Personal Description:
I decided to start tutoring after my experience in trying to get tutors for my own children. As a professional working internationally I thought it would be easy to hand over this important element of their education to someone with both experience and patience. My notion was quickly turned on its head. The Tutors I found taught textbook style with the one shoe fits all approach. My children and others didn't fit into that mould. I very quickly realised that I could do a better job and took the role in house, initially teaching my own daughters before extending out to their friends.
To date I have tutored over 50 children who have gone onto their chosen schools and streams. I believe that tutoring should be about delivering skills to children that they can carry with them throughout their young lives and provide a solid platform on which to develop.

Teaching Experience:

Have tutored key stage 2 and 3.
11 plus students and common entrance applicants.
Recently started to tutor mildly dyslexic students in English comprehension and Language.
Currently writing essays for publication in English Literature and Sociology and Business GCSE and AS level. As well as E papers for 11 plus students.

Tutoring Approach:

I love seeing peoples enthusiasm toward a subject which I also share the same excitement towards however I am also passionate about helping people who may need help or are looking for methods to improve their skills in these topics.

Personal Description:
I am 28 years old and currently working as a Spanish teacher in a secondary school as well as working for the GCSE AQA and Edexcel exam boards. I learnt Spanish as my parents moved to Spain as a child and so I am bilingual. I am also offering Spanish tutoring up to A-Level standard. I have my own car and I have held a full clean drivers licence for 11 years, commuting is not an issue.

Teaching Experience:

I have a lot of experience in Spanish tutoring and I am very confident in teaching GCSE Spanish. I work for the AQA and Edexcel exam boards currently so I have a lot of knowledge around how to succeed in the exam. I am currently a head of year and I have previously worked as a head of department. This included moderating work from other schools; supporting them in marking accurately. I have been very successful with my own GCSE classes at my school, last year I achieved a pass rate (C or above) of 93% (national average is 72%.) To date, I have privately tutored 17 students, all of whom have achieved a B grade or higher, most students beginning on an E grade or lower. I am extremely successful in supporting students to exceed expectations in exams but in a way which is easy to understand. I understand and appreciate that Spanish isn`t easy for everyone and having learnt it as a teenager myself I am able to explain it in a way students understand better.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a very fun approach to learning which is what I feel is the key to success in language learning. For those who are learning Spanish for fun/pleasure I offer topics which are vital to survive on holiday/living abroad rather than doing them for the sake of it. I am able to teach individuals or groups of people.

Personal Description:
I'm a qualified French and English teacher and hold an honours degree in linguistics.

I am really interested in child development and love observing what makes children tick when they are learning and fully engaged in something they enjoy. I try to replicate this in all of my lessons.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my children, read, make things and chat with my friends.

Teaching Experience:

One year in a successful Shropshire school teaching English and French

One year in a challenging Wrexham school teaching English

One year in a Shropshire school teaching French and English

One year in Modern languages departments in Telford and Shropshire

Several smaller placements in schools across Cheshire

Six months working on a one-to-one basis with pupils finding it difficult to engage with their school work

People learn in a variety of ways (verbal/visual/tactile/abstract) and as such I believe work should be adapted to each learner to match the way they learn best.

Personal Description:
Enthusiastic with a restless intelligence, thirsty for knowledge, always keen to discover more, I am continually fascinated by the interplay between culture and society. I have expert knowledge in English and American Literature, the history of cinema, and the development of western philosophy. I resigned from my post as head of department at a large comprehensive school so that I would have more time to write my book comparing the films of Preminger and Hitchcock. Freed from the administrative demands of a school, I have even more energy and creativity to devote to teaching, and will have a powerfully positive impact on whoever I tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I have over thirty years' experience in a wide variety of educational contexts: at universities in Britain and abroad, in comprehensive schools, FE colleges, language schools and professional training. I have worked as a A Level examiner and moderator for over ten years, so understand exactly what students need to do to impress markers, and can advise on how to avoid mediocrity. I have been tutoring online for two years, and find that the level of concentration in a Skype session is usually higher than in person: the start is crisper, the learning more focused.

Tutoring Approach:

Fun, exciting, inspiring. I love the stimulating variety of one-to-one tuition. Over the years, I have adapted my plans, materials and methods to meet the specific needs, aims and expectations of an extremely wide variety of learners in terms of ability, personality and specialisation. At one end of the scale, I trained Swedish officers in media relations ahead of their deployment with the UN in Bosna, and spent eight weeks one-to-one with the head of personnel of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, improving his presentation skills. At the other end of the scale, I had notable success tutoring a teenager with emotional and behavioural difficulties who had been permanently excluded from school for violence, and was in local authority care. Working with him individually for three hours a day, concentrating on English, Maths and History, I had a very positive and potentially transformative impact. At every point in scale, I treat individuals with respect and dedication, determined to help them achieve their potential.

Personal Description:
I have an attachment for academia and all that it entails (research, education, and scholarship). Following four years of undergraduate study, i underwent a year of Masters study at Coventry University where i graduated with a Distinction in International Relations. However, i have not always been a student. I have taught civil education for a year at a secondary (high) school and this was followed by a year as an Assistant lecturer at a college where i lectured on political science.

