Personal Description:
My name is Tayo and I am a certified Change management, Earned value management and PRINCE2 project management professional. I have over 20 years proven experience working in various business related roles. As a result, I am able to teach either yourself or your child various aspects of business studies.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a number of individuals, admittedly mostly adults, in various aspects of the business studies discipline. Some clients needed help with the understanding and applying what they were being taught in their degree or master's programme. Some people needed to understand the fundamental principles of a new role they had taken on. I have quite a few 'success' stories and will be able to request references as and when required.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring approach is as follows:

(a) First off I establish what the client would like to achieve ie do they want to understand a particular subject area, or perhaps they want to pass an exam. Maybe the client is about to go for an interview and needs help with preparation or it may be they are about to start a new role and need help gaining confidence in that area.

(b) Spend a quarter of the tutorial time, catching up on the previously taught material to ensure that the tutee understands the subject material before moving on.

(c) Spend about three-quarters of the tutorial time providing an insight into the subject by providing facts, insights, practical examples and insights from a personal perspective.

(d) Set 'homework' or something to go and read up on to further enhance the learning experience

Personal Description:
I have an easygoing and pleasant demeanour, a nice sense of humour, and I generally get on well with my tutees. Although I like to have a friendly relationship with my tutee, I try to employ a professional manner at all times. I am a man in his early, middling years, who enjoys seeing others fulfil their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced teacher, who has taught privately one to one for a number of years. I have primarily taught English on a one to one basis for tutees who are preparing for their GCSE and "A" level examinations, but I am also experienced in helping tutees improve their literacy skills from a young age. I also have a wealth of experience of teaching English as a Foreign language on a one to one basis. I have taught in a number of language schools over the years, and at one point started a language school in southern Italy. I have considerable experience teaching English up to "A" level standard in secondary education, and I have over fifteen years experience to draw upon.

Tutoring Approach:

One to one teaching, by its nature, is very intense, so it is very important to introduce variety as much as possible. A mixture of written work, as well as oral work, if required is essential to keep the tutee focused and interested in what you are teaching. It helps, sometimes, after an intense session, fot the tutee to have a short break, before continuing.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified RE/Humanities teacher teaching in the North London area. I have also been tutoring Maths and English up to GCSE standard for 5 years.

I studied at North London Collegiate School and hold a degree in Philoophy from UCL.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for 5 years now, and am a qualified RE and Humanities teacher. I have also worked as a teaching assistant in both mainstream settings and a Pupil Referral Unit.

I specialise in the Edexcel GCSE RS course and Philosophy and Ethics specifications at A-Level- in particular AQA.

I hold up to date DBS checks.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that good teaching is integral to students' learning. Many students have told me that they have experiences of a teacher may be intelligent and passionate about their subject, but are not able to communicate and engage with students. I believe that engaging with the student and their method of learning is key to the student understanding the work.

In tutoring and I use constant encouragement and affirmation to support young people in their learning. I find this is particularly important when learners have had difficult prior experiences of school. I use encouragement and constant reassurance to facilitate a greater understanding of each topic. In addition I find that it is crucial, especially with younger children to teach interactively and to make sure that they are actively participating in each task.

When tutoring students in preparation for an exam I ensure that both myself and the student follow the marking criteria and the exam specification closely to increase their awareness of the markscheme and thus improve their attainment.

Personal Description:
I am currently an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama, having already studied Modern Languages (French and Spanish) at the University of Durham which included time living and studying in Vigo (Spain) and Clermont-Ferrand (France).

Teaching Experience:

Following completion of my CELTA qualification in Spain in 2007 (which involved teaching adult learners of English), I have variety of experience in teaching from helping fellow students at University, teaching English in a French Lyce and at summer school in the UK.

Tutoring Approach:

The important part of tutoring is creating a more individual approach to learning and the subject or subjects. I feel it is important to discover what about the subject interests the tutee or how we can hook the topic to the individual so that you feel the desire to learn more about the subject of your own accord. It is important that learning is fun and not a chore and so, as well as thoroughly working towards any coming assessments, I like to work around the subject to find what it is about the subject is important to you so that the learning becomes grounded in the individual which gives a deeper knowledge and understanding of the subject.

