| Personal Description: I have a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design, and have 8 years experience of working in education. I also have a degree in Theatre Design. I worked as a Visual Merchandiser for a couple of years after graduating, and then made the move into teaching. I now work in pastoral roles within secondary schools - but actively keep up to date with the Art GCSE and A Level specs. |
Teaching Experience: I have worked as a Secondary Art teacher up to head of department level in London. Since moving up to Yorkshire 3 years ago I have worked in pastoral roles within 2 different schools, looking after years 7 and 8 and now 6th form. |
Tutoring Approach: Tutoring is not just filling in the gaps. I believe a Tutor should be a person of support through the difficult exam times, as well as a teacher. I work with young people to find out what their artistic style is and then help them use that to achieve their best possible result. Creating artwork that ticks the right exam board boxes can be tricky - there is a lot of wok to do and it can seem unattainable to get everything done in time. I can help you streamline your work into the best pieces, and help you to show the links throughout your project in the most efficient ways. |

| Personal Description: CURRENTLY ACCEPTING STUDENT REQUESTS FOR JULY 2026 ONWARD I'm an Oxford graduate English specialist with 5 years experience who helps students achieve top grades in their English GCSEs and A-Levels. I know exactly what the mark scheme is looking for, and have helped multiple students exceed their expectations. ***"Thank you so much for all your tips and advice - I ended up getting 9s in both English GCSEs!" - STUDENT H*** I particularly enjoy pushing ambitious, hardworking students who might not yet have understood how to excel. I was one of these students. Everything changed when I got a private tutor at the age of 15. With their support, I scored 100% in my English GCSEs, 99% in English A Level, and went on to study English at St John's College, Oxford. So, it's out of immense gratitude to my own teachers (and my younger self for persisting through anxiety and disappointment) that I try and show my students that success is well within their reach. ***"Thank you for your help: it really helped me get the 9! " - STUDENT D*** ***"Ankit is an amazing tutor. He boosted my son by 3 grades. I recommend Ankit to anyone who wants a tutor: Ankit really goes above and beyond to teach his students" - HAMID (Parent)*** |
Teaching Experience: ***"The results are here and I got a 9 in Literature and an 8 (2 marks off a 9) in Language. These were also my highest grades" - STUDENT E*** I've been an English tutor for nearly five years, following my education under award-winning professors, tutors, and teachers who shaped the foundation of everything I now teach. Over the last 5 years, I've taught AQA and OCR's GCSE English courses extensively. I also have experience teaching Edexcel and Cambridge iGCSE at GCSE, and A-Level English Literature for OCR and AQA. GCSE set texts that I'm very familiar and have many years of resources on include: - Macbeth - Antony & Cleopatra - Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde - A Christmas Carol - An Inspector Calls - Never Let Me Go - Lord of the Flies - The War of the Worlds - Power & Conflict Poetry (AQA and OCR) - The Woman in Black - I'm the King of the Castle I also have experience teaching these set texts (at both GCSE and A-Level): - Romeo and Juliet - Hamlet - Richard II - Paradise Lost (which I did my undergraduate dissertation on) - The Bloody Chamber - A Streetcar Named Desire - The Great Gatsby - Frankenstein - Songs of Ourselves (Anthology) - Pride and Prejudice - Skirrid Hill - The Handmaid's Tale - Top Girls - Romantic Poetry - The Duchess of Malfi - Of Mice and Men My degree covered literature written from when English first became a language to the modern day. So simply let me know what you're studying and I'll be able to teach it. ***"I learnt more with you in 2 hours than I did in a whole year from my teachers" - STUDENT K*** |
Tutoring Approach: ***"I got an 8 in Literature (I never thought I would EVER get that in Year 10) and a 7 in Language. I'm even taking English for A Level! Sincerely, thank you for everything. I'm forever grateful!" - STUDENT A*** My lessons balance challenge with warmth. I teach through discussion, questioning, high-level ideas and regular homework. ***"I couldn't be happier with the progress my son had made under Ankit's guidance, which has helped him reach grade 9. What sets Ankit apart is his patience and encouragement, which has really boosted my son's confidence"*** - VIJI (Parent) I break English down into clear systems: top-band writing templates, essay formulas, and exam strategies tailored to the student's board and mark scheme. Together, we build ready-to-use paragraphs and flexible arguments that adapt to almost any question with the goal of reducing uncertainty, building fluency and writing material the examiners want to reward. ***"Ankit helped my dyslexic son at both GCSE and A Level. His manner with students is warm and engaging, and he has a lovely sense of humour - all of which makes such a difference in 1-2-1 settings. I thoroughly recommend him - CLAIR (Parent) *** |

