Personal Description:
I am a patient teacher. I am warm and open. I encourage pupils by setting reasonable targets. I speak French fluently and I have a degree in Management Sciences with Computing. I speak and have studied French to Masters level. I have a Masters in Marketing and a PGCE and a Diploma in Dyslexia and Literacy. I am fully qualified to write Assessment Reports and make applications for extra time in examinations. I have tutored children and adults before. I am based in Finsbury Park.

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced primary school teacher. I am fully qualified and have an up to date CRB check. I have experience of teaching in state, private, prep and SEN (Special Educational Needs) Schools. I am experienced in working with children with special/additional needs. I am able to support children on a 1-2-1 basis to ensure that they receive the additional input that they need in order to achieve. I have just completed a postgraduate in dyslexia and literacy with Dyslexia Action and the University of York. I have now take a senior role as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator at a Prep School.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in looking at and trying to educate the whole child. In doing this I think that one can inspire the class and improve their confidence and their desire to learn and develop. I looked carefully at the children's previous work to evaluate their current level before planning a new lesson. For each lesson I teach, I plan the lesson in detail, listing resources, support staff and their roles, ICT resources used, differentiation for different abilities, the structure and timing of the lesson, the objectives and learning outcomes expected as well as the tasks that we are going to carry out, and the teaching methods that would be most effective for the subject and the class.

I used a variety of working styles such as kinaesthetic, auditory and visual methods to increase the reach and differentiation of the teaching for all students. I use these methods to anticipate and resolve any problems and identify opportunities for extending the pupils learning. I often use the interactive whiteboard to display and interact with resources such as web pages, educational games, and visual or auditory presentations. This is a fantastic way of stimulating and allowing children to lead their learning.

I understand the importance of inclusive provision and practice. I am very interested in working with children with learning difficulties. I assess children's work with a view to assessing ways in which we could improve their understanding and presentation of work. I also tried to differentiate effectively for all the pupils through my use of questioning. I used extending questions or questions which would be aimed at different ability groups to maximise my pupil's understanding of my objectives.

Personal Description:
I currently work on a one to one and small group basis with students of various ages in a Medical Pupil Referral unit I find the one to one contact simulating and highly rewarding. I have taught for over 30 years and am an Advanced Skills Teacher. I have always wanted to teach and love what I do. I am patient, understanding, supportive and highly aware of the need to enable the student to achieve. I work through praise and careful guidance work to ensure the student gets the most from the one to one contact. I am educated to Masters degree level and have taught in both comprehensive schools and special needs units. I believe in a child centred approach to learning and always aim to work for and with the student.

Teaching Experience:

I was Head of Drama in a school in Dorset for seventeen years. During that time I worked extensively with children of all ages. I have trained teachers and guided those new to the teaching profession successfully through the early stages of their careers in teaching. I have directed numerous school and examination productions which has given me an excellent knowledge of plays and productions for use with English and Drama teaching. I have taught adults GCSE Psychology with a very good success rate. I have enjoyed the opportunities teaching in both the comprehensive and adult sectors have given me and I hope to continue this type of tuition through a more individual and one to one basis.
I am currently working with students who are unable to access school due to medical conditions. This has enabled me to further develop and extend my approaches and strategies for one to one teaching and small group situations.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is always to work with the needs of the student involved. I always listen to their requirements and tailor my teaching to what is needed. I value student interaction and would hope to use as much student based ideas and thoughts where this is possible. I have an attitude to teaching which always aims to enable the learner in a positive and supportive environment.
I have a good sense of humour, I am patient , a very good listener and an individual who works in a proactive manner. I create and work with a range of resources which are specific to the topic and area being studied and also create resources tailor made for the student involved. I use praise and positive areas continually as I believe we all like to receive positive thoughts about ourselves and this is a means to promoting a good and solid foundation to study techniques.
Although I have been teaching for a long time I really enjoy the challenges, satisfaction and creativity teaching offers. For every student I work with I plan and create personal , individual lessons and approaches which are appropriate for each student. This approach has led to satisfied individuals at all levels.

Personal Description:
Tahmina is a confident and outgoing person with a positive personality. A grammar school- educated graduate and Mathematics teacher based in Central London.

She is a patient and supportive tutor with several years experience teaching pupils in a mainstream classroom setting, in small groups and on a one-to-one level. Tahmna is very familiar with the GCSE and 11+ structures and is confident in preparing pupils for these examinations.

She has high expectations of all her pupils and strongly believes that aiming high is the first step to academic success. Tahmina provides her students with self-confidence and motivation within her lessons. Her passion for her specialist subject and light hearted approach has worked well for many of her previous pupils where their results have exceeded their predicted grades in GCSE mathematics achieving A*-B grades. She has had very high pass rates with 90% of her 11+ students securing their place in Grammar schools.

Teaching Experience:

Holding a bachelor honours degree in Mathematics and Education as well as a qualified teacher status, her experience ranges from Key stage 2 to 4. She has taught both in primary and secondary schools across Sussex and Kent as well as tuition centres including 'Extra Tuition Centre' and 'Tuitions for you' based in North West Kent.

Tahmina has been working as a Secondary Maths Teacher in an oversubscribed academy in London. She has recently been through an OFSTED inspection under the new framework (2012) and has been graded overall as a "good" teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

In the initial lesson, Tahmina assesses her student's current level and aims to build upon their current knowledge and understanding. She works with pupils on an individual basis and personalises lessons to cater for their learning needs.

