Personal Description:
I am passionate about the subjects I tutor in and education in general. Education forms the foundation for freeing us from bigotry and ignorance, makes us better people and permits us to live richer, better lives. Knowledge is liberating and my subjects especially open many doors. They are not easy and require a willingness to work hard, but I strongly believe that anyone can get to grips with them if given the correct guidance. Most often the problem is not the student but a poor teacher, unresolved conceptual difficulties or lack of motivation. I want to fix these issues for you.

I used to work as a research physicist at Cambridge University in an indefinable capacity. I had several years of poor physical health (fit and healthy now) that made funding an issue, so I was an unofficial PhD student researching quantum computing and foundational issues in physics.

I have always have had a dual interest in the arts and philosophy, literature in particular. I've written a novel and several full length plays as well as directing at the student theatre in Cambridge and making short films. I recently decided to form my own film production company and work full time as a writer and director for films and plays. Our first short film is in production and we are applying for funding for a feature.

I'd say my approach to education is rigorous, highly intellectual and what one might term renaissance in approach. I'm interested in all aspects of education, and how our disparate academic disciplines connect which is somewhat antithetical to the modern approach to education but just the sort of thing one needs to get into Oxbridge and the like.

Why is tutoring important to me? Firstly, I feel it is my responsibility to pass on the knowledge and skills I have attained; secondly, I find it satisfying to help others learn and achieve what they did not think possible, regardless of their ability; and finally, I think one of the best ways to assess your own understanding of a subject is to teach it; we learn the most about our areas of expertise when we try convey their concepts and methods to an audience.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored many (over 100) students privately over the past six years, improving their results in all cases where the students have followed my advice and worked hard

I have experience of teaching children as young as five through to graduates and am happy to work one to one, in small groups or in a classroom.

I also help set up and run and small charity to improve the educational standards of recent immigrants in inner city London where I taught all ages of students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am patient and I persevere. I am happy to tutor people across all ranges of ability but i expect you to work hard and follow my advice.

My tutoring includes:

- free initial consultation with needs assessment and lesson
- encouragement of free and critical thinking
- varying teaching methods depending on what the student is most receptive to including: problem based learning, discourse, traditional exercises, experiments, lectures
- exam preparation
- confidence building
- resolution of conceptual difficulties
- helping with homework
- homework marking
- undergraduate and postgraduate application advice
- coaching for Oxbridge entrance including the STEP papers
- interview advice at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- email contact throughout the week to resolve your problems as an when they arise
- group tuition

Please note (a) while I am based in Hackney, I will cover East, central and South London; (b) I can offer reductions for group sessions.

Personal Description:
My name is Robbie. I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Kings College London. Prior to this I studied medicine for 2 years before deciding to change my degree. Recently married, however no children of my own just yet, I currently work as a finance and operations manager for Marks and Spencer PLC and my wife is currently studying for her PGCE. I am a well rounded person able get on well with students of all different types and ages. Patient and resourceful in my approach I have never had a problem helping and teaching others.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching during my 6th form when I began tutoring friends and family's children, helping them with entrance exam papers as well as teaching guitar and piano. However since graduating, and also during my studies, I began tutoring on a more serious level and have since seen several students successfully through their GCSE's in sciences and maths, as well as tutored students short term in the run up to their exams. 100% pass rate all achieving A and B grades so far.

Tutoring Approach:

It is a cliche, but actually absolutely true, that people find subjects or ideas difficult for different reasons and learn more comfortably in different ways. My approach has always been to be patient and be absolutely clear and concise in what I am saying and teaching, understanding quickly where someone is struggling. Often clearing up one little concept or area of confusion can make things click in to place. Combine this with working through examples and some personal practice from the students in their own time guarantees success.

In terms of lesson planning it depends on how long I shall be tutoring for, or in other words how soon a particular exam may be! In the short term I will focus on a person's weaknesses, exam technique and practice questions. If providing longer term tuition, here I aim not to simply prepare someone for their exam but to teach and build an enjoyment for the subject as well. Teaching skills and knowledge that will benefit a person through all their studies.

Generally I use the first lesson to gain an overview as to where the student needs help and from this decide how to plan our lessons. I am happy to provide past papers and homework questions as required. I believe there is no reason why students should not achieve A's or B's at GCSE level in any of my subjects.

