Personal Description:
Unlike most tutors, I am a qualified and successful Physics teacher.

I am an experienced and fully qualified secondary school teacher in Science with a specialism in Physics. I have vast experience of tutoring from year 7 up to A-level and unlike other tutors I am also a qualified teacher who is currently teaching in the classroom. This allows me to be up-to-date with curriculum changes, coursework requirements and thorough knowledge of areas which students struggle with in all aspects of Science. I am also a six form school tutor which means that I understand the requirements for entry into six form and the UCAS process.

I am originally from Wales and have been living in North London for 14 years. I consider myself to be friendly and conscientious. Education is an important tool and I enjoy working with children and seeing them be the best that they can be.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently a secondary school Physics teacher with 6+ years experience. I am also responsible for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at my school. Both of my parents were teachers and tutors (Head of Department in Science and SENCO) whilst I was growing up. Therefore teaching and education have always been an important part of my life.
I am a teacher and have taught 11-19 year old students in three comprehensive mixed schools in various boroughs in London including Hillingdon Borough, Camden and Haringey.
I am currently tutoring a number of students to achieve their best in AS Physics (AQA/EDEXCEL/OCR board) and teaching A-level OCR Physics at school. I have vast experience teaching KS3 Science and KS4 every board.

Tutoring Approach:

Each child is different, so I like to design a plan after first finding out where the problems arise. Every child is different and I find that you cannot treat every child in the same way. I follow the syllabuses and specification, as these are my main tools as well as past exam papers........practice makes perfect!

It is great to see their confidence growing in the subject and hopefully their enjoyment!

Personal Description:
I graduated from Loughborough University with an honours degree in Industrial Chemistry. I then went on to do three years research in Photochemistry to gain a Masters degree from Kingston University. I also have another masters degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Aston in Birmingham and a Masters in Business Administration from Kingston University. I have over 25 years of industrial experience. During my career I took a pro-active role in training and mentoring new graduates joining the firms I worked for, GEC Telecommunications Ltd and Fujitsu plc.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 14 years of teaching experience in business studies at the Open University teaching at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. I have been tutoring KS1 to KS3, GCSE and A-Level students in Science subjects and Mathematics for 3 years. I also tutor English at KS1 to KS3 and GCSE levels. At present I am tutoring KS3, GCSE and A Level students in English, Science Subjects and Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a mentoring and nurturing approach to teaching. I prepare students both at GCSE and A Levels to sit examinations by the three main examining boards in England, namely, Aqa, OCR and Edexcel. I prefer to tutor from home and only take on a very limited number of students so that I can give my full attention to their examination success. I have tutored students who have been deemed not to be high achievers by their schools, but have subsequently gone on to gaining A grades at GCSE. I am highly motivated and nothing gives me greater pleasure than to get letters from students thanking me for helping them to gain examination success. I tutor from home as I have found students perform best in this situation and I also have access to all my teaching resources as necessary to tailor each lesson to suit a particular students needs. Although I feel tutoring from my home is a good approach I am prepared to travel to a student's home but will of course need to charge travel costs.

Personal Description:
I am a former Head of Science with over 10 years' teaching experience. I enjoy teaching and tutoring and would like to concentrate on tutoring alone for the foreseeable future.

I offer solid, comprehensive, support in Science and Maths for all the English Examination boards - including the International Baccalaureate. I can (and do) also enter/administer/teach/ and prepare students for GCSE/A-level Science, and Maths, examinations - privately (outside of the school environment). This service could be invaluable to students with either: special needs; want more control over their own education, or more simply just need a second chance to achieve their aspirations.

Teaching Experience:

Over ten years' experience teaching biology, chemistry and physics to A-level. Also, about seven years' experience teaching mathematics to A-level and about five years' experience working with special needs students - particularly Asperger syndrome.

Plus, over three years tutoring experience in science and mathematics - from SAT level to A-level.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to work with the knowledge students already possess and build from there: expect friendly learning targets, pre-tests, progress tests and honest progress reports on strengths and weakness and plenty of homework.

