| Personal Description: I find teaching enjoyable and challenging. Finding the best approach to motivate each student; as well as the best way to adapt to each individual's learning style, specific needs and mindset to get the best out of them is fascinating. There is a great sense of satisfaction when a student develops their knowledge and understanding of the subject being taught. In terms of my educational background: MSc (1st Class Distinction) in Technology Entrepreneurship from University College London BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Nottingham 11 A*s at GCSE 2 As (Chemistry, French) and 1 B (Physics) at A-Level Part - qualified Auditor and Accountant (ACA) having passed my Audit and Audit and Assurance exams I have worked as an RFP Analyst at Credit Suisse, as an Accountant and Auditor and as a Cost Analyst. |
Teaching Experience: I have been giving private Mathematics lessons in London since September 2007. I have taught students at different levels: Primary school Year 7-9 GCSE A-Level I have also been giving private English Language lessons to students whose first language is not English. Many of these lessons have been online via Skype. Moreover, I have given essay writing lessons and proof-reading services to university students whose first language is not English. |
Tutoring Approach: Since I have studied Mathematics in a number of different contexts - academic: pure, statistics and engineering; and, professional: accounting and finance - I can approach the subject in a number of ways to best adapt to each student's individual needs. I also adapt my teaching style to different age groups and levels and often use innovative ways to help students tackle areas that they find particularly difficult. With regards to teaching English to students whose first language is not English, I not only aim to develop their proficiency in reading & comprehension, writing, listening and speaking but I also try to expand their knowledge of English idioms, culture and history. I always give a FREE 30 minute session before the first lesson to determine each student's level and requirements. |

| Personal Description: I am an 18 year old student at the University of York looking to tutor anyone up to GCSE standard. I feel that I am friendly, calm and can help make problems clear. |
Teaching Experience: I have worked in Alsager Youth Project in Cheshire, which gave me experience working with young people aged 11 and above. I have also worked with the Rainbow Brownies (aged 5-7) and led a few sessions focused on learning basic French and French culture. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to teaching most subjects would be to simply reinforce what was done in class as well as establishing links between subject areas that might not have become apparant (such as how algebra can link into graphs, for example.) For French or English as a foreign language, I would focus on making the language used seem more fluent by teaching idioms and sayings. |

| Personal Description: I am a friendly 25 year-old frenchman, I've been living in Bournemouth since september 2008. I studied Psychology and International relationships at the University of Brittany, France. I am interested in Languages such as English. I am advanced in English. |
Teaching Experience: 2009 (summer) Private English Lessons to teenagers and adults in Brittany, France 2004-2008 Voluntary Tutoring for adults and children with difficulties Brittany, France consisting in helping foreign people in French and children with their homework |
Tutoring Approach: Every time i'm teaching i'm trying to work in a friendly atmosphere, I realised that people need to be listened, and it's very important for them not to be judged on the mistakes they can make, every mistake is a chance to learn that's why it's necessary to understand every weakness and work out on it because when you try to speak another language, weaknesses are often what stop people trying. As a frenchman, I had to learn English then I exactly understand what is to be a foreign student. I've always been trying to explain things to my friends and mumbers of my family when they couldn't understand something, that's why I can say it's natural to me to teach, I feel comfortable when I'm teaching. |

Teaching Experience: Sixth Form Tutor, Framwellgate Sixth Form College, Durham, October 2006 - June 2009 I have tutored Maths (GCSE, A-Level), Chemistry (GCSE, AS-level) and German (GCSE) at Framwellgate Sixth Form College (Durham) for three years. The work was challenging but rewarding, as I have managed to help all of them achieve better than what they were expected to achieve. Through this experience, I have learned to prepare teaching materials, adopt different teaching methods and deal with behavioural issues. This requires patience and persistence, and I am not afraid of making changes if my initial approach does not work. Teaching Assistant, Student Associate Scheme, Middlesbrough, June to July 2008 Co-operated between the Training and Developing Agency and the target schools, I was given the opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers and gain a real insight in classroom teaching. I have also interacted actively with staff from various departments, which aided me understand how the school operates. Marker, Department of Mathematics, Durham University, October 2009 - May 2010 I have been employed to mark second year Maths undergraduate weekly assignments for lecturers. Through this experience, I have learned to work through the arguments and thought processes of others and give constructive feedback. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is simple but effective. The general framework is as follows. At the start of each lesson, I will identify any general problems that the student is facing. Then I will go through the core ideas and concepts with simple examples. After that, I'll test the student's understanding by going through exercises or specific problems. No one can do maths without having done lots of practices. It's an universal fact! I understand that different students require different learning needs. Therefore I will be flexible, and I will do whatever I can in order to meet your needs. |

| Personal Description: Teaching specialism: Drawing and Illustration I graduated from the Falmouth College of Arts, Cornwall, with a degree in Illustration in 2002. I then spent two and a half years working full- time for a greeting card company as an in-house Illustrator, as well as working on two children's picture books for Meadowside (part of the DC Thomson group) . In 2005 I went on to gain a Masters degree in Children's Book Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art and have illustrated several books for children including the classic title 'The Prince and the Pauper' for Usborne Publishing. I am currently working on 'The Owl and the Grandfather Clock' which is my first book as Author and is due to be published by Boxer Books (London) next year. The story was inspired by my strong interest in wildlife and conservation. I live and work in Kincraig with my cat Melu and Labrador Lucy. |
Teaching Experience: Lecturer; Sept 2008- present (Further Education, Highland region). Community learning and development, Highland Council. Arts residencies at various primary schools; Jan 2009- present. (Highland region) |
Tutoring Approach: Drawing is the essential foundation of the Illustrator and therefore I would initially take the student through a series of exercises that will help them to really look and learn to see differently. This direct observation and first-hand recording will enable each student to naturally develop a way of working that is totally personal to them and could ultimately lead to imaginative and inspired drawing and Illustration. We are surrounded by such a unique environment; from the breathtaking, ever changing landscape to the wealth of wildlife- what riches right on our doorstep from which to draw inspiration! |
