Teaching Experience:

I have 14 years experience of teaching MFL at high school level and also to adults.
I teach Spanish, Portuguese, French and Latin. I taught at the University of California Santa Barbara as a Lecturer before I moved to UK, where my husband is from. I also worked for the Extremadura Government in Spain as a teacher and as a translator. I am now teaching in London, Spanish, French and Portuguese syllabuses and I have been involved in intensive exam preparation for students of GCSE and A levels. I also revise plans and advise PGCE students in Spanish and Portuguese.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to think of myself as a highly motivated and dedicated teacher of MFL that fosters high student self-expectation. This can be done by building commitment to quality education and developing strong bonds with students, parents and Faculty. For example, I believe in employing a variety of classroom techniques to raise achievement: I have recently developed a bank of resources for Spanish and French teaching to accommodate different learning styles. Aside from good teaching, assessing students' progress is important. For example target setting and monitoring is an important method in ensuring that students reach their potential. I regularly undertake work for Tavistock tutors, as well as taking on my own clients privately. My experience ranges from 11+ and 13+ prep to undergraduate Organic Chemistry tuition. MEDICINE ENTRANCE COACHING FROM 2015
A large aspect of my role as a student ambassador for St George's University is advising students on how best to approach the medicine application process. This has included leading mock interviews giving individual feedback to over 30 international students, help writing personal statements and advice on getting the best work experience placements.

Tutoring Approach:

From my own experiences, I understand that school tuition can struggle to tap in to the different ways young people learn, which may mean that they do not reach their true potential. I adapt my teaching style depending on the individual tutee, and try and make the sessions as fun and interactive as possible. I encourage open discussion and focus on conceptual understanding of a subject above rote learning, as I feel this better prepares the tutee for further University education and work.

I currently work as a student ambassador at St George's University (I am reading graduate entry medicine). This role has given me contact with young people who have an interest in the sciences and healthcare, and I have enjoyed being able to teach subjects that I am truly passionate about. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to do this on a one-to-one basis and allows me to develop a relationship with a student over a longer period of time, and have a more lasting impact on their education.

Personal Description:
My work history is unwaveringly intertwined with education, teaching a range of subjects, in a range of different settings, with students of all ages and abilities. I have over 15 years experience, the majority of my work has been at secondary level, where my specialisms are English and English Literature, Film studies and Drama. However, I also have extensive experience in primary education where I have taught across the breadth of the curriculum.

My preoccupation with academia was nurtured at a competitive Grammar School, RGS Worcester, a top school with high expectations. I excelled in this environment, always achieving the best academic results. I went on to acquire a first class degree. I remain now, as I have always been, a high achiever.

I also work in the creative arts, as actor, tutor and director, inspired by performance art in all its forms. My current artistic interests include revising classics, puppetry, theatre in non-traditional spaces, and working as a freelance drama consultant to help smaller scale theatre companies realise their artistic aims and consolidate their working practices.

Recreationally I enjoy martial arts, exercise and the outdoors. As an avid reader I am particularly drawn to epic literature and sprawling worlds, beguiling first person narratives, comparative religious and spiritual studies, psychology, philosophy and history.

Secondary Level Education:
- I worked for 6 years as a secondary school teacher, delivering Drama and English lessons, including GCSE and 'A' level, from year 7- year 13.
-I devised and delivered a formal curriculum to teach Year 9 Drama (in line with Key Stage Guidelines).
-Extensive experience in coursework, marking, moderation and exam preparation.
-On 2 separate occasions, following Ofsted observations, I was given an 'Outstanding' classification (the highest classification).
-Quantitative end of term reports always placed my classes amongst the highest in terms of achievement and student retention.
-I also assumed responsibility for cross-curricular teaching, for instance, devising lessons about The Industrial Revolution which spanned History, English, Art and Psychology.

