Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified teacher with a solid academic background and sound subject knowledge. I hold an MA in Modern Languages and Linguistics and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Oxford University. I have worked in the education sector since graduating in 2003 and for the last four years I have been self-employed as a private tutor whilst I bring up my young family. I tutor from my home in Tewkesbury, where I provide students with a comfortable learning environment where they are free to study at their own pace in a non-intimidating setting. I am occasionally able to offer sessions at a tutee's house.

I offer one-to-one tuition in a range of subjects (including 11+ Grammar School exams) and also run small classes for 11+ tuition and adult French lessons.

I can provide support in all the required subjects, particularly English, Mathematics, Verbal and Non-Verbal reasoning, French, History, Geography and Religious Studies.

I have also tutored students at GCSE level and have worked with students on a range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, French and Geography.

I also teach foreign languages to adult learners, teaching French in the UK and having taught English as a foreign language when I lived in France. I am happy to help devise a tailor-made course depending on the needs of the individual be it for conversational/tourist language or more advanced or business usage.

I am also able to support sixth formers with university applications and interviews, particularly for arts subjects and Oxbridge.

In my last school teaching post, I was employed as Head of French at a large independent preparatory school in central London. I have five years of full time experience in schools, teaching French, German and English as a Foreign Language.

Teaching Experience:
Since I have been a student all my life so did not get a chance to tutor. However I have experience to work with young people as a "Tutor" in the state run TRIO program in USA. This job has given me a clear understanding and significance of a good education, promoting effective learning, teaching and personal development. This first hand skill of working with children of school age has made me patient, tolerant and has also given me an ability to respond positively to special educational needs. Having this experience would definitely facilitate me to translate my knowledge better to pupils and that surely would aid them to understand the basic concepts.

I have taught the undergrads in Virginia State University, USA under the state run TRIO program

Tutoring Approach:

open to new ideas, initiator, like the tutee to solve the problem himself, but be a good guide,I believe in teaching patiently and with dedication. My approach to teaching is straightforward and begins with generating questions and curiosity within young people's minds so that they can think well.

Personal Description:
A full-time tutor and mentor with a passion for the subject I teach! I also have a keen interest in learning new languages, freestyle slalom skating, World cinema & music, piano playing, crocheting, to name a few.

Teaching Experience:

UK qualified secondary maths teacher with experience of state-school teaching and a decade of mentor/tutoring knowledge. Tutoring is my professional calling and my decision to pursue a teaching career stemmed from my very positive experiences of providing tuition. I provide tuition to state and private (day and Int'l boarder) students in all Key Stages as well as adult learners (i.e. trainee teachers preparing for their QTS skills tests). I am very pleased to note that a majority of my tutees have come to me by referral from other tutees.

Tutoring Approach:

Although we can all not be THE best, we can all be OUR best. My tutoring style achieves best when the short-term objective is based on this acceptance. My goal as a tutor is simple - to enable every of my tutees to become successful INDEPENDENT learners who are not just able to pass the next assessment but every h/w, test etc by themselves. Becoming a permanent fixture in their lives is not the plan because your progress is my success.

I begin every tuition commitment with an introductory/diagnostic lesson; I like to judge for myself the student's current areas of strength and weakness. I always start by checking the foundation; a sure foundation is the only way to guarantee our short-term objectives are successfully met and that we lay a solid foundation for continued academic endeavours.

Each tutee is provided with a folder and a program of study designed to meet our objectives. I plan and bring with me a lesson task and H/w, which is completed and stored in the folder. Lesson delivery is done very much with the learner's individual learning style in mind. I incorporate as many forms of media as possible to teach and keep the interests of my tutee. I also try to show the relevance and application of Maths in everyday life. This folder is available to the parents and tutee at all times and allows everyone involved to understand where we started, where we are presently and how much further we need to go.

11+, 13+ and other entrance exams:
These tuitions are differently structured in that I work through practice papers for English, Maths, Non-Verbal and Verbal reasoning depending on the requirements of the school applied for. I do not teach to the test for I believe it does not lead to lasting understanding of the concept; I address every identified weakness. As the weeks progress, we then begin to focus on completing past papers in the set time and as accurately as possible.