Personal Description:
I grew up in the UK and then worked in Indonesia for 10 years, teaching Indonesian scholars on pre-departure academic programs. I also taught cross-cultural and study skills courses. After Indonesia, I moved to Australia, where I worked at two universities in Brisbane, the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. More recently I have worked on Exeter and Bath University's pre-sessional program. I'm a friendly, kind and patient person with a good sense of humour and I love teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 20 years, mainly in the UK, Australia and Indonesia. I have experience working with English language learners at all levels and particularly at the university level. I can prepare students before their academic study or can assist them when they have already started university.
I am also very experienced in exam preparation. Most of my work has been on IELTS preparation courses (I used to be an IELTS examiner) but also on FCE preparation programs. I currently teach students in groups and one-to-one and I am available for Skype classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it's important to listen to students and identify their individual needs. I try and see them as they are, without judgment and I also encourage them to see the facts about their language learning, rather than their opinions. Many students say they are 'bad students' and this does not help their learning. So I show them a different path where they can look at the specifics of what they are doing and how they can improve their skills step by step. This makes them feel better about themselves and their studies. It also gives them responsibility for their own learning.
I also bring humour into the classroom as I feel laughter is very important to the learning process. Some students have said that my classes are 'like being in a family' and I think that's a lovely compliment.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the University of Glasgow, holding a First Class MA in English Literature and Film and Television Studies. In addition to my degree, I was also awarded the Robert W. Service Prize and the James Boswell Bursary, both granted for academic excellence.
In addition to my academic achievements, I am also a widely published author of novels and short stories, with books available in all good bookshops. In keeping with my passion for film and television, I am a photographer, filmmaker and live performer, and write articles on media developments in Scotland for print and online publications.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years' experience teaching English, Film & TV, Media and reading and writing skills to pupils of all ages and backgrounds.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to keep pupils engaged with and interested in the subject at hand, as too often it is far too easy to alienate students with excessive rote and routine. I am also a great believer in treating each of my students as an individual, as opposed to adopting a "one-size-fits-all" approach dependent solely on set texts and a given curriculum. Whilst bearing these restrictions and final examinations in mind, I can help students to think laterally and imaginatively, hopefully concluding their studies without having developed a loathing for the subject in question!
I really enjoy teaching: I am passionate about giving something back from my own learning experiences and hope I can be of some help to those who may need a bit of extra guidance.

Personal Description:
I was born in Pakistan but I was brought up in London. I did my secondary education in Brampton manor Academy which is located in London. Then I did my A levels in Newvic sixth form college. In college I have studying Law, ICT and forensic science. Forensic science is a subject that will provide me with a good foundation in science. Furthermore I selected ICT as an A Level as this subject will help to develop my technical skills, such as booking appointments at work, carrying out independent research on the new to look for new engaging ideas. Studying A-Level Law as enhanced by essay writing and comprehensive reading skills. These skills are important for life at work as I am aware that working life requires independent work and extensive research to complete the tasks at work.

Teaching Experience:

I have completed my work experience in Nelson Primary School. During my period in school, I was involved with a group of year 6 students, teaching them about numeracy and algebra. This practise has made me more confident in talking to different people from various age groups. I have developed a lot of skills as I feel my communication skills have improved and both my oral, written and listening skills are developed as well. Moreover I have also worked in George Green children centre, which is a nursery school. In that time I have gained a variety of understanding about managing and monitoring different tasks. The most vital thing which I have gained during this experience was organisation skills; this involves keeping my surrounding organised and it plays a key role in helping you get things achieved.

Tutoring Approach:

This is the first time I am on tutoring as a full time. I am a very hard working person. I plan out my work routines and make good use of time as in my free time. I always meet my deadlines and give my work of high quality and to the best of my ability. I believe that tutoring will finally give me an opportunity to do what I have always been interested in. I believe that Socialising is very essential, and I always love to meet new people. and i will do my best to teach the candidates to a great level.

Personal Description:
I offer tuition in maths for all ages, up to and including Maths and Further Maths A-levels. I also offer coaching for Numeracy and Numerical Reasoning tests such as SHL recruitment selection tests. If you need a bit of extra help for an upcoming exam, or even if you are just keen to widen your skills base with some general functional mathematics coaching, I would be keen to help.

Teaching Experience:

I am a full-time maths teacher in the Warwickshire area with a number of years' experience both tutoring and teaching, and currently teaching all ages and abilities from year 7 to A-level Maths and Further Maths, including the new Further Maths Level 2 qualification which is an excellent bridge between top-end GCSE and the start of A-level Maths. I am a Maths graduate from the University of Warwick, and I hold a PGCE from Warwick Institute of Education. I have a full Enhanced Disclosure CRB.

Tutoring Approach:

I appreciate how difficult and disheartening it can be to struggle with maths, but I also believe that, when presented in the right way, it can be both interesting and enjoyable (as well as extremely useful!) I favour a student-driven style of tutoring, with an emphasis on finding the root causes of any difficulties in order to strengthen a base of understanding before jumping forward to new topics.
