Personal Description:
Having graduated from Oxford with a First in Classics, I am now on the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. This involves teaching at a secondary school in Birmingham, seeking to develop as a teacher and ultimately, a leader. I love my subject but I particularly love teaching it, as it allows me to be intellectually stimulated while seeking to impart to others some of the reasons Classics inspires me. In fact, I enjoy teaching anything, engaging with young people and developing their talents. This is why my main subject on Teach First is actually Maths, a subject which I feel allows young people to open doors in their future lives.
Having scored 598 out of 600 at A level English Lit., and come in the top 5 in the country for GCSE English Language, I would also be happy to teach either English Language or Literature: my degree has allowed me to continue my passion for both the intricacies of language and the wider possibilities of texts.
It is worth pointing out that I live in Birmingham but am down quite often in London.

Teaching Experience:

I taught at a secondary school during my gap year for 5 months, where I was active in the classroom assisting the teaching. I even held some lessons unsupervised, of classes up to AS level, and found it hugely rewarding.
Later I volunteered at a Kindergarten in Israel for a month, gaining some valuable experience teaching younger children. Despite some language difficulties, I found I was able to contribute meaningfully.
I have done one-to-one tutoring for children ranging in age from 8 to 18, on both a residential and visiting basis.
I have recently been accepted onto the Teach First Leadership Development Programme, a 2-year scheme for teacher training where participants work towards a PGCE whilst working in some of the most deprived schools in the country.

Tutoring Approach:

Both as a student and a tutor I have found that private tuition is an ideal complement to the classroom - it allows individuals to shine in ways one may not expect, and provides an opportunity to work closely on exactly what the student needs.
I start by trying to get an accurate picture of a student's work and situation, by reading some of their work beforehand and/or having a detailed conversation, enabling me to proceed on a personal basis. I believe firmly in the value of a thorough knowledge of grammar, syntax and idiom, so seek to enthuse the pupil with the pleasure that comes from understanding how these work. In addition, the more creative aspects of my subjects allow for lively debate, to which I also attribute great importance.
With such an approach I hope to give education and enjoyment: the fundamental aim for me is that the experience of learning with a tutor goes beyond anything the pupil has experienced before in the subject.

I have taught dancing for 10 years at a private dance school and also within primary and high schools. I invigilate high school exams and have personal tutored several students through GCSE to obtain A grades.

FEEDBACK!

I do believe homework is essential between sessions to practice what we have covered during our time together. I do like to incorporate games where appropriate and work with the student to discuss how they feel they can learn best and get the most from our sessions.

Personal Description:
In recent years I have acquired a passion for SQL Server databases and especially the optimization thereof. I love to prove that the impossible can be done. I have been building computer systems and software applications since the age of 15 which later evolved into intelligent corporate solutions. I am always happy and have a very friendly personality and attitude towards life. I also enjoy cycling and I'm a SkyRide Leader I also volunteer with St John Ambulance.

Teaching Experience:

I'm a full time enterprise software developer. I use the following languages on a daily basis: C#, VB.Net, HTML, Javascript, SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS. I have done many training sessions for colleagues at work and also trained people with no experience at all.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very open and easy going approach to training. I make sure that everything that is questioned is understood not just explained. I spend as much time as required to ensure the student understands. I believe in the following quote, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough" - Albert Einstein, and help students achieve this.

Personal Description:
I am a professional accountant with PTLLS Level 4 teaching qualification, and I deliver excellent, high quality teaching with tremendous motivational effect, and all my students have loved and praised my teaching methods and style. I am passionate about teaching and nothing thrills me more than imparting my knowledge to others. I taught some A Level Accounting students, whose school teachers predicted they would each achieve a grade D, but with my one to one, personal high quality and methodical teaching, they achieved either grade C or above.

Teaching Experience:

From April 2010 to date:

Currently, I provide one to one personal tuition to students taking the following Accounting Examinations:

- AS & A2 Accounting
- ABE (The Association of Business Executives) certificate, diploma & Post-Graduate levels Accounting
- BA Business Accounting
- AAT at all levels
- Business Studies Accounting Modules and
- ACCA Foundation Level Accounting Papers F1, F2 & F3.

April 2010 to March 2012 - Stanfords College UK, Norbury, London and London College of Wimbledon.

I was a freelance, part-time Accounting Lecturer at the above named colleges, teaching ABE (The Association of Business Executives) Introduction to Accounting, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting and Corporate Finance Papers within the Diploma Levels courses, and ACCA Papers F1 - Accounting in Business, F2 - Management Accounting and F3 - Financial Accounting.