| Personal Description: I was school educated in England but was fortunate to be offered a degree course in Queensland, Australia studying a Art and specialising in sculpture. Afterwards, I returned to England and completed a PGCE course which qualified me to become an Art and Design teacher for mainly secondary school age group. I continue to develop my own art skills alongside my teaching practice which keeps me up to date with my own skills and learning more about different techniques with different media. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught Art for over 20 years in private and state schools and have a great passion for the subject which I use to inspire my students. In this time, I have successfully been a Head of department at various stages in my career, as well as mentored trainee Art teachers. Over my career, I have supported and guided students with their coursework, exam preparation and portfolios for undergraduate art based degrees. Additionally, I have shown them how to devise personal statements for their UCAS applications. |
Tutoring Approach: I am a highly organised and experienced teacher with over 20 years in education, dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential. My tutoring approach is supportive, personalised, and focused on identifying both strengths and areas for development. I take pride in understanding each student's individual needs, enabling me to effectively address weaknesses while building confidence and enhancing existing skills. My lessons are carefully structured to ensure clear progression and purpose. Each session includes time to review previously set work, allowing students to reflect on their learning, consolidate understanding, and recognise their progress. I then guide them through the next steps needed to further improve, ensuring continuous development and measurable outcomes. I strive to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking academic risks. By combining structure with flexibility, I adapt my teaching methods to suit different learning styles, helping students stay engaged and motivated. Ultimately, my goal is to support students in producing their very best work, equipping them with the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to succeed both academically and independently. |

| Personal Description: Hello Parents and Students, I have a First Class Degree in Chemistry and am a qualified Chemistry Teacher, with 18 years of teaching experience, including as Head of Chemistry in a Boys' Grammar School. I love tutoring privately and am really proud to say that all of my students from last year achieved an A* or A and most went on to study Medicine or Dentistry. I charge an extremely reasonable rate compared to other Tutors with similar experiences. |
Teaching Experience: I tutor students, both face-face and online, from schools in the surrounding areas, including Tiffin Boys and Tiffin Girls Grammar School, NHEHS for Girls, Haberdashers', Gumley School and The Heathland School. With online tutoring now just as common, I also tutor Students from all over the country. As a current teacher, I have extensive knowledge of the EDEXCEL, AQA and OCR Specifications, as well as the CIE Board, at both A-Level and GCSE level, including IGCSE. In my role as a Chemistry Teacher, I also cover the Core Practical skills with all A-Level students. I am also an Examiner for the Edexcel Examining Board. I am therefore fully equipped to give the best to all my students, regardless of which exam board their school teaches to. |
Tutoring Approach: I take on a friendly approach to learning and always make the student feel that they can succeed, regardless of where they start at. I like to spend a little time with my students trying to find out where their strengths lie and then work with them on their weaknesses first. I provide a clear set of notes, which I prefer to give as the lesson proceeds. This allows the student to be fully engaged in the work and gives them the chance to stop me at any point and ask questions, change direction or spend more time on a particular section than originally intended. I like to provide the student with exam questions to work on in their own time, because I feel the tutoring time is better spent consolidating key concepts. This way, I find students are much better prepared to tackle a range of exam questions and more confident in approaching unfamiliar situations within the exam context. |

Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 "outstanding" rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience as an "Advanced Practitioner"-tasked with turning around failing cohorts in some of the UK's toughest classrooms, as well as my time as an examiner for a variety of GCSE/A Level exam boards. Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent public figures including Premiership footballers, Olympic athletes, luminaries of the business world, and even the family of a Nobel Prize winner for a month-which was awesome! Furthermore, in also being an accomplished property developer with my own UK real-estate portfolio and honorary co-founder of a former property company alongside my partner, I have acted as a business mentor to Year 11 students on entrepreneurship, and how to begin their own journey in property investment, which has seen me guide some of the UK's brightest new generation of business leaders. In my remaining spare time, I am currently engaged in the pre-reading for the start of my future PHD in International Relations, during which I will be studying the geopolitics of any superpower conflict over Taiwan. Furthermore, I enjoy travelling extensively in our second home of Tuscany with my young family, supporting Manchester United, playing the drums, and playing the PlayStation (although not as much as I used to, these days!) As my full and varied career has hopefully shown, I have a passion for English, maths, history, and the 11+ exams, taking great pride in providing the best academic and pastoral support I can, whilst hopefully being an outstanding role-model for all of my students, as I help them forge their way in the world. ►► QUALIFICATIONS ◄◄ PHD (Start Pending) in International Relations at London School of Economics-will analyse the geostrategic relationship between the USA and China in an era of rising multipolarity. --MRes (Distinction) in International Security from University of Warwick-won academic award for writing an "outstanding and genuinely original dissertation" that represented: "an important contribution to existing literature in the field of International Security". --PGCE (Distinction) in Secondary Education-ranked in the top 2 trainee teachers in my year's cohort, with outstanding feedback in academic and practical assessments --BA (Hons) in English/History from University of Birmingham-received special award for achieving academic excellence despite coming from the bottom 5% of UK families in terms of socioeconomic poverty --A Levels (A* in all subjects taken): prize winning student in my sixth form for most inspirational pupil, and was in the top 2% of the UK for my academic results, including 100% in key modules |
Teaching Experience: I have a broad range of experience turning around struggling students in some of the UK's toughest classrooms, as well as challenging high achieving learners in the pursuit of academic excellence. In my teaching and tutoring career thus far, I have taught across the curriculum age-ranges (7-18 years), as well as undergraduate and postgraduate level students, and specialise in teaching troubled learners lacking confidence, whilst pushing very bright pupils. Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates received a 25% upwards leap in the opening two years and my tutoring pass grades in my subjects of English, maths and history have been outstanding, so that the vast majority of my classes/tutees are now passing with strong academic grades, and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. During last academic year, my tutees enjoyed superb results in English, Maths, History and the 11+, with 96% reaching their target minimum grade, and 68% exceeding this mark, entering prestigious institutions such as the University of Durham, University of Heidelburg and Bromsgrove School, as well as world-class employers such as Rolls Royce. Therefore, over my career as a "super-tutor" so far, I am proud to have delivered over 37,000 lessons across 1000 students within 41 countries, from the UK to Hong Kong. I also have considerable mentoring expertise, in having built my own UK property portfolio currently valued at £2.75 million from scratch, I have mentored many adult and teenage entrants into property investing, guiding their purchases and renovations to the overall value of £14 million, and counting. In addition to this, I have also been an informal mentor to UK gang members, tasked with persuading them to their back on lives of criminality, and embrace the transformative potential of education, which has been among the most rewarding roles of my career thus far. ►► PARENT FEEDBACK ◄◄ --"Jonathan is fantastic and my 15 years old have a big turn round about his view of education. Tutoring Approach: Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them, and this is demonstrated in both their personal and academic growth, which is among the most rewarding aspects of tutoring