Personal Description:
I have always been aware of the importance of cultivating languages and thanks to my Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpreting and my subsequent work,I have excellent skills all round in Spanish, my mother tongue. Furthermore, I have gained a broad experience of making use of my linguistic skills in French.

Teaching Experience:

My stays abroad include The University of Sheffield as a Spanish Assistant, which I feel has contributed to the development of my educational abilities. I particularly worked in Spanish language classes, solving grammatical, phonetic or syntactic problems for final year students in the School of Modern Languages and Linguistics. Furthermore, my Spanish teaching qualification (CAP for Secondary Education) equips me with pedagogical and didactic skills, which I feel are transferable to the English educational context.
This summer I have successfully completed a 12 week intensive course 6 unit French Subject Knowledge Enhancement Course and I have achieved Europena Lavel B1.3, which is A Level Standard I taught French at University Level.

Personal Description:
I have retired to this area where I enjoy living near the sea, and walking. I volunteer at our local theatre/cinema and sing in the choir at our Church in Southbourne. I have three grandchildren, two in London and one in USA and spend what time I can with them, using skype to talk to my family in USA. My husband and I both enjoy gardening.

Teaching Experience:

I am an Oxford graduate with more than 20 years of teaching experience in schools including A level maths and further maths (pure, statistics, and with a particular interest in mechanics). I have also given private tutoring to a large number of pupils from SATs to A levels. Many of those I have taught have returned for help with further exams, or have sent their friends to me, so most of my pupils have come through personal recommendation.

Tutoring Approach:

It gives me great pleasure to help those who struggle with maths to gain confidence and even come to enjoy the subject as well as helping the high fliers get their A grades. I expect pupils to work hard, but think it important to give work that is within their capability so the pupil can feel the achievement of getting things right.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

Nicolas is an excellent tutor. He helped my son with preparation to the Westminster challenge exam for 5 months. My son really enjoyed the lessons. Nicolas is a very responsible tutor who does his best to organize interesting lessons. My son got A at Westminster challenge exam.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

Nicolas has been our son's French tutor for the last 9 months. We were looking for a tutor who could focus on Common Entrance 13+ exam preparation, working on speaking, grammar and writing .
I strongly recommend him as a teacher.
He prepares his lessons, and teaches with great enthusiam.
My son, who attended Wetherby School in London, did not like and was not good at French at school and from the moment Nicolas started to teach him his view and understanding of French changed.
He is now on top of his class and loves french and this is all thanks to Nicolas.

Regards

To Whom It May Concern:

I have been fortunate enough to have Nicolas as my French tutor. Having only 2 months to learn French before moving to Paris, Nicolas planned the course really well and I came out of it feeling ready to face the real French people. Nicolas is organized and very pleasant to be around. He is so helpful even if it is something, which is not related to the lesson. Nicolas adapted the lesson to my needs and plans the lessons every time beforehand. The material he uses to teach is quality and his approach in teaching is very easy to understand. I would highly recommend Nicolas to tutor French at any level.

Kind regards,

Thom , University student, London Gloucester Road

...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I would like to recommend Nicolas as a French tutor for your organisation or family.
Nicolas worked with us in London three days per week, as a French tutor. (We moved to the U.S. when the employment ended.) Nicolas took full responsibility for our two boys for three days per week.
His main focus was on tutoring and educating the boys in French. He spoke only French to them, allowing the boys to be fully immersed in the language. The activities allowed them to develop their French (both boys fully comprehend French conversation now and can speak), . Nicolas's energizing and interactive techniques were fun for the boys, and they engaged in the language quickly.
The boys loved their time with Nicolas . His tutoring techniques are excellent for young children..
Nicolas is dependable, caring, and trustworthy. I would fully recommend him as a French tutor for your children.

Personal Description:
I am a student at the University of Oxford reading German. For my A Levels I studied German, English Literature and History and received A*, A* and an A. For AS I also did Mathematics and for my GCSE's I studied: Maths, Dual Science, English Literature, English Language, German, French, History, Art and Drama.

Teaching Experience:

I worked in a primary school for 6 months in my gap year, primarily teaching reading, writing and mathematics to the younger years as well as art, sport and IT skills. Previous to this job, I taught a German club at a local primary school and have worked on a charity literacy scheme, where I tutored reading and writing one on one to a child who was underachieving for his age group. I have also done other volunteer tutoring at a primary school, reading one on one with the children and improving their literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it is best to discuss together what you feel you need help with or needs to be worked on and from there we can assess how best to proceed. I prefer you to bring your own material to me as from this I can see what it is you are struggling with, how advanced your school work is and the level you are aiming for.

