enjoy learning about science (in particular neuroscience and psychology). I find astrology fascinating and so am both creative and a bit nerdy.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in both primary and secondary schools as a teaching assistant. This was primarily in art in the secondary school, teaching children how to draw and use various materials to create great artwork. In primary school, I have helped teach literacy, numeracy, phonics, reading, science and art. During these experiences I have found ways of explaining new information to children so they can apply it without supervision. I also have worked in various school holiday clubs, so I relate very well to children.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is individualistic - each person has their own learning style and it is important to understand which way a student learns best. Some people are kinaesthetic learners, others are verbal and some have an amazing ability to memorize information. I am personally a hands on learner, but I am able to adapt to various techniques for students. I am friendly and personable and think it is important to develop a good relationship with tutees.

Personal Description:
I have been a teacher for over ten years and have gained excellent results with students achieving 100% A*-C at GCSE and 88% A*-B. I have also attained 100% A*-C in my A-Level, teaching both Edexcel Philosophy of Religion and the AQA Philosophy Course.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in top Grammar schools for both boys and girls and in good comprehensive schools with students of a range of abilities. I have also taught special needs students who struggle to comprehend difficult concepts and have pushed high flying academics to attain the highest marks.

For the past seven years I have also taught adults at the Institute of Education 'How to teach Philosophy'.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to first identify what needs to be learned and to agree this with the student. Once this is agreed I will then form a flexible timetable for the student and to identify what we can work on lesson by lesson. I think it is important for a tutor to be open to any needs that arise during the lessons and although I think smart targets are vital, I also feel the tutor should adapt their lessons to suit the pupil.

Personal Description:
As a recent university graduate, I offer a closer bond with students than most tutors due to the lesser age gap. Many exams that students struggle with are ones that I myself have taken, so I can empathise and relate to issues students face on a better level than older tutors. I graduated in English Literature from UEA with a 2:1, achieved A*AA at A Level in English, Philosophy and History, and obtained 10 GCSEs at A* to A and 2 more at B. I was educated at Wilson's School in Surrey which during my time there was consistently ranked as one of the best boys' state schools in the country, and indeed was at number 1 in the rankings for a few years while I was there.

I am currently working towards an MA qualification with a view to going on to a PhD to pursue a career in academic lecturing and tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

Most of my experience comes from being on the receiving end of teachers and tutors from entrance exam up until university, and understanding their shortcomings and failings and what could have been done better. Crucially, I understand student mentalities and what students want and need at all levels. I have tutored Year 5-6s in Maths and Year 10-11s in English so far. Since joining UK Tutors I have taught a 9 year old in writing skills and a 15 year old in GCSE English.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a fun and friendly way of helping the student to realise their full potential through going over schoolwork, practice papers and other forms of assessment - but critically, I focus on talking with and building a relationship with the student. I don't want them to see tutoring as just another school classroom with another teacher - it should be a fun and intellectually stimulating environment that they enjoy participating in. My experience has shown that if the student is enjoying themselves, they will perform to a far better standard.

I can offer high level teaching in English and History, as well as Philosophy, Critical Thinking and German to an A Level standard, Maths and Sciences up to GCSE standard, other subjects can be discussed.

Crucially, I was a master at dealing with exam pressure and good coursework - I will provide expert tutoring for students suffering from exam stress and help them to format and write essays for coursework. As I did much of the same things just a few years ago, I understand better than anyone what it feels like!

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated from Oxford University with a First Class Honours degree in MMath. Currently preparing for full time employment starting from September 2017, I am spending the year focusing on consolidating my skill sets as well as performing regularly with my musical ensembles.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored privately for 6 years now, teaching all levels between Secondary and University standard. I specialise in maths, but am happy to tutor in any of the subjects I have studied to the appropriate level. In spite of having personally achieved the highest possible grades in every public exam I have taken, my proudest achievement to date is passing on this record to every one of my tutees, up to and including a 7 at Higher Level IB Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel it is important to find the way in which the tutee prefers to learn. From my own experience of schools, class teaching can be homogenised and lack the personal touch that is often required to catalyse the best results. My previous tutees have seen me as rigorous but sympathetic; not afraid to share a joke or two.
