About Eve:
Currently employed as a full time teacher in a Secondary School. After a drama degree and a Masters, I trained as an English teacher and I am currently Head of Media Studies as well as teaching KS3 and GCSE English and Literature.

Teaching Experience:

PGCE in English, have just completed my first year and been promoted to Head of Department.

Tutoring Approach:

I can work on key skills or help students with the units they are covering in lessons at school, whichever they require.
I think students benefit significantly from going through things that worry them one-on-one, something their subject teachers do not have time or opportunity to do. I think students' understanding and confidence can be massively increased by a tutor who can look carefully at their work to identify key areas for development and provide the individual with strategies to improve these areas.

About Leanne:
I am a BSc Psychology graduate from the University of Manchester (2.1). I gained a first in my dissertation which is due to be published later this year. I am 23 years old, friendly, approachable and practical.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored other psychology students during my university course. Last year I tutored an A2 psychology student, partly in content and largely on exam technique. He achieved an A and was accepted into Oxford University.

Tutoring Approach:

Informal and pupil orientated. I like to work to suit the needs and learning style of the individual. Psychology is a fascinating subject if discussion and questioning are central. Like most subjects if approached in the wrong way it can become stale and boring, which is when people can struggle. Understanding is key in terms of success in a subject. Also a good focus on exam preparation and technique.

About Vishal:
I am a 25 year old male teacher educated in the UK

Teaching Experience:

I am currently in my third year of teaching and am a full-time Teacher of Physics at one of the top selective schools in the country (rated as having the best Physics department in the country in 2005). I have experience teaching the full range of abilities and a proven track record within this range.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach with a very visual and hands-on style. I am very clear, friendly and approachable and if a concept is not understood then I consider myself to be at fault!

A major concern parents have when sending their child to a tutor is the safety of their child, naturally as an employed teacher checks in the form of a CRB have already been made. In addition to this security guarantee I will be making available online web-cam services if you wish to 'check-up' on your child at anytime during the lesson.

About Alexander:
I am a Chartered Physicist working in Nuclear Engineering. I am looking to provide tuition in Science (my speciality being physics) and Maths in the Wigan / Greater Manchester area.

Teaching Experience:

I have been providing private tuition for over two years to GCSE Science candidates. I also periodically give technical training or mentoring support in my employment.

Tutoring Approach:

I would always seek to agree the frequency and level of tuition between tutee, parent/guardian (if tutee under 18) and myself, but with total flexibility throughout the tuition period. Realistic goals can be set as part of this process. Feedback on progress and gaps in knowledge is provided as often as required, but I do not see it as the tutor's role to criticise or place undue pressure on the tutee.

About Remus:
I'm a professional tutor and philologist with a history of getting results fast through a self-designed language teaching programme that throws away such antiquated ideas as learning by rote and emphasises learning through interaction and activities.

Teaching Experience:

In my four years of teaching at all levels, I've had a 100% rate of success, with beginners getting to an advanced level in a matter of a few months. Previous tutees have gone on to pass exams, home and foreign universities, and to work abroad in a country of their chosen language.

Tutoring Approach:

An individual approach is the cornerstone of my approach to tutoring. I personally tailor my tutelage for each student, taking into account their strengths, weaknesses, interests and aspirations. I dislike the approach of teaching a few phrases by rote - my central aim as a tutor is to teach each tutee how to express themselves.

About Julieta:
An enthusiastic and out going Latin American Spanish teacher from Argentina with a passion for helping others improve their language skills! - Especially Spanish (from beginners to expert), conversational Italian and English for non-English speakers.
_________________________________
Terrific international experience, equally at home in South America, Europe and the UK. An exceptional ability to communicate at every level, from school children who want extra help with their Spanish homework to business managers who want to expand their ability to deal with overseas customers and those who want to learn more about the world around them - or are just going to on holiday!!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English to children and teenagers for approximately five years in Argentina together with "Spanish as a foreign language". I have now brought those courses to the UK and they are available now!
_________________________________
In addition to languages I also teach drama and free expression for beginners and would be actors. A great technique to learn if you want to build personal confidence in every aspect of life - from delivering business presentations to building personal friendships.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a lot of experience in helping college and University students, children of all ages and, of course, their Mums and Dads! - from designing language classes to providing personal tuition and 1 : 1 language coaching. Those classes include:
________________________________
Regular classes with a careful mix of 25% listening, 25% oral, 25% reading and 25% writing skills all of which can be adjusted to meet the specific needs of the student. The classes use a range of techniques and games and inevitably have special homework assignments!

Conversation classes: In these the student and I develop special themes (for college, work or just for fun!) and use those "themes" to help build grammar and vocabulary. The conversation classes are dynamic, full of games, and involve a little bit of acting - what better way to out your language skills into practice!