July 2008 to April 2010

I supported a young student who was studying for BA Business Accounting at the university by tutoring her in the Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Analysis and Corporate Finance subjects. As a result, she achieved a 2:1 Grade. It is pertinent to note that the young student did not have any prior knowledge in Accounting. She took A Level Drama, but changed to do Accounting at the university, which makes her achievement much more remarkable.

Tutoring Approach:

In my current role as an Accounts Lecturer, I have adopted a methodical approach to my teaching. The preparation and use of scheme of work, session planning, syllabuses, timetable, lesson notes and handouts helps me in presenting my lessons in an organised and logical manner, and ensuring that the syllabuses are substantially covered. I am confident and positive in my teaching and able to build confidence in the students themselves, which helps in achieving the learning objectives set for each lesson and thereby achieving the overall objectives of the course. I adopt a mixture of pedagogical and andragogical approach to my teaching. I thoroughly explain first to the students, demonstrate a couple of examples, then get the students to demonstrate their understanding, by getting them to do some work themselves.

Personal Description:
I have recently returned to the UK after a number of years of teaching overseas, mainly in schools in the Arabian Gulf. I began teaching in the mid-1970's, so have a wealth of experience of a range of educational qualifications. I also have experience in managing schools, up to and including at Principal level.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my career, I have always taught English Language and Literature, mostly to Secondary age students, covering O and A Levels, GCSE and IGCSE, as well as TOEFL, IELTS and US SATs. I have taught large classes in UK secondary schools, as well as small groups in international schools. My students have frequently succeeded up to and beyond their expectations at all levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one-to-one tutoring helps, above all, to encourage and support a young person, who may be feeling that they are not succeeding in their school studies. I prefer to tutor in the student's home environment as this helps in boosting his or her confidence. I have tutored many students throughout my career, and I would say that my approach is demanding but fair.

Personal Description:
I am about to begin my 4th year reading for a masters in Natural Sciences at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. I achieved four A*s at A-level, in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry and prior to that had achieved six A*s at GCSE. I have also taken part in Olympiads, gaining a Gold Medal in the Physics Olympiad and Silver in the Chemistry Olympiad. I also won an academic scholarship to Tonbridge School where I was a prefect. I take an active role in charity, having organised two large charitable events at school. Sport is a large part of my life too, captaining my college Cricket team as well as the 2nd XI Hockey team. I am available to tutor in my Holiday time.

Teaching Experience:

As a Prefect at school I would often help other pupils with their work. In addition, I was a member of a school online tutoring scheme where we had to help pupils from The Marsh Academy with any problems they had academically.

Tutoring Approach:

I hope not just to teach my students how to excel in their exams but to make them enjoy the subject and want to learn more through passing on my own love of the subject. This means that in the run up to exams I will teach to the exam, through doing practice papers and learning good exam technique, and otherwise will teach the broader, more interesting areas of the subject.

Personal Description:
Hello I am a native French tutor. I not only teach French because it is my mother tongue but because I think it is a very beautiful and interesting language but also a difficult one to learn. I have had to learn myself two foreign languages, English and Spanish, and I know how difficult and frustrating it can get but I also know how rewarding it is when you make progress.

Teaching Experience:

I am now working as a French Assistant in WGSB in Watford with A-level students, my part being to help them prepare their oral exam. It is my second year in WGSB and I really enjoy the task. I have also worked for a French Language school giving daily 3 hours lessons to teenagers and younger children from around world who come to France to improve their knowledge of French. In Spain where I lived for 7 years I gave private French tutoring lessons mostly to Adults. I also came to give Spanish initiation courses for immigrants.

Tutoring Approach:

Languages are made of vocabulary, grammar rules and barbaric sounds you just cannot get to pronounce sometimes:). They also reflect and convey a culture and a way of life which should be a part of the learning, especially as it seems to me that those cultural elements are the ones which can actually make the learning easier and more varied. And finally but not least I think learning a language has to be playful and agreeable, otherwise you will unconsciously reject the language and progress will be made much more difficult. Learning about others and learning to communicate in a different language is a great experience. Try it:)

I am a German native speaker with 13 years of English and German teaching experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have been giving private tuitions since the age of 13. In the first year of my BA I completed the CELTA course and taught EFL in language schools the following summers. In 2009 I completed a PGCE in German and French at the University of Cambridge and have worked in secondary schools, colleges, academies, language schools and as a tutor since then.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a dedicated, enthusiastic and reliable teacher. I believe that students learn best through positive interaction and exposure to culture and as a result I teach a lot with books, the radio, films and newspapers. Learning languages should be a fun and natural process and students are encouraged to set and pursue their own goals with my help.
