Personal Description:
See what some of my previous students have to say about me:

Samuel has a quiet and unassuming manner which worked well with our lively teenage son who had previously been a little disinterested in Maths. Our son commented:- "that he had understood more from Samuel in three months than during his entire GCSE course at full time school ".
I commend Samuel highly. He is honest, friendly, reliable, quiet and exceptionally well qualified. He has a very good understanding of a child's needs and personality. Our son's result speaks for itself.
(John, Wallingford)

In my son's own words - "I wish all my teachers at school would take the same approach, I am able to understand & grasp his teaching methods clearly."
(Etrily, Didcot)

You were patient and calm in all your dealings with Lucy.
Thank you for your help and best wishes for the future.
(Rhonda, Wootton)

We are absolutely delighted with the work Samuel has done with our daughter. She has gained enormous confidence through his patience and wonderfully clear instruction. Never an academic high flier, she has moved on leaps and bounds through his help. We have had outside help before, but none with the success she has achieved with Samuel. We have the highest confidence in him and would recommend him to any friend.
(Dr Bart, Oxford)

I found Samuel to be pleasant, patient and thorough and my son was pleased to find that he was able to discuss some topics in which he was particularly interested, at a greater depth than was actually required for the exams, during the lessons. I am pleased to say that my son achieved A grades in Physics, Chemistry and Biology on the higher tier papers this summer, following his revision sessions with Samuel.
(Lynda, Blewbury)

Samuel's tuition helped me to understand and achieve a good grade in a subject that I found difficult. He was easy to talk to and willing to go over and over concepts until I understood. Without Samuel's help, I would not have achieved the grade I did.
(Georgia, Didcot)

I think that Samuel helped me significantly in my physics work, having the chance to work one on one with someone that clearly understands the subject to a great depth is far better than the class room environment.
(Elliot, Harwell)

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher, with six years' experience of teaching at secondary school. I also have over six years' experience of one-to-one teaching. I have helped students of all levels of ability prepare for their exams. Get in touch to discuss how I can help you too.

Tutoring Approach:

It can be easy to get lost in a class. Private tuition, though, is all about you. What you need, what you find confusing, what you want to learn.

Come to a session with an area you want to go over, a topic you don't understand or just some homework that you don't get. I promise you that no question will ever be too stupid, no matter how many times you think you have asked it before. We will go over it until we find a way that makes sense to you.

When you don't understand a topic, it is usually because there are some gaps in your knowledge further back - especially in subjects like maths and science. I will help you to find those gaps and fill them in. This often means that topics that used to be just a confusing mass of rules and equations suddenly start to make sense.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Personal Description:
I am a qualified IT specialist and taught Computing and IT at secondary school. I am currently working as a tutor within schools and privately teaching English, Maths, Physics and IT. I am very patient, and approachable. I have years of experience working with both young people and adults, as in the past I was responsible for the training and development of 30 staff. I have carried out training needs analysis and recognized training and development resulting from the gaps identified. I helped the organisation to achieve both Investors In People and Charter Mark awards.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 15 years experience training and development of employees in an organisation, working with consultants to develop training courses and workshops for the staff. I have taught very successfully for over 5 years in schools and have got really good feedback from students and parents. I am passionate about teaching and committed to helping students make real academic progress. I take a holistic view, I am supportive and sensitive to the students/tutees needs. I am able to work with tutees with special educational needs as I will differentiate resources accordingly. I generally agree and set targets, which are regularly checked to ensure progress towards the learning outcome. In tutoring, resources are tailored to meet the learner's needs.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring sessions are interactive, fun and stimulating as I believe it is important to help students explore and understand their skills and knowledge base. I support each student in all aspects of learning, including homework support, speaking, listening, reading, writing, practical and functional skills, students undertake assessments to improve both their subject knowledge and examination results. I love this profession because you never stop learning; every new part requires research into a historical epoch or subject creating an expansive remit which no course I can imagine could afford.

Personal Description:
Master Degree in Applied Mathematics at University of Cambridge (Part III Tripos), focus: Theoretical Physics.

BSc Mathematics and Physics at University College London (UCL). Received 1st-Class Honours over all years.

Graduated 43/45 points in International Baccalaureate (IB) with 7s in (HL) Mathematics, Physics, Economics, (SL) Geography and English. Received 7 A* 1A 1B in IGCSE including above subjects.

4+ years of experience in University/Secondary (especially in A-levels) tutoring. Always highly recognised for excellent teaching and enjoyable lessons!

