About Yolanda:
I'm a 33 years old Spaniard living in London since 2000...time flies...

Love London and travelling..and most of all meeting new people from different parts of the world..and teaching Spanish is a great way to do that!

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Teacher with QTS status. I have a degree in Psychology with a speciality in Communication and Education. I studied my degree in Salamanca, lots of foreign students come to the city to learn Spanish, and that's how I started teaching Spanish when I was about 19, and I meet lots of people and had lots of fun doing it!
Now in London I work as a Special Educational Needs teacher a challenging but rewarding job, and my experience with SEN has help me to understand the different needs of the students and the huge amount of possibilities in which you can teach something, and the fact that everyone is able to learn however unfeasible it might seemso have faith and come learn with me!

In my spare time I teach Spanish in 1:1 lessons and I have experience with GCSE and A level exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach all levels, beginners, intermediate and advanced. Whether you want to expand your vocabulary, deepen your knowledge of the language or revise for your GCSE or A levels,or just go on holiday.

First of all, I try to identify the student needs, so as to design the course according to your language needs and specific purposes for learning. Nevertheless, I always emphasize communication, since that's the purpose of language. My teaching approach varies according to your profile:enquiry-based learning, integrative learning, Direct Method (teaching through the foreign language). I always choose a method with which you feel comfortable. Among my teaching techniques I use debates about interesting topics, games, free conversation and writing exercises, etc

Grammar is explained clearly and related to the English language so that there is no confusion, particularly regarding tenses. Pronunciation and vocabulary are covered with the objective of being able to converse effectively and confidently.

About Roisin:
I am a 24 year old Irish woman who is currently training to be an actress at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Before moving to London, I have been involved in a wide variety of things. I studied Law and International Relations before living in China for six months and then returning to Ireland to begin drama classes. I am a major music fan who idolises Bob Dylan and love the band Kings of Leon. I love watching films and reading, and loved living in Barcelona for a summer a few years ago which allowed me to spend most of my time in the sea.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a Foreign Language to children in China and to teenage and adult learners in Ireland. This also involved one-on-one classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in adapting my style to suit the learner as the most important thing is to engage him/her in what they are studying. I find that once they are interested in a subject, everything flows from there. As a drama student I tend to use creativity to make things more fun.

About Teresa:
I am a friendly and easy going person who believes that everyone has the ability to learn. I am passionate about the outdoors and through teaching in schools I have often used the outdoors as a learning environment.

I have a degree in music and my PGCE primary is a mathematics specialism, although I am happy to home tutor in all areas of the primary curriculum.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified primary school teacher with 6 years experience working in two contrasting primary schools. I am now employed teaching year 7's in a secondary school and working with young people who find learning challenging.

I have a current CRB and am a member of the General Teaching Council.

Tutoring Approach:

My primary approach to teaching is that if children are enjoying what they are learning then the information is more likely to be retained. I believe that it is important for a child to be involved in their own learning, encouraging the children to identify the areas that they are weaker in also enables the children to learn. By also finding the areas that the children are successful in and from there drawing out the skills that are making them successful and working with the child to transfer these skills in order to be achieve!

About Lisa:
I have recently finshed a masters degree in physics with first class honours. After completing my degree I undertook a fixed contract placement at Leeds Dental Institiute as a research technician in X-Ray synchrtron diffraction on human dental enamel. Since the contract has ended I have returned to university to start a Phd, my field of research is condensed matter physics, and I specialise in the field of magnetism.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring A-Level students for six months. I also supervise laboratory's at the university and help in problem tutorials across all levels.
During my time at the university I demonstrated physics experiments to memebers of the public as part of enrichment programs.

Tutoring Approach:

With all my clients I have an intial half hour session where both myself and the student can discuss the best approach to teaching. I believe that all students learn in different ways and it is important to establish the method which will suit that student.
As a basic outline I usually teach each lesson, and then finish with a series of questions that check understanding and which help to develop problem solving skills. As the exam date get closer, I change to intense revision lessons, which usually involve answering past papers.

I have helped my younger sister and friends with their work and revision over the last year and during sixth form. I have lots of experience of working with children so am patient and a good communicator.

Tutoring Approach:

I know from experience that different people learn in different ways so use a number of teaching methods. These include oral and visual presentations, rhyme and repition, games and quizes, formal testing and writing practice answers. I passionately believe that all children can reach their full potential if they have the right motivation behind them but more importantly the self-confidence in their ability. About Sandra:
I have a B.A. in French and Spanish from Vassar College in New York and a P.G.C.E from Cambridge University here in England.
After 20 years of working in the Performing Arts, I know something about communicating with people, and after 9 years of teaching French and Spanish to Y9-Y13 students in a state secondary school, I know a lot about teaching and learning a foreign language.

I met and was enchanted by Latin, French and Spanish before I was 14; at 19, I learned German; at 26 I had to learn Italian and now at 60, I'm learning Greek. The enchantment remains, and the challenge of acquiring another language with which to communicate still excites me.

