Personal Description:
I am a mature professional, originally from Yorkshire. I hold a current enhanced CRB check and have spent most of my life working with children and young people. Most of my work has involved teaching pupils with special educational needs. At present I work part-time as a teacher in a hospital school with students 5-19yrs. I am highly qualified in teaching. In addition to a Bachelor of Education degree with honours, I hold an MA in the Psychology of Education, and diplomas in the teaching of reading (literacy and literature) and in Counselling. I also have a certificate in TEFL My work with children has not been restricted to teaching - I have worked as a Youth and Community worker, as a Counsellor and as a Child Protection Officer. My hobbies include drama, dance and choral singing.

Teaching Experience:

I trained as a teacher of infants but I have worked as a teacher of all ages and abilities. The majority of my teaching has involved pupils who experience a variety of special educational needs - social, emotional and behaviour difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, dyslexia, medical and mental health difficulties. I have also taught in secure accommodation. My teaching is effective - my work as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator in a large primary school in South London received a very good Ofsted report because the pupils with special educational needs made good progress - better progress than pupils in the school who did not have special needs! I am also on the Upper Pay Scale for teachers who have proved to government that their teaching interventions make a difference to pupil attainment.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a great deal of experience as a teacher of individuals and small groups in school and many years experience of private tutoring. My success comes from teaching each person, adult or child as a unique individual. I am popular with my students because I endeavour to make learning fun whilst retaining high expectations of effort and success, being patient, firm but fair. My fee reflects my knowledge, skill and experience. I integrate my tutoring with the tutees school syllabus and approach, increasing motivation with encouragement, challenge and the introduction of new knowledge in carefully paced steps. I begin with a thorough assessment of a student's strengths and weaknesses at my base where I have assessment materials for all ages. My fee is payable for this session when clients can examine my CRB check, qualifications and we can discuss mutual availability (times) and location.

Personal Description:
I have worked in education all my adult life, and ten years ago embarked upon a freelance career which has enabled me to focus on the kind of work I love, and to spend more time with my family, and do the things I most enjoy.

As an English graduate, my greatest passion is literature. I read a wide range of novels, drama and poetry. Authors I have recently enjoyed include Ian McEwan, Philip Pullman, Helen Dunmore, Kazuo Ishiguro... too many to mention!

I spend a lot of time writing and completed a six month course in novel writing with the Faber Academy on which I was delighted to be offered a place. I have had a number of articles and short stories published, and am working on my first novel.

Teaching Experience:

My first job was teaching English to young speakers of other languages during the summer vacations when I was at University - many years ago!

After I graduated in English I qualified as a teacher. My first full-time post was in a sixth-form college, where I taught English at a variety of levels to A-level and University entrance. After two further full-time teaching posts in a 14-19 secondary school and another sixth-form college, I moved into Adult and Community Education. During much of this time I also took on a number of part-time posts, tutoring English, English to Speakers of other Languages, Creative Writing and General Studies in a university extra-mural department, the Workers Education Association and in a number of prisons. I served on the English A-level set books committee of a national examinations board, and have worked as a part-time examiner.

For the past ten years I have been working as a freelance education consultant, trainer and writer. Much of my education consultancy and training work has involved facilitating and coaching young people and professionals in a variety of contexts and a range of subject areas such as communication skills, business writing skills and writing for the media.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer distance and online tutoring, using Skype, telephone and email. When I am working with students in this way I provide them with extensive and constructive feedback on their written work, enabling them to understand how they can improve their coursework and achieve the skills and confidence necessary to write succinct and relevant essays required for examinations. Many of the students whom I have supported have achieved top grades in GCSEs, A-levels and degrees.

I firmly believe that we only learn effectively when we find the learning experience interesting, relevant and meaningful. My first priority is to endeavour to ensure that my students are having that kind of experience! I also believe that learning should be enjoyable and fun. Sometimes, of course, learning is about studying things we are not so interested in just to get through an exam - a means to a hopefully more enjoyable end. In that case I help students to find the most effective ways for them to do just that - and hope that even this might be enjoyable too!

I do not believe that good teaching is about pouring knowledge into students, but is about drawing learning out of them and supporting them to teach themselves. We all have huge areas of strength, skill and wisdom, and I always try to enable students to recognise theirs and to develop them to their fullest potential.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT WRITE STUDENTS' ESSAYS FOR THEM, WHICH I HAVE SOMETIMES BEEN ASKED TO DO!

I enjoy working with children as I enjoy the challenge and the atmosphere.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring young children for the past sevenyears now whilst studying and working myself. My main age range is 4-16years

Personal Description:
I am a professional and dedicated native English teacher with years of experience behind me.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained TEFL experience within varied teaching roles, both abroad and in the UK. In my previous roles I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults in companies, schools, and summer camps. I have taught General English, Business English, and exam classes to groups and one-to-one students in school and business environments. I also have experience of teaching students with dyslexia. This variety has enabled me to continually assess my style of teaching and keep me on my toes!

Working in such roles has given me crucial insight into the needs of the student. I am extremely patient and understand the frustration that can arise when learning, whether it is a new language or subject. I realise that people acquire knowledge through varied means so I am keen to adjust my teaching style to benefit my students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a mature, responsible, and eclectic teaching approach, as well as a good sense of humour, is crucial for a successful learning environment.

I offer a custom-made service, whether you need to improve your general English skills, your writing, or simply build your confidence. I also have years of experience in teaching Business English and Exam English (IELTS/FCE/CAE). Whatever you need help with, I am happy to focus my lessons on what you require.

I offer Skype lessons and professional proofreading for people who may not be able to meet face-to-face.

I am available to tutor at your home, workplace, or in a quiet cafe in Cambridge. I can also tutor in Central London.

