Personal Description:
I have a degree in Pharmacology and a qualified teacher of Science from KS1 to KS5. I am also an examiner; I mark GCSE papers. I am a very hard working individual who is easily motivated and always ready to adapt and learn new skills. Having had various opportunities to carry out a variety of laboratory assessments as key components of my course, I am able to work as an individual or as part of a team. As a part of my degree I developed essential and transferable scientific skills. My project title was 'Synthesis and Biochemical Evaluation of Heat Shock Protein Hsp90 inhibitors on MCF-7 breast cancer cells'. Studies on how drugs are discovered, developed and used to treat disease gave me an understanding of how the human body functions and how drugs can be used to affect these functions. I have experience teaching from KS1 to KS5 and open university students. I enjoy travelling; visited New York, New Jersey, Netherlands, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Nigeria. I get pleasure from working out at the gym regularly and I love swimming. I also enjoy studying christian books and other inspirational books.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently at an inner city school in Portsmouth. It has 900 students on roll. I have over 6 years of experience working with people with challenging behaviour, dyslexia and autism. Currently I am teaching Key stage 3 and 4. Teaching pure Biology lessons to separate Science; Physics, Chemistry and Biology to core and Additional Science students. For key stage 3 I have followed the QCA guidelines and for key stage 4 the WJEC examination board. I have written schemes of work for year 11 students to cover additional Sciences and rewrote schemes of work to meet the recent curriculum changes key stage 3 and 4. I was also involved in producing resources to be shared in the department about hydrocarbons, polymers, smart materials, ammonia fertilizers and many other kS3 topics.

Prior to this experience my first teaching placement during my PGCE year was at a mixed comprehensive with approximately 900 students on role. I taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics at key stage 3 and team taught for key stage 4. This prepared me well for my second placement where I taught all three Sciences across both key stages. My second placement was also at a mixed comprehensive school with approximately 600 students on roll. I also was involved in Individual Student Assessments (ISA). Additionally as a trainee teacher I regularly was involved in school base activities to encourage students. I was a Student Ambassador for Portsmouth University. It gave me a lot of personal satisfaction and developed my communication skills. I also attended the University of East London gifted and talented day in 2008; which was attended by a number of schools from the borough of Redbridge. It was an inspiring day of learning and fun and I have taken elements from that day into my classroom practice today.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is to first of all find out my students weaknesses and turn it into their strengths; I feel that the study of Neuropharmacology as part of my undergraduate degree in Pharmacology was very relevant to teaching. I have a secured subject knowledge with all three Sciences. I also like to bring the best of people, by being patient and understanding. I have the ability to cope and work under pressure, understanding of the challenges that need overcoming to learn, ability to take ownership of material and adapt it to suit the learning styles and approach of individual.

Personal Description:
I am a very positive individual that likes to carry out tasks efficiently. I feel that I am a motivator that can relate to a diverse range of people from my experiences from travelling and working in a variety of environments also I have worked with children from different backgrounds and educational levels and with my specific tailored programme of study I can help your child excel beyond your expectations.

Teaching Experience:

I have relevant experience with GCSE and A-level students from one to one tutoring to small group teaching of up to 4. I also have taught English previously when travelling in Asia.

Tutoring Approach:

From my years of experience of tutoring I find that confidence is vital towards success, which I instill in all my tutees.

My style of tutoring is very interactive with visual aids and diagrams with clear concise logical explanations of concepts and theories of the topics to be taught.

My strategy involves building a solid foundation in topics with a step-by-step approach where the basics are covered to ensure that at advanced stages, the tutee can excel.

If the tutee is unclear with a certain problem, breakdown of the problem into individual steps and working though each step with the tutee until the answer is derived to ensure clear understanding in approaching and conquering problems.

Personal Description:
I am a senior epidemiologist within a healthcare organisation and I have studied biology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, parasitology and epidemiology at both under-graduate and post-graduate level. I also have a Master's in Public Health. I am interestested primarily in human disease and work on vaccine-preventable diseases, infection and associated Human Papillomavirus-driven cancers. I have taught and lectured to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year undergraduates and to Master's students. I am fairly strict with regards to attention to detail and I believe that it is important to write accurately and in a concise but salient fashion. I am able to read, write and speak fluent French. I love mountaineering, ultra-marathons and am an accredited level 1 Kettlebell instructor.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a STEM ambassador for West of Scotland for the last 3 years, teaching biology and basic molecular biology, microbiology and immunology to primary and secondary school children.

Lecturing duties at Strathclyde, Edinburgh and Glasgow University on molecular biology/microbiology/immunology in context of public health.