for me. I'm very friendly with a great sense of humour (so I've been told!), and I use this to make the learning as enjoyable as I can, whilst strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students. Through this, it is more than tutoring to me, seeing our time together as equipping them with the vital skills they need to excel in later life. In terms of lesson delivery, I always strive to be on the cutting-edge of education in use of educational technology, teaching resources and methods. Therefore, my approach to tutoring currently makes use of the techniques of "blended learning", and utilises the following: ⦿ Industry-standard video-conferencing and modern presentational packages such as Miro-used by global brands like Coca Cola and Nike to power collaborative learning ⦿ Powerful virtual learning environments, resourced by well-known educational companies such as Twinkl and Century Tech, to help every one of my learners maximise their potential. ⦿ Judicious use of AI powered apps and programmes, to help explore key educational concepts, mark schemes and model answers ⦿ Fully personalised lessons, tailored to topics, skills and levels being explored by the learner at school ⦿ Interlocking homework provided, to consolidate key concepts and themes explored within each lesson ⦿ Innovative approach to learning, from using computer games as inspirational stimulus for creative writing (which have been used as national exemplars by UK exam boards), to debating contemporary issues affecting all young people for speaking and listening tasks, such as: "How Will AI Change Humanity?" ⦿ A friendly and engaging approach to learning, seeking to make it fun, yet intellectually rigorous at all time Thus, with 20 years+ experience now in the UK's most challenging classrooms, this has constantly honed my approach to teaching and tutoring, creatively using ed-tech to ensure no learner is left behind, as we cover the curriculum in an accessible and enjoyable way. Needless to say, I am a passionate advocate of the transformational value of education, which is a joy, never a chore. In having been lucky enough to build a property brand and investment portfolio, I now tutor primarily for the sheer enjoyment of helping develop the next generation of learners. Education enabled me to escape a childhood of abject poverty, and with this in mind, I always do my best to ensure I give each and every one of my students the best start in life I can. If you're looking to work with one of the leading tutors in the industry with a proven track-record of academic and commercial success, then I'm happy to help. Thank you ever so much for reading :) *Enhanced DBS certified **Please kindly note: proposed rate will be dependent on level of study, length of tutoring period and demand. |

| Personal Description: I am a native Chinese speaker who grew up in a Traditional Chinese environment in Taiwan. I've also studied art, lived and worked in the UK for the last 4 years. Therefore, I have a sufficient understanding of both languages and I've been teaching Chinese to adults and kids for more than 3 years. I enjoy helping people express themselves through Chinese, and making the learning process delightful and practical. I also have multiple interests including drawing, yoga, planting, swimming, reading, dancing, going to exhibitions and going camping. I am happy to share things I know with you and learn from your interests. |
Teaching Experience: In the last three years, I've helped students with different needs, backgrounds, ages, and different Chinese levels. For example, helping a total beginner to build up a basic knowledge of Chinese, helping intermediates to have daily conversations, and helping the advanced learners to speak precisely in daily and business contexts. I can teach in the pin yin or Zhuyin system according to students' needs, and both traditional and simplified Chinese. My previous experiences include preparing a family(aged 6 and aged 35) to move to Chinese speaking country, introducing Chinese to teenagers who are interested in Chinese culture and history, and helping people who want to work bilingually in English and Chinese, as well as support people who had learned Chinese long time ago to pick it up again. I am passionate about teaching the Chinese language and culture, and I enjoy seeing my students' joy in achieving and improving. |
Tutoring Approach: We will design the course content together based on your interests, needs, and abilities, and develop it according to your goals. The course can be in full Chinese or half Chinese and half English.
For beginners, I usually start with building up vocabularies, recognising characters, and speaking, then move on to sentence structures and grammar. I encourage my students to speak and communicate confidently even if it's not perfect, and we will correct the word order and grammar from the conversations.