Personal Description:
Hello,

My name is Ina and I teach languages from home in my spare time and mostly on weekends.

Teaching Experience:

During my studies in high school I had the opportunity to gain a considerable work experience in various well known and reputable companies in my country. I worked as a language tutor and interpreter in two language centres, a translation agency and a real estate company. In addition, I had the opportunity to work as an office administrator in an international association, where I was given the responsibility for the organisation of cultural events and campaigns, recruitment and management of Italian tutors, as well as for communication and assistance to clients and members of the organisation. I currently work in the field of HR, but as teaching is an everlasting passion, I like to develop myself and help students in my spare time.

Tutoring Approach:

I am eager to discover the best approach for each individual and task and work accordingly. I have always applied my creativity and my work experience and people skills have helped develop this further.

Personal Description:
As an educator and enthusiastic learner I always aim to engender a love for learning in those that I work with, regardless of level or subject. I have a strong background in education as a participant, lecturer and mentor working primarily with older students although through my experiences as a hockey and swimming coach I have worked with individuals from the age of five upwards. I am a published writer and qualified journalist with excellent language skills which are directly transferable to all elements of education.

As a motivated individual, I aim to get all students to want to achieve and perform academically to the best of their ability.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my Professional Graduate Certificate in Education with the University of Bedfordshire in 2012 whilst working as a full time lecturer in further and higher education where I volunteered for one year and taught for two. During this time I was personal tutor to 60 Level 3 students, and responsible for their welfare and setting their educational goals. I also taught various subjects, including functional skills maths and English, covered lessons with students from different academic levels and provided support lessons to students as they completed coursework. Since then, I have worked in a top state secondary school teaching PE and working with children aged 11-18.

I have also worked with children from the age of three upwards through my experiences as a swimming teacher and coach, and have worked with groups of performance athletes on honing specific skills. The range of children I have worked with through all educational experiences require communication to be adapted and different teaching methods to be used, all of which I am competent at and able to use in all manner of settings.

I have been tutoring since October 2011, working with students of all abilities and from Key Stage 1 through to A Levels. Students I have worked with have gained excellent results in exams, with all A Level students getting into university. Students at primary level have moved up the national curriculum levels faster than their peers and have a lot more confidence in their work and ability after I have worked with them. I also have experience working closely with children who are dyslexic and I have a number of strategies that I employ to help them achieve and gain confidence in their school work.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide an individual approach to learning depending on the learning style and preferences of the individual. I firmly believe that students should be involved in the learning process to improve retention and understanding of information and help them apply everything learnt practically. My aim is not for students to retain information simply for the purpose of passing an exam or completing coursework - it is to help students gain an understanding of a subject so it benefits them through life. Through my experiences as a teacher I have found the words of Confucius to be true of the learning process: "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and enthusiastic student currently studying, BA Modern Languages and European Studies (German and ab initio Russian) in my first year at the University of Bath. I am very passionate, approachable and am dedicated to helping all of my students obtain their goals. As an undergraduate myself, I find empathising with students simple and can as a result help overcome obstacles whilst maintaning a laid back and fun learning environment.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my time of studying in sixth form, I taught English, Maths and French to pupils of various different ages at a local primary school, this enabled me to enhance my own skills of passing on what I know to others. In addition to this I also tutored younger secondary chool students in English and French, which the students found beneficial in preparation for their GCSE exams.

Tutoring Approach:

A relaxed environment is in my opinion, as a student at one of the UKs leading universities, crucial. Students, no matter their age, thrive on having fun whilst learning.

In terms of language learning I do not believe that sifting through long and tedious grammar books is at all fun. Nor can most people learn well by doing this. Therefore I help people to learn languages through other methods, which will provide a practical use of the grammar in context as opposed to learning many endings and verb tables. This has ultimately helped me become multilingual and fluent in many languages.