I have valuable experience as both a learner and a teacher. Thus, this aids my understanding of what a student needs and the pressures associated with the academic environment. Having this understanding, i will be able to employ skills learned as a teacher and lecturer so as to relieve pressure from my students and ensure their needs are met.

So, that's me in a nutshell. I will gladly elaborate on anything further.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught and lectured at various levels of academia. I have a year of experience teaching at a community based secondary school. This was followed by a year lecturing in the capacity of an Assistant Lecturer at a college of education. This is further complimented by years acting as a personal tutor to academic colleagues.

Tutoring Approach:

I adjust my approach to fit the requirements of my tutee. I ascertain what learning style appeals to my student and i adopt that for the lessons. The adoption of this approach is due to my understanding that all students cannot have similar learning styles. Most importantly, i am always eager to learn new methods and procedures in order to improve my technique and approach to ensure my students always have the best experience.

Personal Description:
I have taught, supervised and mentored more than 1000 BSc, MSc and PhD students from around the world to deliver individual and team projects. I worked as a trainer, programme leader and module coordinator in the courses on IT Strategy and Management, Global Business and Sustainable Management, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Public Sector Management and Research Methods (Qualitative & Quantitative), supervising & managing research projects, (re)developing curricula for eLearning, producing course syllabi and designing evaluation methods together with colleagues and support staff in various UK and European universities.

Teaching Experience:

I am competent in most subjects within Management and Economics programmes and have extensive experience in thesis and assignment supervision, research guidance as well as academic writing.

MSc Dissertation in Project Management with A. - I worked with A. to help her with her MSc Dissertation in Project Management. I clarified the key issues and concepts, helped her develop a plan and a reading as well as reference list. Tutored her academic writing skills and coached her throughout the entire process. She was almost sure she would have failed, yet not only she ended up enjoying the time dedicated to her dissertation, but she also achieved a merit.

MSc dissertation in Economics with I. - I. was confused about the literature and the research for his course work and dissertation, he was also worried about his writing style. With regular sessions with me, I. gained the understanding and tools to improve his research and writing and submit his course work dissertation on time.

Research Methods (MBA dissertation) with P. - I helped P. prepare a first class approach for the research methodology of his MBA dissertation and to identify articles in arabic that were relevant for his topic.

BSc, Project Management Essay with J. - J. was under intense time pressure to deliver his project management essay and prepare for his exams at the same time. I worked with him two days in a row so that he could achieve high results in both.

BSc, Management, Accounting & Economic Philosophy assignments tuition with T. - T. is a hard working student from China. Unfortunately, his brilliance and knowledge was not emerging following his first essay results. Working with him 2/4 hours per week for 4 months, T. is now confident again he can truly express his knowledge and get the results he deserves.

BSc, Microeconomics tuition with H. - I worked with H., a native English speaker understand the way to approach and revise for her micro-economics module. She requested one week of intense online tuition, albeit the exam was imminent in one month. H. has now successfully completed the module

BSc, Advanced Economics Subjects, Econometrics (essay based) with V. - I worked 2 and half months giving V. 2-5 hours of tuition every day to prepare for his exams and coursework. V. learning needs had to be tailored to his special needs: being a dyslexic student I had to stimulate his learning ability and memory skills using visual aids and ad hoc examples. Even if the subjects were highly technical he benefited immensely from my dedicated approach, exclusive to him.

MBA dissertation with H. - H. was a full-time working mum of two children with special needs and had very little time to complete her MBA dissertation which was due in two months when we started. Working evenings and weekends with me H. was able to complete and submit her thesis on time and still thanks me for it!

BSc, Economic Development, Regulation, Business & Management with S. - I gave S. tutoring in three final year BSc subjects helping him increase his grades and better plan for his revision in order to use her time well.

PhD Management tutoring with K. - K. is one of my current tutees studying for a PhD in management. We have highly intellectual sessions on his research progress and he consults with me regularly on all aspects of his PhD studies.

Economic Development BSc exam preparation with J. - J. needed to discuss his understanding of the module to better prepare for his exam. He requested me to have regular questions and answers sessions one a week for two weeks with him so that any knowledge gaps could be filled. Our tutorials helped him relieve the stress and anxiety of the exam preparation.

TESTIMONIALS:

The feedback Diego gave me was a clear view on how to improve my work

Diego has been very helpful and gives clear information. His classes are very interesting and I have chosen his courses because of his approach.

Diego is a wonderful tutor. His teaching approach towards the subject has made me develop my interest in it.

Diego, for my personal opinion, has been really helpful for me to understand the real meaning of the subject.

The tutoring Diego gave me was great and I wouldn't have been able to do my essay to a good standard without his help!

I am happy with tutoring sessions with Diego, as I was trying to establish the research methods and his advice was helpful.

As a dyslexic final year undergraduate, I would not have been able to complete my revision on time without Diego's tutorials.
