Personal Description:
My name is Azeem, a 3rd year medical student currently studying at King's College London.

I have a lot of experience educating children and young people and am currently tutoring maths to underprivileged children free of charge in an attempt to help them achieve their full potential.

I feel it is important to bring out the best in a student, whilst always ensuring the learning experience is as enjoyable as possible.

Teaching Experience:

I have a lot of experience teaching younger children at after-school and holiday clubs, youth groups, school cricket coaching, tutoring and mentoring of underprivileged children, teaching of First Aid at schools as a Red Cross volunteer and being involved in the Alex Curtis Memorial Trust to educate children in schools by giving presentations on the management of asthma and other allergic conditions. As a result, I have had several comprehensive CRB checks and have been tutoring for a long period of time. Tutoring for several years, I have fully grasped all the tips and tricks surrounding the key to great grades, and have helped many students achieve top marks.

I also have a younger sister in primary school whose education I am actively involved in.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that it is paramount for a student, not just to absorb information and facts, but to be able to put these concepts into practice through their full understanding. As a medical student, I know that rote learning is not the key to success - it is the ability to use your knowledge to answer diverse and probing questions that may initially seem outside your comfort zone.

I, therefore, construct a simple but effective study programme, incorporating the student's aims, in order to develop their strengths and remove any weaknesses. Due to my impeccable organisation, a structured plan is produced to maximise the student's chances of success and help them to achieve the grades they deserve.

Exam technique is also an extremely important factor for students to understand and, as a result, incorporated within all lessons are methods to succeed in this vital area - a concept I have fully grasped, as my grades suggest.
Please do not hesitate to contact me and we can arrange an introductory lesson free of charge.

Many Thanks,
Azeem

Personal Description:
I enjoy teaching and consider myself both easy going and approachable, whilst being firm and demanding enough to get the best out of any potential student. I graduated with a 2:1 in Biochemistry (with a year in industry) from the University York. Following from my undergraduate degree I obtained an MRes with distinction in Molecular Plant Biology and Biotechnology at Imperial College London. This was followed by a further MRes with distinction in Urban Sustainability and Resilience at University College London. I am currently undertaking an Engineering doctorate at University College London, where my research area focuses on the production of algal biomass. The work falls within the fields of Biochemical and Environmental Engineering, and I have recently obtained research grants to pursue my work.

Teaching Experience:

At university I would often take part in student led tutorials and workshops, allowing me to hone my teaching and listening skills. I currently demonstrate in undergraduate laboratory classes and lead seminar discussions within my department. This university teaching experience is coupled with considerable prior activity in tutoring both friends, family and students of all ages in scientific subject areas, with high levels of success. I am currently tutoring key stage 3, and GCSE biology, chemistry and physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an informal teaching style and seek to understand the particular educational requirements of each individual tutee. To this end I will endeavor to promote educational development through note taking, written exercises, case studies, question and discussion periods, as well as with independent study. When the time comes for formal examinations the learning focus will shift to past paper practice and improving general examination technique. I have a firm belief in always being approachable for any type of question, great or small and l like to foster an inquisitive relationship with my tutee.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am 37 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 12 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching in secondary school as a Science and Spanish teacher, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America. I am now working for an independent school in the Rochdale area and have gained experience tutoring a wide range of subjects and a wide range of ages.

I have an up to date enhanced CRB.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my teaching degree in 2007 at Canterbury Christ Church University. I trained in two very different types of schools, private Catholic school and selective high school, which gave me the experience to engage students of different abilities and backgrounds. I also received training to teach EAL and SEN students. My teaching qualification is in Science, but as a fluent Spanish linguist I have also taught Spanish to both adults and children. I teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics up to GCSE level, and other subjects I currently teach include Maths up to GCSE level and English up to Key Stage 3.

Tutoring Approach:

Students, young and old, don't like subjects they don't think they can succeed in. My approach is to break down material, relate it to everyday life and interests, and positively reinforce all the way to build up confidence. I am stubborn (!) and I don't give up until it's mastered.

Personal Description:
I am an 21 year old third year medical student at Peninsula medical school.

Obviously, my main interest lies with medical science, but I am hugely passionate about biology and chemistry - chemistry in particular - and enjoy sharing this with others through teaching.

Outside of academia, I enjoy dinghy sailing, surfing, fencing, and play the bass guitar.

At A level I gained three A* grades in biology, chemistry, and general studies and an A in maths. I also have an A grade in AS English language.

Unfortunately, due to university, I am unable to offer tuition during term time and am restricted to holidays. For this reason I am probably more suited to those wishing to get a head start before they return to school, who are struggling with the syllabus or who simply wish to learn! I am flexible with prices.

I am a mature individual with a keen sense of humour and love the challenge that comes with tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

Tutored a year 11 boy GCSE maths and combined science for one year (grades yet to be released);
Mentored a year 7/8 in school with reading and writing skills;
Experience in coaching 10-17 year olds in dinghy sailing, both practical and theory.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to instil a passion - or at the very least an interest - in the subject, by teaching both within and outside the syllabus to pass on the (sometimes) more interesting but ignored areas. Aside from this, I have a relaxed manner so that it doesn't feel too much like school to the tutee. If there is an area they wish to know about that I am unsure on, I will endeavour to learn about if before the next session so that they have a certain degree of input on what they learn whilst still covering the syllabus. I will ask the tutee lots of questions, as I have found this method very useful with it requiring you to think on your feet and explain answers coherently.