Teaching Experience:

4+ years of Tutoring experience on IB (International Baccalaureate) and A-level (HL) Mathematics and Physics. Encourage guided training on exercise problems and past papers. Have been highly known for excellent teaching, being clear and rigorous at appropriate levels. All students I've taught have highly positive reviews and enjoyed the lessons thoroughly, while finding themselves coming out with a solid understanding and appreciation of Maths and Physics.

Also I can provide insight if you are thinking of pursuing Mathematics or Physics in University, from "what is maths like in Uni?", to advices in different schools, how to apply and write personal statement, etc.

Tutoring Approach:

Most likely will conduct tutoring in a classroom in University Campus, unless specifically request otherwise. This gives easy access to whiteboard for clearer teaching.

Training in Maths and Physics requires a clear, solid, understanding of the key concepts and rigorous logic. The best approach towards Maths and Physics is to allow tutees to voice any possible doubts towards the subject and then clarify them while making it more solid. After that, consistent practice with real life problems and Past Paper questions, under guidance, will enable tutees to fully achieve their potential, ideally.

Finally, people achieve their best if they find something interesting. All my students so far have always find my teaching fun and enjoyable, making learning much more easy and effective! I believe this is the key to continued learning to maximise one's potentials.

- Interactive approach, clarifying doubts and questions towards subjects
- Able to phrase concepts and theories in clear and fun ways
- Work on past papers questions
- Tips and Advice for exams
- Solid training preparing skills that applies to any subject

Personal Description:
Hello and thanks for taking the time to browse my profile.
I am available to tutor up to any level of Spanish, as well as up to GCSE level French or Maths.

Teaching Experience:

I`m an experienced classroom teacher available for French, Spanish or Maths tuition.
I studied BSc Accounting with Spanish before taking my PGCE, and I have experience of tutoring English to Spanish schoolchildren as a language assistant, and also of tutoring English to individuals privately in their own homes.
I am now a full time teacher of French and Spanish in one of the top boarding schools in England, having previously worked in an "outstanding" secondary school, where I tutored children (one-to-one) in Maths after school, after having completed a short course in one-to-one tutoring provided by Hertfordshire LEA.
I am also currently studying for my MEd in Educational Psychology, which I hope to complete soon. I have recently completed the CCRS qualification.

Tutoring Approach:

I am able to tailor my lessons to suit the individual needs of each student, whether it be focussed on Speaking, Listening, Reading or Writing (for the languages), or any specific topic for Maths.
I hope to talk to you soon.

I am a friendly, approachable tutor with plenty of experience tutoring in and out of school. I have a good sense of humour which I believe engages pupils and motivates them to do well.

Teaching Experience:

I have 17 years experience as a secondary school mathematics teacher and nearly 2 years experience tutoring Maths and English in centres and privately. I currently own my own tutor centre in Ainsdale, Southport, where I do all my tutoring. Personal Description:
I am currently in the final year of an Astrophysics PhD at UCL, which I began in 2010. Prior to this I obtained a first class MSci in Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Bristol. I hope to continue in an academic career when I complete my PhD, since I enjoy both teaching and research.

Teaching Experience:

I have two years of experience tutoring students ranging from year 9 up to university level. In addition, I have spent four semesters demonstrating in undergraduate Physics labs at UCL for one afternoon per week. I also have experience marking undergraduate problem sheets and exam papers, which helps me to advise students as to how they should approach their own exam preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

The ultimate goal of my previous students has been to achieve a certain exam grade or to pass an entrance exam. I think the key to preparing for exams in mathematical subjects is practice and so I aim to give students the confidence to answer questions on thier own. My approach to tutoring has therefore been to cover subject matter that the student is perhaps less confident with, before tackling exam-style questions in order to apply what they have learnt.

Personal Description:
I have lived in Lancaster for almost 14 years. I came to University in this city and never left. I live with my husband and two crazy kittens. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy reading, stitching, science fiction and fantasy movies and tv shows and keeping fit (I work out and swim twice a week).
I have a BA in English (2:1) and a Masters in Literary Studies. However, I get the most satisfaction out of teaching maths.

Teaching Experience:

Qualified with PGCE in Secondary English, Qualified Teacher Status awarded 2007
Qualified Teaching and Learning Skills (QTLS) awarded 2013

Last OFSTED grade: Graded Good (2) with elements of Outstanding (1) practice

2010 - 2011
Worked on an army training preparation course teaching English functional skills to troubled and disadvantaged teenagers who were aiming to join the armed forces.

