Personal Description:
I live near Cromer and the nearest large town is Norwich. Norwich is full of interest, with its university, rich culture and fine architecture. I love the Norfolk countryside and have the opportunity here to visit our beautiful RSPB reserves on the North Norfolk coast. Having a great interest in art, I go to London quite often to visit art galleries. In London I take the opportunity to visit the theatre whenever I can. I am learning Italian with a group of friends, just for pleasure. I am lively and sociable and enjoy playing tennis at our local club. I am in regular contact with native speakers of French and German.

I have a family of my own and relate easily and happily to young people

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a state school in Norwich and have long experience of tutoring in English, Maths, Geman and French.

Most of my teaching is in these four subjects currently. In addition I can offer Latin to pupils in their first two to three years of studying this subject.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an enthusiastic tutor, enjoy working with children and young people and am committed to helping them achieve their full potential.

I am particularly interested in helping pupils who struggle with maths at school and have come to dislike the subject, to become more confident and to find maths more congenial.

I have found that the opportunity to have individual tuition can make an enormous difference to the progress pupils can make.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, approachable final year student, studying Medicine at Imperial College London University. I am now completing my degree in Medicine, having spent a year on my intercalated BSc in Reproduction and Development, achieving First Class Honours. I achieved 7A* and 3A grades at GCSE, A grades in Maths, Biology and Chemistry at A level and a B in AS Level English Literature. I take great pride in my academic achievements and I enjoy encouraging people to achieve their full potential.

I am experienced in tutoring Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level Maths and Sciences, and I can also help prospective medical students prepare for UKCAT or BMAT examinations, interview technique, or personal statement applications.

I aim to help students tackle areas of weakness, improve their exam technique and confidence, and reach the best of their ability.

Teaching Experience:

This year I tutored a GCSE student and AS level student and we are waiting for their results. Last year I tutored 2 GCSE students, in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. We worked through topics as they studied them in school, building and improving this knowledge, or focusing on particular areas of concern. They achieved 2A*s and 2As, and 3As and a B respectively.

I previously taught a Year 8 student, teaching her half of the Year 8 maths curriculum which she had missed due to moving from abroad. This was challenging as I was teaching her subjects from scratch rather than building on original knowledge, but it greatly improved my teaching technique.

I have also tutored A Level students preparing for applying to Medical School, in particular with interview skills, UKCAT/BMAT technique, and personal statement preparation.

Review from prospective medical student's mother:
Tanya came out of the room a different person. Gone were the fears surrounding the UKCAT. I am really grateful. Definitely, Tanya will come to you for help with the interviews. From the beginning, you have been encouraging her and that is the trait of a brilliant tutor.

Review from GCSE student, Jade:
"Hannah is the best tutor I've had, she is very attentive, friendly and efficient. If it takes a long time for me to get my head around the topic, Hannah is never intolerant and she is always very patient and will help me understand the topic the best way possible. However, it rarely takes long for me to understand topics because we go through them comprehensively as well as surprisingly quickly. Sometimes she sets a few questions for homework after the lesson to make sure the student completely understands what was covered, which she will mark and go through the answers with me in the next lesson. I find this very useful as she helps me understand where I have gone wrong and I can learn from my mistakes. Hannah is also very good at explaining topics outside of the syllabus to help me understand it better, without overcomplicating things."

Tutoring Approach:

Initially, I will discuss the student's expectations of what they wish to achieve, and the areas which cause them concern. From this we will decide a personal plan of how much work is needed, and a timescale. Using the student's syllabus, we can highlight areas of particular weakness to focus on and improve the student's confidence and ability.

Additionally I will set the student work outside of tutoring sessions which can either be posted or emailed to me prior to the next session. This will highlight problem areas with the next topic we aim to cover, or consolidate what has been learnt in previous sessions. I believe that using past exam questions is very important, as they provide fantastic practice, helping students develop strategies and familiarising themselves with timing and the style of exam questions., which is key to success.

I am patient and confident, and can easily adapt my teaching techniques to suit individual students. I look forward to offering my support.

Personal Description:
I am an English, Maths, History and Science tutor who specialises in teaching children at both Primary School and GCSE level. I am currently an Undergraduate Student studying Sociology at the University of Nottingham and I believe that my age, adaptability and having undertaken GCSEs and A-levels not too long ago helps me relate to younger students and understand where they may be having difficulties.

