Tutoring Approach:

Key Responsibilities: I tutored children with special needs most of which had Down's Syndrome and others, who were on the autistic spectrum, had cerebral palsy or other developmental and physical delays. I visited the children in their homes and gave weekly hour and a half sessions to empower parents take an active interest in their child's learning and help their children develop cognitive, fine and gross motor, self help, social and emotional skills. I am a graduate of maths and computing with several years of working as a Statistician for a retailing company & over 25 years of teaching in Further education & sixth form colleges. Tutoring Approach:
I normally contact the pupil/pupil's parents to introduce myself and the agency, If they agree with tuition my agreement is to give 1 lesson during which I test the pupil's knowledge on a range of SIMPLE & BASIC maths concepts and give feedback to the parents. This method has worked very well either way. As part of tuition I make sure my pupils gain confidence & knowledge gently but surely. Generally after some lessons pupils show visible confidence & knowledge that are very satisfying for everyone concerned.
Homework is a MUST no matter sometimes, due to school work, is just a few exercises.
Also every so often pupils have tests on selected topics.