Personal Description:
I have been a Biology teacher for 37 years. I am now retired and living with my wife in Hartland in North Devon.
We have four adult children.
I have taught in state schools and independent schools in UK and at International Schools in Africa and the Middle East. During my teaching career I have been Head of Biology for twelve years.
I have always enjoyed studying Biology and I like to think that I can pass my enthusiasm for the subject on to my tutees.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in UK for 19 years:
Twelve years at the Radclyffe School in Oldham, two years at St John Rigby Sixth Form College in Wigan and nearly five years at Shebbear College in North Devon where I was Head of Biology.
I have taught at International Schools for 18 years. All the institutions followed the British Curriculum:
One year at Barewa College, Zaria in Nigeria and one year at Seepapitso Secondary School in Botswana.
Nearly six years in Kenya at Hillcrest Secondary School, Nairobi where I was also the Head of Boarding.
Three years at Muscat Private School in Oman, two years as Head of Science at the British School of Alexandria, and three years at the Modern English School in Cairo as Head of Biology.
I completed my overseas teaching as Head of Biology at Al Khor International School in Qatar where I taught for two years.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always enjoyed studying and teaching Biology which has effectively been my lifetime's work. I have extensive experience of teaching students from many different educational backgrounds and I have always been able to relate to my students and nurture an enthusiasm for the subject. As a tutor I would aim to make my lessons enjoyable but rigorous and I will always try my best to boost the confidence of my tutees. If students begin to enjoy the subject they will gain confidence and the examinations will then seem less daunting.
Whenever I tutor I will always incorporate the use of a computer into the learning process. I like to refer to animations and short video clips which greatly enhance the learning process. The on-line resources can then be used by my tutees to reinforce their understanding, as well as researching new material.

Personal Description:
I am a current PhD student at Queen's University, Belfast studying fisheries science. My primary degree was in Marine Biology and masters degree was Animal Behaviour and Welfare. My main interest is studying shark behaviour. I have travelled around the world studying sharks and have learned various new skills from studying abroad that have enchance my teaching technique.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified scuba diving instructor so I give lectures every week as well as teach in the pool. I also have taught undergraduates at Queen's and taught A-level biology and GCSE maths from home.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to find out in advance what topics students struggle with most so I can prepare notes from my own previous files and text books then go through a check list periodically with them. At the end of each section I like to give a short quiz to make sure everything has been understood and repeat the lesson if anything is unclear.

Personal Description:
I am currently doing my Ph.D in computer science. It focuses on the implementation of security and anonymity mechanisms. Over the years of my academic study I have worked in a variety of subjects in the field but I am mostly interested in cyber security techniques and cryptography. I have the most teaching experience with cryptography, cyber security and C programming as well as English but I have also tutored in other subjects such as computer architecture, algorithms, English and some basic mathematics (mostly geometry).

Tutoring Approach:

Personal Description:
I am an 18 year old student finishing my A-levels this year in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Music. I have achieved 4A*s. I am taking a gap year to secure my funds for going to university to study Mechanical engineering. As a current student, I know how the syllabus for each subject works, and I have my own hand-written notes for the new courses.

In my spare time, I like to play and listen to music, or read books and journals. I love getting to know people and learning something new everyday!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 4 years now, and I have music students ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 5. All of my students, have never played a musical instrument before!

I have tutored Maths, Physics and Chemistry and Music for A- level and GCSE students.

I have taught students from the ages of 6-30, so I have adapted different methods of teaching for different ages, but also catering the needs for the different students.

Tutoring Approach:

MUSIC

I teach performance of music with ABRSM . I was taught with this board, and it is very reliable and prestigious. I feel all the music boards focus on performance only, and lack teaching the appreciation of music and what makes music good or bad. Theory is of paramount importance to appreciate music, which is why I tend to focus more on understanding theory as well as the traditional approach to performance. I like to incorporate music that students like to listen to along with the prescribed ABRSM music to keep them entertained and see how all styles of music are closely related, from pop to jazz and classical.

MATHS, PHYSICS, AND CHEMISTRY

I focus on getting my students to understand principles in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Once the principles are fully understood, the student should be able to apply their understanding to a range of problems. Through experience of my learning methods compared to my peers, I have noticed many students tend to learn the steps for doing a question, and ignore the understanding of what they are doing/solving. This method is wrong as a small change in the question can leave students puzzled as they only know how to follow instructions in their head. I have analogies for every topic in Science to help with the mind-boggling phenomena, and focusing on understanding these models will help students achieve the grades they want.

For all subjects, my main job is not to provide knowledge to the students, as nowadays, there are plenty of sources that can help provide the information - internet, libraries etc. I focus on inspiring students and guiding them in the direction that will help them effectively learn independently.

Personal Description:
Hello! I've recently moved to London for a job at a new school and I'm keen to start tutoring again. I live near West Acton tube stop so would be willing to travel a reasonable journey from there, or would happily also tutor from my home. For the next few weeks my availability is pretty much 24/7 as it's the summer holidays.

Teaching Experience:

I'm a fully qualified teacher and also have experience tutoring Maths privately. I'm confident and familiar with all areas of Maths, and have taught both Foundation and Higher students. In addition to this, I'm familiar with the new GCSE specifications and the topics that are new to the syllabus or have come down from A-level. I have access to a wide range of resources (such as past papers) as a result of my previous (and current!) experiences as a teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

As a young teacher I take a very empathetic and friendly approach to all those who I teach or tutor. I would begin by going through a few past papers with your child and gauge from that areas of weakness that can then be re-taught and improved upon.