Studied at The Latymer School, Haselbury Road, Edmonton, London N9 9TN from 2005 to present.

From 2007 to 2010, I studied nine GCSE subjects and I achieved six A-star Grades in Business Studies, Core Science, English Language, English Literature, History and Mathematics and three A Grades in Additional Science, Drama and French respectively.

My specialist subjects include English Literature (achieved an A* at GCSE and B at A-level), English Language (achieved an A* at GCSE), Mathematics (achieved an A* at GCSE), History (achieved an A* at GCSE and A at A-level) and Science (A* in Additional Science GCSE and A in Core Science GCSE).

I am currently studying Sociology at the University of Nottingham.

Teaching Experience:

- Work Placement as a Classroom Assistant for two weeks at Garfield Primary School, Arnos Grove
- Regularly tutor two younger brothers
- Been a private tutor since February 2012

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is student-centred. I believe that each student has a unique way of learning and understanding. As a tutor, I try to relate to the student and see through their eyes what they might find complicated. I cover the individual topic with the student, placing emphasis on the problem areas and then ask them to explain back to me what I taught them. I then use exercises, essays and past papers are then necessary to test the student's knowledge and to familiarise them with the format of each exam. The whole process is very interactive and I encourage students to stop me if clarification is needed and try to get them talking about the subject more comfortably.

Personal Description:
I am a family man, married 10 years to my wife Mel, with 3 beautiful daughters. I have been tutoring in the South Wales area since 1992 after graduating in Chemical Engineering with 2nd (Hons) Degree from University of Glamorgan. My hobbies include wordwide travel, Triathlon, Motorcycles/Cars and anything to do with science and maths.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating in Summer 1992 with an Honours Degree in Chemical & Process Engineering from the University of Glamorgan, I set up my tutoring business to assist parents & pupils with examination preparation, who felt they were being let down by the educational system.

I worked as an examiner for the WJEC from 1997 to 2002 marking Maths papers.

I currently teach on a 1-2-1 basis or in small groups, usually {but not exclusively} in the privacy of the pupils home, in the following subjects:-

* Key stages 1 to 4 {GCSE} in Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, Design and Technology, Electronics.

* 'A' Levels {GCE} in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics

* BTEC Engineering, Nursing & Health Care courses, Paramedics, Sports Science.

* Degrees in Engineering - Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Aerospace, and Nursing.

* UKCAT Entrance exams to Medicine and Dental school.

Tutoring Approach:

I thoroughly prepare students for examinations using past paper practise to build up their self confidence and develop the ability to read and digest each exam question.

During the interim term time, I conduct 'student led' lessons, where each of my pupils is able to tell me what they want to learn; whether it be new material, homework assistance or revision of old topics.

I structure my lessons this way because I teach many different students of varying abilities, who are studying at different levels and using different exam boards e.g. WJEC, OCR, AQA, EDEXCEL.

Personal Description:
I am a 43 year old father of four children, the oldest having just entered University. As a father of four I have a lot of experience in knowing how to motivate children and how to develop the necessary skills they need to either pass exams or for enhancing life skills. I live on the edge of the South Downs in a small cottage with all my family, a dog, two cats and several chickens.

Teaching Experience:

I came into teaching as a mature student after spending 15 years in the catering and wholesale business. My first training came with the Sussex Wildlife trust where helped run the outdoor field sessions for pupils from year 1 to A level studies. I then trained on the GTP course at schools in Brighton and then Burgess Hill before working at Ringmer Community College as Head of Geography. For the last 5 years I have been Head of Humanities at a private school in Kent, where I have been teaching GCSE Philosophy, Geography & History and A Level Philosophy and Geography. In the past I have also taught both English and Maths to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an open approach to tutoring and emphasise self learning and confidence building with the student being the focus and seeing how they want to develop their own skills. I will discuss, motivate and lead a student to query the topics we look at and then work with them to develop their exam skills.

Personal Description:
I am currently in the final year of an Astrophysics PhD at UCL, which I began in 2010. Prior to this I obtained a first class MSci in Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Bristol. I hope to continue in an academic career when I complete my PhD, since I enjoy both teaching and research.