A final year MEng Automotive Engineering student at the University of Bath. Friendly and relaxed, looking forward to helping others learn and achieve their goals!

Teaching Experience:

I have no teaching experience yet but have three younger siblings and so have been called upon to help with informal tutoring in the past.

Tutoring Approach:

I will start by asking the student (or parents) to identify the areas in which help is required to make sure your requirements and my abilities match. I will then help the student to complete exercises by his or herself and be available if conceptual help is required. In this way, the student will have the necessary support to be able to work his or her way through a subject and build a good understanding of it.

Personal Description:
Annie has enjoyed teaching Functional English (equivalent to GCSE English) for the past two years. As a published writer/novelist, her passion for writing is apparent in every lesson - whether for children or for adults.

Her degree in Theology and her position as Assistant Examiner for OCR, marking GCSE Religious Studies exam papers every summer, gives her a unique insight into the examination requirements. She has had educational resources published, relating also to GCSE Religious Studies. This all means she can teach 'to spec' every step of the way, in a lively, thorough and often humorous manner.

She is also enthusiastic about preparing KS2 children for their English SATs, and assisting AS/A2 Philosophy students with their course.

Finally, she is fully qualified to teach EFL/ESOL (English to speakers of other languages) and would welcome the opportunity to take on more students in this area.

Teaching Experience:

Two years teaching Functional English (adults).
Twelve years teaching assistant for KS2 (lots of SATS work).
Some A Level Philosophy teaching.
Some lecturing for degree course (Bristol Baptist College, Theology/ethics).
Assistant Examiner for OCR, marking GCSE Religious Studies exams.
Author of educational resources (GCSE Religious Studies) for Zig-Zag publishers.
Author of two novels (published).
18 years of voluntary youthwork (church), mainly teenagers.
Parent of two lively teenagers - supporting them through their GCSE homework and revision!

Lively, thorough, humorous and enthusiastic...!

Personal Description:
As a recent university graduate, I offer a closer bond with students than most tutors due to the lesser age gap. Many exams that students struggle with are ones that I myself have taken, so I can empathise and relate to issues students face on a better level than older tutors. I graduated in English Literature from UEA with a 2:1, achieved A*AA at A Level in English, Philosophy and History, and obtained 10 GCSEs at A* to A and 2 more at B. I was educated at Wilson's School in Surrey which during my time there was consistently ranked as one of the best boys' state schools in the country, and indeed was at number 1 in the rankings for a few years while I was there.

I am currently working towards an MA qualification with a view to going on to a PhD to pursue a career in academic lecturing and tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

Most of my experience comes from being on the receiving end of teachers and tutors from entrance exam up until university, and understanding their shortcomings and failings and what could have been done better. Crucially, I understand student mentalities and what students want and need at all levels. I have tutored Year 5-6s in Maths and Year 10-11s in English so far. Since joining UK Tutors I have taught a 9 year old in writing skills and a 15 year old in GCSE English.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a fun and friendly way of helping the student to realise their full potential through going over schoolwork, practice papers and other forms of assessment - but critically, I focus on talking with and building a relationship with the student. I don't want them to see tutoring as just another school classroom with another teacher - it should be a fun and intellectually stimulating environment that they enjoy participating in. My experience has shown that if the student is enjoying themselves, they will perform to a far better standard.

I can offer high level teaching in English and History, as well as Philosophy, Critical Thinking and German to an A Level standard, Maths and Sciences up to GCSE standard, other subjects can be discussed.

Crucially, I was a master at dealing with exam pressure and good coursework - I will provide expert tutoring for students suffering from exam stress and help them to format and write essays for coursework. As I did much of the same things just a few years ago, I understand better than anyone what it feels like!

Teaching Experience:

Over the years I have helped my classmates in my own spare time with hard to understand scientific and linguistic concepts and aspire to pass this on to even more students. I have also helped to teach younger students to read and explain concepts to them.

I have achieved 9 A*/A grades at GCSE and A*AA at A level in Chemistry, Biology and Spanish retrospectively. I achieved these grades through sheer hard work and being motivated by my teachers.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe a positive learning environment is so important in order to be able to achieve a student's full potential. I have loads of resources which were so useful for me throughout my academic years and would love to share these with tutees to help them achieve their full potential.
