Personal Description:
I have been described by some of my former students as bubbly, friendly and approachable and have been known to put even the most nervous and timid students at ease. I have a background in lecturing, tuition, childcare and special needs in a range of subjects, levels and settings. My personal interests include film, photography, television, music, art and literature which I am keen to employ as methods of learning and development with my students. I have 3 young children of my own and also work as a sales assistant. I also offer proof reading and copy writing services as well as a distance tuition service.

Teaching Experience:

Private Tutor 2008 - Present
GCSE, A Level & Adult

Drama Tutor: Glenveagh Special School, Belfast 2011

Lecturer in Sociology: Belfast Metropolitan College 2008 - 2009
A Level, Adults

Learning Development Assistant: Queens University Belfast 2008
Study Skills Tuition

Taughmonagh Primary School Speech and Language Unit:
Film and Visual Studies Tuition

I have also worked in a day nursery, a nursery school and as a childminder, and have provided proof reading services to students online, as well as admin and copy writing services to small businesses and self- employed individuals.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to tailor my tutoring approach to the specific individual or group and to enable students to simplify their approach to studying while balancing their workload with other commitments. I am aware that the standard classroom approach does not always suit everyone and I aim to find interesting ways in which to help the student grasp the subject matter. I am particularly interested in using media as a learning and development tool.

As a student, little came easy for me.

I learned the hard way.

Now, with over 20 years of teaching experience in a variety of institutions - from Oxbridge entrance to comprehensives on 'Special Measures' - I am young enough to remember my struggles and old enough to know better.

I know how to bridge that gap for my tutees.

Teaching Experience:

This is my sixth year as a full-time tutor, but I was a secondary school teacher for 19 years before that.

I have experienced many types of academic performance from high-performing grammar schools to comprehensives on 'special measures'. I have held a variety of positions of responsibility within schools, particularly in the pastoral system such as Head of Year. I have been a grade-A examiner for AQA GCSE Geography.

During the last five years of 11 Plus entrance, including September 2014, 15 out of my 25 students have passed. I have also successfully helped one parent and child through the appeals procedure for grammar selection. Furthermore, a 12 Plus tutee in 2011 was the only girl to pass and get a place at South Wilts. Both 12+ and 13+ tutees I have taught have passed their exams.

I have taught numerous syllabi: in the last five years I have tutored AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC at A level Geography. Indeed, I taught the whole of the A2 Edexcel Geogaphy syllabus online to one a tutee in Moscow: he has now gained a place at Aston University. I have mainly tutored the AQA and Edexcel syllabi for GCSE Maths. It would be fair to say that the overwhelming majority of my A level tutees experience significant gains and regularly obtain A or B grades.

At the moment (October 2014) I have 21 tutees in total: this includes 3 home-school tutees doing a variety of subjects, one A-level English tutee and one A level Geography tutee, two GCSE English tutees, one Key Stage 3 Maths tutee, three Key Stage 3 English tutees, one 12 Plus tutee, five Primary Maths tutees and one Primary School Maths and English tutee, three GCSE Maths tutees, one KS5 numeracy tutee and, finally, three GCSE Geography tutees. I would say on average, across the year, I would have between 15 and 20 tutees each week. Nearer exam time, this can creep up to 25.

Tutoring Approach:

One size does not fit all . . .

Tutoring and learning should be natural and intuitive so that tutees can 'fly' by themselves.

To make the most of tuition, a tutee must be 'on-board'. If it's their idea - even better. A tutee that is in-charge of their own learning makes an excellent pupil.

As a tutor, I decide what is right for the tutee - not an institution. Parents often want someone who is familiar with the education system but independent enough to give an honest assessment. My main concern is the welfare of the tutee - not just their academic progress - nor the reputation of some teacher or institution. If something is not right for a tutee, no matter how forceful a parent might be or how much money I might lose, I simply will not do it. Each year there are a handful of tutees I turn away because of this.

In the first session I will try to identify what it is the tutee needs, and you may wish to quiz me in more detail. I will need access to school reports and examples of the tutee's work. Through discussion with my tutee and parental input it should become clear the reason for the tutoring.

From this 'snag' list, I will design a bespoke program to meet the educational needs of the tutee. It is flexible and, unlike a classroom situation, I can respond immediately to the needs of the tutee.

