Personal Description:
I am now only accepting online students due to time constraints.
I'm a 40 year old documentary researcher for the BBC. Its my job to meet new contacts on a daily basis and as a result I'm outgoing and extremely personable. I have to Research new subjects from scratch in order to make informative programmes therefore I can take any subject matter and work hard to have a good understanding of it in a very short space of time. Much of the subject matter I learn is Science based.

I really enjoy teaching people new things, especially helping Students to understand subject that they have always found difficult. I understand that everyone learns in different ways and that one method of teaching doesn't work with everyone. By getting to know peoples personality, I can discover the individual ways in which they learn. This is so important in forming relationships with Students and finding out the best way I can help them to understand new subjects.

I'm patient and good humoured and am good at making people feel relaxed in my company however I will push to ensure that the students take their work seriously.

Teaching Experience:

6 years home and online tutoring students aged from 12 upwards in coursework, essay/report writing, exam revision and preparation. Tutoring sessions include tips in how to maximise exam marks.

3 months tutoring children in basic numeracy and literacy in the Philippines.

Tutoring Approach:

Its my daily job to take complicated information and unravel it so that it can be conveyed in simple terms and understood by people of all ages.

I can teach a range of subjects in a way that makes them simple to understand and in a style adapted to each student's personality. I'm also skilled at writing reports and essays, particularly understanding all the applied thinking that needs to be demonstrated to gain extra marks.

I love teaching and pass on my enthusiasm to my students. I believe that it's essential to build up the pupil's confidence in their own ability to learn in order for them to become more interested and approach learning in a more focused way.

I always supply the students with extra Q&A revision papers so that they can continue learning outside tutorials.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, relaxed and patient French-born tutor with nearly 20 years experience in teaching French as a second language.

I graduated as a teacher of French and English as a foreign language from International House, Green Park, London in 2000.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught pupils of all ages and levels during my career as a private tutor, and I provide tailored tuition for all purposes (help with school exams, conversational French etc).

My previous pupils included young children (beginner level), students (mainly GCSE and A Level French), adults (advanced French), as well as members of the United Nations (I was the appointed tutor for the Canadian branch of the UN based in Northwood for a few years).

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring provides solid grounding work on the structure of the French language (grammar and spelling rules, for example) to form the basis of a strong grasp of the language which my students can build upon at every stage of their learning. I use a wide variety of methods, depending on the student's personal needs, to ensure that my students' weaknesses in any area of the language are properly addressed.

In my opinion, learning a language also needs to be a pleasant experience, therefore I always try my best to make my lessons fun, interesting and meaningful for the people I teach. Please do expect to get a bit of homework to complete between lessons; I don't "drown" my students in homework but it helps keeping the mind fresh on what has been worked on from lesson to lesson, and it is an important part in the process of learning to get the opportunity to keep track of where the students are at every stage of their learning.

Personal Description:
I am an Aeronautical Engineering undergraduate at Imperial College London and so my academic strengths lie in Mathematics and Physics. I am an enthusiastic tutor who is punctual, approachable, friendly and will make the learning process engaging and enjoyable.

In my free time, I enjoy playing football, running and swimming. I am also employed as a Lifeguard at a local Leisure Centre.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored GCSE and A-level Maths, Further Maths and Physics to friends in High School and Sixth-Form and my most recent tutee required assistance in University level Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

Through studying Engineering, I can bring an approach to tutoring that not only will improve academic performance but can also provide an insight into the significance of what you're studying. This is very motivating and stimulates creativity - an aspect which is poorly explored by the national curriculum.

I am very committed to the high standard of my tutoring. I will assess your strengths and weaknesses and adapt the lessons based on your needs. I will provide handouts and suggest reading material as necessary. I will challenge you to leave your comfort zone - at no point will I "spoon-feed" you the answers as this doesn't help you understand what is really going on. I can also help prepare you for academic interviews at university and assist in UCAS applications. Of course, I will make this a fun and enriching experience that will give you a thorough preparation for exams and beyond.

I took exams in all of the pure core modules across both Maths and Further Maths A-levels as well as exams in Mechanics, Statistics and Decision Maths.

I am more than capable of tutoring Foundation (grades C and below) and Higher Maths (A*-C) at GCSE level.

I am also happy to assist in GCSE and A-level Physics.

Personal Description:
Hi,
My name is Andrew. I am a PhD student, living in Exeter. My PhD is in Clinical Veterinary Science with the University of Bristol and Rothamsted Research. As an undergraduate I studied Biology with Applied Environmental Science at Keele University and achieved a 1st Class BSc (Hons). I have studied/worked at four universities in three different countries and have also done research for two research organisations. I have a broad range of experience having conducted Environmental Impact Assessments, used by Staffordshire County Council, worked with Orangutans in Malaysia, and studied wheat production in China. My current work focuses upon parasitic infections within farm animals. My breadth of experience means I have a knowledge in the small, such as genetics and molecular biology, up to large ecosystem biology. I have a real passion for the sciences and I feel that comes across and get's passed on to others.

Teaching Experience:

I have demonstrated in undergraduate labs for the University of Bristol Veterinary, teaching practical and theoretical work. On numerous occasions Keele University have asked me to come back or to contact younger students to advise them, an opportunity I always relish. Through my non-academic life I have been a Scout Leader and Lifeguard and am used to teaching and educating individuals from all walks of life.

Tutoring Approach:

It is important that students understand and not simply learn facts. I aim to make students reach the answers themselves by taking them through a logical process. Not only does this allow them to understand why answers are as they are, but it also develops a skill that is extremely important at higher levels such as A-levels and degrees. Whilst biological systems are often extremely complex I find it is normally possible to break them down and explain them in a simple manner before building upon details afterwards. For example: the process of DNA replication can be compared to that of a zip and enzyme binding can be compared to a lock and key.

My essay and report writing have always gained me high marks and, especially at degree level, I am very aware of what is asked of students and what gains access to the higher marks.
