AS Level Drama (AQA) - helped Yasmin to explore the analysis of texts of Lady Windermere's Fan and A View From The Bridge in preparation for exams, in which she achieved an A.

GCSE English Literature - tutored Amy in preparation for coursework and exams. Texts: Lord of The Flies and A View From The Bridge.

11+ - worked with Olivia in preparation for her Common Entrance exams on all papers (English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning) as well as interview practice. Olivia is now attending North London Collegiate School (her first choice) but I also prepared her for entrance to Highgate School for Girls, City of London School for Girls and Queen's College.

Primary Help - Worked with brothers Teddy (7) and Alfie (10) mainly on English and Maths but across all subjects generally to improve knowledge, confidence, spelling and vocabulary.

English for Foreign Learners - Helped 8 year old Augustinos (Greek) with reading and homework to improve English, as well as taking him on educational trips around London.

Drama (practical) - Coached Emily (21) and Hannah (20) with acting lessons in preparation for Drama School Entry auditions. Emily has now trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Hannah is training at LAMDA.

Voice and Elocution - Helped Law Student Amar (20) with speechmaking and projection for use in debating.

SEN - worked with Dean (20), a law student with dyslexia, upon exam preparation and practice.

Tutoring Approach:

I will tailor whatever I teach to my pupil's needs. I am very easy to get along with and very open to how you think you or your child will best learn. Above all I would want a pupil to look forward to my sessions with them so will make sure that they are practical, interesting and varied. If you have any questions at all or specific enquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Personal Description:
I am a British/Turkish citizen and have been living in the UK since 1992.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English/Turkish since 1995. I have also been working as a freelance interpreter and translator since 1993.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach English and Turkish languages at every level. I tailor my teaching according to the tutee's knowledge of the language. Hence I have had tutees with no knowledge of the language at all or some with little knowledge of Turkish or English. I also have had tutees who know English or Turkish well but wish to improve their pronunciations further. I am flexible: I teach in my own home, in tutee's home or give online lessons. I understand a lot of people have other commitments such as jobs, children and the like. Therefore depends on what the tutee wants I give homework or confine my teaching to the lessons. I do a lot of repetition as I believe this is a good way to remember anything learned.

Personal Description:
I am a very patient and dedicated French native speaker. I tailor my lessons to the students' needs and expectations. Tutoring is not just guiding students through their learning but also giving them confidence and enabling them to experience lessons in a relaxed, friendly and yet serious way.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher for over 9 years and have a very diverse experience as I have been working in an Alliance francaise in Mexico, in a language centre, two adult education centres and two tutoring agencies. My first teaching experience was a French Language Assistant in Preston, Lancashire. I have had students ranging from 7 years old to 70+, from absolute beginners to advanced levels. I've given private and group classes and intensive courses (up to 7h a day) in schools and companies. I have over 2000 teaching hours, including more than 700 hours of private tuition (basically in French Literature, French and English as Foreign Languages).

Coming from France where I recently taught French Literature to a student preparing a diploma in Accounting, I am now in charge of two groups of beginner students in a language school and give private tuition (self-employed as well as with two tutoring agencies).

Tutoring Approach:

I am very flexible and know how to adapt my teaching to the specificities and demands of the students.
Understand and be understood! That's the main thing when you learn a language, be able to communicate.

Whether you are a student taking GCSE or A levels in French and need confidence for your exam or you are a professional willing to have a proper conversation with your French colleagues or clients, or just want to enjoy your next holidays in a French-speaking country, whether on a daily basis or intensive classes, we will first talk about what YOU are looking for and how I will help you to achieve your language goals.

Personal Description:
My educational background is focused heavily on mathematics and accountancy possessing high attaining GCSE's and A-Levels in both areas, along with ACCA, ACA, CIA and Masters in Financail Management.

Teaching Experience:

I have been an active tutor for the past 10 years making an instant impact on the performance of my tutees in their examinations and now I have taken a step forward to teach on-line sessions (e.g Skype) at competitive rates if you are willing to get good grades then I assure you that you contacting the right person.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe teaching mathematics in today's current educational climate lacks innovation and depth, thus many students finding such a wonderful subject extremely difficult! I aim to develop confidence in all tutees as well as fully prepare them for their exams catering for all the UK Examination Boards.

Personal Description:
I'm an extremely strong mathematician, scoring top grades through school (including scoring 300/300 in my AS Level Further Maths), and went on to a heavily maths-based degree in Civil Engineering with Management. I'm a GCSE Maths Examiner, so I know exactly what is required to get your target grade.

Aside from teaching Maths, I've had a wide range of experiences - I've helped set up an community project in my friend's village in Tanzania and have taught some of our sponsored students out there. I also work as an actor, and am filling the gaps with supply teaching and private tutoring.

