Personal Description:
I am a graduate of Christ Church, Oxford University with a Master's Degree in Mathematics and Philosophy. I am also a fully qualified teacher of Mathematics, currently working at Highgate School, one of London's top independent schools.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in London through the Graduate Teacher Programme, and I am currently working as a teacher of Mathematics at Highgate School in North London.

I have been tutoring mathematics since leaving university, and have worked for clients in locations such as London, the South of France and Moscow. I have tutored students for various qualifications including GCSE, IGCSE, IB and A-level. I have also prepared students for 11+ and 13+ private school entrance exams, and for Oxbridge interviews. I have also taught English as a foreign language in South Korea.

Tutoring Approach:

I take an approach to maths which focusses on understanding, rather than rote learning. This gives students a more flexible approach, and allows them to apply their mathematical skills well to problem solving tasks. I encourage them to use their initiative and to be confident in working independently. I also focus on practising techniques for exam preparation. I aim to make my lessons enjoyable and to focus on areas that students find difficult. While mathematics is my primary subject, I may also be able to give students help in other subjects by arrangement.

Personal Description:
Currently an undergraduate student taking Bachelor of Science Biochemistry at Imperial College London, I have graduated from a UK international school in Singapore (United World College SEA) with IB and GCSE of which the subjects are listed in the qualifications section.
I am a very approachable person and I will create an open and friendly learning environment in which the student can be confident to share his or her difficulties with me without any embarrassment. Learning cannot be done without self motivation and enjoyment. What I aim to do is to teach the students and also implant this self motivation which can assist them to improve further.
I have encountered with many private tutors myself throughout the years of GCSE and IB so I know exactly what kinds of tutors the students require.

Teaching Experience:

Several recent teaching experiences with students at GCSE levels for maths, biology and chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

Maths, Biology and Chemistry: Maths, Biology and Chemistry is all about applying the theories to the questions in correct ways through several manipulations and tricks. Nevertheless this cannot be done without a full understanding of the basic concepts.
By asking the student in what specific area of science they are having particular trouble with, each day I will focus on one specific topic, go through the concepts first and try out questions of different levels of difficulties with the student, finishing off by giving short half-an-hour-worth homework which the students can go through by themselves. The answers can be checked in the next lesson and any wrong answers will be explained. Any school work can be covered together during this time as well.

Economics:
GCSE Economics is all about tackling the questions following the mark scheme and identifying what the examiners want in answers for each question. To do this theories and curves must be understood first.
Different sections within microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics etc will be covered each day, followed by going through short essay questions together to jot down key factors in bullet points.
Help in coursework possible.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic, outgoing and committed person with a positive outlook on life. I am very passionate about Physical Education and Sport and am very adaptable to suit the needs of the individual and understand that everyone learns in a different way. I give everything my all and believe that it is vital to build a positive relationship with those you are teaching to help each individual reach their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have been private tutoring since Sept 2011 and find it very enjoyable and an extremely rewarding experience. I have been tutoring alongside working in Education and have tutored four pupils over the past year. In July 2010 I completed a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education. In 2009 I graduated with a 2:1 honours degree in Coach and Physical Education at The University College Plymouth St Mark and St John. Completing my PGCE and Undergraduate degree has enabled me to work with a wide variety of people and personalities. Both University courses and working in Education have given me the opportunity to develop and gain experience and knowledge in both theoretical and practical aspects of Physical Education. I relate very well to young people and feel that I can help pupils develop a better understanding of the subject through private tutoring. I have taught many areas of PE as well as the practical side I have also taught BTEC sport, GCSE theory, AS and A-level (all areas and both OCR and AQA)

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that understanding the individual in which you are teaching and the way in which they learn is vital. It is important to develop different acitivities to ensure that they are learning the best they can, this may be visually, auditory or kinaesthetically. A complete spectrum of teaching styles, strategies and approaches is needed to create a positive, effective learning environment and I believe that my experience so far has allowed me to develop this approach.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying Geophysics at Imperial College London, Royal School Of Mines. I am an active and friendly person, and truly wish to help students whilst studying the subjects that I use in my everyday life. I have 5 A Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I am particularly qualified to teach the Core Mathematics modules at A level (C1, C2, C3, C4), as well as the Mechanics modules (M1, M2, M3).