I am very calm, patient and supportive with my students. My lessons are structured to provide exactly what you need to know, well explained, and tailored to meet each student's specific needs: includes a variety of hands on material and varied learning styles supported with after lesson homework.

I provide good support with English and Maths literacy along with plenty of advice/hands-on experience with structuring/answering examination questions - to get students solidly prepared for their examinations.

Personal Description:
A highly effective teacher; experienced, well organised, motivated, enthusiastic, with good sense of humour.

I establish rapport with my students. In my long career in teaching, I have learned how to make the most complex concepts in science 'digestible'. My motto is: 'Excellence in Education'.

I am a member of Pi Lambda Theta (International Honour Society for Educators).

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Teacher / Lecturer, and have taught Biology and Chemistry for over thirty years in Secondary, and Further/Higher Education in the US, the EU, and the UK. I have taught the AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and the International Baccalaureate specifications.

In addition to teaching students, I have trained teachers, as well.

Tutoring Approach:

While my Bachelor's Degree is in Biology and Chemistry, my Master's Degree is in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction, which means I have trained in designing and delivering effective lesson plans, as well as a complete curriculum. I design my instruction taking into account the student's learning style. The 'one size fits all' type of teaching is responsible for the failure of many students. Every student can learn and can do well, provided the teaching style accommodates the student's learning style, and there are no 'gaps' in what is prerequisite knowledge for taking a certain course.

Knowledge builds on pre-existing knowledge. I make certain that my students really understand and appreciate that. I diagnose any 'gaps' in content knowledge that my students may have, and I 'fill' them, providing a solid foundation for my students to build on.

Study skills, which figure prominently in my teaching, and exam technique, along with a well-rounded, in-depth knowledge of content, provide the key to success.

At the end of the course, my students not only do they have what they need to tackle the Biology or Chemistry Exam, but also a wealth of learning skills which they can apply to other subjects as well, and which they will find essential in all their future academic studies.

Educational technology supplements my instruction. The content in every session is presented on PowerPoint with quality images. I clarify every point and make certain my student has 'grasped' the present concept before I proceed with the next. Where appropriate, the PPT presentation is followed by a brief video which makes the content 'come alive'. My PowerPoint presentations, as well as my notes on PDF or Word files are available for my students after the lesson.

I finish the lesson practicing exam - style questions. It goes without saying that regular revision is important, and I provide my students with lots of past exam papers.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Kirsten I am a 3rd year Psychology student at University of Bristol.
I am looking for both secondary school level tutoring roles, adult/undergraduate Psychology instruction as well as any study skill tuition including the 11+ exam.
At the moment I am also looking for Summer tuition opportunities (especially for those going from AS to A2!!!)
I am a confident, professional person who is outgoing and passionate about education.

I am a fully qualified driver and own a car, being happy to tutor after school at pupils' homes within the Cheltenham and Gloucester area.
Tutoring in Gloucester of further afield incurs a small petrol charge (5 Gloucs, 7 further afield).

FOR ONLINE TUTORING - please knock 2.50 per hour off the stated price, but I will ask the admin fee for this site is paid by the tutee.

I will happily provide one-off online sessions 30mins+ to cover individual topics or help with essays/revision. These sessions will be charged at 2.50 less per hour for all subjects.
I will also happily do whole day sessions which so far most individuals have opted to use as multi-subject revision for upcoming exams.

I hold a current DBS certificate on the government update service open for general use and would be happy to supply this to parents/prospective tutees.

Teaching Experience:

I have 5 younger siblings all of whom I have cared for in the past due to a large age gap. I previously picked my siblings up from school, and helped with homework on a daily basis.

I currently have 4 tutees from schools in both Cheltenham and Gloucester (including the grammar schools), all my current students are girls studying for a mixture of subjects at both GCSE and A-level. I have 1 further tutee studying with me for the 11+ exam.

During my time at school I was an instructor in the cadet core, teaching basic first aid, shooting and RAF syllabus for 3 years to cadets aged 12-18. I have since returned and am now an adult instructor in both the CCF and outdoor education department.