Special classes: In these we handle a wide range of "real life" activities, from watching a movie, going to the supermarket, visiting a park and learning how to tango!
________________________________
The lessons can range from an hour to a whole day - so the classes can fit around your social, school and business life. So now there is no excuse in not getting going!

Atrevete! Andiamo!

About Rokhsana:
I have recently completed a four year degree in French at Bristol University and am currently seeking to involve myself in my passion for teaching. As you can see below, I have much experience in this field which has confirmed to me that teaching is the path I would like to pursue.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience begun in 2005 when I joined the Bristol based tutor company 3A Tutors LTD. Via this company, I gave private tuition to a mature student with dyslexia. Teaching an illiterate adult to read and write was a hugely demanding task. Since those with dyslexia have great difficulty in acquiring such skills, this role required much patience, persistence and sensitivity. Subsequently from October 2006 - May 2007, I took part in a scheme organised by the British Council working as an English language assistant in two secondary schools and one college in the South East of France. I would lead, alone, classes of approximately 20 students aged between 11 and 20. In order to capture and maintain the attention of such a large group of youngsters I had to ensure that my teaching technique was engaging and lively. During my stay in France, I undertook a fair amount of private tuition teaching French youngsters to improve their English. Furthermore, I took on the challenging task of teaching a youth French rugby team to learn English.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that in order to teach a student of any age range successfully, the key is to engage him /her fully. The student's attention must be captured and maintained. In order to achieve this feat, my teaching technique is lively, enthusiastic and innovative. However, in spite of this approach, I believe that one must not forget the key responsibility of educating and expanding the knowledge of the student. In other words, a lively approach in teaching important and serious material is the key to success.

I have experience as a private tutor.

During July '08 I taught English as a foreign language at a school in Dubai, UAE. I had my own form class but during the school day I saw 60 children between the ages of 11 and 15.

I have also taught workshops to English Primary School children and Japanese High School and University Students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly and supportive as a tutor; encouraging my pupils to stretch themselves and achieve their best.

Although I am only 20, I feel that I have the right amount of maturity to be guide my pupils, but I am also young enough to seem approachable. Tutoring is not the same as teaching in a classroom, so I do not believe that a Tutor should be the same as a teacher.

As I am still at university I will only be available between terms. My university holidays coincide with school holidays.

About Richard:
I am a qualified English teacher at secondary and further education levels (PGCE) with a degree in English Language and Literature from University College London. I am highly experienced and enjoy the intensity of 1-1 teaching or small group teaching, where progress is rapid and rewards are almost instant.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for over 20 years and was head of teacher training at an Oxford language school. I have also been a joint chief assessor for University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate CELTA teacher training courses. During a long and successful career I have taught all levels, all ages, and all aspects of English, from EFL to intensive language and literature work, to students from the age of 10 to postgraduate Linguistics students.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy making rapid progress with the student in tutorial classes, specialising in study skills and exam technique as well as looking in detail at the actual subject - English Language or English Literature. The student often needs work on increasing their confidence, which in turn allows them to engage with the subject more successfully and enjoyably. I value rigour (both in the student and the tutor) but balanced very much with an emphasis on enjoyment.

About William:
Hi my name is William, I am 26 years old. I have been teaching French in a variety of schools in the west end of Glasgow ranging from primary to secondary.

Teaching Experience:

Having grown up in France, I have I am perfectly bilingual English-French and as such have been teaching here in Glasgow as a Foreign Language Assistant for the past two years.

Tutoring Approach:

Patience, enunciation, pronunciation, repetition and above all to enjoy the transmission of a foreign language and to be able to appreciate the difficulties implied. An ability to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and to be able to maintain a constant level of standard for the rest of the class.

I am a keen communicator and enjoy the opportunity to enthuse and motivate pupils in the apprenticeship of a modern language. Through my own experience I know, and believe in the importance of accessing the ability to communicate in more than one language. It seems essential to me that within an ever expanding and multicultural Europe to emphasise and promote the role of modern languages from the earliest age possible. It is inevitable to deny the obvious advantages of both working with, and being taught by a native speaker, and to be able to rely on the enthusiasm and passion they have for their ow language and culture.

Summer 2003 Private tutor in Spanish, St Albans, UK. Tutoring the learning and improvement of a small group of students in Spanish as a foreign language.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my experience as Spanish teacher, I am very aware of the difficulties English speakers face when learning Spanish, as they usually get bored when learning the Spanish grammar. So I usually make the explanations of it as enjoyable as possible and with plenty of practice, so they can see their progress and reinforce what they have learnt. Otherwise, they would abandon the learning of Spanish.

Therefore, my approach to teaching Spanish is twofold. Firstly, I try to make the classes as enjoyable as possible when teaching grammar and secondly, I also provide plenty of different and challenging exercises/tasks, so students can reinforce what they have learnt and see their progress. Balancing these areas (explanations of grammar and practicing Spanish) is the key to have an adequate learning of Spanish and I consider that in my teaching this is achieved.
