Personal Description:
I have been tutoring students for the last 7 years and have broad experience in tutoring at the GCSE and A levels in Biology and Life Science. I have a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol, and a Masters in Biological Sciences from the University of Leicester. I have been in academia for the last 10 years and am passionate about the subjects I teach.

I adopt an interactive approach with the tutee, providing interesting examples to break the monotony and to help the tutee remember the subject better. My teaching style is methodical, and the progress of my students is of paramount importance. I take into account the individual needs of the tutee so that I can help the tutee achieve a good grade. I can provide online tutoring as well as travel to the tutee's home.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring A level and GCSE students in Biology and my experience in tutoring dates back to more than 7 years. I have also tutored undergraduate students at Bristol and Reading University. In addition to online tutoring, I am also able to tutor offline and cater to tailor-made courses as well as to individual requirements of the student.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to try and imbibe in my student a liking of the subject as well as help him/her achieve a high grade. My approach is very interactive and I like to break the factual monotony of the subjects by providing interesting examples which will help to draw the tutee's attention as well help her to remember. I try to interact with the tutee on a one to one basis and identify the weak and strong areas. I then focus on these areas and work accordingly bearing in mind the tutees requirements. I am a committed individual and do my best to keep the interests of the tutee on the forefront.

Personal Description:
I have a degree in Pharmacology and a qualified teacher of Science from KS1 to KS5. I am also an examiner; I mark GCSE papers. I am a very hard working individual who is easily motivated and always ready to adapt and learn new skills. Having had various opportunities to carry out a variety of laboratory assessments as key components of my course, I am able to work as an individual or as part of a team. As a part of my degree I developed essential and transferable scientific skills. My project title was 'Synthesis and Biochemical Evaluation of Heat Shock Protein Hsp90 inhibitors on MCF-7 breast cancer cells'. Studies on how drugs are discovered, developed and used to treat disease gave me an understanding of how the human body functions and how drugs can be used to affect these functions. I have experience teaching from KS1 to KS5 and open university students. I enjoy travelling; visited New York, New Jersey, Netherlands, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Nigeria. I get pleasure from working out at the gym regularly and I love swimming. I also enjoy studying christian books and other inspirational books.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently at an inner city school in Portsmouth. It has 900 students on roll. I have over 6 years of experience working with people with challenging behaviour, dyslexia and autism. Currently I am teaching Key stage 3 and 4. Teaching pure Biology lessons to separate Science; Physics, Chemistry and Biology to core and Additional Science students. For key stage 3 I have followed the QCA guidelines and for key stage 4 the WJEC examination board. I have written schemes of work for year 11 students to cover additional Sciences and rewrote schemes of work to meet the recent curriculum changes key stage 3 and 4. I was also involved in producing resources to be shared in the department about hydrocarbons, polymers, smart materials, ammonia fertilizers and many other kS3 topics.

Prior to this experience my first teaching placement during my PGCE year was at a mixed comprehensive with approximately 900 students on role. I taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics at key stage 3 and team taught for key stage 4. This prepared me well for my second placement where I taught all three Sciences across both key stages. My second placement was also at a mixed comprehensive school with approximately 600 students on roll. I also was involved in Individual Student Assessments (ISA). Additionally as a trainee teacher I regularly was involved in school base activities to encourage students. I was a Student Ambassador for Portsmouth University. It gave me a lot of personal satisfaction and developed my communication skills. I also attended the University of East London gifted and talented day in 2008; which was attended by a number of schools from the borough of Redbridge. It was an inspiring day of learning and fun and I have taken elements from that day into my classroom practice today.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is to first of all find out my students weaknesses and turn it into their strengths; I feel that the study of Neuropharmacology as part of my undergraduate degree in Pharmacology was very relevant to teaching. I have a secured subject knowledge with all three Sciences. I also like to bring the best of people, by being patient and understanding. I have the ability to cope and work under pressure, understanding of the challenges that need overcoming to learn, ability to take ownership of material and adapt it to suit the learning styles and approach of individual.

Personal Description:
Hi,
I enjoy teaching and researching. Currently, I am working as a researcher at the university.
My area of expertise includes, Biology, Maths, Chemistry and Pharmacology.
In my quest of higher education currently I am working as a research Scientist in molecular pharmacology, and cell biology. My project is associated with Lister Hospital, Stevenage, UK.

Teaching Experience:

Visiting Lecturer at the university level From last 3 years. Teaching students at the university level theoretically as well as wet lab experiments. I had 6 Nuffield bursary students to teach in the university in last 2 years. All of them are very competent and few of them went to imperial collage, cambridge, oxford and kings for the graduation.

