| About Chris: I am a 24 year old Doctor from Exeter looking to tutor 4 or 5 students a week through GCSE Science, GCSE Maths, A-Level Biology/Human Biology or Medical School entrance exams such as UK CAT or GAMSAT. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored people through GCSE Maths and A-Level Human Biology. I have a great deal of material from my A-Levels and GCSE's which I have re-written to be used for tutoring. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is to tutor students to pass exams rather than focusing on understanding the underlying principles. I have a relaxed manor and allow tutees to learn what they need to learn to pass their exams, rather than what I think they should learn. I teach using real questions from exams and genuine examples of past questions. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Sharik: Throughout my studies (GCSEs and A-Levels) I have been a straight As student. I have a BSc. Hons. degree in Biomedical Science from Durham University at 2.1 level. This was essentially a combination of Biology and Chemistry, which provides detailed information behind human biology/medicine. |
Teaching Experience: From 2007-2008, I worked in probation, teaching ex-offenders Maths and English up to Level 2 (GCSE level). This year, I have been working in a College in London teaching a variety of different subjects. I have been teaching Maths and English up to Level 2. I have also taught IT up to A-Level, including some basic adult evening classes and have experience in Microsoft Office applications. The majority of my classes were GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry classes. As students found my lessons useful, I also provided GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry revision classes during the holidays. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that all students have potential, but it is up to their tutor to help them reach that potential. I prepare before every class to ensure I have the best resources to aid my students in their learning. It is essential to go into a class with a flexible attitude, as sometimes it is essential to find an alternative way of explaining a concept. Finding different ways of remembering information is useful, as everyone has a different learning style. I can also provide helpful hints and tips, especially as I remember my own experience of studies as well as my background in education. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Parvaze: I am a science graduate of the University of Salford. I have worked professionally as an Environmental Health Officer for some 12 yrs plus. I enjoy reading and researching articles on science fiction. My children call me a space freak because of the endless hours spent surfing the web on 'space sites' looking up the recent cassini mission to saturn and the latest rendezvous of the various space probes with a number of asteroids such as the joint European e.g 'esa' and NASA missions. I've been further intrigued by the Japanese space probe mission to a near earth asteroid which not only safely touched down on the asteroid but was able to collect some dust from its cratered surface and safely head back to earth. Its incredible the feats and strides scientists have taken in the last 50 years and to know that I will be educating some of the scientists of tomorrow and who knows maybe an astronaut who'll look back one day at his lessons and say that's where it first started for me. |
Teaching Experience: I have some 7 yrs private/school teaching experience which I've found particularly enjoyable and rewarding. I have taught privately in my own home as well as in the clients setting. I have experience of teaching predominantly science subjects between KS2 to A2 levels. I enjoy teaching science on a one to one level and to groups of two or three. I believe tutoring on a personal level is not only enjoyable but motivates me to educate the tutee to a standard which reflects his/her interests. I find tutoring children on a personal level enables them to take in far more information which is retained by them for a much longer time span. |
Tutoring Approach: With every new student, I try to identify from the onset, their strengths and weaknesses. By focusing on their weaknesses, I try to build on them, regularly giving them tests on topics covered and giving the pupils my ideas on exam preparation and technique has proven to be an excellent way of attaining high marks in their final exams. I am aware of the parental pressures put on students to perform and do well, and I am fully capable of bringing out the best of the individuals abilities. I am a caring, friendly and sensitive tutor with a great passion for sciences particularly chemistry and physics. I am enthusiastic about teaching science and have a workable exam preparation and technique built into lessons which works exceptionally well. I also ensure any handouts given out along with course notes and test papers are properly filed in a folder. I recommend the use of flash cards as an aide me moire of the topics covered again filed in the folder along with all other notes. I recommend to those students who have access to a PC and the Internet to contact me via e-mail at no extra cost with any questions on any of the topics covered in previous lessons. I will endeavour to drop them a line with a worked example whether online or offline. I've found by doing this, that it further strengthens the bond between my students. From past testimonials I've received, its evident most of my tutees enjoy my caring and reflective style and the results speak for themselves.. |

