| Personal Description: I'm a student and working musician, mainly playing guitar and bass guitar. I travel a lot to play, and have played as far afield as Dundee and London. I gig regularly and have a lot of live experience, as well as experience as a producer and working in stage sound, so I have a pretty broad background to draw upon when it comes to teaching. I play (and teach) many styles, from urban/hip-hop, funk, ska/reggae, blues, jazz, rock and folk/world music. |
Teaching Experience: I've taught guitar and bass before to a number of students at varying levels of experience, from absolute beginners to advanced players and people working on exams for school and college. I've also got a pretty extensive collection of teaching materials, and write my own to supplement these. |
Tutoring Approach: I advocate a theory-centred approach to teaching. I like to emphasise the non-technical aspects of musicianship, like playing by ear and improvisation, at least as much as technique, as the latter can be developed by rote practice whereas the former develops best through interaction and tuition. |

| Personal Description: My name is Michael and I teach private one to one drum kit lessons to people of all ages, in and around the Yorkshire area. I have been playing the drum kit for over 20 years and started playing at the early age of 11. Since then I have been in many bands and performed in many venues in and around the Yorkshire area. After studying music at school in Scotland and forming my first band I soon found myself addicted to the drum kit. I decided I wanted to further my skills by getting private drum kit lessons which helped me gain my Standard Grade/GCSE and Higher Grade/A-Level in Music. I then furthered this by studying a BTEC in Popular Music at Huddersfield Technical College and a BA (Hons) in Popular Music at the University of Sheffield. I have also recently completed my PGCE in Life Long Learning at the University of Huddersfield and hold QTLS with IfL. |
Teaching Experience: I had my first teaching experience when I was 16 years old at a music workshop during the summer holidays where I was involved in teaching groups of people how to play the drum kit within a band setting. At the end of the workshops each group that had formed had to perform their songs to the public. Since then I always had a desire to pursue my teaching and in 2006 I started teaching at Rhythm Inc Music Tuition in Barnsley. Initially, I only had a couple of students that I would teach in my spare time between my job and other commitments. However, more students started coming and having only started with a couple I soon had enough to become self-employed and put my all into my teaching. In 2007 I started teaching at Take 2 Music Academy in Birdwell, Barnsley and at Rockem Music in Rotherham. I have taught at other private music schools and in local schools in the Yorkshire area. I also have experience delivering group workshops within both private and local schools. Currently, in 2012 I opened my own teaching studio based in Wakefield, and continue to teach at Rhythm Inc Music Tuition in Barnsley, Take 2 Music Academy in Birdwell, Barnsley and at Rockem Music in Rotherham. I have recently completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Lifelong Learning and hold QTLS with IfL (Institute for Learning) I am fully CRB and DBS checked and currently have a 100% pass rate for students sitting their graded exams. |
Tutoring Approach: Lessons are taught on a one to one basis using two drum kits, one for the student and one for myself. Choice of electric of acoustic drum kits. Lessons are taught at the students own pace and involves practical work. GROOVES Learn all styles of drumming such as Rock, Blues, Latin, Metal, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Funk, etc. Learn drum grooves from songs including your own favourite songs. Learn how to improvise on the drum kit to backing tracks including soloing. Learn all grades from the Rockschool or Trinity Guildhall syllabus. and more… TECHNIQUE / TECHNICAL Learn hand and foot techniques Learn all 40 Rudiments and how to apply them to the drum kit Learn syncopation and independence studies including Accented Studies Learn Time Keeping exercises and more… GENERAL MUSICIANSHIP SKILLS / THEORY / AURAL SKILLS Learn how to hold the drum sticks correctly Learn how to read drum notation including sight reading Learn the drum kit voices Understand note values and rhythms Learn how to play a drum part from Ear and identify rhythms and more… SONGS Learn songs from the graded syllabus Learn songs of own choice Learn recommended songs and more… |