Tutoring Approach:

If a student is not have an interest and intellectual in to the subject, I take it as a challenge. I prefer to correlate the tedious concept of science with the normal day to day life and give a flavor of importance or demand of a particular subject.
Give me an opportunity to introduce myself and I am confident that I will not disappoint you. So far, none of my student left my tuition and stayed with me for longer.

Personal Description:
I am a well published Stem Cell Scientist at Imperial College London, currently working on regenerative medicine-based solutions for Osteoarthritis. I have over 10 years of experience in the field of biomedical research, biology and chemistry teaching and scientific writing. I have been fascinated with the way human mind works and learn - having tried several teaching techniques with my students here at Imperial College, I am confident that students under my guidance and their hard work usually stay within top 5% of the class.

Teaching Experience:

I have had a number of MSc and MRes students in the past and have had primary, secondary, GCSE and A-level, and college teaching experience in the past. Currently I am supervising a number of GCSEs, A-levels, undergraduates and masters students and lab-based research projects / theses.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student has his / her positives and negatives - I first analyse them and then slowly work on their negative points (with a good push to their confidence levels). Additionally, I believe for understanding any science subject (biology, chemistry or physics), learning fundamentals is extremely important for students to further understand complexity of life (more important if they choose to do biology / biomedical science / medicine / life science). So, my approach has always been understanding things more analytically.

Personal Description:
I'm a young, open-minded, Italian girl.
Even if I graduated in Life Sciences, I always had a particular talent for languages.
I love reading and writing, so much that I made a regular activity out of it, managing a website of book reviews.

Teaching Experience:

I spent the last year (2012/2013) tutoring a French boy - 12 years old - who just arrived in England, therefore not able to speak English at all. After one month of my tutoring, he was able to successfully pass the admission test at the local Grammar School.
At the moment I am working as freelance translator and language tutor.
I am a certified TEFL (Teacher of English as Foreign Language).

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is mostly about communication.
When tutoring, I make a point in being the most clear and open-minded as possible, to make it not just easy, but also entertaining to learn the daily lesson.
In addition to that, most of my effort is into finding the best way for the student to self-improve and organize their learning method, so to reach a new level of independence, even when learning their least beloved subject.

Personal Description:
Hello! I'm Simon. I hold a PhD in structural biophysics/biochemistry, plus I have an honours degree in biochemistry and a masters in clinical chemistry. I also have eighteen years of experience working in clinical biochemistry laboratories within the NHS. This encompassed various roles and duties, including producing analytical results to help diagnose and manage patients, troubleshooting and problem-solving, discussion of patients with clinical staff, management and supervision of laboratory staff and research and development work. More recently, I have acquired considerable experience working in the pharmaceutical industry as a scientist.

Teaching Experience:

During my clinical laboratory career, I was frequently involved in supervising, teaching and training staff from various backgrounds, from school placement through to graduate.

As a PhD student, I was involved in a considerable amount of teaching, tutoring and mentoring activity:-
- I taught undergraduates in laboratory-based practical classes.
- I supervised and tutored my supervisor's final year honours student. She graduated with a first.
- During a fourteen month period of secondment to an academic institution in the USA, I was heavily involved in designing research projects for, supervising, teaching and assessing undergraduates within the research laboratory environment.
- Acting in a consultative, mentoring and teaching capacity for my guest American supervisor's research group, especially when he was not around.
- I have presented science and research work in various fora, from informal seminars to international conferences, including a prize-winning lecture I delivered in the USA.

I am consistently told that I am a very good trainer and teacher. And as a bonus I love it, too.

Tutoring Approach:

I appreciate that everybody has different expectations and needs, and these always have to be taken into consideration when deciding how best to tutor somebody. Initially, I would seek to find out your strengths and weaknesses and use those to tailor my tutoring to your requirements.

One's ability to learn and understand a subject are inextricably linked to one's interest in it. The classroom nature of school or college education can understandably make it unsuited to students who are struggling with a subject. Similarly, it can lead to the potential of strong students of a subject not being fully recognised and nurtured. In both cases, this can lead to dejection, frustration and disinterest. As a one-to-one tutor, I work very hard to inspire my tutees and make the learning process as enjoyable as possible. I see it as being much more of a coaching role than students might receive within a school class, and seek to bring the subjects I teach to life, drawing on life examples and anecdotal approaches to make even the most abstract of concepts relevant and fascinating.