I've recently moved to Watford in summer 2014, so I have lots of gaps to fill with tutoring sessions.

Teaching Experience:

* Teaching and working with young people as a volunteer or professionally since 2004.

* Qualified as a Maths teacher in 2006, and taught in numerous secondary schools, ranging from very challenging schools through to a high performing grammar school.

* Have taught the full ability range from low ability Year 7 through to A Level Further Maths.

* GCSE Maths Examiner since March 2012.

* Tutoring 9-18 year olds since April 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm keen to help pupils understand how maths works, and not simply learn a standard set of instructions to follow to reach the "right" answer.

With the new changes coming to Maths GCSE, having a good understanding is more important than ever - students simply cannot get by on rote-learning the method alone any more. Students need to be able to explain their answer clearly, and I make sure I incorporate this into my lessons.

Of course, approach will vary substantially depending on the student.

Students who are very close to their exams will need more focus on how to get the best result.

With younger students there will be more opportunity to focus on their understanding, and exploring how Maths works. I try to avoid simply teaching "How To Get The Right Answer To This Particular Type Of Exam Question", which might get them through tests in the short term, but is rather less helpful to them in the long term.

As a tutor I'd be choosing the most appropriate approach for the student.

Although I specialise in Maths, I am more than comfortable with science, and can also help students up to secondary school level in this subject. I will also do English with Maths at primary level.

GROUP DISCOUNTS:
* 5 discount per student if working in a pair.
* 10 discount per student in groups of 3 or more.

NOTE: Mostly I'd prefer to tutor from home. I'm on public transport so if you're near good transport links I can also travel to you.

I'm a friendly and easy-going biology enthusiast who enjoys meeting new people, baking and a good cup of tea!

Teaching Experience:

I've professionally tutored biology to young people at various levels for over a year, with some great results. I'm familiar with GCSE, IGCSE, Scottish Standard Grade, Int 2 and Highers, A-Level and IB Biology courses, and have experience of working with a range of abilities and backgrounds. I have tutored both individually and in groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that patience and encouragement are very important in a tutor, as well as an interesting and engaging method of tutoring that makes lessons more memorable! I try to explain things as clearly as possible and often enlist the help of props, metaphors and my stack of multi-coloured pens to provide visual aids.

Personal Description:
I have grown up in East Yorkshire and attended Lancaster University to take a degree in German Studies which I am now finishing on a part-time basis due to personal circumstances. I have always enjoyed German as a language and personally find the history and culture of Germany to be something that is almost second-nature to me, as I have had to both read up on various aspects of the history for my courses in the past, but it's also something I also enjoy doing as a hobby. It might also help that I find the sound of the language to be something quite nuanced and quite different from the stereotype of people yelling at one another.
I enjoy listening to classical music, so it could be seen that I am pretty patient!

Teaching Experience:

When on my year abroad in Germany, I helped tutor Syrians, Moroccans and Tunisians English, as the university I attended on my Erasmus year only taught English for scientific and specialist translation courses, rather than anything outside of specifically engineering or chemical terms.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to tutor in person if at all possible, as my experience of using Skype in the past has been fraught with technical niggles, though it is possible if transport becomes an issue.
Tutoring based on exercises and trying to creatively apply knowledge and lighten the mood as far as possible with the student, I do not really believe in learning by rote, except for maybe things like grammatical declensions. It's essentially about fostering a good working relationship first to then establish where any weaknesses may lie and thusly make concrete a learning objective. E.g. misuse of relative pronouns in a clause could be remedied with exercises involving conjugated pronouns in general.

Personal Description:
I am currently doing my MA having just finished my Biomedical Sciences degree at King's College London. I was my highschool Valedictorian and that alone highlighted to me the key to excellent grades was steady work and persistence more than sheer intelligence.

*I only tutor girls

Teaching Experience:

I have mentored first year undergraduates for two years now. I have also volunteered at the Sharjah Disability Centre and the Snowflake school for Autism and observed the ABA/VB aproach to teaching. I've also regularly tutored a student through their AS and A-level years.

While it depends on the student's learning methods, I usually take the syllabus topic by topic with questions at the end of each lesson to reinforce and discover weak points where more time needs to be spent.

I can also help students with their applications to universities and more specifically with their personal statements.

Tutoring Approach:

I encourage my students to show me what they think of a theory or question and then nudge them in the correct direction. I am a strong believer in understanding the underlying principles and not just blindly learning the mechanisms. Multiple group projects and the Kings Leadership award in honing teamwork and communications have allowed me to finetune different methods of communicating information as well as patience.
