About Mury:
At the present I work as a Researcher at the University of Birmingham. I am keen to travel to student's house or the student can also come to my house.

Teaching Experience:

In the early time of my teaching career, I gave tuition to junior and senior high school students (12-18 years old) and I did this for about 7 years. I have also been teaching undergraduate and master students both abroad and in the UK for 3 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Having gained substantial teaching experience, I believe it is essential that a tutor must put himself in student's shoes in order to understand student's difficulties in studying a new study material. Feedback is critically important as a measure of how well the student can follow the tutor. Normally I get feedback from student by asking questions from the simple one to the difficult one. If the student cannot answer a simple question correctly, it means that I have to repeat it again from the beginning. I do not want to come across that having taught the student for 1-2 hours but they do not learn anything.

Observing facial expression of a student does sometimes help me know whether the student understands the material that the tutor teaches. This is particularly useful when teaching passive students as they do not usually interrupt the tutor even though they can not follow them. Empty eyes and blank facial expression of a student requires a tutor not to continue the teaching to a more advanced material as it will be more confusing for the students if he does. If experiencing this, the tutor must stop, and double check how far the student has grabbed the study material and find out which particular subject that the student still cannot understand.

Regarding Maths, there are many formulas in the school's text book that the student has to learn them by heart thus make it quite tough for some students. I usually ask the student to memorize just the fundamental/basic formula and teach them how to derive other formulas. So in case they forget the derivative formulas, they can derive them from the basic formula anytime.

Ive come across many people who HATE Maths lol or just struggle in the subject- but it's not that bad..TRUST me! Its all about the way its taught.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my teaching course I have had experiance on being a Maths teacher at two local secondary schools.

I have learnt from early on how to deal with kids of all abilities and I've found this to be an amazing experience!!

What more can I ask 4??? A subject that I love and helping others to enjoy it by making it fun and interesting - - It gives me a great Buzz!

Believe it or not..but i used to HATE maths with a passion at school..but after being taught by a great teacher--everything felt so easy!! (not getting a big head of course lol) - I then went on to gain a Bsc in Mathematics with Management Studies.

I hope that I will go on to become a great teacher -- I have already a proven track record of maximising students' potential. I have helped numerous students hit level 8 in their SATs with my services.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm offering tuition to KS3 and GCSE Maths students. Primary school students are also welcome. I take great care in making sure you know and are comfortable with what I'm teaching you. About Tahmeena:
I'm a 19 year old currently studying Engineering at the University of Cambridge. I am a fun, lively and mature person who, prior to moving into engineering, considered a career in teaching. I love to paint, draw, play guitar and row. I am very able in Mathematics and would consider tutoring on a multiple number of subjects on request. I, along with 2 brothers and sisters, have all passed the 11+ so would be willing to advise on that. My prices are negotiable as I didn't really have a figure in mind. If your child is inquistive and wants to learn... I don't mind if the fee is reduced!

Teaching Experience:

- 2 weeks work experience at a Primary school
- Tutoring a fellow student in GCSE maths whilst at college
- Working at a summer playscheme for children

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is a relaxed one, that I feel gets results. Children can have fun with me, but I make sure that they know that I expect results. My plan has always get people to practice and practice... particularily with Maths, to pass an exam, familiarity with the questions to be asked is the key thing.

About Caezar:
Hi!

I'm a hard working Phd Student and have always worked hard during my life. I am currently working on a Phd at Birmingham university specialising in Structural Biology.
I have a Bsc in Pharmacology from Cardiff university and have 2A's (Chemistry and Psychology) and a B (Biology) at A-level with a B (Physics) at AS level. I have 1A* (Chemistry) 8A's (Maths, Physics, Biology, English Language, Geography, History, Business Studies, German) and 1 B (English Literature) at GCSE.

As well as studying Pharmacology at University, I have worked part time during term time and full time during the summer, for three years, at Phones 4 U. This gave me a great understanding in how to interact with people (especially teenagers) so that we could clearly understand each other.

I have a fun loving towards life with a never give up attitude!

Teaching Experience:

During my 6th form years I was head of my school house which meant organising with the younger years their inter-house sporting events as well as encourage them on the field. It taught me to really understand their viewpoints so you could ultimately help them achieve their goals.

While I was undertaking my Bsc at Cardiff university I mentored younger years with their essays in their style and approach and was always happy to help via emails.

Now undertaking my Phd at Birmingham University, I am often asked to demonstrate and help answer questions during Lab time with BSc Biochemistry students.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin with understanding where the pupil is having his/her basic problem i.e. is it a matter of confidence in the topic or difficulty in understanding the overall understanding of the topic. Once these are gauged I like to start off gently as I found myself to learn much more easily when things are broken down into their very basic concepts.

As the sessions progress I am very happy to give homework (with the amount initially discussed between the parents, pupil and I so that not to interfere with school work) so that the progress of the pupil is monitored.

Overall I like to think I am very approachable and want the pupil to ask as many questions as possible as I believe that a pupil that asks questions will be the ones that will get their desired results.

***Free first tuition*** (with the purchase of an additional 5 Bulk teaching sessions)
***Discounts available upon bulk requests***

I have also tutored several members of my family and friends, who have gone onto Grammar Schools, University and are successful in their current careers.

