Personal Description:
I am a native French speaker and I recently graduated in Mechanical Engineering. I have always been passionate about Maths and Physics. I like to share my passion with people, especially those whom I can help, and make these subjects accessible to all. I also love promoting my language in as many ways as I can.
I understand that it is very important to tailor learning to individual needs and I adapt myself to any situation.

Teaching Experience:

I have been giving casual tuition at secondary school level as well as University level to friends and family. I also explained Maths and Mechanics to university fellow students and friends when they needed help to understand topics I had mastered.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to find interesting ways to explain when the student is confronted to a problem he cannot solve. I make a point of leading my students to their goal while setting good working standards. I like to transmit my dedication to my pupils.

Personal Description:
My name is Resham and I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2010 where I read Economics.
I studied Economics, Mathematics and Modern History for A-Level, and English Literature at AS-Level, achieving A-grades in all of them.

I worked for nearly two years at the FSA, working on financial regulation and Economic Risk and am currently an Economic Advisor to an MP where I focus on Economics.

I have continued tutoring due to my love of teaching and I believe that it benefits both me, and the student.

Teaching Experience:

In 2013, I tutored six students through to their exams. Out of those, all six achieved higher grades than predicted, (or were predicted As and got them) and three of these students were in their final year, and achieved the grades necessary to get into their University choices.

I have over 200 hours of experience in preparing students for University- helping students with their personal statements and interview technique. I have also worked for Oxbridge Applications and have been trained extensively in mock interviews.

I have a lot of experience in tutoring A-Level Economics, and helping students prepare for interview. I have helped students from different backgrounds and achievement levels and have received positive feedback.

I have tutored students in order to prepare them for interviews- mainly for degrees in Economics, or related degrees and have helped students applying to Oxbridge to guide them through the process.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing when tutoring a student is to be patient and kind as no student benefits from an environment in which they are made to feel stupid or slow. In fact, the problem is often the way students are taught and so I try to make lessons as interactive as possible to ensure that the student really understands what I teach them.

I believe that it is important to tailor the Tuition classes to the needs of the individual student, in order to help students realise their full potential. Students learn in different ways and so it is important to recognise that the method that works for one student, might not work for another.

I like to sit-down with students to establish what they are hoping to achieve, and where their strengths and weaknesses lie in the subject. That way I can ensure that the lessons are as helpful as possible for the student as I try to help the student achieve their goals.

For Long-Term students, I have found that it works best to track the lesson plans according to what has been taught in school during the week. This allows me to help students to to ensure that any misunderstandings are dealt with quickly so that they can build on this knowledge in the next week's lessons at school.

For students close to Exams, I focus more on the concepts that are fundamental to the subject to boost the chance of gaining high marks in the exam. I also focus on teaching exam technique.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am Rossella, I am Italian and I moved to London 8 years ago. Italian is my mother-tongue but am perfectly fluent in English. I have a Diploma in languages (Liceo Linguistico, Mantova, Italy) and a degree in Economics and Tourism (University of Bologna, Italy). Now I am a full-time mum of two boys who are growing up speaking both Italian and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor since moving to London, mainly one to one and also small groups (max 3 people).
I have been registered with UKtutors for almost 2 years now. Through UKtutors I have been teaching Italian to adults only, most of them beginners. I am very proud of what my students have achieved and are still achieving. Most of them only knew few words and are now able to hold a proper conversation in Italian.

Tutoring Approach:

Since each student has their individual way of learning, I think it's important to discuss it at the very beginning in order to make sure that the tutoring is efficient and enjoyable. For example, there are some students that learn better by listening and repeating and others that need to write and read to learn the language; therefore each lesson is organised around the student's needs and learning skills. Both grammar and conversation are essential to learn and improve the language.
I also offer lessons purely based on travel, focusing on all aspects that tourists traveling to Italy are interested in, such as booking hotels and restaurants, asking for directions, being able to use public transports.

Personal Description:
I graduated from Worcester College, Oxford, where I got a Double First in Classics, doing a mixture of literature, history and especially focusing on philosophy. I am now studying at City Law School for the Graduate Diploma in Law (Law conversion course) and hope to practise as a barrister when I qualify.

I am enthusiastic and hard-working and I strongly believe in putting all my effort into what I do, so as a tutor I would work hard to try and help bring real improvement.