Homework will always be set, depending upon the demands placed upon the tutee by the normal school week. The tutee will be far more involved with learning than in a normal school class where they can 'hide', so prospective tutees need to expect plenty of chat and discussion, reviewing work and giving feedback.

For learning to be 'on the wing', to be natural and instinctive, tutees need to work hard without feeling the burden. This can only happen through enjoyment and a lot of laughter. That's my part: helping tutees to work really hard without realising it.

If at any point I feel unable to help, I won't just prolong tuition, or if our work has met its aims then I will call a halt. The point of tuition is not to need me anymore, so they can 'fly' all by themselves.

I offer two types of 'remote' tuition options at the moment:

i/ ONLINE FACE-TO-FACE TUITION: face-to-face on Skype is very good in dealing with syllabus issues and reinforcing and filling in the holes the class teachers leave behind. Face-to-face tuition lends itself well to visual resources such as diagrams, maps and pictures. It is primarily discussion-based and the tutee needs to take notes as we go along. I regularly send tutees files to prepare them for the lesson and to discuss in the lesson. If a tutee comes to face-to-face tuition and expects to be spoon-fed or entertained, it just won't work. Extra work can be set to test their written understanding. Usually, it is enough to go through topics the student struggles with. Once they 'click' with the topic/issue, we move onto other areas. Payment for this type of tuition is a flat fee each week to cover lesson preparation and the lesson itself. The marking of substantial pieces of work outside of lesson time such as essays will incur a modest marking fee.

ii/ CORRESPONDENCE-STYLE WITH UNLIMITED EMAIL SUPPORT: work is set through powerpoints, pdf files and word documents for the student to do on their own in their own time. This should keep the tutee occupied for between 1-3 hours each week, unless more is required. It is then returned to me within the week. I mark it and provide feedback in the form of an audio file (up to 30 mins), talking them through the various issues. Any amounts of email conversations to help the student with this particular piece of work are allowed, after feedback has been given. This is very much an ongoing and open-ended commitment, once work has been set and feedback given, and the student is totally free to contact me with any issues. As a result, the payment structure is open-ended and depends on the amount of time used to prepare resources, mark and give audio feedback. This is added up at the end of each week, and the client is then billed. Follow-up emails and support are not timed but are considered as a 'free' part. Generally, this time will be from about 45-90 mins per week. I keep a track of the time minute to minute and endeavour to keep the time used as short as possible while setting about 1-3 hours of work. This is very much a trust system of working. I tailor the work individually to suit the student as opposed to an ordinary correspondence course that just covers syllabus content.

Please be aware that I do charge for travelling over 30 miles (roundtrip: 15 miles each way):
30-40 mile roundtrip - 5
41-50 mile roundtrip - 10
51-60 mile roundtrip - 15
61-70 mile roundtrip - 20

Personal Description:
Hi. I am a qualified secondary teacher and I specialise in English and Maths 1-2-1 tuition, from primary (KS1 and KS2) to GCSE level (KS3 and KS4) My teaching degree was completed successfully at Manchester Metropolitan University which is an 'outstanding' teacher training course provider who received a 'Grade 1' by Ofsted in 2010. I am quite flexible with regards to the times I can offer for the private tuition sessions. I am currently contracted to work in schools through Kirklees doing 1-2-1 tuition with children from Years 7-11.

I am a fully qualified teacher and hold PGCE & QTS (qualified teacher status) I am also a registered member of the GTC (general teaching council) and a member of ATL 'The Association of Teachers and Lecturers' and also the 'NASUWT'

Teaching Experience:

I have had an extensive range of experience teaching across many different schools in West Yorkshire. I have taught at KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 levels in schools around West Yorkshire. I have also worked with special needs (SEN) children in schools across the Kirklees area. The work was very rewarding and this made me not only work harder but also allowed me to enjoy the work I was doing, this really motivated me in all aspects of my teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

As a teacher, I feel that any child who is lacking academically in their general work or their confidence needs to have some sort of additional help to equip them with the knowledge and skills which will be essential for them to use in the future. One to one tuition will allow your child to develop their understanding in areas of Maths and English which they might have found difficult to understand in school. It will also allow myself to help your child in specific areas of Maths or English which they don't feel confident with. I will try my utmost best to gather information about your child prior to them starting the tuition sessions such as gathering their reports from school and also their test and exam grades to help me identify their areas of weakness.

