Personal Description:
I'm a young, hardworking and dedicated secondary school Science teacher. Since graduating from University in 2009, I have been working with young people in various contexts; coaching trampolining, working abroad as an ESL teacher, private tutoring, and upon completion of my PGCE, working as a teacher in a highly successful Lancaster comprehensive school. Energetic, approachable, and confident, I'm able to relate well to young people.

In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and exploring the outdoors. I'm passionate about the environment and have been involved in various conservation and wildlife projects both locally and further afield. In my school holidays I enjoy travelling around the world and love meeting new people.

Teaching Experience:

Successful completion of PGCE in summer 2014 and immediate permanent employment at Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy as a Science teacher. I have been teaching the new Science curriculum at KS3 (years 7 and 8), AQA dual Science GCSE in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and the new 2016 curriculum to triple award Biology GCSE.

Private Maths tutoring for students completing GCSE's in 2010; all of whom showed excellent progress and went on to achieve their target grade.

1 year teaching English language to a range of ages (5 - adult) and abilities (beginner - intermediate) in Vietnam including one-to-one home tutoring.

Volunteer placements in Cambodia and the Philippines teaching underpriviledged children English and Marine Biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel it's important to make my lessons interesting, challenging and enjoyable for all students. Lessons should always be well structured, using tailored resources closely linked to the curriculum under study. I believe students should work hard and be active in their learning; during my years of study and teaching I have gathered a wide range of resources and activities that build in difficulty to make this possible.

I'm flexible in my approach to tutoring as I'm aware that the needs of different students will vary greatly and will change over the course of tuition. As a general guide, I will:

1) Identify key problem areas with students prior to their first session
2) Compile a short, concise list of learning objectives giving greater emphasis on addressing these areas
3) Work through objectives using the current curriculum tailored to the students' individual learning style
4) Summarise and check off learning objectives with the student, addressing misconceptions if and when they arise
5) Recommend any extra reading/work to enhance students understanding (also giving homework when this would be beneficial)

Personal Description:
I am a retired R&D Scientist, formerly with H.M. Government, where I was involved in a number of projects in the field of electronics and communications.
I am married to a teacher (who is qualified to B.A and PGSE, and is also a private tutor) and now successfully tutor maths and physics to GCSE and A-Level from home.

Teaching Experience:

I am a graduate of Queen Mary College, University of London where I obtained B.Sc (first class) and Ph.D. After getting my Ph.D. I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow where, in addition to my research, I had a number of teaching duties, including lecturing to an M.Sc. course on digital processing.

I have been tutoring GCSE and A-level since 2006 and have achieved notable successes including A and A* grades.
I will be pleased to pass on names of referees to potential students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the best results are obtained by kind, confidence-building one-to-one tuition so that lessons and homework can be tailored to the student's individual needs and speed.
I like to keep the lessons reasonably informal so that the student does not feel under undue pressure, but has time to acquire a deeper understanding of the subject. I reinforce the student's knowledge by working through examples, both from textbooks and from past papers.
I work very much as part of a team with my wife Sue, who tutors the younger students, while I concentrate on the GCSE and A level students. So while this listing is in my name, she will probably take over those in school year 4 to year 7. We do not tutor students below year 4.
Sorry, but we do not travel to students because we find it far more efficient for students to visit us at home, where we have all our reference material and teaching resources to hand.

Personal Description:
I am an aerothermal engineer working for Rolls Royce. I have recently graduated from Cranfield University with a 1st class MSc in Aerospace Propulsion.

Teaching Experience:

Professionally, I have tutored a number of GCSE (Mathematics, Science and Arts) as well as A level (Mathematics and Physics- AS) students and supported them achieve the best of their potential. I enjoy teaching students and make them realise that these subjects do not need to be as difficult as they seem and that they can be fun.

Moreover, I have always been tutoring my younger siblings and cousins on a regular basis. I can also provide support through skype when they are in need.

Tutoring Approach:

Teach the underlying basics. Always start with the background and explain the rational behind it so that the students gather enough knowledge to construct their own logic. Prepare mock questions for students to practise. Make it fun!

Some key points:
Mathematics: Explain how the formulas are derived so that students learn to understand which formula to use and when.
Physics: Focus on the underlying basics. Everything in physics is based on simple universal laws.
Arts: Teach the essence of perception, highlights and shadows.

Personal Description:
I am a 23 year old University Graduate. I graduated in 2014 from the University of Nottingham with a BSc Hons in Psychology. I have always had a passion for working with children though and am moving to Norwich for a PGCE training course at UEA. I have worked as a babysitter for a very long time and while spending time with the children on their homework I realised that I had the ability to re-explain tricky problems in a way that made them easier to understand. I have an A Level in both Maths and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent a little over a month as a teaching assistant, helping out the children who were working at a lower level in year 1 and 2. I have tutored three children and had great success. One child in particular moved up two levels in her mathematics during her six months with me and was able to score a Level 3 in her SATs when her teacher did not even expect her to sit the higher paper. Another one of my students had incredibly low confidence when it came to Maths but within a month of lessons she had won a prize in class and was contributing a lot more. I also spent two months as a teaching assistant in a special needs school which pushed me to utilise my creativity to help children learn.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to try and take maths out of the classroom. I want to make learning more exciting. I use whiteboards and flashcards in order to enforce the learning techniques that have already been taught in the classroom. I have found that sometimes one idea has to be reinforced in many different ways in order for the child to fully understand it in every context. I also want to make it fun, something that the child looks forward to every week and I have found that this has been very successful.

