Teaching Experience:

I have a lot of experience teaching younger children at after-school and holiday clubs, youth groups, school cricket coaching, tutoring and mentoring of underprivileged children, teaching of First Aid at schools as a Red Cross volunteer and being involved in the Alex Curtis Memorial Trust to educate children in schools by giving presentations on the management of asthma and other allergic conditions. As a result, I have had several comprehensive CRB checks and have been tutoring for a long period of time. Tutoring for several years, I have fully grasped all the tips and tricks surrounding the key to great grades, and have helped many students achieve top marks.

I also have a younger sister in primary school whose education I am actively involved in.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that it is paramount for a student, not just to absorb information and facts, but to be able to put these concepts into practice through their full understanding. As a medical student, I know that rote learning is not the key to success - it is the ability to use your knowledge to answer diverse and probing questions that may initially seem outside your comfort zone.

I, therefore, construct a simple but effective study programme, incorporating the student's aims, in order to develop their strengths and remove any weaknesses. Due to my impeccable organisation, a structured plan is produced to maximise the student's chances of success and help them to achieve the grades they deserve.

Exam technique is also an extremely important factor for students to understand and, as a result, incorporated within all lessons are methods to succeed in this vital area - a concept I have fully grasped, as my grades suggest.
Please do not hesitate to contact me and we can arrange an introductory lesson free of charge.

Many Thanks,
Azeem

Personal Description:
I have completed PhD in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Manchester. I offer assistance to degree students in assignments and dissertations. I also offer home tuitions for GCSE and A level students. Currently I am teaching at the University of Manchester to engineering students.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught as Lecturer at under-grad level in the department of mechanical engineering, UET Lahore for almost three years. In January 2007, I joined the department, as Lab Engineer and then promoted to the position of Lecturer after completing Master's degree in 2009. The university and the department claim top position in national ranking and also enjoy the honour of being the biggest and oldest ones in the country. My career of about two years here was full of struggle and effort for excellence in teaching and research.
In addition to that I have have given tuitions as Home Tutor to GCSE and O/A level individuals and small groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I always have the highest expectations of pupils and always have had, even when it was fashionable for learning to be more "child centred"; this is an approach I have found to pay rich dividends in terms of a pupil's academic and personal development. I have always managed to maintain friendly and relaxed environment tailored exactly to what the students requires. Above all I can offer general education and career advice when it matters the most and have observed that my students usually make fast progress towards their goals and good outputs.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable tutor based in the Sandhurst area. I am able to offer tuition in my home. My normal working hours are Monday-Friday, 3pm-8:30pm amd on Wednesdays from 9am-9pm. I aim to be as flexible as possible, so if you would like to have tuition at a time that falls outside of these hours then please contact me and I will try my best to see you then.

Teaching Experience:

I currently have a varied client base of 10 tutees aged 7-45. Several of these been with me since September 2011; I will happily provide references to support this. I first began tutoring in August 2010 & I have taught English Literature & Language both at Primary and Secondary school level since then. Additionally, I have worked for Let Me Play LTD where I taught English as a foreign language in their summer holiday camp held in License Victualler's School, Ascot. I worked for Let Me Play in August 2011 & then Aug-Sept this year after they asked if I could work for them once more. I have taught a wide range of children with varying needs. I worked at Cove School as a Learning Support Assistant, where I worked closely with children with learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Moreover, I spent a year at Robert May's School working as an Unqualified Teacher. Throughout this role I worked with a large number of students, not just providing support for those who were less able or under confident but also helping GCSE student turn A s into A*s. I am currently working 4 days a week as a Teaching Assistant at Garth Hill College.

Tutoring Approach:

My main aim as a tutor is to improve students' English skills however; my secondary aim is to ensure that they enjoy the process. There are always going to be bits which are less exciting, nevertheless I strive for a smile every lesson.
On first meeting a new tutee I ask them a few questions about their experience of English as a subject, discussing specifically what they enjoy and what they don't, as this can often provide me with valuable insight as to how to deliver my lessons in a way they will respond to. I ask them to take part in a series of activities aimed to test their reading and writing capabilities so that I can evaluate these for myself. But, I also find it very useful to take a look at some of the work that they have been doing in school, where this is possible. After this session, which should take 30-45 minutes, I discuss my findings with the parents and ask them in which key areas they would like to see their son or daughter improve. This is only a generic template of a first meeting as each one can be quite different depending on the student and the family.
As the tuition continues I will work directly with the student, working specifically on the areas which need most improvement. I also aim to tie in from time to time with what they are studying at school as this helps to cement the learning that takes place there. Furthermore, recapping on ideas that they have been recently studying can help to improve a student's confidence as they are ready equipped with some of the answers. From this point onwards contact with parents tends to take one of these 3 forms 1) A summary chat immediately after each session (around 5-10 minutes). 2) A longer catch up on a monthly basis, again immediately after a session. 3) Email / telephone contact. Again these are not strict rules just templates, generally parents have as much or as little involvement as they wish and conversations about tuition happen whenever they are required.