I was captain of one of my college football teams and also love playing cricket (though perhaps more keen than talented in both of the above!) I was Co-Chair of the Oxford University Labour Club and an elected official at the Student Union, and I also enjoy playing the piano and guitar.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a number of people via UK tutors in several subjects. I have also been a voluntary leader on summer camp, which included organizing detailed discussion sessions, and I tutored my sister for her successful Cambridge Philosophy application.

Tutoring Approach:

I would try and keep things as relaxed and informal as possible so the sessions are good fun and try to listen as well as talk so that we can focus on what needs to be worked on and tailor the sessions to individual needs. I think students often underperform not through lack of intelligence but lack of engagement and I would try and find a way to help them enjoy the classes and boost their self-esteem. I love all the subjects I tutor and I'd hope to inject that into my classes!

Personal Description:
I am 24 year old doctoral student specialising in the influence of Ancient Politics in 18th and 19th century thought at University College London. Previously, I studied at the University of Edinburgh where I completed my Msc in Classics gaining a Merit. Before which I completeda BA in Classics at Exeter University gaining a 2:1.

My motivation for tutoring is to gain relevant experience for a career in lecturing or teaching and also as I am passionate about increasing accessibility to subjects that are not mainstream in many schools as they offer many skills to a student applicable in other areas

Teaching Experience:

I also work as an RYA Dinghy Instructor teaching their Youth Scheme for children aged 8-16 during which has allowed my to develop many skills also applicable to tutoring such as strong communication skills and an approachable attitude. This role also gave the ability to deliver constructive criticism, adapt syllabuses to different learning styles and centre sessions towards different ages and abilities, create a positive relationship with struggling students and to take initiatives to make rote learning entertaining through games and quizes. I have also worked with children with learning diffculties and behavioural needs.

Previously, I have tutored two students for thier Scottish Highers in History. My primary student raised her marks from a C grade to an A grade, the other acheived a good grade in his coursework essay. I am currently tutoring a GCSE Latin candidiate working through the Cambridge Latin Course.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is multifaceted, I will first need to asses the students strengths, weaknesses, learning styles and interests to ascertain the best teaching stragegy. My main focus will be keeping them engaged with the subject by working within their interests and building up their skill sets by working with thier existing strengths.

I will treat every student on an individual basis aiming to engage their interest in the subject in order to help them progress and develop skills that will be of benefit for thier study present and future.

I also offer a discretionary introductory session to see if the tutee and myself are going to work well together and to assess their needs in order to progress.

Personal Description:
I am a 28 year old mum and I have a Master's Degree in English Studies/ English Linguistics, History and Economic Sciences. I graduated in 2010 in Germany. Born in Poland and growing up in Germany I am bilingual in Polish and German and also fluent in English since I have lived in Northern Ireland since 2007. I am very interested in languages and linguistics and would like to use this knowledge to help others, especially children.

Teaching Experience:

I used to give private English lessons to a student aged 11-12 in Germany when I was a student myself. Within weeks his grades started to improve and thus after a few months he did not need any more tutoring.
Apart from this one I do not have any teaching experience, however, I was an assistant manager in a restaurant in my previous job through which I gained a lot of confidence being in a leading/ teaching position.

Tutoring Approach:

Because of my own interest in languages and linguistics I would like to work as a language teacher and fascinate and inspire others to learn different languages or simply help them to improve their language skills. My personal background as well as my degree provide an excellent basis for this.

Personal Description:
I am an A level biology examiner as well as being a fully qualified science teacher with over ten years of experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught science to GCSE level and A level biology for over ten years in secondary schools. Since relocating to Stroud, I have tutored students in A level biology for the past four years. I am also an examiner for OCR A level biology. The experience of marking A level papers has enabled me to help my tutees effectively prepare for exams.

Tutoring Approach:

The style of tutoring needed by individual students will vary. It may start with ensuring understanding of the key concepts in biology at an appropriate level. The jump to A level from GCSE is quite considerable and even the brightest students can struggle initially. Another essential skill needed is the ability to pull together biological content taught in different parts of the syllabus. As exam time approaches, a student has to apply their knowledge and understanding to real exam questions. Practice of exam technique is often a large part of a tutorial session in the run up to A level exams. I am able to give feedback on individual questions which enables a student to improve and hone their answers.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Network Technology. I then began working for an IT company as a computer technician, based within a local university, which gave me exposure to all sorts of IT problems! I then went on to run a chain of computer repair, maintenance and upgrade shops and have been doing this ever since.