I also have previous volunteer experience working at a special needs preschool in Cheltenham and would be happy to tutor children with additional needs. My degree specialty is in dyslexia and I am able to provide tailored material, techniques and specialist guidance for individuals with this diagnosis.

I am planning to teach Sciences and Psychology in the future.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is just to be as flexible as needed, and to tailor my teaching style to the individual.

Whilst my Psychology background means I come with the knowledge of what constitutes an effective learning/revision technique; I appreciate individual differences in style.

I also appreciate that everybody has a different experience and level of skill with technology. Whilst I would aspire to include interactive learning tools that can be extended outside of our sessions, I understand that this is not for everyone and will happily tutor in a more conventional style if this means my student can take more away from our time. Through online access I provide lots of revision and syllabus materials to all my tutees.

At the heart of my tutoring style is to accept that often a lack of understanding comes not from a lack of ability in a subject, but from the explanation that has been given being unsuited to that person. I focus on breaking concepts down to simple and memorable steps/parts and reviewing them until a full understanding is reached. I also feel it is very important not just to have a piece of knowledge, but to both understand WHY something is how it is and HOW it can be applied across subjects/concepts.

Personal Description:
I am a second year Biochemistry student at Queen Mary University. My hours are very flexible and I am committed and reliable. I love tutoring, and understand the importance of trust between the parents and student, and the tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I have 2 years of tutoring experience, teaching students between the ages of 10 and 16. I have taught students taking GCSEs, internal exams, year 6 SATs, and Secondary school entrance exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student benefits from a different learning experience. I aim to highlight and work on the weaker topics and the work that the student is struggling with. I always aim to give constructive feedback to both parents and students as it makes the sessions a lot more valuable. I am always contactable by phone if the student has a question they're stuck on etc.

Personal Description:
I am 33 years old and married. I am a Science teacher at a well known state school in Hackney.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching whilst living in Asia. I taught English for over 5 years and predominantly through tutoring. I then began teaching I.B Biology at British International school in Shanghai for two years. I have now been teaching in the UK for 4 years and have taught OCR, AQA and Edexcel GCSE science as well as OCR AS/A2 Biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I consider myself to be extremely friendly and personable and think its very important to make sessions fun and enjoyable whilst really pushing students to achieve above and beyond their expected grades. Developing a strong bond with the students so that they are comfortable is extremely important to me. However, I also feel that students must be able to feel that they are making progress at school. As such I like to make sure that I am teaching on top of what they are learning at school. I proactively teach materials before they are taught at school so they are more able to engage and excel in the classroom. I also like to help prep students for exams by going over past papers together and building exam techniques/strategies. I like to show presentations through my computer and work though activity sheets and past papers.

Personal Description:
School year 15/16 reflection: This was a fantastic year, as I saw all five of my students succeed, either achieving their grade or even better, exceeding it. Also well done to one student that was really struggling with her entrance exams but has passed and is now one step closer to becoming a teacher! I have had some great feedback and learnt many new learning techniques which will enable me to have an even better 16/17 year! Apply now for the coming year!

Hello!! Are you looking for an intensive revision session before a daunting exam? Or are you looking for long term assistance through an academic year? If so then look no further! I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Liverpool, having already achieved a first class honours degree in Biomedical Science. This interest in Science stems from three A levels (grades A's and B's) in Biology, Chemistry and Maths with all my exams passed at GCSE level. This passion for life sciences has enabled me to gain knowledge in various areas of science and I am offering to tutor you/your child to help achieve similar goals. Studying medicine allows me to keep up with ever changing research whilst maintaining the basics learnt throughout school. Aside from my academic life, I am a keen rugby player, play the piano and socialise with friends.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my university life it has always been encouraged to teach our peers through case based learning and PowerPoint presentations. Therefore I have taught to individuals, but also to small groups and even whole classrooms. On the other end of the scale, I have tutored Maths to a year 6 pupil that was struggling to make the grades in this one subject, and by the end of the year she was competing with top of the class. I have also taught English in Asia to students aged 4-18. I am sure you will agree that this is a diverse range of experience but makes me confident that I could be a suitable candidate for you or someone you wish to be tutored. I have also been part of a University society which aids in teaching medicine to younger people hoping to take such a career path later on in life.