Teaching Experience:

I have voluntarily tutored students in mathematics to ensure they pass their GCSE exams. However, on a day-to-day basis, I have consistently helped fellow classmates, giving explanations of the sciences and maths to help them understand the work at GCSE and A Level.

Tutoring Approach:

Students must have easy and reliable methods to ensure the best possible understanding of mathematics and sciences. Once specific examples of questions have been taught, it is important that the student tries the techniques his/herself with guidance. I am a firm believer of 'practice makes perfect', and so I prepare a range of questions that should challenge the student, whilst building their confidence in the subject. However, I understand that time is valuable and sometimes the student may just need help finishing their coursework, and so I will adjust my tutoring approach to suit the individual.

Personal Description:
My name is Dhruv and I'm a student of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath. I have a passion for Science and Mathematics which I will gladly share. I constantly read books on various scientific subjects, and keep myself up to date with the latest discoveries of the day.

I have a 99th Percentile in the AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) and a 98th percentile in the IIT-JEE (Indian Institutes of Technology - Joint Entrance Exam).

I scored the following marks in my AISSCE (Indian A-level equivalent exam): Maths 95%, Chemistry 92%, Physics 90%, Computer Science (C++) 89%

Also, I have a band score of 8/9 in the IELTS exam (International English Language Testing System)

Teaching Experience:

I took advanced placement classes in Science which involved a lot of group study - different members of the group would learn topics and teach each other. Since I have fresh memories of my school days, I am capable of understanding how a newcomer's mind processes new concepts, and the pitfalls they encounter.

I also taught maths to my younger brother and my neighbour's kids for two years before coming to University.

Update: I've been teaching two A-level Physics and Maths students who I met through UKTutors for the past three months. I have been able to help them increase their confidence, and raise their test scores by about 10-15%

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring focuses on bringing out a sense of wonder and excitement when encountering the beauty of Science. I try not focus on the final result (grades), but instead try to teach the students how to think and approach new problems.

While this approach is less effective on a short-term, it is very good for the long-term. Once the student is motivated, they find the act of learning to be a pleasurable experience and rapidly rise to the top of their class.

I will primarily focus on clearing doubts about specific areas of the subject, or help with problem-solving rather than going through the entire course. I'm willing to travel, but ideally I would prefer to teach online over Skype.

Personal Description:
I am an engaging and approachable tutor who loves teaching and makes learning interesting and enjoyable. However, I am strict and expect tutees' cooperation and regular input throughout the learning process. I am entirely honest with parents and tutees about progress.

I hold a BSc in Microbiology from UCL, an MSc in Biochemistry for Sussex University, A PhD in Molecular Biology from John Innes Institute/UEA and have researched and lectured at Imperial College London. I was the Director of Medical Programme and am currently the Head of Science at a London school.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught A Level (AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC) full-time for 18 years and am fully aware of examiner's requirement for all the boards. I train students fully for UKCAT and the Biology aspects of BMAT. Many of my tutees have gone on to score 100% in A level units and one has achieved 600/600 overall. Tutees, after a comparatively short period of time, improve their A Level score by several grades (E to A is a possibility).

For over 17 years I have helped students with their UCAS applications for degree courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and Medically-related subjects such as Pharmacy, Optometry, Physiotherapy amongst others. I have also taught undergraduate students in Medicine, Dentistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics.

Tutoring Approach:

As a specialist in exam-focused, intensive tuition, I primarily teach with emphasis on understanding and provide clear, concise class notes. I help students to organise revision materials that are specifically aimed at ensuring exactly what is required in answers (be it data or applied questions), how to manage time in exams, and provide strategies and tactics to maximise success.

I have organised booklets of past exam questions (covering almost 10 years of exams) in each topic for each board which will be given as Homework to help students apply their knowledge and therefore, learn exam technique (in their own specific board). Therefore, strengths and weaknesses can be addressed.

