I am currently pursuing PhD in University of Wolverhampton. I finished Masters degree in Molecular biology from the same University with distinction in 2011 and started doing PhD. I am also involved as STEM (Sci, Tech, Engineering and Maths) ambassador which involves interaction with the school students to motivate them to make career in STEM subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have experiences of teaching students from primary school to University level for few years before I joined University of Wolverhampton for my second masters degree. I have gained experiences of tutoring for more than 4 years in United Kingdom. Presently I am tutoring GCSE science, AS/A level biology and undergraduate/masters level biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in understanding students, identifying their needs and delivering effective tuition based on best possible learning techniques as well. My each hour class includes short written and/or oral revision from previous class and moving to a new class based on how well my student has done in the short revision test. In general, I also assess student's progress with a comprehensive written test with past exam questions in every weeks/classes. I am very happy that ALL the students I have tutored have done extremely well.

Personal Description:
After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. Over the years I've had so many comments from students/colleagues about my ability to break subjects down to ease understanding, and coupled with my passion for science and sharing that with others I decided to change career and become a full-time science tutor. I've never looked back!

I am also a freelance examiner for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) - examining is invaluable to my role as a science tutor and to the development of my students' abilities in preparation for their examinations. It has taught me to understand the very specific focus of each syllabus as a whole, to read for the specific aim of relevant text, and to concentrate not just on surface comprehension but to expand science beyond basic skills.

I have many hobbies but particularly enjoy outdoor pursuits including: sailing, mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking and running. Most of my free time though is spent with my wonderful husband and beautiful tots!

Teaching Experience:

During my time researching at Oxford, I tutored an array of students in Biochemistry, Biology, Genetics, Human Science and Medicine.

I have vast tutoring experience at both GCSE, AS/A2 level covering all UK exam specifications, including IB.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style is informal, working with each student to improve their approach to learning whilst maintaining motivation. At the end of the day, learning should be fun!

I usually charge a very small travel fee to cover the cost of fuel.

Personal Description:
As a scientist I have had extensive experience of teaching in an academic and lab environment, alongside interactive science at festivals and museums. I have always enjoyed teaching and I am passionate about igniting curiosity about science in those whom I teach. I have worked on a professional and voluntary basis with children from primary school age all the way up to Masters degree level.

Science can be a daunting subject and I appreciate the need to build confidence by tailoring explanations to different levels of understanding, and different types of personality.

My own scientific knowledge comes from understanding a topic rather than parrot-fashion memorising, I believe this is the best long-term learning method and therefore I will use this approach where possible with my students by building up from the basics.

I am very supportive of questions as working in the scientific field has taught me that there are no stupid questions and I think that learning is more efficient when a student enjoys what they are being taught. I also like to incorporate every day examples as I believe this can make science topics come alive and become relevant to an individual.

Teaching Experience:

- Private Tuition (2013): Last summer I tutored two year 10 students in GCSE level chemistry, both of which had a notable increase in their grades. One student after only 1 month of tuition made the remarkable achievement of an increase in grades from 34% to 64%.
- Work Experience Weeks (2005-current): I have supervised 16 A-level/undergraduate students for a work experience week. This involves tours of the labs, explanation of the science behind certain experiments and how drug development works (with written materials), as well as supervision of experiments.
- MSc Workshop (2011-2014): I created materials and helped run a workshop in Protein Modelling for the UCL MSc Drug Design course.
- Cancer Research UK (2011): Made a video and helped the Science Communication team create an interactive game to help the public understand how drugs bind into proteins.
- Volunteer Usher at Cheltenham Science Festival (2008-current): In groups I have helped supervised school classes doing experiments such as making a hot air balloon from tissue paper, drawing organs on a t-shirt (primary school), extracting DNA from a strawberry, making paper model DNA and using chemistry modelling equipment (secondary school)
- Cardiff Science Week (2004-2007): Supervised students with various science exhibits such as fishing for insects from a pond (primary school) and making a cell from a balloon and popping it to look at the inside of the cell (secondary school).
- Science Writing (2008-current): Writing articles at Cheltenham Science Festival, for London Science Museum and the Royal Society (for non-scientists and Children) has greatly improved by ability to write materials for tutoring. I have a portfolio if you are interested in this work.

Tutoring Approach:

As well as the approach I discussed above I also provide and create my own teaching materials with visual and interactive aids. I prefer to familiarise myself with the school syllabus so I can tailor my tutoring to the pupil's needs.

For any older pupils I can also offer advice on careers as well as help with CVs/applications to university.