I enrich the courses with props, books, games, and videos for students of different ages. My approach is to create an enjoyable and relaxed space for you to speak Chinese and learn from mistakes. I will help you cultivate your confidence with my patient and friendly guidance. |

| Personal Description: I am an undergraduate student specialising in Music (first study violin) but have trained in all areas of performing arts (Dance (Ballet, Tap, Street, Ballroom/Latin/) Drama - LAMDA and on stage musicals/plays/panto//Music (violin, singing, piano, recorder, violin, flute) since the age of 4). I hold LAMDA Grade 8 (Gold Medal), ABRSM Grade 8 violin, ABRSM Grade 7 Singing and working to ABRSM Grade 7 Piano and Grade 6 Theory. I also hold, ISTD Supreme Awards and NATD Presidents Awards in Ballroom and Latin and am working towards my Student Teaching Exams, I teach Music Theory to Grade 3, primary Level Spanish, French, Maths and English including Reading and Speech and Drama. I can also teach Baby Ballroom and Latin American dance and help your child work towards LAMDA Introductory and Entry level exams. |
Teaching Experience: I started helping in Baby Ballroom classes when I was eight and have assisted in the infant/primary classroom since starting at secondary school As House Music Captain, at school I have coached fellow students (with little to no music experience) in group singing and part song. As Dance Captain in a school musical, I was responsible for demonstrating and teaching routines set by the professional choreographer to fellow performers. I have also overseen younger pupils in their music practice. I have personal experience of being tutored online which impacts on how I teach.. Having taken some 100 exams been involved in numerous competitions, festivals, concerts and stage productions I have a wealth of experience to draw upon and pass on. |
Tutoring Approach: A (free) online introductory meeting with parent and child will be arranged to establish parental objectives and to tailor future sessions/frequency around the child. I have no preconceptions and begin by establishing what the pupil knows already and what areas require particular attention. I use the "WALT" (ie We are learning to ......") approach to learning with a review at the end of the session as to what has been learnt. At the start of each new session I check the child's recall of the previous session/topic before moving on. I will use a combination of online resources, shared screen, Powerpoint slides, hmework, with reference to specific curriculum/curricula, as required Whatever subject is being studied and whatever age, my aim is to assist learners to become confident readers, communicators and independent thinkers with a thirst for learning. I recognise that some children may take longer to absorb information than others and it may take some time for that "lightbulb moment". I am therefore exceptionally patient. Due to attention spans, I recommend 30 minute sessions for children up to age 8, 40 minute sessions for children 9 to 11. One hour for secondary level. Tutoring is on Zoom or Skype and can be weekly, alternative weeks or monthly. |

"I really enjoyed Smaragda`s AS physics tutorials and she was very clear with her explanations. I would definitely recommend her to my friends as she was friendly and I wasn`t afraid to ask her questions. She made herself available via email almost 24/7 for assistance if and when I required it. She accommodated my learning style very well with her broad subject knowledge and I really enjoyed every Monday! Early days but she likes her methods of teaching and is very professional which my daughter appreciates. Smara works from a whiteboard which gives her enough time to take notes. All in all very happy with how tutoring is going." "Smaragda is an excellent tutor, I can highly recommend her." |
Tutoring Approach: I put an emphasis on a deep understanding of each concept, theory, method, and observation, as well as acquiring and mastering technical skills.I am thorough in teaching, and besides explaining everything clearly I also provide and walk with the student through the necessary material - usually in the form of slides, interactive questions and quizzes, simulations, notes, problems and past papers / exam practice papers - for a solid understanding through assimilation of the ideas as well as practice. Problem-solving methods are discussed and explained, not only as to how a problem is solved, but also why it's solved that way: this helps the student understand the maths and science behind the problem better, as well as develop their critical and analytical abilities that will help them tackle any other problem in maths and science as well as in life in general. I encourage questioning, not hesitating to raise unclear points, individuality in thinking and working, having an inquisitive and creative mind, and being good friends and generosity with working time. My particular planning and delivery of the tutorials depend on the individual student's current motivation, needs, and knowledge, as well as the particular content of the topic that is taught. I also often discuss with the student ways to learn as well as study. True learning and understanding has a multifaceted nature. I believe that everyone has the potential to reach their aims, and I always do my utmost so that this will happen for each one of my students. |

