Throughout my studies (GCSEs and A-Levels) I have been a straight As student. I have a BSc. Hons. degree in Biomedical Science from Durham University at 2.1 level. This was essentially a combination of Biology and Chemistry, which provides detailed information behind human biology/medicine.

From 2007-2008, I worked in probation, teaching ex-offenders Maths and English up to Level 2 (GCSE level).

This year, I have been working in a College in London teaching a variety of different subjects. I have been teaching Maths and English up to Level 2. I have also taught IT up to A-Level, including some basic adult evening classes and have experience in Microsoft Office applications. The majority of my classes were GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry classes. As students found my lessons useful, I also provided GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry revision classes during the holidays.

I believe that all students have potential, but it is up to their tutor to help them reach that potential. I prepare before every class to ensure I have the best resources to aid my students in their learning. My children call me a space freak because of the endless hours spent surfing the web on 'space sites' looking up the recent cassini mission to saturn and the latest rendezvous of the various space probes with a number of asteroids such as the joint European e.g 'esa' and NASA missions. I've been further intrigued by the Japanese space probe mission to a near earth asteroid which not only safely touched down on the asteroid but was able to collect some dust from its cratered surface and safely head back to earth. Its incredible the feats and strides scientists have taken in the last 50 years and to know that I will be educating some of the scientists of tomorrow and who knows maybe an astronaut who'll look back one day at his lessons and say that's where it first started for me.

Teaching Experience:
I have some 7 yrs private/school teaching experience which I've found particularly enjoyable and rewarding. I have taught privately in my own home as well as in the clients setting. I have experience of teaching predominantly science subjects between KS2 to A2 levels. I enjoy teaching science on a one to one level and to groups of two or three. I believe tutoring on a personal level is not only enjoyable but motivates me to educate the tutee to a standard which reflects his/her interests. I have been teaching private classes for more than five years. Since my career is electronic and electrical engineering I have mainly focused my classes on science topics. Tutoring Approach:
I ike to know everything about my student in my first meeting and afterwards design a working plan in order to reinforce the weakest points of my tutee. During my gap year, after graduation, I tutored students one-to-one in 'A' Level Physics and Chemistry. Both my students received 'A' grades. More recently, I tutored a student AS Chemistry for her recent exams.

Tutoring Approach:
I firstly ensure my students understand the basics, and wherever possible try to develop their interest in the subject by taking them beyond the syllabus. I believe it is important to understand how concepts tie in with each other, and to see the 'bigger picture', which is invaluable for students taking their subjects onto a higher level. At the same time, it is of course important to understand the importance of achieving high marks in the final exams. So, to this end, I focus heavily on past papers of the relevant exam board, and scrutinise sample mark schemes with the students, so that they can see how the examiners will award them marks.

2. After having analysed where the weak points are, to establish with the tutee what they want to achieve and in what timescale.
3. Then a timetable will be drawn up with what areas are to be covered, establishing aims and goals that can be achieved.
4. Ongoing assessment, again typically past exam papers/questions, are performed to allow the tutee to realise where they have improved and what areas may require additional attention.

I am great at talking to children and teenagers and try to make lessons fun and involving! I was part of a homework club, a community liaison between a Dublin community and my university (Trinity College) in 1997, helping an individual student (aged 12) with their homework. I was a supply teacher for a number of schools in Ireland from Sep 2002 to June 2003, teaching biology, chemistry and maths. In addition, I provided grinds for a Leaving Certificate student (approx A-Level standard), in biology, chemistry and maths.

Tutoring Approach:
I like to talk through the areas with which the student is having difficulties, and to see the standard at which they are at. Then, dependent upon their standard, I either go back through the basics with them or concentrate on specific areas of study. I consider each student as an individual.
