Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry after previously completing my Biological Sciences degree with honours in Neuroscience and Masters degree (by research) in Genetics at The University of Edinburgh.

As a postgraduate student, I have experience in research, scientific publishing, and presentation. As a medical student I am accomplished at assimilating vast amounts of biological and medical knowledge.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored 2 GCSE and 4 A-level students over the past 3 years and all have improved considerably with one to one tuition. Both students and their parents have spoken very positively about the impact of private tutoring on academic progress. Excellent results have been achieved thus far!

Tutoring Approach:

I love to see people understand, enjoy, and become enthusiastic about science. I am passionate about understanding how we work, what can go wrong with us, and how we fit in with the biological world around us. I am able to convey my understanding of science to others with clarity and necessary depth.

I can utilise teaching methods suitable for the student, be that posters, flash cards, diagrams or text. I offer a tailored approach depending on the ability and knowledge possessed by the student. I aim to assess individual needs and formulate a study plan from the first contact session.

In addition, I can also help students with medical school entry, including personal statement analysis and interview preparation.

Personal Description:
Looking for a reliable tutor in Maths or Science? I have been tutoring students on a one to one basis for many years.
I am a PhD student in Cambridge University, currently doing research in Biotechnology.
I previously studied in University College London, where I did MSc Biochemical Engineering, and before that King's College London, where I did BSc Medical Biochemistry.
Since secondary school, Maths and the Sciences have always been my strengths, and I am lucky to have been able to apply both areas in my past and present degrees.
I can tutor at GCSE level, A-Level or International Baccalaureate.
Besides English, I can speak Cantonese Chinese fluently, and a little bit of Mandarin Chinese.

Teaching Experience:

Back in school, I was a Maths and Science Prefect, so I had experience teaching pupils in small groups and on an individual basis. In Maths in particular, friends often approached me to explain things that they did not understand. When the teacher was absent, I would often be urged to stand in front of the class and teach!

I have tutored a variety of pupils, and every time the grades they end up obtaining have met or exceeded their targets.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student's needs are different and I will tailor my teaching style accordingly. I believe understanding is the best approach to learning and teaching. There's no point in just memorising things if you don't understand where they came from. I explain things in such a way that it is easy to understand, and I am very patient.

If the student has learnt something in school they didn't quite understand, I can go over the topic again with them during our lesson.
If the student understood everything in school, I can teach them new topics to prepare them for when they learn that topic in school.
Lastly, near exam times, I can offer intense exam revision and exam paper practice.

I prefer to see my students twice a week, in hourly (or 1.5 hour) sessions. I am quite flexible in when I can offer lessons.

You will not be disappointed!

Personal Description:
A highly effective teacher; experienced, well organised, motivated, enthusiastic, with good sense of humour.

I establish rapport with my students. In my long career in teaching, I have learned how to make the most complex concepts in science 'digestible'. My motto is: 'Excellence in Education'.

I am a member of Pi Lambda Theta (International Honour Society for Educators).

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Teacher / Lecturer, and have taught Biology and Chemistry for over thirty years in Secondary, and Further/Higher Education in the US, the EU, and the UK. I have taught the AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and the International Baccalaureate specifications.

In addition to teaching students, I have trained teachers, as well.

Tutoring Approach:

While my Bachelor's Degree is in Biology and Chemistry, my Master's Degree is in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction, which means I have trained in designing and delivering effective lesson plans, as well as a complete curriculum. I design my instruction taking into account the student's learning style. The 'one size fits all' type of teaching is responsible for the failure of many students. Every student can learn and can do well, provided the teaching style accommodates the student's learning style, and there are no 'gaps' in what is prerequisite knowledge for taking a certain course.

Knowledge builds on pre-existing knowledge. I make certain that my students really understand and appreciate that. I diagnose any 'gaps' in content knowledge that my students may have, and I 'fill' them, providing a solid foundation for my students to build on.

Study skills, which figure prominently in my teaching, and exam technique, along with a well-rounded, in-depth knowledge of content, provide the key to success.

At the end of the course, my students not only do they have what they need to tackle the Biology or Chemistry Exam, but also a wealth of learning skills which they can apply to other subjects as well, and which they will find essential in all their future academic studies.

Educational technology supplements my instruction. The content in every session is presented on PowerPoint with quality images. I clarify every point and make certain my student has 'grasped' the present concept before I proceed with the next. Where appropriate, the PPT presentation is followed by a brief video which makes the content 'come alive'. My PowerPoint presentations, as well as my notes on PDF or Word files are available for my students after the lesson.