I can also on request do small fun "kitchen" experiments to inspire interest and excitement in science.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic, determined and very academic individual. Reading on daily basis is a habit and an addiction as well as, subscribing to several Science journals and magazines and keeping up to date with current developments in the scientific world. I am very open minded friendly and easy to talk to. I assist friends and families with all sort of coursework from international business management, Human Resources and Sciences. One thing about academic exercises is that knowledge is transferable. The skills acquired in one area can be transferred to another subject regardless of the fact that subject wasn't studied by the individual. What is required is; understand the concepts, have the structure laid out, have the right evidences to back up one's assertion and make your literature flow in a coherent and consistent manner. There is a first time for everything, try a tutor out and don't get too paranoid until you test one.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a laboratory technician and tutor in Biology and Chemistry laboratory in a college for 2 years. During my periods as laboratory technician I assist student with assignments. I also teach classes when lecturers are absent. I am an experienced home to home private tutor, and teach from primary, secondary to university. I am working in a new secondary school as a science technician, tutor and also training to a be a teacher. I still have students I teach all over London and also outside London for instance Slough, Woking etc. I am adaptable and fits quickly in any given environment. I have no problem travelling distances within London. Currently, I am writing a book for practical and experimental science for teachers, tutors and students.

I understand that students vary from their method of learning, absorbing and understanding teaching materials. The different types of learners range from kinaesthetic, visual and auditory. During my tutoring session I implement all three method of tutoring and then instinctively monitor and gauge student learning approach and then reinforce the style that is most suitable.

Tutoring Approach:

Due to my background as a laboratory technician, my approach is both practical, kinaesthetic, auditory, visual and theoretical. I will ensure my student understand the subject topic in depth by creating scenario's, diagrams, examples that matches the theoretical concept being discussed. I will keep prompting the student and using different learning approaches to engage the student to enhance assimilation of the learning material. As an experienced private tutor I have in possession numerous scientific diagrams, lecture notes, and power point presentation which I use in my tutoring. During and after tutoring students receive materials which continues to assist them in their studies. I use laptops, tablets, videos and diagrams to enhance and maximize teaching experience.

I have also worked with Local Government Chemist (LGC) the biggest private scientific firm in Europe with several outlets in the world. I have experienced hands on and progressive scientific developments and several analytically scientific progress. These include detection of cocaine, heroin and other drugs in body fluids such as urine, saliva and blood samples.

I demonstrate Scientific experiment and practical alongside teachers. My style of teaching is relating theory to practice. The advantage of this style of teaching is it unifies theory to practice, and hence, consolidating and building scientific confidence.

Personal Description:
I live in Cheshire with my partner and three children. I started teaching in 2001 aged 22 and have taught in London, Thailand, Sussex and Cheshire, across all Primary year groups.

When I get the chance to relax I enjoy playing guitar, exercise and good movies! I also enjoy sketching, designing and creating, by hand and digitally.

Teaching Experience:

13 years Primary teaching experience

Responsibilities include Primary Manager, Leader of English, Leader of Maths, Senior Leadership Team, Phase Leader

Taught in every Primary Year group

Spent 3 years teaching and leading at school named 'England's top Primary 2013'

During my thirteen years as a teacher and school leader, I have gained experience of teaching the whole Primary age range; Nursery, Year 1,2,3,4,5, and 6.

I have experience of managing a Primary school, leading the learning for the whole school. In addition, I have held a number of Senior Leader roles, in state and private schools. This has given me an in-depth knowledge of how children progress throughout their school life and a strong understanding of the whole learning process.

I have been the whole school Leader of Reading & Writing at two separate schools. This responsibility involves planning, implementing and monitoring reading, writing, spelling and handwriting strategies for all children at the school. I have also held the same position for Maths at two different schools.

I began my career teaching Year 1 at a school in South London. I next taught internationally at Harrow International School in Bangkok. Returning to London, I taught for three years at Fox Primary school, recently rated as 'England's Top Primary School' - telegraph.co.uk/education/leaguetables/10514182/Primary-school-league-tables-2013-Books-and-bees-at-Englands-top-primary.html I also held the responsibility for English and then Maths whilst there.
Moving out of London, I taught at two schools in West sussex, holding a variety of responsibilities. I currently teach at a school in Newcastle Under Lyme, near Stoke.

Tutoring Approach:

I plan interesting learning tasks, personalised to each child's individual needs. I am able to quickly develop positive relationships with children. I establish where the child is at with their learning through assessment, school reports and discussion with parents, before planning a clear program of study and setting challenging yet achievable targets. I believe the best learning takes place when the learning is fun yet clear expectations are set.

In the past I have also assisted budding medical students in Mcat, UKcat and GAMSAT examinations.