Personal Description:
I am Scottish, currently living in London since December 2012. I have a home in Spain where I enjoy the outdoor life, in particular riding my horse and walking my dogs. However, my two sons and my little grandson live in London and so I am spending valuable time with them and enjoying city life for a change. I also teach yoga and have recently started a class in Newington Green.

Teaching Experience:

I am a graduate of Glasgow University and a PGCE qualified primary teacher with over 25 years experience. The breadth of my experience includes special needs, in particular with children on the autistic spectrum and dyslexia. I have lived in Spain for several years and have worked in International Schools as Year 3 and Year 5 teacher and also as a private tutor. Having worked extensively as a private tutor with different nationalities I am also experienced in EAL.

I have been working as a supply teacher for the last 18 months here in London so am now well versed in all aspects of Primary Education as it is implemented here.

Tutoring Approach:

Communication, for me, is the key to harmony. As a tutor, I believe in locating where the individual is on his/her own personal road map. Thus I can gain an understanding of what the child/young person's needs are and how they view the world and their place in it. From there we can establish together what their motivation is and so learning becomes an exciting journey. I believe that if children are happy and motivated they cannot help but learn but it is crucial to identify the learning style and communicate accordingly.

Personal Description:
I'm 30 and live in Saltaire. I like reading, socialising, going to the theatre and watching films in my spare time. I am currently an English teacher at a school not far from Skipton. I enjoy hearing what young people think and teaching them to achieve the best that they can be.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for six years. Three of those were at a boarding school in Kenya and the rest were here. I have lived in Yorkshire since I returned in 2011. I have worked in Bradford, Brighouse and North Yorkshire in my career. I have taught across the age and ability range. My teaching experience covers working with students from Year 5 up to Year 13. I believe in getting to know students so that I can motivate them effectively to achieve their true potential.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in targeting areas for improvement in tutoring and looking at where students can improve. I use previous assessment data to set clear targets that students can work on. I also use assessment and exam materials to help students to prepare for upcoming tests so that they can perform to the best of their ability. I also encourage students to develop the skills that they need to do well and succeed educationally.

Personal Description:
I am a relaxed and easy-going person but very enthusiastic about my subjects: Drama, English and R.E. I have a Master's Degree in Drama education from Warwick University and am now a professional actor. My Bachelor's degree is in Drama and Theology from Surrey University.

I can teach all levels in these subjects but specialise in teaching over-18s

If you live in West/Southwest/Central London then I am happy to travel to tutor at your home. I am willing to consider travelling further if required.

Teaching Experience:

Since 1990 I have been teaching English, Drama and R.E to a wide range of age groups from 7 to 18, with excellent results in public examinations. I have also tutored adults in these subjects at GCSE and A Level, and for university/O.U./higher education assignments.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very aware that an adult's educational needs differ from those of the child's, and my approach is directed towards making the adult learner and the university student comfortable in the learning environment. Whether providing in-depth teaching from the basics onwards, or support for existing course assignments and projects I provide sensitive and thorough support. There are no prejudices or expectations about what a student should know, and each person is valued whatever their knowledge, level or ability.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Eva, and I would describe myself as a very warm, friendly, straight forward and patient person, with excellent communication skills. I have an incredibly strong academic record (A-Levels: English Literature-A*, Drama-A*and French-A) and a genuine love for reading, theatre, and music. I feel passionate about bringing success and confidence to those I teach, and I aim to inspire my pupils to have a real interest for the subject!

Teaching Experience:

I have regularly helped younger siblings with English homework, and given them the confidence to become braver and more vocal in the classroom. I am able to clearly explain exam and revision technique - which is often the key to improving grades.
I have previously set up a school drama club, and have led games and prepared lessons for groups of children. I enjoyed the challenge and process of this hugely, and know from verbal feedback that they did too! I hugely value the time I spent with these students and their inquisitive minds. As a result of my commitment to this club I was awarded the school's Eunice Hobbs prize for Initiative.
During my degree I was given the role as music teacher, singing teacher and pianist for one of the productions that was being put on. I enjoyed this hugely, and found the work to be incredibly satisfying. The group was made up of university students who had a huge range of musical abilities, and I feel that I was able to attend to each individual's needs by giving clear explanations and ways to think about music.

Tutoring Approach:

I graduated from Guildhall School of Music & Drama with a First Class Honours Degree, and feel that this is a wonderful foundation for tutoring. I feel passionate about helping pupils with Drama, English, or Music, and believe that I would be able to give excellent tutoring lessons. I feel very confident in one-to-one teaching scenarios, and believe I am sensitive to an individual's needs. I do not believe in "one size fits all", and am a great fan of finding out the right way and approach for everyone. Having rigorously gone through GCSEs, A-Levels and then a degree myself, I know how vital it is to feel confident in your own revision technique. I think it is also important to have a sense of fun when learning - and I believe I can bring this to the lesson!

I've helped students create outlines for their essays, understand different theories in psychology, conduct and comprehend statistical analysis, analyse literature, edit papers and learn strategies to absorb material efficiently before exams.

My aim is to make tutoring for university and college students affordable, so I offer a discount for long-term students and also for long appointments. I do all of my tutoring online, mainly via Skype and similar programs, and also by email for essay editing.

Don`t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Teaching Experience:

In the UK, I have experience tutoring for two years in London, Surrey and Norfolk, and I`ve also tutored students for three years across a number of Canadian universities, such as the University of Toronto.

Tutoring Approach:

For A-level and degree students, I'm usually asked to provide assistance with a specific task. For example, I've helped my students construct outlines in order to structure their essays, answer typical questions that will come up on their exams, and proof read their essays to check content, clarity and grammar. I can also clarify theories that are difficult to understand and help students generate ideas for their thesis.