| Personal Description: Hello, I am in my final year of a BMUS performance degree specialising in the violin at the University of Chichester. I take part in many university ensembles including the symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, string orchestra, concert orchestra and Pitt band. I have also taken part in string quartets, folk bands and amateur orchestras. I spend my summer breaks working with children at holiday camps and in nurseries. Playing the violin and teaching it is not only what I want to do professionally but is also my hobby! |
Teaching Experience: I have had a number of violin students over the last couple of years ranging from 6 years old to 26 years old. I plan each lesson to individual needs and depending on what the student desires. I have lots of experience working with children. I have worked for Oxford Active Holiday camp where I have lead activities for 3-15 year olds. I have also worked at Create holiday camp on several occasions. I have experience working with young children and have spent many hours travelling around several nurseries in oxford with Kangacrew Staffing solutions. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to teaching is that it always should be fun! This is something that is very important to me. More than anything I want to share my love and enjoyment of playing the violin and show others how fun it can be! I always plan my lessons in advance to make the lessons as efficient as possible. It is very important to understand the needs of individuals so my lessons are planned accordingly. |

| Personal Description: Approachable, patient and thorough tutor with an outstanding feedback record stretching back to 2009. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant, working as a financial accountant at a large property and casualty insurer in the City of London. My Father was a Mathematics teacher in London for nearly forty years, which is most likely where I get my boundless enthusiasm for these subjects from! I work very hard to make the delivery of subject material as clear, interesting and precise as possible. Rather than just spoon feed a formula, I go back to first principles and explain in simple terms why a particular piece of theory works and where it came from. However, I do not just talk constantly and let the student sit idle. Success in Maths, Accounting and Economics requires problem solving skills, so in order for the sessions to be beneficial I need the student to engage with me and to attempt questions (with my supervision) when they have enough accumulated knowledge to do so. I fully understand how stressful school/university can be and as such the sessions are not intended to be "just another school lesson", or to put vast amounts of pressure on students: the ultimate aim is to develop a strong working rapport whereby the student feels comfortable, secure and can feel a sense of achievement from their work. *** Feedback testimonials from previous students/parents can be provided as far back as 2009. *** I teach Sixth Term Examination Papers (STEP I, II and III) and AEA also *** *** AVAILABLE TO TEACH IN SUMMER HOLIDAYS*** *** TEACH ONLINE OR IN PERSON, EITHER AT STUDENT HOME OR MINE *** |
Teaching Experience: I have 17 years worth of private tuition experience teaching Mathematics, Business, Accounting and Economics courses that begin at Key Stage 3 (Years 11-14), through GCSE, AS & A2 level to first and second year university courses in accounting, mathematics and economics. Whilst at university I also volunteered to take part in weekly workshops where students could come and ask questions in a relaxed, informal atmosphere about homework or problems that they simply were unable to make any headway with. I teach the following courses for GCSE, A Level and University: Mathematical Methods (Core / Pure) Advanced Mathematical Methods (Core / Pure) Statistics Decision Mathematics Mechanics - A Level only Microeconomics Macroeconomics Development Economics Labour Economics I am well versed with all the requirements of the major UK examination boards, as well as an understanding of what universities are looking for in exams and coursework. For those of you that are interested in becoming an Actuary or indeed would like some tuition for the exams set by the Institute of Actuaries, I am able to teach the following courses: CT1 - Financial Mathematics, CT3 - Probability and Mathematical Statistics, CT4 - Models, CT7 - Economics. For those of you that are studying Accounting & Finance, I teach the following courses: Financial Reporting Financial Accounting Taxation Management/Cost Accounting Corporate Finance Business Law I am well versed with the requirements of the major UK boards for ACA and CA, such as Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). I also teach AAT (all Levels), ACCA and CIMA courses. The above list is not exhaustive so if require assistance with another course please do not hesitate to contact me for more details. |
Tutoring Approach: During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. Every lesson will begin with an outline of the subject content and the intended aims. The key to success in maths and economics is to do it! With that in mind, the vast majority of lessons will entail methodically working through problems and exam style questions to ensure my students are as well prepared for their modules as possible. However, exam success isn't the only concern; I want to nurture and develop a genuine love for Mathematics, Accounting, Business and Economics; one that will encourage the students to read widely and explore new avenues of thought. |