'A' level Education:
-I taught for 6 years at 2 different Further Education Colleges. I taught English Literature, Drama and Film Studies 'A' level.
-Students were offered extra-curricular tutorials to help them achieve their desired results according to their own set of educational needs.
-I emboldened students for university entrance with interview techniques, UCAS procedures and university level preparation.
-The coursework I devised with students for their final A2 Drama and Theatre Studies was picked up as an exemplar of excellent practice, and is still used to this day by Edexcel examination board as a standard to which other schools should aim.

Primary:
-Following my successes at Secondary Education the Local Education Authority sought my services to teach in 'special-measures' primary schools across the West Midlands region.
-I devised a range of workshops, and delivered these to selected primary schools. These workshops raised literacy levels, written and oral communication. They were delivered to year 4, year 5 and year 6 students.
-My work with Redditch Borough Council as Literacy and Outreach Officer earned me an 'Outstanding personal Achievement Award'.
- I have worked as a Supply Teacher in numerous London Primary Schools, teaching all subjects, cross-curricular.

Adult Education:
-I've worked with young people trying to get back into education following exclusion, this involved working with charities like CentrePoint.
-I often work with adult learners re-taking their GCSE English.
-Postgraduate students have sought my help in the past, particularly International Students looking to improve the precision of their essays.

Complex Educational Needs:
-I am trained in Advanced Behaviour Management.
-I have experience working with SEN and PMLD students.

University Level:
-Delivering Theatre and Drama lectures, seminars and workshops to students at university level, including The University of Birmingham, University of Worcester, University of Bristol, and University of Warwick.

Other Achievements:
- Community arts and education provision. Following successful Arts Council grants I set up 2 new community arts and education groups in the West Midlands. The aim here was to build permanent organisations to provide access to education, through the arts, for all, regardless of prior educational achievement. These 2 organisations, both of which are still running to this day, are now self-sustaining businesses, now staffed by people who were once students of the organisation.

At first, my focus with a new student is to provide gentle provocations on different aspects of the subject matter- a process which allows me to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie, also allowing the student to start seeing the subject matter from varying perspectives, and to extend their range of problem-solving and communication strategies.

My approach always depends on the specific needs of the student, most commonly students ask for:
-Information building and comprehension
-Essay writing technique
-Filling in historical/ social/ political or cultural context to areas of study (particularly at 'A' level)
-Response to examination questions
-Improving literacy level, reading and comprehension, grammar (particularly at primary level)
-Extending and developing powers of expression
-Drawing links and developing argument
-Understanding what a question is asking
-The application of knowledge to argument

I pride myself, above all else, on my ability to engage my students. The subjects I teach I find instantly inspiring, and this love of the raw material is compounded by the fact that I genuinely care about the targets my students set for themselves. Each student is a project, and watching them improve over a programme of study is exceptionally gratifying.

You will find me a generous tutor, I am not a clock watcher, it doesn't matter, for instance, if a class runs over. I will work hard for you between lessons, marking, researching, and developing new lessons and academic exercises. I am always well prepared, focused upon specific needs of student, and always an authority on what I'm teaching.

My tutoring style is tempered by profound understanding and experience of examination board and national curriculum requirements. Moreover, my many years working as an educator entailed the need to develop a flexible range of teaching strategies correspondent to the varying learning preferences of my students.

Let me introduce myself, I've been an Enrichment Teaching now for over 20 years, my area of teaching has been dedicated to the younger generation between 3-12 year-olds, offering unique individual study support from: homework projects, enrichment programs, to the school curriculum.

I originally set up my first Pre-school Enrichment Centre in 2002, which I'm proud to say, is still running 15 years later in North London, England. I'm also part-owner of an Enrichment Centre in Boca Raton, Florida.

Over the years I've experienced many different formats in teaching. Personally, I believe a 3-dimensional method offers more growth, as it provides children with the opportunity to learn through styles that best suits their individual needs and helps build confidence and success.

I am an Oxford University graduate (BA in Economics and Management) with part-time tutoring experience since leaving university in 2012. Before university, I attended Kendrick Girls Grammar School where I received three A grade A-Levels in Maths, Economics and Geography.

My teaching focuses on Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning for entrance exams (Kendrick, Reading Boys, 11+) and Maths up to GCSE.
