Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student at Imperial College London. Having recently been through high school and excelled in both GCSEs and A-levels, I know what it requires for a student to perform to the best of their ability. I am a strong believer that with hard work and the right guidance, most students can go on to achieve excellent grades.

Teaching Experience:

During my A-levels, I have helped teach younger students in Geography and Maths classes, but the majority of my teaching experience has been with my two younger brothers. I have worked very hard with them over the years and take pride in the fact that they too performed exceptionally well at school through my help.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to make my lessons interactive, explaining complex ideas in the simplest and most interesting way possible. I strongly believe that student must first develop a good conceptual understanding of the subject before refining their exam technique. I will work hard for my students and expect them to do the same in their studies.

Personal Description:
I have been a Biology teacher for 37 years. I am now retired and living with my wife in Hartland in North Devon.
We have four adult children.
I have taught in state schools and independent schools in UK and at International Schools in Africa and the Middle East. During my teaching career I have been Head of Biology for twelve years.
I have always enjoyed studying Biology and I like to think that I can pass my enthusiasm for the subject on to my tutees.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in UK for 19 years:
Twelve years at the Radclyffe School in Oldham, two years at St John Rigby Sixth Form College in Wigan and nearly five years at Shebbear College in North Devon where I was Head of Biology.
I have taught at International Schools for 18 years. All the institutions followed the British Curriculum:
One year at Barewa College, Zaria in Nigeria and one year at Seepapitso Secondary School in Botswana.
Nearly six years in Kenya at Hillcrest Secondary School, Nairobi where I was also the Head of Boarding.
Three years at Muscat Private School in Oman, two years as Head of Science at the British School of Alexandria, and three years at the Modern English School in Cairo as Head of Biology.
I completed my overseas teaching as Head of Biology at Al Khor International School in Qatar where I taught for two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always enjoyed studying and teaching Biology which has effectively been my lifetime's work. I have extensive experience of teaching students from many different educational backgrounds and I have always been able to relate to my students and nurture an enthusiasm for the subject. As a tutor I would aim to make my lessons enjoyable but rigorous and I will always try my best to boost the confidence of my tutees. If students begin to enjoy the subject they will gain confidence and the examinations will then seem less daunting.
Whenever I tutor I will always incorporate the use of a computer into the learning process. I like to refer to animations and short video clips which greatly enhance the learning process. The on-line resources can then be used by my tutees to reinforce their understanding, as well as researching new material.

Personal Description:
I have completed PhD in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Manchester. I offer assistance to degree students in assignments and dissertations. I also offer home tuitions for GCSE and A level students. Currently I am teaching at the University of Manchester to engineering students.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught as Lecturer at under-grad level in the department of mechanical engineering, UET Lahore for almost three years. In January 2007, I joined the department, as Lab Engineer and then promoted to the position of Lecturer after completing Master's degree in 2009. The university and the department claim top position in national ranking and also enjoy the honour of being the biggest and oldest ones in the country. My career of about two years here was full of struggle and effort for excellence in teaching and research.
In addition to that I have have given tuitions as Home Tutor to GCSE and O/A level individuals and small groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I always have the highest expectations of pupils and always have had, even when it was fashionable for learning to be more "child centred"; this is an approach I have found to pay rich dividends in terms of a pupil's academic and personal development. I have always managed to maintain friendly and relaxed environment tailored exactly to what the students requires. Above all I can offer general education and career advice when it matters the most and have observed that my students usually make fast progress towards their goals and good outputs.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with 3 children, one studying medicine at Oxford, one doing a PhD in physics at Oxford and one who is a graduate physiotherapist working for the NHS. I have a degree in Applied Chemistry and worked in industry developing new drug formulations before having my children. I helped my children throughout the university application process so could give guidance on suitable subject choices for GCSE and A level when considering specific degrees or careers.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught A level chemistry, applied science and environmental science at sixth form colleges. I also taught the International Baccalaureate. For 3 years I taught at international boarding schools where the students have English as a second language so can explain difficult concepts in a simple way. The students completed GCSE and iGCSE Chemistry in one year instead of two so I am used to teaching in a concise manner. I am a chemistry examiner so know what is required to help students to pass exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Every individual learns in a different way and the main advantage of tutoring is being able to be taught in a way which works for you. I would do an assessment of the requirements and aims and then change my approach to each tutee according to their individual needs and preferred ways of learning.

Personal Description:
Hello.

My name is David and I have experience tutoring students of all age groups and levels. I have a Ph.D. in biology (genetics and ecology, specifically). I offer tuition at your home or online via Skype.

Teaching Experience:

I've tutored a number of students in GCSE and A Level biology, tailoring tuition to the students needs, whether it's focusing on understanding specific areas, practicing exam technique or revising.