2011 - 2012
Taught maths and English basic skills qualifications to adults in various work places

2012 - 2014
I worked full time as a tutor for adults, teaching the maths and English functional skills aspects of adult apprenticeships in Health and Social Care.

2014 - present
I work as a Functional Skills specialist, advising and training assessors on how to deliver functional skills Maths and English as part of their apprenticeship programmes.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to work one to one, focusing on building up confidence and security. I have worked with some very nervous learners and some who have had negative teaching experiences in the past.

I use minimal ICT, I prefer the old fashioned methods of paper and pencil. I design most of my own resources, based on the functional skills idea that maths and English should be relevant to the person who is learning'.

I strongly believe that there is no such thing as 'bad at maths'. The people I have tutored have not previously been taught in a way that works for them.

Many of my learners have gone on to higher education, have started their own businesses and have passed competency tests in maths for EYPS, Teacher Training and Nursing Degree courses.

Personal Description:
Currently I am a medical student at King's College London and I am also a tutor at an Ofsted registered tuition centre in Barking where I teach students of all ages. I had straight A's and A*'s in my GCSE exams and I achieved AAABB for my A-levels. I am a very enthusiastic, friendly and easily approachable person who gets along with new people very easily.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for about 2 years now. I have taught Primary, Secondary and A-level students in these two years. I have also been teaching in different tuition centres where I have taught kids in small groups as well as One to One. I have also prepared primary school kids for 11+ Exams and SATs exams. I have enabled some of my students to excel so much that their school is making them do their GCSE Maths exam in year 9 instead of year 11.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide a solid grounding in the subject while paying close attention to the needs of the individual.
An initial meeting establishes the student's needs and the direction tuition should take, usually with a parent present. Then we begin work on a programme of study which focuses on filling gaps in knowledge and addressing any areas of weakness.I set regular homework and writing assignments - the quantity varying with how much time the student has - and give feedback the following session. I try to implement all of the above in a very friendly, positive and disciplined way making sure the child exceeds his potential.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying toward a MSci Physics at UCL. Since young, I have been interested in science and mathematics and I would love to share my passion for science with more young people. When I was in high school, I was a prefect and one of the boarding house representatives and I worked closely with my peers to solve students' issues. I also played the piano and gave many concerts there. I was part of the archery team which came first in the Northern Ireland school competition and I was the third best archer. Currently, I have joined the choir, several volunteering groups, rowing club and the fencing club.

Teaching Experience:

I have had two years of tutoring experience and I have also helped many A-Level students with their UCAS application. From subject/university choices and personal statement to confirming choices, I advised them through the whole UCAS application process. Every one of them have entered their preferred university. I have also tutored many students back in China during my summer holidays. Many of them have received offers or have already entered Russell group universities. While having an excellent academic record is crucial, I believe knowing how to teach is much more important than knowing, and I am confident that I can explain topics clearly and answer any questions my tutee may have.

Tutoring Approach:

I consider tutoring to be very much an interactive process. I have tutored many students and I have found out the key for them to grasp an idea quickly is to practice problems and develop independent thinking. The process of solving itself, i.e. understating the concept, is much more important than getting a correct answer through memorized method. Once the concept has been apprehended, the method of solving problem will become obvious. I see three steps in my tutoring method. The first step is to explain difficult topics in textbooks and help my tutee with assigned work from school. The second step is to deliver a custom made course of the exam syllabus, offering much more clarity and depth compared to lessons at school. Finally, I would be a guide for my tutees to develop independent problem solving skills and learning pattern which would maximize their own potential. The tutoring approach will evolve during the course of tutorials to make sure all three steps are covered and all the specific needs of my tutee are met.

Personal Description:
I am a dedicated and organised individual. Having vast experience of the education system I often feel children can benefit greatly from a curriculum that is tailored to their needs.
I am kind and approachable and have often been praised within schools regarding the positive relationships i form with children to encourage their learning.

Teaching Experience:

Having almost completed my PGCE and received outstanding feedback, I feel equipped to start my career as a qualified teacher.
My experience lies mainly with KS1 and lower KS2 but I am happy to extend and support children beyond this age.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide a tutoring experience that is completely personalised to that child. I believe children learn best when they are engaged and interesting and this differs between children. I would like to have time to understand your child, their interest and how they learn best, would it be actively to visually or auditory.