Teaching Experience:

I have two years of experience tutoring students ranging from year 9 up to university level. In addition, I have spent four semesters demonstrating in undergraduate Physics labs at UCL for one afternoon per week. I also have experience marking undergraduate problem sheets and exam papers, which helps me to advise students as to how they should approach their own exam preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

The ultimate goal of my previous students has been to achieve a certain exam grade or to pass an entrance exam. I think the key to preparing for exams in mathematical subjects is practice and so I aim to give students the confidence to answer questions on thier own. My approach to tutoring has therefore been to cover subject matter that the student is perhaps less confident with, before tackling exam-style questions in order to apply what they have learnt.

Personal Description:
My name is Alex and I am currently a student at Durham University, having have just completed my first year studying Economics.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst employed as a guitar and drum tutor for two years I gained experience of teaching GCSE and A level aged children either in small groups or individually. I understand the importance of building rapport to motivate the individual, clear communication, regular checking to ensure they are learning and plenty of practice, particularly in how to answer exam questions well. Recently having completed my GCSEs and A levels gives me an advantage over most tutors as I know what the exam boards are currently looking for in candidates.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is based on your child's needs. For example if they need teaching topics for the first time I will explain topics clearly with examples whereas if your child has been taught a topic at school I will help strengthen their understanding through practice. I have an easy going manner and am very positive as I understand how important confidence in order to learn.

Please note that at A level Maths I teach Core 1 (the first module that everyone who studies A level Maths has to do) in detail to ensure a strong grounding for other modules.

I have a car so am willing to travel.

I understand the importance of pupil and tutor being able to build rapport and work together so I offer the first tutoring session free. I will also feedback to parents on a regular basis if this is required.

Please note I am at university during the following dates:

12th January 2015 - 13th March 2015
1th April 2015 - (approximately) 6th June 2015

However, outside of these dates I am available at any time, any day of the week.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced Primary School teacher. I have been recognised for raising attainment in writing and maths. In addition to this, I am passionate about teaching and raising standards- I do this by thoroughly understanding the childs needs and implementing strategies and the right support to close any gaps in learning. I always encourage the children to challenge their own learning.

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced Primary school teacher with over 9 years of teaching experience. Furthermore, I am an experienced intervention teacher and have over four years of experience of boosting childrens learning in maths and writing. Additionally, I have experience of leading whole school maths curriculum.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that a child can only succeed once the foundation gaps are closed. So, I do this by assessing the child in writing and maths and identifying gaps that need plugging. I then plan and teach personalised lessons tailored to suit the childs individual learning style. The child's rate of progress is carefully monitored and once ready I move them on to the next stage of learning.

Personal Description:
I am a motivated, independent and hard-working individual. My commitment is reflected by a first class Biochemistry degree obtained at King's followed by a PhD undertaken at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, titled "Modulation of Human Immune Responses During Anti-Tuberculosis Treatment" under the supervision of Dr. Jackie Cliff and Professor Hazel Dockrell in under three years and two successful post-doctoral posts conducting research in Type 1 Diabetes immunology at University of Cambridge under the mentorship of Professor John Todd and in immune thrombocytopenia at Queen Mary University under the mentorship of Professor Daniel J Pennington.

Teaching and supervision has been a great part of my career thus far as I have taught from BSc to PhD level and have supervised a number of student projects in the laboratory whereby I would be able to impart knowledge to my juniors. Presentation is one of my strong points as I really enjoy public speaking; from being a national level debater in school to presenting at numerous conferences during my career. On many an occasion, I have demonstrated leadership qualities at school, university and in professional life by organising major events and taking on responsibility greater than my assigned role.

Am relaxed, friendly, patient but at the same time firm as far as work and deadlines are concerned. Open about discussing my personal experiences and advising students regarding their career and future and any reservations related to that.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Biochemistry to University Level students and mentored Bachelors, Masters and PhD student projects throughout my work experience with all the students having achieved a first or distinction. Have taught two A-Level students Biology in the past with both of them expected to achieve a C but with tutoring getting an actual A* result. In addition, have taught several children at GCSE and lower grades with a marked difference observed in grades and learning.

Tutoring Approach:

One to one teaching approach understanding the student's needs and potential. Work really hard in understanding each individual tutee, with careful attention to strengths and weaknesses polishing the former and improving the latter. Always encourage my students to keep on top of their work and make them understand topics they are due to study in the future.