Personal Description:
I am a private maths tutor, although I teach other subjects too. I am very passionate about the maths, in fact I have studied it at degree level for that reason. I hope to potentially be a maths teacher in future, as I can think of nothing better than sharing the skills that I have learnt throughout my life in education with others and watching my students flourish when they realize the joy of learning. Teaching is a very rewarding and respectable job and if done properly it can mold the lives of many young people.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working for a tution center part time for a couple of years now, which is open during school term time. I teach up to GCSE level there, focusing on maths, science and English. I also work privately helping those of all ages and abilities, including adult learners as well as children of a very young age.

Although I claim to help up to an A-Level maths standard, I have the ability and experience to help those at university struggling with foundation maths courses, or statistic related modules within most university courses.

Other subjects I teach privately include the social sciences, such as psychology and sociology. However as mentioned maths is my forte.

I have also taken part in a mentoring programme called paired reading, where I helped children in high school who were not reading at their aspired level, reach new heights, which consequently lead to them doing better in English.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a student should feel comfortable with their teacher. Although you have to take a firm approach at times particularly when handling groups or younger children. If a child is apprehensive towards their teacher, they will be reluctant to ask for help, and therefore their hesitation will result in them not reaching their potential. I believe a person can achieve anything if they dedicate the right amount of time to it. More importantly if they show interest in it. As a tutor it is my job to help my students unlock their potential. To show them the real life application of what they are learning and how to apply their new found knowledge.

Personal Description:
I am currently employed full time by a major international pharmaceutical company. I volunteer with STEMNET to teach science and maths lessons in school, encouraging young children to have more of an interest in these subjects and introducing them to potential career opportunities. I have a number of students at the moment in Hertfordshire and Essex, and enjoy tuition very much as I have a keen Interest in the subjects I teach and like to share that with others.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for the past two years, and have great recommendations from my students. Previously I would tutor adhoc for friends and family, but enjoyed it so much that I decided to make it more official.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that all students are different and have different study needs. I like to take time to get to know the student and understand their difficulties. I know that for the most part students seek tuition because conventional education methods have failed them and so they need a more tailored approach, and the time to find their own way into the topic.

Personal Description:
I'm 23 years old and currently I work part-time in a library, in an after-school club, tutoring and offering child-care.
I graduated a couple of years ago from Cambridge where I studied Classics.
I studied Maths, Biology, Chemistry as well as Latin at A-level, so I view languages quite mathematically. I enjoy spending time with people, playing the piano, being outside, and doing anything crafty.

Teaching Experience:

I have a number of different teaching experiences; currently I'm tutoring GCSE Maths, Science and English for a 16-year-old girl, helping her to understand work covered in class and to revise for her up-coming exams.

Before university I spent 3 months living with a family in Tanzania and home-tutoring their 10-year-old son in English, Maths, Sciences and History. It was brilliant to see him gaining confidence over that time, particularly in Maths, going from hating it to actually admitting he quite enjoyed times-tables!

Also, whilst at university, I tutored a number of pupils during school holidays in English, Maths and Science, from primary up to age-14 including studying for the 11+ and 13+ examinations.

I have experience working with students with SEN including helping a boy with dyspraxia with his Maths, and last year working 1:1 with a young child with autism.

For many years I've also enjoyed working with children aged 0-16 in Sunday school groups and holiday clubs.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to work with the pupil to identify any areas of difficulty, and then approach these topics from different angles in order to find a method or explanation that the student can better understand and more easily learn. I aim to offer plenty encouragement to help pupils to grow in confidence and in enjoyment of their studies.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate (2013) from the University of Oxford where I read Theology. Before that I had majored in science subjects, taking all three sciences at A-level and completing the Mathematics A level in a single year. The mechanics of the world which the disciplines of science and maths explore fascinates me and I aim to pass on that fascination to all of my tutees, thus motivating them to pursue their course to the best of their ability.

Teaching Experience:

I have been involved with youth and children's work as a volunteer in various churches throughout my life and so understand how to engage and interest this age group very well. During the summer of 2012 I tutored for the subjects of Maths and Science at GCSE level. My studies in Oxford, which are focused largely on a one-to-one format, have also taught me a lot about effective ways of managing this incentive approach to teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

My fundamental goal is for my tutees to understand the concepts that govern their relevant subject and to furnish them with the appropriate facts and skills to demonstrate their knowledge in an exam. As most tutees have problem areas that they need to work on the first tutorial or so will seek to identify as quickly as possible those problem areas. These problem areas will be dealt with in turn by first explaining to the tutee the concept involved and then testing their understanding by an appropriate method.

I worked in the Theoretical Physics group for six months as a Research Assistant after being awarded a PhD in Physics, studying Observational Cosmology. Prior to this, I was awarded an MSci in Physics with Theoretical Physics (First Class honours). During my PhD, I worked part time as an undergraduate teaching assistant for Maths, Physics and Computing courses.

I am an enthusiastic tutor with a love for Physics and Maths. I am passionate about education and sharing knowledge with my students - I will soon be starting a secondary teacher training course for which I have been awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Institute of Physics.

Teaching Experience:

In the past I have volunteered at a Homework Club in Earls Court for disadvantaged 8-16 year old children, which was extremely rewarding. I worked on Maths and Science homework once a week for several months.

I also volunteered as an A-level maths and physics tutor in a mixed sixth form at Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School through the Pimlico Connection volunteering scheme at Imperial College. I tutored small groups of one or two students for a couple of hours a week for five months.

I was employed as a part time undergraduate teaching assistant at Imperial College throughout the three and a half years of my PhD. I assisted staff in teaching maths, physics and computing courses. This included assisting students with problem sheets, supervising project work, marking reports and giving students individual feedback.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to develop a problem solving approach, showing you how to approach problems so that you can apply existing knowledge to new examples. I think that a tutor should demonstrate a passion for their subject and be able to excite others about it.

I have a knowledge of the National Curriculum and am familiar with the GCSE and A-level specifications.