However, other subjects such as English, Social Science, History have come across during my experience as a tutor. Satisfaction among my former students is total. |
Tutoring Approach: I ike to know everything about my student in my first meeting and afterwards design a working plan in order to reinforce the weakest points of my tutee. This plan usually includes student homework, further study in the darkest points covered in his/her daily classes and further materials exercises. A relaxed environment combined with an efficient use of the time are my basic principles while teaching. |

| About Zena: I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences in 2005 (2.1). I have completed the Graduate Diploma in Law (2007) and the Legal Practice Course (2008) from the College of Law, both with Distinction. |
Teaching Experience: During my gap year, after graduation, I tutored students one-to-one in 'A' Level Physics and Chemistry. Both my students received 'A' grades. More recently, I tutored a student AS Chemistry for her recent exams. |
Tutoring Approach: I firstly ensure my students understand the basics, and wherever possible try to develop their interest in the subject by taking them beyond the syllabus. I believe it is important to understand how concepts tie in with each other, and to see the 'bigger picture', which is invaluable for students taking their subjects onto a higher level. At the same time, it is of course important to understand the importance of achieving high marks in the final exams. So, to this end, I focus heavily on past papers of the relevant exam board, and scrutinise sample mark schemes with the students, so that they can see how the examiners will award them marks. |

| About David: I am 23 years old I have a had lots of experience with people from all backgrounds and walks of life through the course of my employment and education. I am Freindly, Patient and have excellent communication skills. |
Teaching Experience: In the past I have tutored my sister to pass her GCSE Biology Exams and coursework. I also tutored a couple of A-Level Students in my 1st and second years at university. In addition, at university it was a requirement for final year students to assist 1st and 2nd Year students in their coursework. |
Tutoring Approach: My general approach to tutoring is as follows: 1. Firstly assess the weak points any particular tutee may have usually by ways of a practice exam. 2. After having analysed where the weak points are, to establish with the tutee what they want to achieve and in what timescale. 3. Then a timetable will be drawn up with what areas are to be covered, establishing aims and goals that can be achieved. 4. Ongoing assessment, again typically past exam papers/questions, are performed to allow the tutee to realise where they have improved and what areas may require additional attention. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Nick: I am a fourth year student at Imperial College London university studying medicine. I enjoy playing sports to compliment my academic life and helping others in all activities that I am involved in. |
Teaching Experience: Have informally taught Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics to fellow students to A-Level standard throughout my academic career. Am also part of a scheme in the university to help the younger medics learn and cope with the immense workload that a medical degree involves! Being a student myself, it was not very long ago I was doing GCSE's and A-Levels and so totally understand how to go about tackling a subject and making sure one is as confident as one can be walking into an exam. Have been tutoring for 1 year now and boosted several student's GCSE and A-Level grades earlier this year. |
Tutoring Approach: Before we begin working together, I firstly get an idea of the particular areas the tutee feels they need to work on and is worried about. I believe it's important to understand key concepts when tackling a subject and so will get an idea of where the tutee is having problems and get them on the right track to improving and getting a top grade. I am great at talking to children and teenagers and try to make lessons fun and involving! Closer to exam time, I make sure to go through the marking scheme and ensure the tutee has an extensive yet realistic revision plan. |

| About Maeve: I am a 28 year old Irish girl, who has been living in London since 2003. I am currently on formal sabbatical from work as a senior environmental consultant, which I have been for the last 4 years, as I am reseraching other careers. I am enthusiastic, patient, kind and understanding. I have been through the Irish school system, but am familiar with the GCSE and A-Level systems and curriculums. |
Teaching Experience: I was part of a homework club, a community liaison between a Dublin community and my university (Trinity College) in 1997, helping an individual student (aged 12) with their homework. I was a supply teacher for a number of schools in Ireland from Sep 2002 to June 2003, teaching biology, chemistry and maths. In addition, I provided grinds for a Leaving Certificate student (approx A-Level standard), in biology, chemistry and maths. |
Tutoring Approach: I like to talk through the areas with which the student is having difficulties, and to see the standard at which they are at. Then, dependent upon their standard, I either go back through the basics with them or concentrate on specific areas of study. I consider each student as an individual. |