Personal Description:
I am a 22 year old graduate with a first class degree in History from the University of Oxford, and I am looking to tutor GCSE and A-Level students.

During my degree I achieved a first class grade in preliminary and final examinations, and I won the Oriel Society Arts Prize for outstanding achievement in first year. I received Oriel college scholarships in my second and third year based on the previous year's work, and also recently received the Shannon Prize for outstanding achievement across my three year degree.

I received very high marks at History A-Level, and 100% in my English Literature exams.

Having been through the Oxbridge entrance examination and interview process, and coming from state school education, I can advise and provide mock interviews for any student considering applying to Oxford or Cambridge.

Teaching Experience:

I gained classroom experience in April 2013, taking a year 13 English Literature class who were preparing for their A-Level exam on Andrew Marvell. I was invited back in September 2013 to give the same presentation to this year's students.

I took part in the Mold Alun paired reading scheme, spending time each day to improve the reading of younger students.

I have helped history applicants to Oxford and Cambridge with mock interviews and advice in 2011 and 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

My priority is to make the subject content engaging and genuinely interesting - a fact or quotation that means something to a student will be much more easily remembered during the exam.

Tutorial sessions will be structured and all relevant content covered, but they will not take the form of a lecture. I encourage students to talk through their own ideas and let their feelings be known. From recent experiences in sixth form and university, the classes with dialogue between tutor and students were always the most enjoyable and most successful.

English: I like to introduce a new piece of writing in each session to prepare the GCSE student for the unseen part of the exam. For A-Level, I encourage the student to make brief comparative remarks between the set text and another work by the same author, which greatly impresses the examiner.

History: As well as covering the content, I like to give the student exam technique and essay writing practice in order that knowledge and facts can be used to full effect alongside general skills of analysis and understanding, which are required for dealing with primary sources.

Politics: I encourage using recent news stories as examples in essays, as these help to make theoretical concepts recognisable and easier to relate to. Showing an up to date knowledge of politics is also impressive to the examiner.

Personal Description:
I am currently a mathematics PhD student at the University of Sheffield. I hold a first class MMath degree from the University of Warwick. I am happy to take students at any level and work towards whatever personal or academic goals they might have. I am easy to speak to and interested in helping people develop their mathematical skills and understanding.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped in several classes for various undergraduate mathematics classes at The University of Sheffield and The University of Warwick. While an undergraduate I ran a drop in session to help other students with assignments.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the underpinnings of success in mathematics are conceptual understanding and problem solving strategies. If one understands the concepts behind an idea in mathematics then this frees up the need to remember arbitrary rules and facts and allows one to concetrate on the more challenging aspects of a problem. There are many aspects to problem solving but perhaps most significant is the ability to break down a problem into its constituent parts. In teaching, explaining and thinking about mathematics these are the crucial aspects which I like to emphasise.

Personal Description:
I am currently reading a BMus in Piano Performance (3rd year) at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Prof. Pascal Nemirovski. Prior to my studies at the university I did my A-levels at Södra Latins Gymnasium in Stockholm, specializing in music, graduating with the highest mark. Apart from performing solo and with ensemble, I enjoy teaching and have had many piano pupils over the past few years.

Teaching Experience:

During the past few years I have had students on different levels, ranging from complete beginners to quite advanced. What I find most inspiring and rewarding is when the student shows will and engagement in the playing of the piano.

Tutoring Approach:

In my lessons, I strive to achieve a productive yet joyful atmosphere and try to adjust the lessons to every student, so that they get the best out of the coaching sessions. In order to have a clear structure during the lessons, I highly recommend the use of tutor books, mostly written by professors at diverse musical institutions. Naturally my aim is to help my students reach their set goals for their piano playing, regardless of the desired level of proficiency. I teach pupils on every level, believing that it is crucial to establish a correct foundation early on, in order to be able to progress much more in the long run. For those interested in obtaining the ABRSM diplomas in Piano and/or Music Theory, I am qualified to teach them and have taken the examinations myself.