Module Leader for Outbreak Management and Epidemiology modules for M.Sc. in Infection Control, University of Highlands & Islands

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed - it is crucial to see how the student thinks and take it from there. Everybody is different and in order to understand where the difficulties may lie, one must take the time to appraise how the student is thinking and which areas are causing the most problems. Using a number of examples, it can often be revealing to the student when one thinks of a scenario in a different way. However, it is imperative that the student appreciates that the attainment of knowledge and the ability to reason and apply that knowledge comes from drive, enthusiasm and structured revision. After tutoring, I normally arrange for students to meet with my contacts in the field of biology and public health so that they may gain some extra practical experience and/or some work experience before their next career step. I have also tutored students who are at various points on the autism spectrum.

Personal Description:
I am a trainee science teacher at the University of Manchester, and I am studying for a PhD in Life Sciences, with a focus on breast cancer research.

I absolutely love teaching science, to students of all ages. I am very patient, organised and reliable, and will work very hard to make sure you get the results you are after.

Teaching Experience:

I am in the last few weeks of my teacher training year, and I have secured a Chemistry teaching job at a top independent school in Cheshire. As part of this training year, I have experience in teaching all ages and science subjects.

I am also an experienced science tutor at both GCSE and A-level, with four years experience.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style is very interactive- I think it is important to find out how someone learns best, and then tailor my sessions to reflect that.

I understand the difficulties of learning science, particularly the terminology, and so I try and break through that barrier by explaining things in simple terms.

I am good at explaining difficult topics in fun ways that are easy to understand and remember.

Personal Description:
I recently graduated with a 2.1 in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry from the University of Oxford (St. John's College), achieving a 2.i. I completed my A levels at Dr Challoner's in Amersham

I'm enthusiastic about teaching and believe the sciences are something anyone can get to grips with once someone has explained the ideas to them in a clear and concise manner.

I am currently going through the process of becoming an officer in the British army and so am available to tutor until July 2015. In addition to in-person tuition, I can also provide help via email or skype, which could be especially useful for clearing up last minute problems before the exams. I can also provide tuition for advice on Oxbridge interviews for students applying for university.

Teaching Experience:

I participated in a mentoring scheme at my school tutoring pupils from years 8 and 9 for over a year. I have also given tutorials to biochemistry students in the year below me at uni. I have also tutored my little sister in the sciences for her 2013 GCSEs, as well as maths A level in 2014 and 2015.

Tutoring Approach:

Ideally I will contact the student prior to the tutorial and ask them what board they are on and to provide me with a list of any topics or issues that are troubling them; we will then spend the tutorial going through each issue until I feel he/she has grasped the topic.

Alternatively, if the student doesn't have any specific problems, I will give them some exam questions to answer and we will go through each question and the topic that it represents with them, at some degree of detail according to the level of understanding shown by the tutee's answer.

The questions can either be done during the tutorial, so that the answers and problems they faced are fresh in their mind, or can be emailed and completed before the tutorial.

I try to keep my tutorials relaxed and conversational so that the tutee feels comfortable with the work and isn't afraid to ask any questions, no matter how silly they think the question

Personal Description:
I am a recent Microbiology graduate, currently working in a leading veterinary sciences laboratory, with previous experience working in the Science department of a local Grammar school.

Having tutored throughout my degree, and not being long out of education myself, I empathise with students and understand the problems and challenges they face with certain aspects of their course. With a fresh and modern approach, I guide pupils to achieve a fuller understanding of their subject.

Teaching Experience:

I have been regularly tutoring GCSE and A-Level over the past 4 years, and have had pupils with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds, all of which have had successful exam results.

I am also a qualified TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher, and use the skills from this to present Science lessons in a clear and concise manner.

Having worked in a school as a Science technician, I am also aware of the challenges pupils face with the current topics and common problems which regularly arise. With this hindsight I aim to tailor lessons to tackle problems head on, and provide the time to learn which cannot always be achieved in a busy classroom.

Tutoring Approach:

I always work to a plan, and tailor each lesson to what the pupil wants to explore. With a wealth of materials, I aim to provide the student with the information they need, and provide my own notes designed to help the students with their individual problem.

Understanding the importance of these examination periods, the course syllabus is the backbone to the lessons, and regular quizzes are had during the lessons to test progress and understanding.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Jared, an enthusiastic 22 year old recent graduate with a first class degree in Biomedicine. I have been learning biology and life sciences for the past 10 years and hope to continue when I start a neuroscience masters. Having not stopped starting secondary school I am educated in all three sciences including maths up to GCSE level, chemistry and maths up to AS level and Biology to A level, and am confident at providing tuition in all of these areas.

