Personal Description:
I graduated from the LSE in 2007, and am currently a Government energy policy advisor after previously working for DFID and the Foreign Office.

Teaching Experience:

Prior to starting work provided tutoring and counselling support to fellow university students while at LSE.

I have been tutoring A-level and GCSE since 2008 and have an extensive knowledge of the current syllabi.

Tutoring Approach:

Predominantly flexible. Everyone has a method of learning that works best for them; whether that be a strict focus upon the curriculum from their particular exam board or institution, or a wider broadening of the subject through discussion.

Personal Description:
Recently returned to the UK to live near my family after teaching abroad for many years. I have 2 teenagers who no longer need my constant attention. I enjoy speaking other languages and love teaching, especially one to one teaching, where I can focus all my attention on the individual.

Teaching Experience:

1976-1987 EFL teaching in the UK and abroad. 6th form, secondary and adult. Also some ESL and home teaching.

1988- 2008. Primary teaching 3-12 year olds. I am trained in Early Years teaching. For 9 years I was the English Language Support coordinator in a large international school. My responsibilities included assessing children's needs, planning and teaching English as an additional language throughout the Infant and Junior school, improving reading skills and helping train other staff in the above. I have regularly tutored individuals and small groups of children after school.
I have recently completed a course in "Big Writing" with Ros Wilson of Andrell Education, focusing on improving writing skills from KS1 to KS3

2009- present. Nursery teacher and part time Modern languages/ Supply teacher in KS2

Tutoring Approach:

Each person's needs are different and my first job is to develop a trusting relationship so that I can quickly assess the priorities. Building confidence in prior knowledge comes next. It's important to pace the lesson so that there is just enough pressure but no stress. I like to work on all 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) whatever the goal of the class, and to that end use a variety of resources; books, cards, games, music, computer. I am a very good listener and have unlimited patience. I constantly make students aware of the progress they are making which builds confidence and speeds up learning. I set very high but reachable standards.

Personal Description:
I am 25 years old and have recently graduated with a First Class Honours degree in a Primary Education (with QTS - Qualified Teacher Status) from the Manchester Metropolitan University. Prior to this I spent two years studying French and Spanish at the University of Manchester, before deciding to withdraw from my course in order to focus on my main passion, education. My desire is to use up-to-date strategies observed at university and in school, as well as in current educational research, to help children improve their knowledge, understanding and skills to perform more confidently in school.

I recently received a full DBS enhanced disclosure, and can provide a copy upon request, along with evidence of my completed degree and successful completion of the QTS Skills Tests in Mathematics and English.

Teaching Experience:

I spent four years developing my skills as a classroom teacher during my studies, in various classroom settings at several primary schools across the north west and in the United States. My time in school has varied from KS2 settings to Early Years and the Foundation Stage, working with small groups of children, on a one-to-one basis, and leading full class sessions that were planned and assessed independently. The majority of my training took place in Year 5 classrooms, working with children aged around 9-10. I developed two areas of specialism at university: International Perspectives, and Children's Literature and Language (literacy). During the time spent in one of my schools, I was working with dyslexic children, developing reading and spelling skills on a one-to-one basis, which included the use of ICT materials.

I have also worked with children as a summer camp counsellor in the US for the past seven years, working with boys aged from 5 to 13 years old. Whilst this work is not of an educational manner, the professionalism and skills I have acquired from the role are similarly placed to those required of an educator. My duties have been eclectic, from the basic care and nurturing of the children, to the coaching of sports games, and even practising management and organisational skills in my more recent position as a Division Assistant.

Tutoring Approach:

Whilst I understand that the purpose of tutoring is to enrich the learner's knowledge and improve their ability in a given subject, I believe in taking a more diagnostic approach, finding and tackling the specific problems of the individual learner. This I feel will help to boost their confidence in the subject, which will hopefully lead to better enjoyment and success in the school environment. Furthermore, addressing gaps in the student's knowledge is much more inherent to future success if discovered and filled earlier in the student's educational career. I also believe in recording evidence of progress - which certainly requires practice - and find the use of regular "quizzes" and "challenges" useful in allowing the learner to see their progress, as well as assigning independent homework tasks to maintain progress between sessions. This also allows the learner to reflect and manage a plan of action for him/herself, deciding which areas to focus on next and to set their own achievable targets and learning goals.

