Personal Description:
I am a French student in final year at Leeds university. I have just spent a year in France so my spoken and written French is of a high standard. Given that I am learning French myself, I am able to tutor English as a foreign language to degree level. I have an A level in Maths, and am therefore able to teach up to age 14. My mother has been a French teacher for 20 years, and my father has been a maths teacher for the same amount of time. This means that I have access to a wide range of teaching resources that they have collected/developped over the years. Equally, I am more than happy to provide help with homework or work on supplementary excercises. I am a confident, friendly person who gets on well with children of all ages.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked for six months teaching English and Maths to children (between the ages of 6 and 12) in Santiago, Chile in 2006. I also coached rugby there. I enjoyed the experience thouroughly and I think the children did too. I have considerable experience working with young people on outwards bounds activities.

Tutoring Approach:

Specialising in French and English, I would suggest practise excercises in grammar, reading and writing. Also I would be happy to have conversation practise, or sessions aimed at improving homework. For maths, I would suggest excercisies in problem areas, and can provide very well designed worksheets (with the option of setting additional homework for each session).

Personal Description:
I'm a recent graduate from Coventry University, having read History there. In university I studied modern world history, but during my A levels I studied England and Europe in the time of the Tudors and the reformation, and am interested in and personally read about many historical periods. Therefore, I feel confident that I can help with any historical subject that is likely to come up. I also lead the International relations society and environmental society debating teams during my time in those societies. I have a personal passion and interest in both History and English Literature.

Teaching Experience:

For 18 months I was an instructor with Rugby Sea Cadet unit, teaching children aged 12-18. I did undergo a full CRB check for this position, which has since expired. I underwent a variety of instructional method courses and qualifications while an instructor there. I was also involved in mentoring and tutoring programs while in school, assisting both younger and older pupils who were struggling with History and English, in coursework, exam, and presentation preparation. I have also performed work experience at schools at a variety of ages.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to help a student develop the key skills necessary to really get to grips with the subject, for example the analysis of sources, than simply to give them the answers to a particular question, as I feel this helps not just with understanding the subject but also with confidence in putting their skills to practical use in exams, presentations and coursework. However, ultimately it is down to the particular needs of the student in the individual case and I am more than willing to adapt myself to their requirements.

Personal Description:
I have a few children of my own, mostly adults now but Alexander is in year eight and has recently taken and succeeded in his own SATs at year 6 whilst Zahra is studying at Newcastle College. I've been teaching for over twenty five years, but also have 11 years experience in industry, most of my life since wanting to join this profession at age 18. I am living in Wallsend, was born in North Shields. I am available to travel to student's own homes. My full time teaching was from 1972 to 1992 in schools either in London (Bethnal Green and Walthamstow) and in Newcastle (Heaton and Blakelaw). I have been a Supply Teacher 2004 to date.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently (and for the previous five and a half years) working as a supply teacher with full CRB clearance, in the North East. I am registered with thirteen supply agencies as well as with Northumberland Education Authority for supply work. I am able to offer KS1 and KS2 support in the students own home and SATs preparation in English, Science and Mathematics. Living in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear I am quite centrally placed geographically but rarely know exactly where I am going to be day to day, week to week. I am able to travel, working on supply with classes from reception to Year 8 between Amble and Ashington, Easington and Sunderland, Chopwell and Ponteland, South and North Shields. I am regularly asked back to schools because of successful visits and popularity with children, staff and classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I have recently been a personal tutor for about two years, previously also about five years ago, before personal circumstances caused me to have to stop tutoring to look after my own family more of the time. As I am regularly working with KS1 and KS2 pupils in schools in the area I have lots of curriculum information and materials available to help especially with SATs preparation at both levels. I am now available a couple of nights a week and Saturday mornings to help pupils achieve more of their own potential. First session always free of charge, thereafter 25 per hour, paid in advance weekly. In case of cancellation without notice - 25 will still be due and be deemed to have been paid from the advance deposit.
Documentation: I bring with me full C.R.B. clearance certification, a photo driving licence and my Teacher's Certificate from Northern Counties College of Education.