For the interested learner who is not attending a course of study but wants to learn about "science" and all it's wonderful facets, I would be happy to provide a more independently-structured course, that is tailored to your interests and requirements.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated in Biomedical Sciences from University College London (UCL) with a first class . I have obtained excellent grades throughout my education and received several awards for my academic success.
I am now undertaking a PhD within the medical field.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a mentor for first year university students to help them settle into student life and guide them through their initial year and help solve any problems they may face.

I have also been a tutor for A-level students at UCL Academy where I supported students with their academia and also provided advice regarding university applications.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe practice makes perfect, and this is the approach I have taken which has resulted in my success.
I would normally teach the concept making sure the student is aware what is being asked and what is being tested. Once the theory has been taught and understood, I would then test this with example questions. After reviewing the answers I would return back to theory to help understand any mistakes made.

I also understand different individuals work in different ways therefore I tailor my approach depending on the tutee.

If you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Personal Description:
As a zoology graduate from the University of Edinburgh I have always involved myself in citizen science projects and tutoring of younger years to increase knowledge and understanding of our natural world. I have a passion for the life sciences and general biology, and like to make learning sessions fun and interactive.

Teaching Experience:

I have been lecturing and tutoring at various levels on and off for approximately 8 years in subjects such as GCSE level science subjects, exotic animal care, ecology, and biology at all levels.
This included tutoring in study skills for students with difficulties learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to discuss the approach with the parent/child to adapt to each case, but overall an integrated approach of lecturing, exercises, and homework I feel works best. The main aim is to get students interested in the subject, as with interest comes enthusiasm and understanding.

Personal Description:
Hello!! Are you looking for an intensive revision session before a daunting exam? Or are you looking for long term assistance through an academic year? If so then look no further! I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Liverpool, having already achieved a first class honours degree in Biomedical Science. This interest in Science stems from three A levels (grades A's and B's) in Biology, Chemistry and Maths with all my exams passed at GCSE level. This passion for life sciences has enabled me to gain knowledge in various areas of science and I am offering to tutor you/your child to help achieve similar goals. Studying medicine allows me to keep up with ever changing research whilst maintaining the basics learnt throughout school. Aside from my academic life, I am a keen rugby player, play the piano and socialise with friends.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my university life it has always been encouraged to teach our peers through case based learning and PowerPoint presentations. Therefore I have taught to individuals, but also to small groups and even whole classrooms. On the other end of the scale, I have tutored Maths to a year 6 pupil that was struggling to make the grades in this one subject, and by the end of the year she was competing with top of the class. I have also taught English in Asia to students aged 4-18. I am sure you will agree that this is a diverse range of experience but makes me confident that I could be a suitable candidate for you or someone you wish to be tutored. I have also been part of a University society which aids in teaching medicine to younger people hoping to take such a career path later on in life.

Tutoring Approach:

Having tutored people as young as key stage 2, I am able to adapt to the needs of the Tutee and instead of enforcing my learning techniques upon a person; I gauge the needs and learning styles of the individual which allows them to develop their own skills whilst trying new ones. Personally, I like the use of short, concise notes (flash card style) and colourful posters which enable me to visualise my notes in an exam. However, I understand this is not suitable for all people and would be more than happy for tutee's to make extensive notes. Having performed research and undertaking multiple entrance exams (GAMSAT, UKCAT) I have learnt to quick read which I can also teach. I can also help with University style interviews (especially medicine) if necessary. My teaching style is very informal (within reason) as I believe that strict lessons can often be counterproductive.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD holder in stem cell research that is published in the field.

I have a gift for explaining all things science-related and for equipping my tutees with study tools that will help them with their course of study and beyond. Enabling my students to understand complex information and concepts is my particular strength.

Photography is a passion of mine. I can help you master full manual mode, allowing you to take control of your camera's exposure to unlock your creative potential and capture images the way you visualise them in your head.

Teaching Experience:

I have 7 years teaching experience, from working with those in professional training (nursing, chiropody) to primary school children; I have also taught at university level.

Having taught at the highest level (degree), I am skilled at helping students quickly reach those 'light-bulb' moments where things that were once difficult finally just click into place.

My teaching experience has included helping with homework assignments, examinations, essay writing, experimental design and write-ups as well as evidence appraisal and the writing of proposals.

Tutoring Approach:

Whatever you require help with, I tailor my lessons to suit you and give you all the extra support you need to succeed.

I enjoy learning the way you learn and seek to adapt how I teach to suit your style. Each learner has a preferred learning style from visual, kinaesthetic, tactile, analytic to auditory. Understanding this is key in helping your long-term learning.