* Pricing by subject is standard across all so that individual lessons can be tailored to cover more than one subject area in the same hour. Reading & Writing Skills and English can be combined to work on a variety of basic skills, including spelling and grammar. Similarly, a variety of Study Skills can be introduced to sessions that have a Maths focus. Sessions that require a combination of Maths and English can equally be arranged. Please make contact to discuss further any specific requirements.

Personal Description:
Having graduated from university with a first class degree reading English, I am passionate about books and literature. I received 79% for my dissertation, where 80% is deemed worthy of academic publication and can provide a reference from my tutor to support this. I am a focused, determined, enthusiastic and willing individual with an aim to help students and adults engage and understand literature and the issues surrounding it.

I am currently employed as an Instructional Designer, building e-learning courses for schools, businesses and individuals. Due to this, I am more than able to teach people how to use Microsoft Office products, having lead and developed an approved ECDL course, which was provided to schools and businesses. The ECDL course consists of basic training on how to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access, alongside Outlook and the Internet.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a number of individuals using UK Tutors, from Primary level to Masters. In the summer of 2008, I spent nine weeks working with children and adults at a special needs camp in America. This experience was extremely rewarding and taught me the importance of patience and communication. I have recently returned from travelling where I taught at an underprivileged school in Cambodia.

Tutoring Approach:

Studying English Literature allows you to interpret a text in a number of different ways. Therefore my approach to tutoring will be tailored to the individual and their attitude and responsiveness to literature. I am patient and willing to explain things using a variety of different methods to ensure the student has a full understanding of the topic.

Personal Description:
Private Tuition has evolved into my passion and will increasingly become my sole occupation.

Because of the success rate and personal enjoyment that I obtain from private tuition, I have been able to reduce my full time post of English teaching, and I now enjoy working part time. Because of this, I am very flexible with working hours and can usually fit around the days and times that you require.

I am trust worthy, honest and passionate about my job. I know that I possess a skill in teaching English to an incredibly high standard, and I enjoy making a difference to young people's lives.

I am a family man, with a wonderful son and another on the way! Because of the pivotal part that my family play in my life, it has enhanced my understanding of just what an important job it is that I do for other families, when they look to ensure that their children have the best start to life. I therefore take this role incredibly seriously, and do everything to ensure that success is gained.

Teaching Experience:

Perhaps the most important factor that any parent should be interested in is not the experience of the teacher, but how good they are now, and how good they will be for their child. The most prominent factor that will indicate this is the rating that a teacher is given. Currently, I consistently achieve a classification of 'outstanding', which is the most sought after rating that a teacher can aim for.

I have held the post of Head of English at my current school, and I have led a team of exceptional English teachers. Having held other management positions in other schools as well, with management focus on both key Stage 3 and 4, I have built up a wealth of experience and knowledge that I can now put to good use within the sphere of personal tuition.

I am also an experienced examiner, having marked for a leading exam body for five years now. This has helped me enormously to build up a very clear understanding of what exam boards require from students.

Last year's results saw a continuation of my fine record of exam success, where my class achieved 100% A-C in their GCSE examinations. My current year 11 class are predicted to have 5 A*'s, 10 A grades and fifteen B grades. This will be the finest set of English class results in the school's history.

I have built up tremendously successful working relationship with my clients, and parents who I currently work for, and worked for, have happily created testimonials for me which I would be able to provide for your perusal upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

My largest concern for my students is to make sure that their confidence is built up by becoming pro-active and independent learners. All too often tutors 'spoon-feed' their students, leading them to a false sense of security in their skills, which therefore leads to poor performance in examinations.

Any fruitful approach to tutoring must ensure that the assessment objectives are catered for in tutoring. Every exam board and every exam has certain assessment objectives that must be met if students are to be successful. As engaging and as fun as I try to make my sessions, I am well aware of the crucial need to fundamentally ensure that these assessment objectives are covered.

Personal Description:
I have a degree in English Literature from the University of East Anglia where I also studied Creative Writing.

I am a freelance writer, contributing articles on literature for The Guardian, have a fortnightly series on Guardian On-Line, and regularly review books for Time Out.

I am currently writing my debut novel.

Teaching Experience:

Informal coaching of friends' children. This something I have greatly enjoyed and has proved to be a great success. I am now keen to develop this on a more professional basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe literature is best taught with enthusiasm, thereby making it accessable and less intimidating. Once a basic understanding of the work has been achieved it is easier to explore the more complex themes such as character, imagery, dramatic arc, etc.

