About Jaroslav:
I am a 27 years old male PhD student, with double background: in Mathematics and Psychology. Maths is my big love and pillar of my career and Psychology my big interest. That's about me, since I can't think of anything more which would be of general interest at this stage.

Teaching Experience:

Almost 10 years of one-to-one tuition experience
prepared and have led math preparation course for university entrance exams
altogether 4 semesters worth of demonstrating or teaching undergraduate courses in foundations of mathematical analysis, statistics and research methodology in leading Czech Universities during my postgraduate studies.
I am happy to send my CV if you take these things seriously.

Tutoring Approach:

PFFF: patient, focused, fun, flexible

In more words:

I love teaching, since I find it really rewarding to see the student overcome the hurdles and suddenly realise that maths (or another subject) is much simpler than it seemed to be. It is tricky to try to describe one's "Approach to Tutoring", but one thing I can say is that what people usually point out when they say I make a good teacher is, that I succeed in translating the subject to language of the audience. From my subjective point of view, I just try to go where the student is with his understanding and misunderstandings and work directly with his "mental representation", instead of general truth. The fact that one-to-one tuition enables me to do this even more effectively makes me like it even more than the lecturing (well, then it is much more about establishing contact with the audience and keeping their attention).

Qualifications:
MSc Mathematical Modelling, Czech Technical University, Prague, 2001-2006
MSc Clinical Psychology, Charles University, Prague, 1999-2005
I am happy to send my CV if you take these things seriously.

About Katherine:
I am an English graduate from Durham University. I have recently completed the Teach First scheme, where I have been working in an inner city London school for 2 years. I am staying in my current school for a further term and then I am off travelling to see the world (well some of it!) I love visiting new places and am very excited about going away. I love Literature and read avidly. I am outgoing and friendly and truly have a passion for teaching. At the end of my travelling adventures I am going to work in a school in Africa. I think education is very important and want to contribute to the lives of children who don't always receive the best education.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in an all boys secondary school in Peckham for two years and am currently there for a further term. I have done a placement in a girls school as well as a sixth form college. I regularly have revision classes for my own pupils, normally on a one to one basis or in a small group. I find this very different to the usual classroom environment! (its a lot quieter!)

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy working with pupils on a one- to - one basis as you get the opportunity to see them develop and get the results they are trying so hard for. I believe that learning should be fun and therefore my planned lessons normally include some personal learning time e.g. learning about a new "cool" poet (can poetry be cool?!) or spending 5/ 10 minutes reading about what the pupil really wants to know about English. I then would prefer to work on areas my pupil is struggling with at school, be that grammar, or spelling or sentence structure etc. I will correct homework and essays etc with notes and suggestions, but very rarely set tutoring homework.

Qualifications:
Qualified Teaching Status (passed with Very Good)
BA English and Education 2.1 (Durham university)
A-levels in English, History, French and Performance Studies
