| About Gordon: I have many years experience as an industrial chemist and laboratory manager. I finally decided to follow my dream of teaching about 5 years ago and haven't looked back since. I am fully qualified and registered teacher with the GTCW and have a current CRB check. |
Teaching Experience: One day a week I teach A level chemistry in evening classes in a college in Cardiff. During the week I teach GCSE science and chemistry A level in a Cardiff school. I am also the KS3 Science co-ordinator in the school, responsible for the progression of pupils throughout KS3. I have worked in many schools through out South Wales teaching KS3 & KS4 Science and AS/A2 Chemistry. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe in a relaxed style to teaching/tutoring where the pace of the lesson is determined by you. I allow as much time as necessary on a topic until you have a complete understanding. Where possible I use demonstrations to relate the work to real life situations and use a laptop to provide an alternative way to learning. I have access to past paper questions that are relevant to the course that you are studying and use examiners mark scheme's to show you what the examiners are looking for when marking exam papers. |

| About Freya: I am nineteen years old, and this means I have great familiarity with the current syllabuses for economics and sociology, having recently completed my A-levels. I also have a fresh knowledge of exam techniques and revision tactics. I am currently studying Philosophy and Politics at the University of York. I was home-schooled for a number of years, and therefore appreciate the difference between a good and a bad tutor, and have investigated different methods of learning. I have some limited experience with physical and mental disabilities through Riding for the Disabled (RDA). |
Teaching Experience: I have taught various subjects at primary level in Kenya to a range of age groups. I have completed a course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). |
Tutoring Approach: I know that information will not be absorbed unless it is interesting and relevant. I therefore follow a very individual approach, as everybody has different styles of learning. I believe that information should be presented in such a way that it is easily absorbed, through making learning engaging and memorable. I deal with problem areas, making information accessible and, dare I say, interesting! |

| About Simone: I am reliable, sociable, hard working, enterprising, creative and full of enthusiasm. I have had a wide range of work experiences which has given me many useful transferable skills. My strengths lie in mathematics, statistics, quantitative analytics and computing. I am very organised in my approach to work, and focus well on priority tasks. I also try to be as innovative as possible in order to find the best and most efficient ways to meet targets. As a result of this approach I work well under pressure. In my instructor roles, I have also realised the importance of team work in achieving goals and of patience, support and communication in managing and building working relationships. I am passionate about sport and dance, and have been participating in sports since the age of 6. During this time I have been a semi-professional footballer in Italy. I completed a bachelor's degree in Naval Engineering in 2005 from the University of Trieste, and have completed a Masters in Naval Architecture at the same University in June 2008. |

Tutoring Approach: From my experience as a Italian tutor, when somebody learn a new language is like a child, the easy way is the best. Examples with practical lessons are very important for vocabulary skills, interesting subjects for reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, while for the grammar a lot of exercises. From my experience as a Maths tutor I have learnt to stimolate students and help them to belive in theirself. Many of them needed just this. I tried to understand what is important and enjoyable for the student and I made some examples in comparison with the focus of the lesson. Everybody think different so is very important to understand quickly who is the person. I always tried to be funny because Maths usually is boring. | About Sharik: Throughout my studies (GCSEs and A-Levels) I have been a straight As student. I have a BSc. Hons. degree in Biomedical Science from Durham University at 2.1 level. This was essentially a combination of Biology and Chemistry, which provides detailed information behind human biology/medicine. |
Teaching Experience: From 2007-2008, I worked in probation, teaching ex-offenders Maths and English up to Level 2 (GCSE level). This year, I have been working in a College in London teaching a variety of different subjects. I have been teaching Maths and English up to Level 2. I have also taught IT up to A-Level, including some basic adult evening classes and have experience in Microsoft Office applications. The majority of my classes were GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry classes. As students found my lessons useful, I also provided GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry revision classes during the holidays. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that all students have potential, but it is up to their tutor to help them reach that potential. I prepare before every class to ensure I have the best resources to aid my students in their learning. It is essential to go into a class with a flexible attitude, as sometimes it is essential to find an alternative way of explaining a concept. Finding different ways of remembering information is useful, as everyone has a different learning style. I can also provide helpful hints and tips, especially as I remember my own experience of studies as well as my background in education. |