As a university lecturer I have taught a broad range of biology subjects, including genetics, ecology, evolution, microbiology, human physiology, molecular biology and forensic biology, but I really enjoy teaching any aspect of it. I've tutored many undergraduates on exam technique and scientific writing and I've also helped run statistics workshops so can help in this area too if needed.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly, informal, approachable and enthusiastic. I am also very flexible, as every student is different and often require a different approach.

Studying can get pretty boring, especially if it's just learning to pass an exam rather than really understanding the subject. I prefer to take a creative and engaging approach to help my students gain the knowledge, understanding and writing skills to score brilliantly in their exams and also hope to impart some of my passion for the subject along the way.

Additionally, I have experience teaching students with learning difficulties.

Personal Description:
I'm currently a fourth year medical student at Imperial College London. Throughout my school career I excelled in Maths, Chemistry and Biology, and my performance in these subjects at A-Level ultimately helped me to win a place at medical school. Therefore in addition to tutoring, I am in a good position to advise students who may be thinking about going to university to study for a science or healthcare related degree.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring and mentoring students throughout my school and university life. As a sixth former I provided weekly mentoring to GCSE students at school. I've held various positions of responsibility on a student-led education society at Imperial for 2-3 years, helping to organise and run mock exams and weekly tutorials for medical students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it is important to get to know each student personally, and find out what they want to achieve and how they learn best. I plan my tutorials in advance with clear aims and objectives so that the student knows what to expect from their time with me. Most importantly, I try to empower my students with the confidence to know that they are capable of achieving their goals.

Personal Description:
I am a divorcee with two teenagers and a rather loopy dog (all housetrained!) I discovered the joys of teaching as a parent helper at my children's Infant and Junior schools which inspired me to qualify as a Primary School teacher. Unfortunately I have developed arthritis in my knee which is why I am looking to continue my teaching in a non-school environment. My favourite academic subject is literacy because I love reading books by a wide range of authors, e.g. Austin and Dickens to J K Rowling and Jacqueline Wilson. I love creative crafts e.g. card making, cross stitch, scrapbooking etc. Music plays a big part in my life, including listening and making. I'm a bit of a diva on the recorder and can play the full range from Sopranino to Bass. I love to sing.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher who has worked in a number of schools in Essex in permanent, temporary and supply posts across both KS1 and KS2 over the last four years. My PGCE was obtained through School Centred Initial Teacher Training (which comprised spending a lot of time working directly with children). Prior to that I was a parent helper and governor for 5 years at my children's Infant and Junior Schools. I was Music Leader at my last school for two years and ran the choir. I enjoy teaching all primary subjects. I am keen to also support adults in improving their maths and literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I am familiar with the Primary Curriculum. Hands on learning is great fun and I enjoy practical activities. I love working on a one to one basis as you can build a rapport and really personalise the learning. I enjoy topic work as it gives the learning a context and shows that subjects do not stand alone without any connections/overlap with each other (just like life). I am keen to support both adults and children in mastering literacy and numeracy skills because they are fundamental life skills. Personalised learning means that any gaps can be filled so that an individual has a firm foundation on which to build.

Personal Description:
My name is Darryl and I graduated from The University of Southampton in June 2013 with a degree in Economics and Actuarial Science (A very Statistical and Mathematical based subject). I previously worked for the American Bank Wells Fargo, and I now currently work as a Financial Consultant for Deloitte.

I have tutored for the past 4 years and I have enjoyed great success in helping my students to reach their full potential, and in many times, excel beyond their predicted grades. As a person who has just come out of education I have plenty of helpful tricks and tips to doing well in exams. I am also very familiar with the school curriculum as I have younger siblings, whom I also tutor. What sets me apart from most is that as well as tutoring my students, I take the role of a mentor, to motivate, encourage and guide them towards success.

As a young teenager I was a student who was pressured by my parents do excel in school, this sometimes caused me to have a more rebellious attitude towards my studies. Thus, I realise the various difficulties many students face throughout their studies, and I believe that having this experience provides me with the ability to connect to students who either are struggling with their studies, or are disengaged with their school work.

I achieved straight A's and A*'s at GCSE at a very poor school, I then got offered a scholarship to attend an independent school where I achieved A's in Mathematics, Physics and Economics. Finally I completed my studies at University with an upper second class degree with honours. I now am on a gap year and about to start a teaching course with the vision of becoming a Secondary School teacher in the near future.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Primary school and GCSE students whilst I was in my final year in sixth form, I then went on to teach A-level students whilst I was at University. Throughout those years my proudest achievement has been motivating my students and changing their attitudes towards studying and school. I have been able to get my students to work much harder then they (or their parents) ever expected them to. I believe the reason for is that I am young and provide a more friend-like support, as opposed to a demanding parent or teacher. By doing this my students' feel that I can relate to them and thus we establish a respected relationship. In addition I have also tutored students for entrance exams (e.g. 11+) and I am happy to say I have had great success in doing this also.