I finish the lesson practicing exam - style questions. It goes without saying that regular revision is important, and I provide my students with lots of past exam papers.

Personal Description:
I am a student at King's College London, currently in my third year of undergraduate medicine.

Having finished school education (@KEGS) with respectable grades, I feel that I am capable of delivering the necessary expertise in the subjects I offer, and relate to the demanding environment of late school life, tailoring my support accordingly.

I am an exceptional academic who has proven himself in various national competitions.

[As for interests, I have always been a keen reader of sci-fi and steampunk. I play fencing and hockey with the uni, while in my younger years I swam and figure skated. I was with the school's cadet force for 5 years and enjoy outdoor adventure.]

Teaching Experience:

None of note. .

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in goal-based learning; essentially targeting and refining teaching of a subject for the specific purpose of excelling in exams. This enhances efficiency and reduces excess learning investment which might be directed elsewhere. While this may seem graceless, I know that this reflects the current ethics of the education system, and that learning for the sake of the subject (outside of the curriculum) is done by those interested enough in it to not require a tutor. Despite this, I am amendable to teaching in full, can adapt to any requests.

I tailor teaching to individual students and ensure understanding is present at every stage before proceeding.

I believe in honest, open teaching and in two-way communication between tutor and tutee. I hope to engage the learner at all stages, discussing and resolving uncertainties and misconceptions.

Finally, I will fully invest my energies into assuring your success, as it will be as personal to me as it is to you!

Personal Description:
18/03 - Please note that on UK Tutors as both student and tutor to pay a fee before addresses can be exchanged. I have had quite a few people think that I profit from this fee but I really do not, I too have to pay a fee between 10-20.

I am a graduate of University of Nottingham where I studied Biochemistry and Genetics. I am looking to hopefully teach A-level students that require help to get a better grade. I am also happy to teach younger students.

As of September 2014 - Sept 2015, I will be studying my Masters at Regent`s University, London. I will be commuting to London daily which may take up my time, please be aware of this when contacting me. I would like to ask students to be flexible during certain times of the year due to study assignments.

With regard to my CRB check, I was checked in 2008 by Willen Hospice as well as by Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 2013.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught on total, over 20 students studying GCSE and A-level Biology/Chemistry/Maths on either AQA or OCR exam boards.

I teach Sunday to Thursday from 4pm to 9pm
Currently (10/03/2015 ) I am available to teach at these times:
Monday: Unavailable
Tuesday: Unavailable
Wednesday: 9-10
Thursday: 7:30-9:30
Sunday: 7-9

Tutoring Approach:

After teaching solidly since November 2012, I have been able to further develop my teaching skills. To begin, I start with revision techniques, worksheets and make new, very detailed, class/revision notes with my students. After developing a solid understanding, I begin with exam questions as I have been able to collect a solid amount of questions (exam and school questions). Every lesson, I print out worksheets and notes for my students as well as give them homework. Essentially, what I offer are school lessons that are more detailed and focused than what they receive in school. Through these methods, I am able to thoroughly assess a student's abilities, increase them and hopefully better their grades. However, I stress, students must work hard themselves to achieve good grades.

Parents often ask me about discount, I am happy to discuss this for long-term students and 2 hours lessons

School Holiday (Easter, Summer and Christmas) - 20% off two hour lessons
A Level: 60 to 48
GCSE: 50 to 40

Group Lessons:

Personal Description:
I am a final year student at Queen Mary, University of London studying for a BSc in Natural Sciences. It is my intention to go on to become a secondary science teacher next year.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent 4 months working part time in a secondary school, teaching all ages and ability levels Science. I have a strong grasp of the National Curriculum because of this. In my time there I worked very closely with the year 11 classes (GCSE year), making sure they fully understood some of the more complex information.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach will depend entirely upon your needs. Once a firm knowledge base has been established, I like to focus on practice exam questions. I think these are incredibly important as it helps you get used to putting down all that information on paper. I can also teach you good exam technique to make sure you excel.

Teaching Experience:

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have always found teaching rewarding. However, my passion began from the normal everyday routine teaching on the wards when I was liaising with colleagues, students and informing patients as to their condition and the process forward. Being a dyslexic, I found it easy to discuss core concepts of (medicine, biology, etc,) debate and to visualize them rather than the traditional sense of readings lots of chapters across a number of books.

Following on from this experience, I began teaching a number of students privately at University ranging from their coursework, to subject matters and then to examination preparation. In the process of teaching, I enjoy developing a rapport with a small number of students and watching their understanding of the core concepts grow, but also the result the students achieved from their institutions.