Personal Description:
Does your child struggle with maths or English? Are they falling behind at school?
Do they need a confidence boost?
Maybe they need preparation for SATs or 11+?

I specialise in helping children who are struggling, and over the past few years have achieved some excellent results!

My qualifications are as follows:
BEd Primary Qualified Teacher Status (subject specialism English) (2003)

British Dyslexia Association and Unicorn Maths- `Dyscalculia Plus` (2012)

I have a Masters in Education, completed this year. The modules I studied are as follows:
`Educational enquiry` (research in education) (2013)
`Investigating language in action`(supporting learners of English) (2012)
`Difficulties in literacy development` (specifically dyslexia) (2008)

BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies (Learning and development 0-8 years) (1999)

9 GCSE`s all A-C:
Child Development, English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, French, History, Religious Education, Science. (1997)

Teaching Experience:

My specialist subject is English and Special Educational Needs. I have attended courses on suitable methods to support dyslexic students, and recently completed a course with the British Dyslexia Association on how to assess and teach children with dyscalculia.

I taught in an inner city school for 8 years. Here, I gained experience with children aged 3-11, from different backgrounds and cultures, and with a wide variety of needs.
I have also worked with many children to overcome confidence and self esteem issues, resulting in much better performance in class.

As a tutor, I am currently working with children who have a range of needs. These include:
dyslexia
dyspraxia
dyscalculia (difficulty with maths)
self esteem or confidence issues
children who struggle at school due to emotional or behavioural problems
children who have missed school due to illness or special needs
I am also working with a number of children who are home schooled.

Over the past 3 years tutoring full time, my students have made excellent progress in terms of confidence, catching up with age-related expectations and achieving level 4 or 5 in Year Six SATs.

As well as teaching, I have worked in a variety of settings as a nursery nurse and nanny. I have been able to build excellent relationships with parents and children and am still in touch with families that I have worked with over the years.
In addition to face-to-face tuition, I have taught online, up to university level, supporting teacher training students with their studies and lesson planning.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very calm, patient and friendly approach to teaching. A child who is not relaxed and confident simply will not reach their full potential. I build excellent relationships with students, and they look forward to my lessons.
I like to vary my teaching sessions (depending on age) using, for example, direct teaching, problem solving, quizzes, practical `hands-on` activities, time for the child to ask questions. Children can find it hard to sit at a desk for an hour or more, so I find that lots of short activities hold their interest and make them much more enthusiastic about learning.
I like to use technology in my teaching as there are some fantastic resources available that can really enhance learning. Also, using computers and other technological devices can really help get a child`s attention and make learning more fun!

Please contact me if you think I am the tutor you have been looking for.

Personal Description:
I am 23 and a qualified teacher, currently an NQT and studied English Literature at University. I can cater for all needs and abilities, as I can in the classroom.

I have always wanted to be a teacher and this has been demonstrated through my choice of work experience in year ten. I grew up with a passion for education and learning. I was educated at a state school and being of the new young generation I can relate to all of the trials and tribulations endured by youngsters having either experienced them myself or knowing someone who has. I can use my personal experiences to help and guide the students as well as empathise.

Teaching Experience:

I have just completed my PGCE (Post-Graduate Certificate in Education) at Swansea Metropolitan University and have a full-time English teaching job in Bridgend. I have had experience in both a band 5 Valley School and a Band 4 school in Bridgend, catering for all abilities.

In year 10 I had my work experience at a local primary school. I assisted the teacher during the lessons and helped them complete their work.
The children I worked with had various levels of ability so the teacher and I had to cater for the children who were learning both slower and faster than the others. I kept patient whilst working with the children and I adapted my approach so that they could understand me. I helped to organise the activities with the teacher before the lesson and helped the children to complete and understand the tasks. I supervised the children and helped them to play carefully and safely during the lunch breaks by being around them and ensuring they were behaving. These skills meant that I gained respect from the children and they trusted me to help and look after them during my work experience. From developing these key leadership skills at such a young age I was able to demonstrate them adequately through my years of working in retail, working my way up from a sales advisor to a supervisor within six months.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style would be firm but fair.
I would help them with certain aspects of their course which they were struggling with and depending on their age I would range with help in essay writing, essay style and approaches to writing essays. I would help guide them through the reading process and close analytical reading, as well as guiding them through the essay writing process.
I would be able to expand their knowledge of the books on the course and help them complete coursework.
I am clearly a strong English student as I have always achieved high grades at school and have continued to study to degree level.
I would be able to produce results to the highest of their capability and extend their knowledge of English.