| Personal Description: My name is Leon and I provide tuition for maths and computer science to make these subjects easier to understand and fun to learn. Using my experience in teaching and commercial application of these subjects, I am able to provide a thorough perspective that extends beyond the limitations of traditional classroom lessons. By presenting context for how maths and computer science concepts are used in the real world, I am able to make these subjects easier to understand with a complete explanation for how they are used to solve problems that everyone can relate to. Self belief is the biggest obstacle preventing people from achieving their full potential. By using my learning techniques and support, I can help you to overcome difficulties created by learning anxiety, dyslexia and dyscalculia that lead to your potential being underestimated. By deconstructing the unnecessary jargon and written notation behind maths and computing, I help students to exceed expectations and achieve the highest grades in as little as 12 weeks. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught maths and computing as a professional tutor and commercial trainer for over 10 years. My lessons can also be tailored to cover exam preparation for all major exam boards, including AQA, CEA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC. The following are the subject levels that I have experience of teaching: Maths: - Key Stage 3 - GCSE - Functional Skills Computer Science: - Key Stage 3 - GCSE - A-Level - Degree - Master's degree. |
Tutoring Approach: Whatever your reasons for considering tuition, my lessons can be custom designed to extend your potential to achieve the highest grade possible. Whether you're already a high performer or you find maths / computing a challenge to understand, my custom lesson plans allow you to learn at a pace that suits your individual requirements. By avoiding the use of technical jargon and complicated notation, my lessons present concepts in a format that's easy to understand and practise. Each lesson is designed for you to achieve the following learning objectives: - Understand a specific concept. - Perform the concept. - Write the concept as maths notation or programming code. - Develop exam technique. Using custom digital learning tools, you will be exposed to a hands on approach to learning the concepts behind maths and computing. My lessons begin with a visual presentation explaining the focus topic, followed by interactive exercises that help you to experiment, express and reinforce your understanding. With my support and collaboration, each exercise challenges you to describe and refine your thinking process to solve a puzzle using the skills taught in the presentation. Once you are confident in your ability, the lesson progresses to applying your understanding of the concepts to creating and understanding written notation and code. This stage of the lesson prepares you with the ability to work with exam questions and other assessments that you are preparing for. The most important component of effective tuition is your ability to practise between lessons. To help you gain the most benefit from my tuition, the digital learning exercises are made available to you as a practise tool between lessons. My learning tools also allow you to receive feedback on your practise throughout the week or during the next lesson. |

| Personal Description: I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2009 and work as a manager tutoring maths part time. I work shifts so I'm generally available at any time throughout the week and weekend. I'm friendly, enthusiastic and make my students feel at ease so they feel comfortable to ask for help with questions which they may not have the confidence to ask during classes at school. |
Teaching Experience: Sixteen years tutor experience with pupils from year 7 up to adult learners. The majority of my students have been studying for their GCSE's. There are many teachers on here which may be perfect for some children as a tutor. I am not a qualified teacher however all of my previous students have selected me for that sole reason - so their child has a tutor and not a teacher to help them with their maths. They have all felt instantly relaxed with me, more inclined to ask questions and extremely driven to prove themselves. Reference available upon request |
Tutoring Approach: Every child is different so it's explaining a topic in a way that makes sense to them rather then the way the teacher wants them to learn. If the child feels relaxed with the tutor they are more likely to understand something rather then just feel under pressure to say they understand. |

| Personal Description: Maths tutor for KS3-KS4 students. I am a qualified teacher and have experience of working in a range of schools with a variety of different pupils. In my experience the benefits of one-to-one tuition are incomparable. When teaching a student I am able to tailor the teaching to address their specific questions and misconceptions, whilst covering topics at a far greater depth and speed than is possible in a class of 30. By far the biggest benefit of tuition I have seen in my students is a vast increase in their confidence and to see them realise and believe that they can understand different topics and are fully capable of achieving high grades. |
Teaching Experience: Pearson - Maths tutor Vision for Education - Tutor/mentor Optimal Tutors - Maths and English tutor ICT Teacher Abraham Moss High School - Trainee IT Teacher Walkden High School - Trainee IT Teacher The Tutor Trust - Maths, English and Science Tutor Crumpsall Lane Primary School - Voluntary Work |
Tutoring Approach: I am an approachable, caring and understanding individual with the keen interest of helping people to achieve. I have an excellent ability to break down difficult topics to make them easier to understand. I am an honest and hardworking person who takes great delight in seeing pupils make progress. I have the ability to differentiate work to cater for different individuals and make learning fun. I am creative and have the experience to use every environment as a teaching tool. I can guarantee you will make progress with my support and hope to be able to offer my services. My main interest is in creating an enjoyable and comfortable working environment that draws up from the students personality and employs a variety of different learning type activities and lateral thinking exercises to obtain not only improved subject results but a greater awareness and confidence within their subject matter. My tuition sessions are bespoke and are structured around the needs of the student. Throughout my teaching I place an emphasis on understanding why particular methods are used and how topics link together. I also ensure students are exposed to a wide variety of questions styles from across exam boards to develop their ability to apply these skills to unfamiliar styles of question. Above all, I aim to raise the confidence and expectations of my students and to see them enjoy learning. During the first introductory session I will make an assessment of your ability and discuss what you wish to achieve e.g. a certain grade/better understanding of a particular area, or develop exam technique. I will then use this information to create an individual learning plan and tailor my tuition accordingly as we work together to help you achieve your goal. |