Taught students from a diverse range of backgrounds, abilities and levels.

MY SPECIALIST SUBJECTS
1) Biology
2) Medicine
3) Anatomy
4) Physiology
5) Clinical Skills
6) Study Skills
7) Research skills
8) Thesis writing
9) Interview skills
10) University admission process
11) Proof reading coursework

Tutoring Approach:

MY OBJECTIVES
1) Enjoy the art of teaching
2) Assist the tutee to achieve their goals
3) Deliver high quality tuition with an emphasis on medicine
4) Engage with the tutee by assisting them in their endeavors
5) Improve the students confidence, understanding and grades of the student
6) Ensure that the student has an understanding of clinical concepts and principles
7) Enhance a students ability to think under examination pressure
8) Reflect on feedback given to me from the student

EXPERIENCE & APPROACH OF TUTORING
Experience:
1) Every student requires tutoring for different reasons; therefore I believe that an initial student-tutor discussion is vital so that we can establish a level of tutoring that works efficiently for you to flourish.
2) Been teaching for 3 years, in different settings, at different levels across a range of environments.
3) Taught many age groups
4) I have had fantastic success with my past students and hope to pass this on to future students.

Approach of tutoring:
1) The goals and timescales is dictated by the student from the initial meeting & based on this; an greed set of measurable learning parameters is formed
2) Friendly approach to learning
3) The student enjoys the learning process
4) I advocate a clinical problem-based approach to learning.
5) Integration of analogies
6) Stepwise progression of the subject in terms of depth, complexity and integration
7) Encourage the student to ask questions
8) Provide relevant information
9) Promote independent thinking, pattern recognition and problem solving abilities
10) Request regular feedback from the student on what they found useful and how we could course correct in order to maximise time, enhance goals and course correct.
Approach of tutoring with students and their disabilities:
Being a dyslexic learner myself, I understand your pain, frustration and have a lot of experience to streamline your learning process. So don't be afraid to discuss learning difficulties with me. Its not a question of ability, understanding or context, rather the format in which it is delivered. In my experience, students with disabilities make fantastic professionals. Previous experience working with disabled students; dyslexia, dysgraphia and ADHD.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
I have delivered a variety of formats in the past and below are my past approaches and I am happy to tailor the tutoring to the style that suits you best. In the past, students have preferred subject knowledge to be delivered in a simple method, step wise, structured milestones.

Student orientated:
1) Focus of my teaching is geared towards modern medicine and practical, clinical application, with an emphasis on research and evidence based medicine.
2) Depend largely on the students aims and course requirements
3) Happy to help teach problem areas and prepare for exams
4) Focuses on core concepts, application with practical examples, and how these are tested in the examination
5) Explore subject areas in more depth than might be possible in time limited lectures
6) Leave students with problem sets between sessions
7) Can provide crib sheets so that the student can focus on the discussions and core concepts

Lectures:
1) Share my knowledge, subject matter and engage with you in a challenging and thought provoking way.
2) There will be an expectation that the student has read around the subject matter of the lecture, which will add to your understanding and develop your critical and analytical skills
Seminars
1) Present and discuss ideas in smaller groups, engage in lively debates to share your interpretations and opinions with other students
2) Examination crash courses with a group of students- is a popular request

Tutorials
1) One to one, or small group sessions, problem solving sessions

Workshop

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable person who has always really enjoyed teaching and tutoring in the past. I'm a medical student in my fourth year of my degree, I studied at Oxford University for the first three years of my degree, achieving a first class honours in Medical Science, I am now studying at UCL for the final three years of my course. I have always had a passion for science and I have a strong academic record, I hope that I can pass on some of my enthusiasm to my tutees. Outside of my studies I listen to music and play in a jazz band, I also play football and enjoy reading.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored English, Maths and Science to primary school children. I also have experience of teaching English as a foreign language to children and teenagers aged 5-18. In addition I have taught music theory to adults and given practical music lessons on the clarinet and violin to children aged 8-12.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach will depend on the tutee: what their interests are and how they learn best. I try to encourage and support my students to create an environment where they can satisfy their curiosity and feel comfortable admitting when they struggle with a topic. I find it useful to begin by explaining basic concepts in simple terms and build up an understanding from there, I like to help my pupils to consolidate their learning by revisiting newly learned topics in subsequent weeks.

For younger children my approach has been to make tutoring sessions as interactive as possible, using games and competitions to engage them in their work while still trying to stretch them to achieve the highest possible level.
