Personal Description:
I have 5 years experience working as a Spanish teacher in secondary schools in London teaching years 7 to 13, and my exam classes have a very good track record. I have worked with both Edexcel and AQA in this time, so I know what it takes to get the best grades, especially at GCSE. I am also very happy to work with younger children, helping them to feel more confident with mastering the basics in a language. If your child needs extra support or practice with any particular area, just let me know.

I have made several trips to South America, and have lived in Chile and Spain. I am also a fan of Spanish and Latin American films and literature, so if you would like to incorporate some more cultural aspects into lessons just let me know, as this can be very motivating.

Teaching Experience:

I am PGCE qualified, CRB checked, and have been working as a Spanish teacher for the last 5 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I get on well with children and young people, and would be happy to focus on any area with which they needed extra help. Sessions would be individually tailored and at the student's own pace. If there are any specific texts, exam boards or textbooks with which the pupil is working I would request some advance warning of this.

English
Science

Early years

Tutoring Approach:

Due to high demand I now only offer group sessions for the 11+. The 11+ is an extremely challenging examination and few children are able to pass without additional help. I push all of my children to achieve the best possible result. For many children the 11+ is not appropriate and this is discussed with parents at the free assessment. It is usually apparent after an hour assessment of the child, whether or not they are capable of passing the exam.
I am now taking bookings for January 2015. Places are available for year 4 and 5 children.
Group sessions will be 1 1/2 hours each week and will consist of 45 minutes of maths and 45 minutes of English. Lessons are charged at 20 with a free trial lesson.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to reserve a place for your son or daughter or if you wish to discuss things further.

Personal Description:
I am a Greek native speaker and I have been teaching English and Greek for the past seven years.

I would be happy to help you learn the Greek or English language as I really enjoy my work and I have always found it interesting to teach students from different countries.

I can help students of all levels and I can provide conversation classes as well. Knowledge of the Greek as well as English cultures can also be integrated in the lessons.

I have been working in language schools in Greece for the last seven years, teaching English and Greek mainly to Greek students of all levels. I have also been giving private lessons of both languages to young learners and adults.

In terms of online teaching, I have been teaching adults online, especially Greek Australians and Greek Americans who want to reconnect with their roots.

This summer I worked at summer schools in England while at the moment I am working in London, teaching English and Greek.

Teaching Experience:

September 2012-present: Teaching Assistant at Jubilee Primary School in North London.

August 2012-September 2012: Worked at Edgware Academy in London preparing international students for the Trinity exams.

2005-12: Work as a freelance English teacher giving private lessons to children and teenagers.

________
2008-12: Work as a freelance Greek teacher helping students with their school homework.

2010-present: Work as a freelance Greek teacher teaching adults (mainly Greek Australians) online.

Tutoring Approach:

I should say that the lesson and activities depend on my students' needs each time so that each lesson is different to cater for those needs. In general, however, in my lessons I follow the stages of a well-balanced lesson focusing on all skills each time. We start off with an activity that will introduce the topic, continue with the main activities -eg analysing a text, listening to a recording- and finishing up with a task that will help students either produce a short text or take part in a speaking where they will use what they have learned and give them a sense of achievement.

In each lesson I give students practice in all the skills- listening, writing, speaking and reading. The texts are authentic for the most part -taken form newspapers, magazines or blogs- while the sources of the recordings are tv shows, radio broadcasts, podcasts etc. The writings will vary according to the students' needs so it can either entail a short description or an official letter to a public service. Emphasis is placed on speaking as the more students speak the better they will become in it. Practice makes perfect!

As you see, I place emphasis on authentic material as this is more motivating for the students and also familiarises them with the culture. The latter is also achieved by the extensive use of multimedia both during the lesson and outside-the-class.

Personal Description:
I am 29 years old and have been teaching A level and GCSE English and history at sixth form college for seven years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding pass rates and innovative teaching methods, my English department has been awarded a grade 1 'Outstanding' for the past 4 years. I have a passion for English and history, and take great pride in providing an excellent education to all of my students, seeing it as crucial to success in their later careers.

Teaching Experience:

I have a broad range of experience turning around failing classes, as well as challenging high achieving students. In my teaching career thus far I have taught a wide age range from 9-18 years, and specialise in teaching troubled students and those lacking confidence, as well as pushing very bright pupils. Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates have received a 25% upwards leap in two years, so that the vast majority of my classes are now passing with high academic grades and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. With these excellent results I have now been made an advanced teaching practitioner, tasked with passing on my skills to other teachers and helping drive up standards

Tutoring Approach:

Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them and this has shown to bring both personal and academic growth, which is always pleasing to see. Moreover, in strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students, to provide them with the skills they need to excel in later life, I seek to provide them with only the finest education possible.

Personal Description:
I am a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) teacher at a mixed grammar school in North Kent. I am very passionate about French, Spanish and Italian, which I studied at university and thoroughly enjoy my job teaching these languages! Whilst at university, I spent an academic year living in the South-East of Spain, totally immersed in the language and culture of the amazing country, and giving me the opportunity to travel around it at weekends and during the holidays. I have since been to Cuba and Mexico, providing me with a greater insight, first-hand, into the Hispanic world. I have also enjoyed an academic year on the French speaking Caribbean island of Guadeloupe and spells in Chambery, France and Rome, Italy. In my free time I enjoy film, theatre, reading, running and socialising.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach in a grammar school where I also have a position as Specialism Leader, meaning that I organise language-orientated events and opportunities for our students and students from other schools in the borough as well as training for teachers. My training whilst studying to be a teacher was in a mixed state school and an all boys state school in Oxfordshire. I have been involved in teaching and assisting in the MFL classroom since my university years; teaching English in a secondary school in Spain and in a primary school in Guadeloupe. During my second year at university, I worked voluntarily as an MFL classroom assistant in a school in Surrey, for which I won a borough-wide award. I have also taught English to adults, and so, as you can see, have experience working with learners of all ages. In school, I teach my languages to all three Key Stages. My teaching at Key Stage 5 includes preparing students for the International Baccalaureate (IB)); I am therefore familiar with the present examination requirements in MFLs. As well as being an MFL teacher, I am TESOL qualified to teach English as a second/additional language and enjoyed working a number of summers and during other holidays at a private school in Berkshire for students from overseas.

Tutoring Approach:

Whether teaching a whole class or tutoring one-to-one, my approach to teaching and learning is enthusiastic, thorough and varied as well as professional. I really aim to support students in their learning and in how they go about learning as well as in their confidence in and enjoyment of the subject. I have worked with a number of students of different ages, in different languages and at different stages of their learning one-to-one and adapt my teaching styles, materials and exercises accordingly.