Personal Description:
Tahmina is a confident and outgoing person with a positive personality. A grammar school- educated graduate and Mathematics teacher based in Central London.

She is a patient and supportive tutor with several years experience teaching pupils in a mainstream classroom setting, in small groups and on a one-to-one level. Tahmna is very familiar with the GCSE and 11+ structures and is confident in preparing pupils for these examinations.

She has high expectations of all her pupils and strongly believes that aiming high is the first step to academic success. Tahmina provides her students with self-confidence and motivation within her lessons. Her passion for her specialist subject and light hearted approach has worked well for many of her previous pupils where their results have exceeded their predicted grades in GCSE mathematics achieving A*-B grades. She has had very high pass rates with 90% of her 11+ students securing their place in Grammar schools.

Teaching Experience:

Holding a bachelor honours degree in Mathematics and Education as well as a qualified teacher status, her experience ranges from Key stage 2 to 4. She has taught both in primary and secondary schools across Sussex and Kent as well as tuition centres including 'Extra Tuition Centre' and 'Tuitions for you' based in North West Kent.

Tahmina has been working as a Secondary Maths Teacher in an oversubscribed academy in London. She has recently been through an OFSTED inspection under the new framework (2012) and has been graded overall as a "good" teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

In the initial lesson, Tahmina assesses her student's current level and aims to build upon their current knowledge and understanding. She works with pupils on an individual basis and personalises lessons to cater for their learning needs.

Tahmina uses engaging and innovative methods to teach difficult concepts in mathematics. Using ICT is essential, PowerPoint's, e-learning such as mymaths and mathswatch are all used to engage learners and consolidate their learning.
She often addresses difficult areas of the mathematics curriculum by making links to real life contexts and personal interests. For example teaching negative numbers links are made to shopping and overdrafts to engage pupils to something they would want to buy themselves. This has been proven to be an effective method within classrooms in outstanding schools and is therefore replicated within a one-to-one scenario.

"An inspiring and enthusiastic tutor, who is committed to teaching and helping your child achieve their full potential"

Personal Description:
I am a 41 yr old graduate of Oxford University, where I studied French and German, and a postgraduate of the University of Manchester, where I obtained a Masters and Doctorate in English. I'm currently an Associate Tutor at the Universities of Salford and Edge Hill. I live in West Yorkshire, but can also cover South Lancs and Manchester.

Teaching Experience:

I'm really enjoying teaching some individual pupils at GCSE and A-level at the moment and now have the time to take on some more.

I have been teaching English in Higher Education since 2004. During this time I also taught an A-level student English on an individual basis, as extra preparation for Oxbridge entry - the student gained a place at Oxford. I've also taught two summer schools for visiting American students at the University of Manchester, and a first year university student privately last year.

I have experience with AQA syllabuses in French GCSE and English (Literature) GCSE and A-level (Gothic and Pastoral), and also OCR French.

I also worked for some years in the retail/hospitality sector, where I was an induction trainer, and had some involvement with NVQ assessment.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the most important thing in teaching is to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where students are not afraid to ask any questions. I like to avoid overt formality, and make the teaching as enjoyable as possible. I'm very encouraging and positive, but within this will always offer constructive criticism when it's needed. I make sure sessions end with clear goals about what students need to do to improve - clear and achieveable goals, that I will check your progress with. I enjoy teaching a great deal, and will push you to achieve your very best.

For under 16s, I have a programme for teaching English, French, and German. This includes conversation, grammar, composition, and working with literature suited to the pupil's age range. It's flexible and pitched to any age and ability between 11 and 16.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of world-class university King's College London with a BA English Language and Communication degree, I previously attended Bolton School Girls' Division - a leading independent day school.

Throughout my education I have achieved top grades and have often been praised for my high attainment. Having been moved up a year I am a year ahead of my schooling, and thus started university aged 17.

I also sat Year 6 Key Stage 2 SATs at the same time as my Year 2 Key Stage 1 SATs when I was 7 years old, achieving three Level 4s (the average grade expected of an 11 year old). I have since gained outstanding GCSE results (8 A*s and 3 As) and A Level results (3 A*s) which demonstrates my academic aptitude and therefore my ability to tutor to a high standard.

I am passionate to share my knowledge with others and take great pride in providing interesting, interactive and thorough lessons for my tutees.