Personal Description:
After graduating from the University of St Andrews with a 2.1 in English Literature, I gained a qualification in teaching English as a foreign language. As part of this course I taught groups of learners as well as one on one classes, which I particularly enjoyed. I am very patient and enjoy teaching academic English and English as a foreign language to people of all ages.

Teaching Experience:

My Trinity Cert TESOL course included the following:
6 hours of assessed teaching practice with learners of English as a foreign language
Experience planning and delivering private 1 to 1 lessons

Tutoring Approach:

Being Trinity TESOL qualified, I can help you identify which areas of the English language you struggle with most and prepare a course of study based on your aims and needs. I try to plan fun lessons that build your confidence in all aspects of communication.

I can also provide help with academic writing for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students whose first language is not English.

Having a degree in English Literature, I can tutor Standard Grade and Higher Grade (or GCSE and A-level) students in English. While I believe it is important to encourage students to focus on the requirements of the exam board, so that they can achieve grades that reflect their full potential, I also want to encourage students to read literature with a critical independence that they can enjoy for life.

I am friendly and approachable and like to aim to raise student self-esteem and attitude to learning, focusing on positive recognition of achievements and constructive reinforcement of learning strategies.

I work just as easily with adults as I do with children.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 30 years of teaching experience teaching from pre schoo level up to GCSE level and adult learning for returning to work.

I also teach children within the care system who have missed a lot of the early building blocks through lack of education as opposed to lack of ability. This also includes overcoming huge barriers to learning !

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to develop an individual learning strategy to accomodate the students learning style and empower them to achieve and gain confidence through a positive learning programme suited to their individual style and needs.

Personal Description:
My name is Jennie, I am a highly qualified English Language and Literature teacher and tutor. I have been teaching English Language and Literature for four years, since graduating from Edinburgh University with a First Class MA(Hons) Degree in English Literature. I have a passion for working with children and inspiring them to develop their skills and mastery of both English Language and Literature.

Teaching Experience:

During my four years teaching in London, I have been consistently rated as an OFSTED Outstanding Teacher and have a wealth of experience and proven track record of results with students of all ability levels.

As well as teaching both A-Level and GSCE to Gifted and Talented Students, I am a Deputy SENCo and have a wealth of experience working with students with literacy difficulties and special educational needs.

I have also worked as a teacher in a range of educational settings, including voluntary work in Swaziland and Ghana and these experiences have enabled me to develop a flexible teaching approach and the ability to tailor my methods of teaching to the needs of the individual child I am working with.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly, approachable and dedicated to helping students succeed. I feel that the most important thing about being a great teacher is getting to know the child/young adult you are working with in order to understand how best they learn. This enables me to tailor my approach in order to help your child to improve their abilities in a way that suits them.

I like to be creative and interactive and enable students to make links between their learning and real-life in order that they can embed the skills they are being taught more fully. I also feel that discussion is a key part of teaching English Language and Literature, to enable students to build their confidence and complexity through talk, in order to develop their written skills.

Personal Description:
I am a second year student who is currently studying at the University of Greenwich and I study Chemistry BSc Hons. I am aspiring to be a Chemistry teacher in the future as I would love to share my passion and education with the generations below.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at many tuition centers and I have been teaching from home for nearly two years. All my students have come away from my teaching with high grades and they have all eventually gotten into good London universities such as, The School of Economics and Political Science or Queen Mary University.

Tutoring Approach:

As I am currently a student, I work with other students very well as I understand the stress and pressure and help they need. I work by teaching them topics in the beginning but then I like all my students to gain a sense of independence when working as that's what they will need when they are in the exam. Many students make the mistake of learning from a textbook, word for word, when the key is understanding, that's what I give in every single subject I teach as that's what differentiates from the A grade students to the other students.

I also give the older students support and advice with their university applications and I also help with open days, I like to be more than a tutor, I like to be my students support so they can be the best they can be in their future work or education. At the end of the day 'If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough' - Albert Einstein.

Personal Description:
I am a fourth year Masters student at Edinburgh University, studying Philosophy and Politics.
I have always been extremely academic and passionate about learning and this has translated into my love of teaching.
I play a lot of sport in my spare time (mainly lacrosse and tennis) and I enjoy travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught:

Philosophy: AS level - degree level (3rd year)
Politics AS level - degree level
English: GCSE level - degree level

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a smaller age gap between tutor and tutee is beneficial. Firstly, it is easier to build up rapport and enjoyment from the sessions - which in turn yields better results. Secondly, I have taken my exams extremely recently and am up to date with the current exam boards.

I plan all lessons in advance to ensure maximum time-management.

I have noticed that a huge part of passing exams is ESSAY STYLE. Important skills include understanding and interpreting the question correctly (more complicated than most people think - exam boards like to throw out trick questions!), structure and style. Too many students know all their facts but don't perform as well as expected in their exams because they fall down on the writing side of things. Teaching in large classes doesn't allow this focused approach to writing style that is so pivotal to exam success.

Confidence building in my students is also of maximal importance. This comes from teaching the course topic by topic, testing and lots of essay planning. The reality of exam boards today is that they have a limited scope of questions they could ask and these are rephrased year to year (sometimes in confusing ways). The trick is to be able to recognise which core question is being asked and to have several essay plans previously learnt that can be applied for each one.