Personal Description:
I am an ex GCSE Studen currently studying a level math.t. Just graduated from high school summer 2015 and I am extremely passionate about maths which has helped me succed in high school years especially in year 10 and year 11 where I achieved 3 consecutive A* in all my mocks and came out with an overall A* in my actuallk Gcse's. As I have just left school I am pretty available and have decided to use that time to help other high school and Primary and GCSE students succeed incredibly in maths.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring students for a while from ages 11- 16 .

Tutoring Approach:

Having had just left school I am still very fresh with my GCSE maths and the most effective methods that can be applied to students to fit their needs. With maths I have realised that it is not how smart the student is , its how much they are willing to practice maths and not every student in school is provided with that motivation. I intend to teach maths in the most enjoyable way possible such as in order to encourage the student develop an interest for maths. Once that has been achieved it is impossible that the student will not achieve in maths as maths just simply involves applying the right method or formula. Though as mentioned above it is the challenge of getting the student to WANT to apply those methods and that is simply through building that common interest which I know I can achieve

Personal Description:
I am an Oxford graduate with a First Class Masters in Chemistry (Hons). I tutor at all levels and ages with a particular emphasis on the sciences and maths. I also teach for school entrance exams and have four years of experience tutoring for the 11+ grammar school entry exam. I am currently studying at the Royal College of Music, London as a postgraduate. I teach the flute and piano, and music theory for GCSE, A level and Grade exams.

I am happy to teach, at short notice, specific areas of the A Level Chemistry, Maths/Further Maths (including the applied modules: statistics, decision and mechanics) and Physics courses. I also prepare students for school/university entrance: 11+, 13+, common and public school entrance exams, university interviews and Oxbridge applications.

If you would like Chemistry tuition at Undergraduate level, please discuss your needs with me through the website's messaging system. My specialism is in Theoretical Chemistry, and teaching physical/theoretical chemistry is my focus. Undergraduate Organic/Inorganic Chemistry tuition is also available, although some advance notice of topics to be covered is helpful in these cases. Examples of the main topics I teach include:

Quantum Mechanics
Mathematics for Science (partial differential equations, multivariate calculus, matrix algebra, Fourier analysis etc.)
Thermodynamics (Classical/Statistical)
Reaction Kinetics and Molecular Dynamics
Symmetry and Group Theory
Photochemistry
Magnetic Resonance

Teaching Experience:

For the last four years I have successfully tutored many young students through the 11+ entrance exam, as well as students working towards GCSE and A level exams. This experience has allowed me to develop my one to one tutoring style, as has my own personal experience of tutorials at Oxford, where I was taught by many gifted academics. I also enjoy teaching larger groups in environments such as schools and workshops.

Tutoring Approach:

When I am tutoring, I aim to provide clarity as well as bringing the subject material to life. Being flexible, and catering to the different learning styles of my students is really important to me, but within this I will still maintain a systematic and methodical approach to the learning process. For example, in a typical lesson, I will discuss some relevant theory with the student, resolving any misconceptions and identifying any areas of confusion. Then, I will work through a carefully selected problem with them, guiding them step by step through to the answer, which has the dual purpose of providing them with a worked solution that they can use for revision purposes. Finally, I will give them a few similar questions to tackle under my supervision, until they able to solve the problems independently.

Most of my students are taught on a weekly basis for 60, 90 or 120 minute sessions, depending on what is required. Work between my sessions is an essential way of consolidating the material covered in my sessions. Normally, this will consist of a few exam problems that focus on further application of relevant theory. I will always prioritise quality over quantity when it comes to setting extra work so as to never get in the way of the student's existing workload.

Self-motivation and willingness to work hard outside as well as in my sessions will ensure the success that my students aspire to.

Personal Description:
I am a recent law graduate from Oxford University, studying in London as part of my training contract with a top law firm. I'm warm, reliable, patient and, at 22, young enough to vividly remember what school and University exams were like and the skills required to succeed in them (having always been a very high academic achiever) .

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored over 20 pupils throughout school and University, ranging from primary to A-level. Some pupils have struggled with understanding, others with unfamiliar exam formats, concentration or simply catching up with new classmates. I am also the eldest of four sisters, so have always had plenty of voluntary, unofficial tutoring experience at home, helping them out.

Tutoring Approach:

I am patient, positive and tailor my tutoring carefully to both the pupil and the priorities of their parents. I focus on the strengths of my pupil, and aim to develop these into confidence and enthusiasm in the areas they find more challenging. I believe it is important to set goals and then give regular constructive feedback and praise, to ensure that pupil and parent are satisfied with progress, throughout the tutoring. I also think it's crucial to make learning engaging so always aim to make lessons fun and heavily participatory.