I have travelled to tutor many of my students, as well as tutoring some of them in my own home. I have always catered to the preferences of my students and their parents and I continue to do so to get the best out of my students. I like to finish each of my lessons by briefing the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the student's ongoing progress and my future goals for them.

Tutoring Approach:

I spend a lot of time planning for sessions so that my students get the very best out of each lesson. I am a very organised person, and I like to set short term and long term goals for myself and my students. I also like to keep track of the performance of my students, both for my needs and theirs. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and I work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. I make sure that my students are comfortable with me by building a friendly and trusting relationship; I believe this enables my students to feel easy and allows them to ask me many questions, which leads to a better learning experience.

I adapt my approach depending on my students' learning style as I feel this is the key to successful teaching. I have had a range of different students, from those who were demotivated and disengaged, to those who needed me for that extra help to reach their goals.

Past papers is a very important part of my lessons, once I am able to cover the concepts and theories of the subject I swiftly turn the attention of my pupils to past papers. I believe practising these papers are definitely the best way of achieving great exam results.

I OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR MULTIPLE HOURS OF TUITION.

Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Tamara and I am a student at the University of Warwick. Currently, I am on my Intercalated Year - a year taken in between Second and Third year where you are expected to work full time in an industry in which you take interest. I am currently working as a Trainee in the Reproductive Medicine Dept. of Coventry Hospital, and I will be doing so until July 2014

I have always have a great passion for Biology and Chemistry, and took them both along with Geography up to A2 level. I am a kind and enthusiastic tutor, and I hope to show all my students this though our time together.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience working as a mentor in my secondary school whilst in Sixth Form, to support the younger years. In addition to this I have run summer camps yearly for ages 4-16 and have worked and been responsible for groups of children and teenagers of all ages.

Currently, I am an Ementor for a group of 6 year 13 student, a job I received through working as a Student Ambassador at University. I have weekly online sessions with my students which are used to help them into higher education by talking about revision tips, helping them structure their coursework, and most recently talking through personal statements.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient person and take the time to clearly explain things. I find that diagrams particularly help with understanding complex topics, as well as representing basic concepts that can be kept by the students as a solid grounding to a subject, and then elaborated on further in the future. With any new student I am keen for them to tell me particularly what they would like some assistance with and how best they feel they learn, so that over the first few sessions we can build a suitable style of teaching/learning to help the student in the way they feel comfortable with.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Sophie. I am currently on my gap year working at IBM, in September 2015 I will be joining Edinburgh University to study Biochemistry. I love to spend my spare time either on the hockey pitch, in the kitchen or doing some art.

Teaching Experience:

Science Buddy for 2 years at school
Summer Camp Leader for 3 years running
Leader at Cubs, Brownies, Beavers and Rainbows
Work experience at an Adult Learning Centre

Tutoring Approach:

I think the key to being a good tutor is finding out how someone learns. I personally found certain aspects of learning a challenge during my time at school and was forced to overcome these by finding methods that work for my learning style. It is through this I have become to understand how important it is for pupils to learn in a way which suits them.

My tutoring style is specifically tailored to the individual, I believe this, coupled with my clear communication and determination is the way to produce results.

Over the years through my experiences abroad doing charity work in Ghana to my role as Deputy Head Girl at my secondary school I have gained interpersonal skills that ensure I develop productive relationships with pupils. This makes them excited for their lessons rather than bored!

Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Maisie, I stay in the Paisley area and I currently studying for a Masters degree in Chemsitry at the University of Glasgow. My passion is science and as I have spent a long time studying it, I would love to be able to pass on my knowledge and experience to help students who are perhaps about to sit exams or just looking for extra practise to understand their subject better.

My studies take up a huge part of my life! But I still manage to fit in a part-time job and a few sessions at the gym each week. My favourite part of my course is getting to use the lab and scientific equipment, it's always great fun to carry out experiments and see the results! I am a member of the Institute of Physics and The Royal Society of Chemistry and spend much of my free time carrying out my own research using the extra resources and benefits membership provides and of course this is something that I would utilise during a tutorial session.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst I have had no formal teaching experience, I have studied various science subjects (chemistry, physics, maths and biology (and human biology)) up to university level and have always succeeded in these areas.

Teaching is something that I am considering as a career choice and so I would love to be able to gain some experience now by helping others succeed.

Tutoring Approach:

My focus would not just be on the material that is needing to be covered but how you feel about the subject as a whole, your strengths and weaknesses and what you enjoy about it the most. It's always so much easier to understand and study something that you enjoy!

Past papers are an important resource for any student but I have always found making use of the Internet and watching informative videos are a great way to learn! Plus I have many textbooks and notes that I have from my time studying that would be a great resource too!
