Teaching Experience: I taught at an independent school in the West Country for over 30 years where I was at different stages a Housemaster, the Head Of Chemistry and Senior Master. I have been an examiner with the Edexcel Examination Board for the past 15 years. I still work for them as a principal examiner in A-Level Chemistry which involves the setting of examination papers as well as the management of a team of assistant examiners. |
Tutoring Approach: Students should be prepared to be be fully involved in the tutoring process and must want to succeed. I believe that in general I soon gain the confidence of my tutees, as it is important to develop a good working relationship with them as soon as possible. In many cases I find that I am coaching those who have lacked the confidence to progress properly in the large classes at school, or for some reason or another have fallen behind academically, perhaps through illness or from returning to the UK from abroad.
