About Zoubiya:
I am a secondary school mathematics teacher. I am an excellent communicator and will try every way to make knowledge and skills stick in your head! I believe learning is about building understanding for a subject in a methodical and consistent way.

Teaching Experience:

Another tutee of mine was taking GCSE Statistics in Year 10, I tutored him and managed to pull his A up to an A*!

Tutoring Approach:

I have a clear, friendly but firm teaching style. I enjoy the challenge of working with young people and find their learning experiences extremely rewarding.

About Amalia:
I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I came to England in December 2007 to join my husband whom I married in January 2008. Other than teaching I spend my time gardening and singing in a choir.

Teaching Experience:

Teacher training for primary, secondary and continuing education courses of study has made me familiar with the needs of students as well as with the educational system both at home and abroad (IGCSE preparation and Cambridge PET, FCE and CAE) As a teacher I also learnt to be patient and clear thinking.
My teaching experience has brought me into contact with people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
Teacher training for primary, secondary and continuing education courses of study has made me familiar with the needs of students and I learnt to be patient and clear thinking.
I also took some teaching training courses such as New Trends and Teaching Young Learners (Embassy CES - Hastings) as part of my personal- and professional- plan of surpassing myself.

Tutoring Approach:

While I was doing my teacher training one of the subjects was Portuguese as a Foreign Language. I'd always thought Spanish and Portuguese were quite similar but little did I know it was going to be that hard. After a year of trying hard and with the help of our teacher I realize what a student must feel when faced with such a challenge.
Teaching is what I am; it defines me as a person. I find it demanding but highly rewarding; I think that is why I've chosen this profession.

About Sophie:
I am a naive French speaker with a passion for teaching. I come from Orleans in France, where I have just finished a degree in Science of Language, specialising in French as a foreign language.

I am organised, reliable and very encouraging to my students!

Teaching Experience:

I taught French in the Netherlands for four months in a secondary school in 2007 where I assisted the teachers in large classes and took smaller oral groups by myself for which I was fully responsible.

This past year I have been teaching French to a small class of adults on a weekly basis along side my degree.

Tutoring Approach:

I put a strong emphasis on speaking French as I believe that once confidence is built up in this area, the rest (writing, listening and reading) all follow more easily. Of course, I also do plenty of reading, writing and listening exercises. All lessons are tailored to individual needs.

About Paul:
I'm a friendly and professional native speaker who can help you with all aspects of your spoken and written English. Classes are tailored to your specific needs, for example:

- Exam preparation (for example IELTS, CAE, CPE, A-level, GCSE)
- English for academic study, including essay writing
- Business / professional English
- English through literature
- English through current affairs
- Grammar and punctuation (for both UK and overseas students)

Advanced students from overseas are especially welcome. First meeting free of charge.

Teaching Experience:

I have over five years of teaching experience in the UK, Poland, Ukraine and Belarus. I have taught at universities as well as at private language schools, and I have a great deal of experience of teaching one-to-one.

Tutoring Approach:

The great thing about one-to-one is that it all depends on the student! If you know exactly what you want to focus on, we can go straight into it. For students with less specific needs - for example international students who wish to practice their speaking - it is more a process of exploration. Over the first few lessons we will work together to discover your interests, your weaknesses and your strengths; I can then adapt the lessons so that you are learning what is really useful to you.

Teaching Experience:

I had been teaching in a private language school as an English teacher and a Chinese teacher for 3 years in China. Listening comes first. Learning a new language gives human beings another chance to be a child who learns to speak by listening. My approach of teaching begins with Listening. I will give you the sound of a new word first instead of the meaning of the word. By imitating the learning process of the mother tongue, I will make it easier to learn a second language.

About Samantha:
I have just finished my A level studies with a view to studying Philosophy at Bristol University next academic year. I have a friendly and enthusiastic demeanour and endeavour to be challenging, without being patronising, to my tutees - a quality that I have found extremely helpful in my own teachers.

Teaching Experience:

I have no formal teaching experience, but have volunteered to schemes within my own school to help the development of younger children with reading and numeracy difficulties. This was invaluable experience in the different methods of teaching students with a variety of skills and abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a passion for each of the subjects that I offer and find that teaching others helps to improve my own skills. First hand experience of the current education system and its techniques has taught me that my approach to tutoring must suit the needs and learning style of the tutee. As such, I insist on knowing the learning preferences of tutees before tailoring my approach to them, as well as receiving regular feedback on how successful my efforts are.