Tutoring Approach:

Having tutored people as young as key stage 2, I am able to adapt to the needs of the Tutee and instead of enforcing my learning techniques upon a person; I gauge the needs and learning styles of the individual which allows them to develop their own skills whilst trying new ones. Personally, I like the use of short, concise notes (flash card style) and colourful posters which enable me to visualise my notes in an exam. However, I understand this is not suitable for all people and would be more than happy for tutee's to make extensive notes. Having performed research and undertaking multiple entrance exams (GAMSAT, UKCAT) I have learnt to quick read which I can also teach. I can also help with University style interviews (especially medicine) if necessary. My teaching style is very informal (within reason) as I believe that strict lessons can often be counterproductive.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced tutor and current A level and GCSE teacher with over 22 years experience.
I have had a lot of success with my private tutoring, having helped many students achieve the grades they need to gain entry to the university courses of their choice - including medicine, veterinary medicine and dentistry.
I have helped students in all the main exam boards including AQA, OCR and Edexcel

I have excellent communication skills and a very approachable manner which quickly puts students at ease.

I am married and have four children, three of which have passed through A levels so I know what it is like as a parent and teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a secondary and sixth form for 24 yrs and am currently a GCSE and A level Biology and Psychology teacher as well as a sixth form tutor.

I have been tutoring Biology and Psychology for over 20 yrs with great success with students from both the state and private sector. I have helped students from Collyer's; The Weald School; Steyning Grammer; Seaford College; Worth School; Farlington and Reigate Grammer to name a few.

My subject knowledge is very good being educated to BSc (Hons) in Biology and MSc in Psychology

I am very flexible and will either tutuor in my own home or am happy to travel to you.

Tutoring Approach:

My main focus has been tutoring and teaching A level Biology and more recently Psychology.and have been very successful in helping students of all abilities to improve their grades to allow them to make their next step in their education.

My strengths are that I have very good communication skills and put students at ease allowing for the greatest progress to be made.

I focus on two main areas. Firstly in breaking down theory areas to make it understandable. I get students to learn key words and use revision spider diagrams to see the overview of difficult topics so they don't get lost in the theory. Then I use these spider diagrams to help them select accurately the correct theory areas to answer exam based questions.

Secondly I focus on exam technique, deconstructing questions to focus on how to structure an answer and then to select the correct theory to use in the answer.

I can offer a selection of services.

A) simple tuition: focusing of understanding specific areas as the student needs

B). Tutoring programme: setting up and organising a tutoring programme for several lessons that will cover, systematically, a larger area of the subject.

C). Revision programme: creating a revision programme with the student and managing the students revision programme in the subject (s). This will take the student up to the exam.

I Include setting and marking exam based H/W's.

I also include revision material and workbooks as well as past paper packs with mark schemes.

I have been very successful with students from those wanting to take up Medicine, Veterinary or Dentistry courses, to those who just want a pass to everyone in between.

Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Nathalie and I'm an 18 year old student studying for my final year of A-Levels.

I'm a very approchable, enthusiastic individual who has been educated both in the UK and in the USA, and so I can appreciate a diverse range of backgrounds as well as teaching styles.

My aim is to provide an enthusiastic yet progressive learning environment, in which I can help the tutee achieve the best they can while they also develop a strong interest in the subject taught.

With interest comes confidence, and with confidence comes success!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Maths, Science, and French to younger family friends and family members (age range of 6-15) in a dedicated and professional manner.

The variation in age of the people I have taught has helped me become more empathetic and has allowed me to adjust teaching style to meet the needs of the tutee.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe having a passion for the subject you teach can really amplify the teaching experience for the tutor, but more importantly the learning experience for the tutee.

I will teach in an encouraging and patient way, yet offer light constructive criticism when necessary, and in order to assess progress, I will be providing past questions and mini tests frequently to make sure the tutee is learning.

I am optimistic that all tutees, no matter their background or circumstances, can achieve and become the best they can be with self-confidence as well as education from determined and motivated tutors.