| Personal Description: I am an experienced Chemistry teacher working in London. I am Head of Faculty of a large science department and teach Chemistry to A level, and Biology and Physics to GCSE. I hold a first class honours degree in chemistry and completed my teacher training (chemistry) and my MA in Science Education with King's College London. In addition I am an examiner for one of the larger exam boards. |
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching and tutoring for over a decade now. |
Tutoring Approach: I have an innate feature of make learning energetic and bringing about enthusiasm within students so that they continue to harness their learning naturally, without my presence. One main aim of my tutoring position is to employ students with key skills needed to efficiently revise, especially independently. Thus during crucial tuition periods, more time is spent approaching exam content, such as examination questions and reports and picking upon more complex revision content. However, all content is still taught from basic to the most highest of levels, to ensure full understanding of all topics as a whole. My students excel beyond teaching content in class and expected grades. I am a very efficient, yet calm and tutor and have a large amount of teaching experience which I would like to emanate. |

| Personal Description: • 5th year medical student at UCL • enthusiastic about both learning and teaching! • highly adaptable to the learning style of different students |
Teaching Experience: Having taught children at of a wide age range (7-18) and even assisting adults with their learning for 5+ years now, I have displayed the ability to make learning more enjoyable. Many of my former students have become top of the class after my tuition. I have experience as a transition mentor during my 2nd year at UCL, helping students transition into university over their first 10 weeks on their course. All students can attest to feeling far more confident in their abilities after just a few sessions with me. Would be more than happy to support student with medical school applications through mock interviews and personal statement reviews etc. |
Tutoring Approach: I often use analogies and stories to clarify concepts or to look at them from new perspectives. The use of diagrams to compliment concise text has proven helpful. I am able to give my tips on trialled and tested study techniques that helped me achieve the grades that allowed me to be successful in my applications to competitive medical schools. Student-led approach, meaning they have general control over the content and format of each session. This can be a quiz, exam preparations or simply reviewing a certain topic. Being exclusively online frees up time for both the student and I to focus on working the given hour. |

| Personal Description: I am currently doing a PhD programme in politics and international relations at the university of Dundee but living in Aberdeen. I have vast knowledge in world politics. international relations and history and can fluently communicate in English language and teach same to non-English speaking students. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored university undergraduate students since 2008 at both universities of Aberdeen and Dundee. |
Tutoring Approach: I use one-to-one approach in tutoring and challenge the students to engage in personal research by giving them assignments and grade their work. My tutoring is more of engaging discussion because it is assumed that the students would have got basic knowledge from class lectures. Where the students need more help in terms of more information, that is patiently done. I integrate motivation into my tutoring by way of telling the students that they can achieve much with more efforts and determination. However modification can be introduced according to individual need. |

| Personal Description: I have a PhD in a health related subject, a Master of Research in Clinical Research, a Post Graduate Diploma in Adult Nursing (with registration), a Master of Arts in International Conflict Analysis, and a Bachelor of Art in International Relations. I work in higher education and have an Enhanced Certificate issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service. I can offer a broad range of support including literature reviews, critical analysis, revision techniques, proof reading, writing essays, delivering presentations, and conducting internet research. I offer subject specific tuition in government and politics, history, sociology, international relations, nursing and health sciences, and have practical experience in these fields. In addition, I am a Registered General Nurse (RGN). |
Teaching Experience: I have undertaken teacher training at the University of Southampton and the University of Bedfordshire. I spent a year in Japan teaching English as a foreign language to senior high school students. I have experience of tutoring adults (one to one) and delivering class room based learning, workshops and presentations, writing course materials and running modules. |
Tutoring Approach: In today's world career advancement is increasingly dependent on professional development and lifelong learning but for many people returning to learning after a period away from formal education can be a daunting prospect. I offer an empathetic and empowering approach which is learner focused and driven by how the learner learns. I show students how to take charge of their learning, improve their confidence and negotiate a path that enables them to achieve their goals. This might mean formal tuition in specific subject areas, or more generalised coaching with study skills such as writing essays. |