Personal Description:
My name is Mikayla and I have been teaching for 3 years now in primary schools. I had year 5 for 2 years and year 3 for 1 year and am currently a PPA teacher teaching Reception to year 6.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have plentiful amounts of experience working with children and young people. In the past I have worked as a nanny and childminder.

Teaching Experience:

I have a breadth of teaching experience having taught in a variety of different primary and secondary schools across London, Kent and East Sussex.

In 2010, I undertook international placements and have experience working with a variety of different pupils in varied settings including primary schools, international middle schools, pupil referral units and centres which cater for children with special educational needs.

I have references and a current CRB check which you are more than welcome to have a copy of.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach in teaching varies according to the young person I am tutoring. I believe in an individual support programme which is catered around the needs of the individual.

All children and young people learn in different ways, some preferring practise, others preferring more practical demonstrations. Much of my tutoring will be through encouraging the child to think about the subject from different perspectives. Whilst teaching cannot avoid scenario's where children will have to listen - I try to ensure that activities are selected which carefully match the needs of the tutee.

I believe the best results are achieved when you know the child and their interests; once this professional relationship has been established, future sessions can be planned for considering the child or young persons interests.

For example, one of the children I tutor needed support in his writing, his parents were concerned with his understanding of different texts (fiction, non-fiction, reports etc). It is common for boys to be unenthused by writing so I found out that his passion was in sports and football (surprise surprise!) It wasn't long before this young lad was looking through information texts about football and reading newspaper articles about his favourite football team. This provided the perfect opportunity to discuss which components of the text provided what information; this was then linked to the features of reports, recounts, information texts etc.

Personal Description:
Hello, I live in Sunderland. I have a B A (Hons) degree and a Certificate in Education specialising in Maths and English and I have also attended relevant courses (for example in Dyslexia Awareness) and have a Counselling certificate.

Teaching Experience:

I have had approximately 20 years experience of teaching English, Maths and I C T and this has included helping pupils to prepare for the SATs tests. I have worked with children and adults on a one to one basis and in groups and fully understand the needs of both.

I have had extensive experience teaching in schools and am therefore familiar with the requirements of the national curriculum key stages 1,2 3 and 4.

I also have a vast array of resources and past exam papers and can also create resources that are tailor made for a specific pupil.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy working creatively and will tailor learning to the particular interests of the pupil if necessary as I feel that this makes the work more interesting and meaningful for them. I have established excellent relationships with pupils in the past and have a sensitive, caring and thoughtful approach.

In the first session I carry out an assessment in order to get an idea of the needs of the pupil and use this as a trial session. Pupils don't have to continue unless they are happy with everything.

Personal Description:
I am a well-educated graduate who has previously tutored Flute, Mathematics and Science.

I have also previously supported disabled students with their studies - so please do not hesitate to contact me if this is causing you worry.

Due to the need to get to know a student and their requirements, I do not charge for the first hour of my time - although this is for 'fact-finding' and not a tuition session as such.

If this is your first time hiring a private tutor and you would like more information, or have any other questions please send me a message through this service and I will happily respond by email, usually within 2-3 days.

Teaching Experience:

I have over a decade's experience teaching all subjects at primary level in addition to Mathematics and Sciences to A-Level.

I also have previous experience teaching mathematics and science from early years (5yrs old) to Secondary age and beyond including tutoring for both GCSE and A-Level examinations.

I am also first-aid trained by Wallace Cameron (First Aid at Work) and have a post-graduate leadership qualification.

Tutoring Approach:

I work under the assumption that all children and adults have the ability to succeed, and have high expectations of them. Having said this I am fully aware that a great many people have difficulty with some subjects, especially mathematics. I aim to remove the fear or maths, and instill understanding rather than teaching by rote. If you are unsure as to what your child/children would benefit from learning I am quite happy to assess them against the National Curriculum and dependent on the total number of hours you wish to book, I do not normally charge for this.

Please note that although parents are always quite welcome to stay for any session, this is not always productive as it can make some children nervous - although for flute tuition it is recommended that a parent/guardian stay for the first lesson, as this lesson includes teaching a child how to stand with the instrument, if the parent is aware of the correct position they can help their child at home and greatly speed learning. If a lesson is occurring at my home I do of course have tea/coffee facilities and somewhere you can wait for your children!