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy is that "wisdom grows from study". Children posses the greatest and most intelligent minds. As a tutor, my job is to nurture and bring out the best in a child. Encouragement and enthusiasm is what drives children and makes them want to learn more and strive to succeed.
I believe in repeating and practising subject areas which are difficult. Setting attainable targets and helping a child achieve such targets is a pleasure. Every child is intelligent and has an abundance of potential and energy. I hone in on that energy, and encourage them to have self belief to reach their full potential. All it takes is a little patience and perseverance.
Through study, every child will learn to be focused, disciplined, mature, wise and self confident.
That is what I aim to teach.
My subject knowledge, is superb, in all the areas that I teach.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my experience in teaching I have enhanced my communication skills, planning and organisational skills. I am able to produce lesson plans that are both stimulating and creative, allowing the lessons to be enjoyable, work-orientated and successfully managed. I enjoy delivering lessons that are based on active leaning and group work, as I believe that many students learn best through 'doing', rather than just seeing and listening and also through collaborative work alongside their own peers. Educating individual pupils requires understanding and in turn planning for their personal development socially, morally, spiritually and culturally. I believe in order to achieve this successfully, requires respect and understanding of a pupil's background and integrating this with their experiences within the classroom. Having a class with a diverse ethnic mix provides a rich source of learning opportunities for the group as a whole. I thrive on the opportunities of working with a wide range of cultures, ethnicities and abilities.

About Pushkar:
I have completed my PhD in 'Smart' sensor system from the University of Sheffield in June 2006. I have a very good academic track record and have achieved excellent grades during my education. As a result I have completed all my education on various scholarships. I am a friendly person and get along well with people of all ages. I have a passion for teaching, guiding and in sharing what I know.

Teaching Experience:

I have more than 4 years of teaching experience and have been teaching from primary through secondary (including Key Stages and SATS) to GCSE, Scottish Standard Grade, AS-A-levels, Higher, College levels, HNC, HND, TEC, Degree, Professional Exams etc. I have been working with different tuitions agencies and also have taught undergraduates while in Sheffield Univ. Other than the subjects listed I also teach following subjects:

Computer Studies / Information Technology
Basic Skills (i.e. elementary Maths, English and Reading)
General Science / Combined Science
Engineering: Electronics, Control systems, Programming (C, C++, VB.6 etc).

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is simple and straight forward. I identify the level of knowledge of the student during our first meet and also clearly understand what the student's requirements are and how much time we have. Based on the above facts, I sketch out a lesson plan with the student and upon both of us agreeing, I go ahead as per the plan. Moreover, I believe in interactive sessions and teach with them with as many practical examples possible. Because, I think relating problems with real life examples helps students to understand it better and makes the topic more interesting.

I'm extremely patient and can quickly change my ways to suit the student's skill and learning ability.

About Chris:
I am 23 years old and have spent the summer as an exam invigilator at Queen's Park High School Chester. I am looking at going into teching next year and I feel that one-on-one tuition will give me a valuable insight and help to prepare me well for the world of teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have three younger brothers and have helped (and still do) them to achieve their full potential in examinations. I have helped them to pass the 11-plus exam and achieve entry to Wirral Grammar School for Boys. I have also helped two of them with their G.C.S.E's and am currently helping Mark in preparing his final year dissertation.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to create a blanace between a relaxed working environment and a studious approach. I believe that is vital to help the student understand the concepts and methods of how to prepare and sit examinations rather than simply presenting them with fact and figures. My aim is not just to provide students with the specific information needed for an exam but to provide them with the skills needed for sitting any academic exams.

About Catherine:
Hi!
My name is Catherine and I have come over to Bristol from Canada to finish my degree in International Business. I am 23, reliable, fun, and very enthusiastic! Though I am not seeking a career in teaching, I very much enjoy working with children and young adults to perfect their academic and other various skills. Growing up, I often helped my mother in her classes as she taught English, French, and fitness and always loved seeing the looks on kids' faces when they finally "got it". : )

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored privately on and off for the last 5 years, mostly to elementary school-aged children. Though less related, I have also been a swim instructor for 6 years and as such understand anxiety and fear that students are often faced with when learning. But eventually, it just becomes second nature!

Tutoring Approach:

In working with children and young adults, I do my best to gain an understanding as to the type of approach that will best suit the individual. Everyone learns differently, at different speeds, and is motivated by different goals. The key is to identify those elements and utilize them as efficiently as possible. Whether a student needs help preparing for a test and feels anxious, or can't seem to fully grasp a topic without spending a bit more time at home working through it, there are always methods through the madness. I am patient and understand the learning process, and am willing to put forth a great deal of effort to make the student comfortable and relaxed (and smiling!) as this is the only way to improve!

About David:
I am a student studying a Masters of Chemical Engineering at strathclye.
I am extremely compotent.
I come from 3 generations of teachers and work to a high standard.
I believe in results!!!!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught people even while at high school and i believe i have accounted for improved grades. It is only recently that i have decided to take it into part time employment as it provides money for university.

Tutoring Approach:

Communication is the key to teaching as every teacher knows.
The fact that I am younger than most tutors is beneficial, as children feel more comfortable talking to me and so feeling relaxed in teaching is extremely important to the child learning.

There is many independent research papers which i have links to on my website
Which proves the benefits.

Example:
You may, through your own personal experience, have found in your own education that you learned better from a younger teacher who was more in touch with your generation.