Currently I am going over A level maths and chemistry and wouldn't hesitate to provide tutoring in these areas if needed. Additionally I am on the receiving end of tuition, having started learning German and am looking at starting BSL lessons in the near future.

Based in the Basildon area, I am able to travel within the local area using either my quick set of legs, my somewhat rusty mountain bike or good old public transport. I am free throughout the daytime at both weekdays and weekends, however my weekdays are likely to be filled soon, but evening tuition is not a problem

Teaching Experience:

Previously I have mentored several students who struggled with their GCSE maths and science and required the necessary C grades to gain entry into College. Whilst at university I helped local A level biology and/or chemistry students gain top grades by filling in any gaps in their knowledge and clarifying parts of the curricula they were not confident with.

Job wise, I am pursuing a teaching assistant position and currently volunteer in a local school science department, where I help prepare for science lessons and assist in demonstrations. As a result I am still in the know how regarding exam boards curriculum

Tutoring Approach:

My approach focusses on restoring confidence and making sure students maintain high expectations. I find exposure to exam papers, although thankfully not in such strict conditions, is incredibly effective in preparing students for their exams and helps overcome those pesky exam fears. Knowing the curricula is great by marks on exam papers matter, and it is a great feeling to know that when you sit the exam you know what to expect and how to answer correctly.

As science is a visual subject I try to add as many practical and integrative elements to my tutoring, which I find makes the subject matter much more memorable and less dry.

I am open to tutoring/answering any questions via skype/email/phone.

I am proud of the high standard of tutoring that I deliver and regularly tutor the following topics:

In the past I have also assisted budding medical students in Mcat, UKcat and GAMSAT examinations.

I never compromise in quality, therefore I have a limited set of students that I teach and because I have a duty and interest in their success, there are times that I am unable to take on new students. If this does occur, please accept my sincerest apology in advance.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

With kind regards
J

Teaching Experience:

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have always found teaching rewarding. However, my passion began from the normal everyday routine teaching on the wards when I was liaising with colleagues, students and informing patients as to their condition and the process forward. Being a dyslexic, I found it easy to discuss core concepts of (medicine, biology, etc,) debate and to visualize them rather than the traditional sense of readings lots of chapters across a number of books.

Following on from this experience, I began teaching a number of students privately at University ranging from their coursework, to subject matters and then to examination preparation. In the process of teaching, I enjoy developing a rapport with a small number of students and watching their understanding of the core concepts grow, but also the result the students achieved from their institutions.

Taught students from a diverse range of backgrounds, abilities and levels.

MY SPECIALIST SUBJECTS
1) Biology
2) Medicine
3) Anatomy
4) Physiology
5) Clinical Skills
6) Study Skills
7) Research skills
8) Thesis writing

11) Proof reading coursework

EXPERIENCE & APPROACH OF TUTORING
Experience:
1) Every student requires tutoring for different reasons; therefore I believe that an initial student-tutor discussion is vital so that we can establish a level of tutoring that works efficiently for you to flourish.
2) Been teaching for 3 years, in different settings, at different levels across a range of environments.
3) Taught many age groups
4) I have had fantastic success with my past students and hope to pass this on to future students.

Approach of tutoring:
1) The goals and timescales is dictated by the student from the initial meeting & based on this; an greed set of measurable learning parameters is formed
2) Friendly approach to learning
3) The student enjoys the learning process
4) I advocate a clinical problem-based approach to learning.
5) Integration of analogies
6) Stepwise progression of the subject in terms of depth, complexity and integration
7) Encourage the student to ask questions
8) Provide relevant information
9) Promote independent thinking, pattern recognition and problem solving abilities
10) Request regular feedback from the student on what they found useful and how we could course correct in order to maximise time, enhance goals and course correct.
Approach of tutoring with students and their disabilities:
Being a dyslexic learner myself, I understand your pain, frustration and have a lot of experience to streamline your learning process. So don't be afraid to discuss learning difficulties with me. Its not a question of ability, understanding or context, rather the format in which it is delivered. In my experience, students with disabilities make fantastic professionals. Previous experience working with disabled students; dyslexia, dysgraphia and ADHD.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
I have delivered a variety of formats in the past and below are my past approaches and I am happy to tailor the tutoring to the style that suits you best. In the past, students have preferred subject knowledge to be delivered in a simple method, step wise, structured milestones.

1) Focus of my teaching is geared towards modern medicine and practical, clinical application, with an emphasis on research and evidence based medicine.
2) Depend largely on the students aims and course requirements