I am willing to travel to your home for lessons if this is easier for you, although an extra charge may apply to cover my time and expense although we will of course agree this prior to undertaking the session.

An hour long session to discuss your needs and talk about what you want to get out of private tutoring is offered free of charge to new students.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated with a BSc Environmental Science degree from the University of Birmingham achieving a 2.1 and I now work at an SEN school as a Teaching Assistant. My degree spans many disciplines ranging from Chemistry, Biology to Earth and Atmospheric sciences. Having been the Environmental Society's events manager (at my university) punctuality and time-keeping are of utmost importance and I will always be punctual when attending a tutee's place of residence to teach. Also, my university professors have commented on my approach to teaching and communicating with a range of audiences and indicated that I effectively adapt my teaching style to suit the listener.

Music is a hobby of mine and I have been educated to such a standard, I am able to teach music to others. I have been affiliated with several orchestras for over a decade and I play clarinet to grade 8, have an extensive knowledge of the flute and saxophone and I have also completed grade 8 theory (ABRSM). I have many years' experience with orchestras, conducting and teaching individuals from intonation to breathing technique.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously tutored a GCSE student before her final Geography exam where she was successful and I have experience with teaching young people as exemplified by my orchestral association. I also have helped teach my 6 other siblings who have not progressed on to university but have benefited in their own GCSEs with my knowledge and helpful advice.
I currently work as a Teaching Assistant and Laboratory Technician in a school with children who have Special Educational Needs and my expertise with teaching children will be utilised when tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always strive for excellence where I aim to bring out the best in my tutee. I will always draft up a plan for my tutee and the parent (if applicable) to see so we can monitor the progress over the session(s). Also, I will set mock exam questions of my own and of the exam board's composition after a set period to ensure progress is being made; if progress is negligible however, the salient features will be addressed again.

Academic Scholarship Awarded for 2010-2012

MSc. Criminology & Criminal Justice: Green Templeton College, University Oxford, 2012-2013

Teaching Experience:

Very experienced tutor; over 140 hours of tutoring experience from 11+ to university interview preparation. I am a top tier tutor at other agencies.

My last four tutees have attained the highest academic achievements:
One gained a place reading Land Economy at Cambridge University,
ALL three of my 13+ candidates received places at EVERY one of the schools they applied for. Two of these three even achieved academic scholarships.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe there are a number of key principles to tutoring.
1) RAPPORT - each tutee is different and it is important not to have a set formula when working with each student, or even for each class. In my opinion, there should be an emphasis on identifying the needs of the student and working towards these goals.
2) TARGETS - what are we working towards, how we can get there and isolating areas for improvement.
3) PRACTICE - regular testing, from past papers to 4) GENERAL EXAM TECHNIQUE.

Employing these four principles as a foundation, tutoring can be productive and enjoyable and I have a number of testimonies to illustrate this point. For instance, last summer, I worked with an A-Level Geography candidate who was able to get their grade from an E at AS Level to an overall high B grade for their entire A Level.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the London School of Economics in 2005 with a Bsc in Government and Politics (2:1). I then worked in the public sector, and later in supported housing, until 2013 when I began a PGCE in Primary Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. During the PGCE I worked in schools in Stockport and Tameside and was graded as Outstanding for my teaching practice. I completed the PGCE in June 2014 and will begin working as a Year 5 teacher at a school in Central Manchester in September.

I cover the whole curriculum with a particular focus on numeracy and literacy.

Teaching Experience:

During the PGCE I worked as a Year 5 teacher at a school in Stockport and as a Year 3 teacher in Tameside, for four months in both instances. I was awarded Outstanding for my teaching practice at the end of the PGCE. I also volunteered as a classroom assistant across key stages one and two prior to starting the PGCE. I will start working as a Year 5 teacher in September and have begun planning for the new National Curriculum which is effective from the new academic year.

Tutoring Approach:

I work with the tutee and parent to identify strengths and areas for improvement. I then develop a programme of study that is specific to the tutee's needs and which draws on the tutee's preferred style of learning. This can involve practical work, use of multimedia and investigations. I use informal assessment within sessions, and formal assessment afterwards, to record progress which can then be fed back to the tutee and parent. This assessment for learning, and assessment of learning, feeds into planning for future sessions and ensures that learning is personalised and relevant.

I strive to ensure that each tutee makes Outstanding progress within each session and I believe that an ongoing dialogue between myself, the tutee and the parent is fundamental to achieving this.