From my previous tutoring I am very familiar with the national curriculum for all levels and am fully trained and CRB checked to work with younger pupils.

I have been awarded several prizes for my passion and dedication to tutoring including a Certificate in Leading Educational Impact, Certificate in Leading Community Development, KCL Half-Laurel, KCL Silver Crown and Team Up Rising Leaders Award.

Teaching Experience:

Primary
I have previously worked with primary school children from ages 4 - 6 helping them with reading, writing and storytelling.

KS3
I have tutored several KS3 pupils ages 11-13 in the past in both English and Mathematics.

GCSE & A Level
I have spent the past year volunteering tutoring English to GCSE pupils and English Literature/exam technique to A-Level pupils, in deprived areas of London through the "TeamUp" scheme.

I have returned to my secondary school on several occasions running workshops for Year 11 and Year 13 students on several aspects of English so I am well practiced at working with students of all ages.

Tutoring Approach:

As mentioned above my approach to tutoring focuses on interesting, interactive and thorough lessons.

I am highly responsive to a tutees preferences and needs.

I strive to seek out interesting teaching materials that are relevant to students, for example I have been praised on several occasions by my current year ten students for bringing in newspaper articles about the Olympics and charity pamphlets when we were working on "writing to inform" and "writing to persuade" as these were topics they were interested in.

Personal Description:
I graduated with a B.A (Hons) in Architecture from the University of Manchester and am currently living in Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex. Since graduating, I have worked in the Architecture industry, and have recently completed an internship as a communications assistant within a media and communications charity.

My range of experiences have sparked an interest in tutoring, wherein I have acquired the necessary professionalism and knowledge to thrive in this role.

Teaching Experience:

I am new to tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I am organised, friendly, patient and results orientated. During my GCSEs and A levels, I established valuable study techniques which helped me to become engrossed in the curriculum. This attention to detail was carried through into my study practice during university.

I hope to share my knowledge and learning methods with students to help them unlock their potential. I have a passion for knowledge and education, and will ensure that the students learning experience is both effective and enjoyable.

Personal Description:
I am a well qualified and experienced teacher in Maths, English Language & Science. I have taught in various secondary schools for well over 14 years and have also offered one to one tuition in to many pupils in Primary & Secondary schools.

I possess a degree in education and a teacher training certifiate (PGCE) in Maths & ICT.I have successfully helped pupils to gain exceptional results in their subject areas. I am also a National Education award winner.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my experience in education, both studying and teaching, I have realised that not all students are given sufficient attention from the teacher.

This is a problem inherent within the education system. Let me explain. The average school-class consists of approximately 25 students and the average teacher works under tremendous pressures. These include the demands of completing the syllabus, time restraints and teaching students of mixed abilities. For these reasons, it is usually the case that teachers are unable to attend to the needs of each individual at all times.

As a result, it is very likely that some students fail to understand key concepts or even lose confidence in themselves and in the subject. Now I have launched my own personal tutoring service: Private Tuition UK
which is tailored specifically to each pupils requirements.

Personal Description:
I am a 19 year old student currently on a gap year before commencing studies once again at New York University in August,2014. After having completed my International Baccalaureate diploma at Marlborough College, I applied to NYU to read a double bachelors degree in History and Global Liberal Studies ( a combination of philosophy, politics and a foreign language of my choice). Tutoring has always greatly intrigued as I myself have had first experiences of how a tutor can either help oneself to flourish or how their methods can inadvertently stunt your academic growth. I have a passion for children and learning and I believe that tutoring should be an activity that both the tutee and tutor can mutually benefit, learn and grow from. I am a very driven individual who faces every challenge with a vibrantly positive approach and I try my best to put 100 percent into all that I do.

Teaching Experience:

During the summer of 2012 I worked as an assistant teacher at Constant Spring Primary all age school. This school is located in Kingston, Jamaica. During the few months that worked as a TA, I particularly dealt with children who had learning difficulties and challenges, teaching them English Language and Literature, Spanish and Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to think of my approach to Tutoring as a rather Hollistic one. I believe that my role as a tutor should not only be focused on building the tutee academically but also helping them to flourish as a person in their confidence and ambition. I like to have a hands on approach and work with my tutees each step of the way to ensure that they are maximising on their time with me and that a clear set of goals are set from the beginning to enable them to fulfil their true potential.