I never compromise in quality, therefore I have a limited set of students that I teach and because I have a duty and interest in their success, there are times that I am unable to take on new students. If this does occur, please accept my sincerest apology in advance.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

With kind regards

Teaching Experience:

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have always found teaching rewarding. However, my passion began from the normal everyday routine teaching on the wards when I was liaising with colleagues, students and informing patients as to their condition and the process forward. Being a dyslexic, I found it easy to discuss core concepts of (medicine, biology, etc,) debate and to visualize them rather than the traditional sense of readings lots of chapters across a number of books.

Following on from this experience, I began teaching a number of students privately at University ranging from their coursework, to subject matters and then to examination preparation. In the process of teaching, I enjoy developing a rapport with a small number of students and watching their understanding of the core concepts grow, but also the result the students achieved from their institutions.

Taught students from a diverse range of backgrounds, abilities and levels.

2) Medicine
3) Anatomy

EXPERIENCE & APPROACH OF TUTORING
Experience:
1) Every student requires tutoring for different reasons; therefore I believe that an initial student-tutor discussion is vital so that we can establish a level of tutoring that works efficiently for you to flourish.
2) Been teaching for 3 years, in different settings, at different levels across a range of environments.
3) Taught many age groups
4) I have had fantastic success with my past students and hope to pass this on to future students.

Approach of tutoring:
1) The goals and timescales is dictated by the student from the initial meeting & based on this; an greed set of measurable learning parameters is formed
2) Friendly approach to learning
3) The student enjoys the learning process
4) I advocate a clinical problem-based approach to learning.

7) Encourage the student to ask questions
8) Provide relevant information
9) Promote independent thinking, pattern recognition and problem solving abilities
10) Request regular feedback from the student on what they found useful and how we could course correct in order to maximise time, enhance goals and course correct.
Approach of tutoring with students and their disabilities:
Being a dyslexic learner myself, I understand your pain, frustration and have a lot of experience to streamline your learning process. So don't be afraid to discuss learning difficulties with me. Its not a question of ability, understanding or context, rather the format in which it is delivered. In my experience, students with disabilities make fantastic professionals. Previous experience working with disabled students; dyslexia, dysgraphia and ADHD.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
I have delivered a variety of formats in the past and below are my past approaches and I am happy to tailor the tutoring to the style that suits you best. In the past, students have preferred subject knowledge to be delivered in a simple method, step wise, structured milestones.

Student orientated:
1) Focus of my teaching is geared towards modern medicine and practical, clinical application, with an emphasis on research and evidence based medicine.
2) Depend largely on the students aims and course requirements
3) Happy to help teach problem areas and prepare for exams
4) Focuses on core concepts, application with practical examples, and how these are tested in the examination
5) Explore subject areas in more depth than might be possible in time limited lectures
6) Leave students with problem sets between sessions
7) Can provide crib sheets so that the student can focus on the discussions and core concepts

Lectures:
1) Share my knowledge, subject matter and engage with you in a challenging and thought provoking way.
2) There will be an expectation that the student has read around the subject matter of the lecture, which will add to your understanding and develop your critical and analytical skills
Seminars
1) Present and discuss ideas in smaller groups, engage in lively debates to share your interpretations and opinions with other students
2) Examination crash courses with a group of students- is a popular request

Tutorials
1) One to one, or small group sessions, problem solving sessions

Workshop

4) Extended, in-depth piece of work, with goals, feedback and xxx
5) Writing short exam questions and answer sessions which tests students understanding of the session
6) Short examinations for students to try closer to the exam period
7) Supplement with methods of remembering difficult topics, thus improving revision techniques and boosting confidence

SUPPORTING THE STUDENT
Supporting the student is key; therefore the transition to a new way of learning can be a challenge, with university study differing greatly from college and school learning. I intend to guide you towards interactive resources tailored for your needs. As your tutor, I will help and advice on study related issues and help you monitor and reflect on your academic progress. I will assist you with online resources to best leverage your studies.
Review, feedback & course correction
1) A focused, tailored, review of your academic and personal progress that takes place initially, and regularly to make sure you stay on track.
2) Discuss the students sources of academic support that are available and possible academic and professional development opportunities. During such discussion, I would aim to discuss:
a) Academic development
b) Review feedback
c) Discuss your achievements to date
d) Consider any early goals

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching/tutoring is simple yet distinctive, I first get to know my tutee(s) to understand the areas where they excel and struggle. Then we work together to tackle those areas which they find difficult as well as maintain and improve the remaining ones where they are already achieving.

I truly believe that our success is in large part due to our adaptability and ingenuity and I will try my best to make you achieve your goal.