Tahmina uses engaging and innovative methods to teach difficult concepts in mathematics. Using ICT is essential, PowerPoint's, e-learning such as mymaths and mathswatch are all used to engage learners and consolidate their learning.
She often addresses difficult areas of the mathematics curriculum by making links to real life contexts and personal interests. For example teaching negative numbers links are made to shopping and overdrafts to engage pupils to something they would want to buy themselves. This has been proven to be an effective method within classrooms in outstanding schools and is therefore replicated within a one-to-one scenario.

"An inspiring and enthusiastic tutor, who is committed to teaching and helping your child achieve their full potential"

Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student at King's College London aspiring to embark on an academic surgery career. I am particularly interested in education and whilst at university, I have been involved in various extracurricular activities including organising fundraising, academic support and community events.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught a diverse audience of students, from teaching at a volunteer run homework club for inner city children with refugee status to tutoring middle aged professionals preparing for medical school entrance examinations. This range of audience has led me to acquire some of the most important communication skills required to become an excellent tutor. I have been tutoring secondary school pupils for over 5 years now and I feel as a secondary student of the recent past myself I can pass on the techniques and methods that I know work to excel in today's system.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer in a tailored and planned approach to every student. Each student has individual needs which have to be fully understood before a plan of action can be formulated. I build a plan with my students and we work together to ensure progress through it. Regular reflection is also an important aspect of my teaching approach which helps the student realise where they need to focus.

Personal Description:
I am a Geography graduate of Magdalene College Cambridge. I studied Geography, Mathematics, Biology and English Literature at A Level as well as taking an Extended Project Qualification. I achieved 100% in several of my modules including Decision Mathematics, Victorian Literature, Biology practical work and my Geography AS paper. I am an open, friendly and approachable character with a genuine love of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored previously and lectured at New York University. I have given talks to school aged children and fellow students at the London Science Museum and Cambridge University Engineering Department. As a Guide leader I am used to working with children and young people. In addition to this I have been tutored myself so know what can be achieved with one-on-one teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a strong work ethic driven mainly by my love of assimilating knowledge purely for knowledge's sake. I hope to not only improve my tutees abilities in their respective subjects but encourage them to enjoy their learning and see the value of education. I believe that confidence is a major factor when approaching a new or a difficult topic. Making mistakes is a natural part of learning and just because you are struggling with a problem now doesn't mean that you will never be able to solve it. I have first hand experience of this. In my first AS Maths exam in January I got a C. But by June I was achieving A grades and never slipped below this again. I believe that it was tutoring that was the catalyst for my improvement. It gave me the confidence to ask questions but it also showed me that the rapid pace of classroom learning doesn't suit everyone. Tutoring should consolidate what is taught in schools and should only push children beyond their age range's ability if the child is comfortable with this and has a keen interest in the subject.

Personal Description:
I am a University student currently studying undergraduate Psychology at Staffordshire University.
I am reliable, friendly and very enthusiastic about teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored GCSE level and below students while studying for GCSE's as well as while studying for my A-Levels informally.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that students don`t all think the same way and what method of learning might work for one student may not work for all students. I try as much as I can to cater to individuals to ensure they get the most out of my sessions.
I believe that with the right teaching and motivation, students can gain appreciation for any subject and enjoy rather than just endure the learning process.

Personal Description:
As a qualified secondary English teacher, freelance educational resource writer and examiner for AQA and Cambridge (iGCSE), I am warm, friendly and approachable. I aim to build professional working relationships with both tutees and parents to enable the best outcome which ultimately should be progression. I particularly enjoy tutoring pupils for examinations as I feel my experience and knowledge allows me to give pupils the confidence to achieve their best and make significant progress. I am also a keen traveller, having recently travelled and volunteered in Asia with the International Humanity Foundation; something which I feel affirms my flexible and humanitarian personality.

Teaching Experience:

Qualified since 2007, I have over 5 years experience of teaching English at secondary level in both the state and private sector. In my last school, I was subject leader for the GCSE where my results were consistently high; my most successful year boasting 97% A*-C for English Language. Pupils were also particularly successful on the poetry examination, where over 95% of pupils taking the higher paper achieved a grade A or A*.

Both schools I have taught in have been high achieving schools; My first school was rated outstanding by Ofsted and my last school was recognised in the 2012 Parliamentary Yearbook as one of the Country's Centres of Excellence in Education. Thus, I have experience of teaching to a very high standard.

I have been tutoring for over 2 years and I currently tutor pupils between the ages of 8 and 16 and I would be happy to provide references from current tutees.

I tutor pupils with a wide range of agendas, from pupils sitting upcoming entrance examinations for grammar schools to GCSE pupils and pupils sitting the iGCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

I base tutoring sessions on my knowledge of the criteria for achieving the highest possible levels and grades, which often involves skill based work for both reading and writing. My aim is to stretch pupils and help them reach their potential. I pride myself on encouraging pupils to feel confident in their ability and skills and offer praise as often as I can. I am fond of using mnemonics which I have found to be extremely effective in helping pupils remember the key skills needed to address assessment objectives and foci. I am flexible in my approach, which means I can work with tutees and parents to tailor the work for the sessions, or I am happy to approach sessions using my professional experience as an English teacher. I am happy to set homework and always inform pupils and parents of progress being made. Ultimately, my approach is professional, honest and structured with a fundamental view of progression.