Teaching Experience:

9 years of teaching French and Spanish to Y9-Y13 students in a state secondary school in Suffolk.
I have coached individuals privately (and very successfully!!) for GCSE and A Level.
I have taught adults who needed to learn the language as part of their plans for their future retirement.

Tutoring Approach:

Language is a powerful resource. We use it to express our feelings, needs, likes, dislikes, hopes, dreams, doubts and fears; to communicate them with our families, friends, acquaintances, colleagues and people we meet in the street.
When speaking, reading or writing we use the sentence.
The structure of the sentence is grammar.
Grammar is the bedrock foundation of language. Any language.
So - my tutoring style and approach are based on learning a language through its grammar.
Talking a lot, and using humour, books, videos, newspapers, the Internet and your own desire to learn, I can help you to do really well in GCSE and/or A Level exams; to prepare for University; to improve on what you already know; or to learn the language from scratch.

I have had main responsibility for AS/A2 chemistry teaching at a large state school and I have also had pastoral experience as a form tutor for Year 10, Year 11 and Year 7 classes.
Passionately committed to all my students and offering experience of teaching students with a wide range of abilities.
Will travel to students' own home and available at weekends, evenings and for some week-day sessions. Birmingham, Solihull and West Midlands areas.

Teaching Experience:

Qualified teacher with 3 years experience of teaching in state schools. I have taught in an inner city school envirionment and have also taught students of high ability in an 'outstanding' school achieving 100% 5A*-C GCSE passes. Experience of teaching at KS3, 4 and 5. AQA GCSE science (separate sciences, dual award, core science, additional science and additional applied). At AS/A2 level I have taught chemistry (OCR Salters and OCR). Also qualified to teach AS/A2 biology. I am an established teacher on the Salters chemistry camps for GCSE students and have been accepted as an assessor for the OCR examination board.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to offer assistance which is student-led wherever possible. Students are usually well aware of areas of difficulty and of their own preferred learning styles. My aim is to provide a service that is tailored to the learning style of the student and focused on their individual needs. I expect that the tutor session will be informal and relaxed but also intense and productive. Each session should encourage the student that progress is being made, that classroom teaching has been re-enforced and that scientific concepts have been understood fully.

About Philip:
I am a single 36 year old who lives in Sheffield. I am a highly intelligent graduate who likes to keep fit by playing football and tennis. I care deeply about the environment and recycle as much as I can. I have travelled widely, from America through Eastern Europe to the Far East and Australia and as they say, travel broadens the mind! I was a PGCE student at Canterbury Christ Church University for 4 months last year which helped me to gain the equivalent experience of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant. I am a friendly, hard-working and down-to-earth individual who enjoys learning new things.

Teaching Experience:

October 2008. Teaching Assistant at St John the Baptist Junior School, Penistone, Sheffield for 4 days. For 2 days, worked as Learning Support Assistant (LSA)at Barnsley College.
June 2008, worked as LSA at Doncaster College.
October-December 2007, worked as trainee teacher with Year 5 class at St Marys C of E Primary School in Dover.
2006. Voluntary teaching assistant for 2 months with Years 3,4 and 5 at Prince Edward Primary School, Sheffield. Voluntary teaching assistant with Year 5 at Dronfield Primary School, Baslow, Derbyshire for 1 month.
December 2005, voluntary teaching assistant at Dobcroft Infant/Junior School, Sheffield.
April 2004-June 2005, Basic Skills tutor in Norfolk Park, Sheffield and Sheffield City Centre.
June 2002, voluntary English teacher to a young Pakistani man for Sheffield Association for the Voluntary Teaching of English.

Tutoring Approach:

I know you have to enjoy learning in order to get the most out of it. Therefore I would come across to my tutees as relaxed, with a desire to make learning fun and interesting. It may help the tutee to stress that learning is a habit, you can learn anything if you have good study skills. I haver spent most of my life in Education and so have studied many different subjects; For example, French as part of my degree course and Spanish to 'A' level standard at evening class, and Year 1 Italian. I have trained as a Basic Skills tutor in Literacy and Numeracy and also taught these subjects to primary school children and young adults. This is what makes me a good tutor, having gained experience of working with different age groups in different settings- Colleges, community centres, primary schools. I know a lot of school subject type information but also know how to explain it in layman's terms.

About Ian:
I am a professional composer and teacher currently studying part-time for a Masters in Music Production and Composition for film and TV.

I teach all styles of piano from classical, to pop, to jazz. I will teach beginners through to advanced performers and am happy to pass on my experiences of performance practice and my tips for overcoming performance anxiety, something I personally suffered with and overcame.

I can also provide tuition in composition, orchestration, harmony, music theory and music production techniques.

As an extra, I also teach acoustic guitar for popular music at a reduced rate.

Teaching Experience:

15+ years piano performance experience.
5+ years private piano tuition experience at all age levels and abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to keep my lessons are informal and friendly, however during the first lesson, I sit down with the pupil or parent and discuss their aims and motivations. I will then push the pupil as hard or as soft as is needed to reach their goals.

I focus primarily on the development of an excellent finger technique from day one as bad technique is very difficult to undo later on and may prevent the pupil from fully achieving their potential.