I use ALL versions of Microsoft Windows from XP to Windows 8.1 daily, along with Apple Mac's OS X. My customers are approximately between 16 to 80 years of age, and I enjoy passing my knowledge on, no matter how technical / non-technical you are! I just need extra money to pay for my wedding next year, and this is something I know I can do very easily, as it is an extension of my day-to-day job. Please get in touch for a chat with me on how to "Excel" in IT... get it? You will after you've got in touch!

Teaching Experience:

- Teaching new employees on computer repair best-practices and teaching analysts on how to use and configure new software at work.

- Teaching my customers on what went wrong and how to avoid it in the future!

- Providing private tuition on PC / Laptop usage, from basic operation such as web browsing, email and document creation and editing, all the way up to securing a computer from virus's and creating basic websites and setting up domains, and MANY other things in between.

Tutoring Approach:

I love to see a student perform a task after using the knowledge that I've passed in a "follow my lead" based learning. I explain how things work the way they do (if you want to know), and I explain the logic sequence of steps you must take in order to do something such as search for a new recipe or compose an email to a friend. Once the basic knowledge is there, I'll take you through how to use Google to answer 90% of life's questions!

I like to use analogies with my explanations on certain tasks, as people learn differently. However, normally I go through what it is I'm trying to teach at least once before going through it again with my student in a thorough manner.

Personal Description:
Years of providing outdoor education to a variety of age groups has instilled in me a desire to help young people achieve their goals, whatever those may be. It is a joy to see a student's progression in whatever subject area I am teaching. With a master's degree in Geology, I wanted to pass on my scientific and mathematical knowledge in the same way as the outdoor skills I was teaching, so entered into personal tutoring.

I have experience tutoring with every age group from primary to adult and am able to quickly assess your or your child's needs to provide a personalised approach that will produce effective results. Everyone is different and responds to different learning techniques, so I will tailor my tutoring sessions in a way that will encourage maximum understanding of the subject in the minimum of time, as I understand that personal tutoring is expensive. By offering lower than usual rates I aim to make one-to-one tuition more affordable to those who need it most.

I am in my late 20's and newly based in Kendal. Outside of tutoring, I am an active climber, runner and skier and spend the majority of my time outdoors.

Teaching Experience:

I have many years experience teaching a variety of age groups, primarily in outdoor education. I tutor maths and sciences to children, teenagers and adults, including some students with dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to make sessions, particularly for children, varied and engaging. Different learning techniques work well for different people, so I aim to take students away from the methods most commonly used in schools, that are not useful to everyone, and use varying approaches to aid understanding of technical subjects. Often all it takes to go from 'not good at' to A grades is a different take on a subject. I am able to offer this to every student to ensure success.

Personal Description:
I spent the last 5 years in Berlin teaching languages (and also a bit of music), but am now back in Glasgow. I really enjoy teaching and have the experience to with it. I enjoy finding the way a student learns best and seeing them improve. I'm a friendly person and it's important for me to make students feel at ease, as this aids the learning. I have multiple interests outside of teaching including music, literature, film and sport.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching foreign languages and working as a translator for 5 years in Berlin. I was working for various different companies teaching general classes, exam preparation classes and private classes at all levels and for all ages.
I taught for 4 years at the further education school 'BBZ' teaching technical language skills to trainee laboratory assistants.
I taught business English to many companies in Berlin including the BVG (Berlin Public Transport), Airberlin and ZIF (Center for International Peacekeeping Operations) and have given whole day training language workshops for institutions like the Rosa Luxemburg institute in Berlin.
I've also worked as a German to English translator which has included a translation for The Telegraph.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that all students are different and that no one teaching method can be applied to all students. With this in mind, I try to cater to students individually finding the methods that help them learn in the best way.
I think all lessons should be engaging and interesting and, whenever possible, fun. The brain tends to absorb information most readily when it is engaged and relaxed and therefore creating a friendly, relaxed environment in which to learn is as important to me as preparing interesting material.
I have an underlying understanding of teaching methodology, but like to use this creatively and flexibly to aid rather than hinder learning.
