About Fatima:
I am a qualified Doctor of Medicine, and have worked as a manager in a local firm where my role was to teach employees english and the basic skills required for everyday living and work.

I am married and am currently available to teach during the week as well as weekends.

Teaching Experience:

I have previous experience in teaching children from the ages of 6 to 18 years of age. I have also been involved in teaching english and other skills to adults too.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to allow children the space to learn. I will initially go over a topic with the child online or at home and then set them certain tasks or questions to judge how much they have understood. after this we will go over the subject again, but this time i let the child explain things so i know they have full comprehension of the subject.

I do not pressurise the child but do set targets and give incentives to learn as we go along.

About Helen:
I am 23 years old, recently having completed an MSc in Environmental Management. Previously, my first degree was a BSc in Molecular Biology. I am currently undertaking unpaid work for an environmental charity, BTCV. It is important to me to do something which I feel is worthwhile. This is why I have chosen to enter an environmental career path, and believe tutoring would be rewarding part-time experience for me, as well as valuable financial assistance.

Teaching Experience:

I have no specific teaching qualifications, however I do have experience of looking after children. I spent the summer of 2004 looking after 2 children (primary school age) full-time. I was also looked after by a nanny when I was younger, and as I grew older, I helped out a lot with the younger children. In my current position with BTCV, I am working with volunteers who are mostly adults with learning difficulties or mental health problems. I supervise and hand out tasks on an allotment, and teach them basic horticultural and nutritional skills.

Tutoring Approach:

Whilst I was at school, I myself had a tutor, when I felt my teacher wasn't covering exactly what was required. I think I have a suitable temperament for teaching, being a very patient and caring person.

Qualifications:
MSc Environmental Management for Conservation and Recreation
BSc Hons Molecular Biology

About Aaron:
I am primarily a music tutor offering help and support in all areas including instrument tuition for guitar, piano and drum-kit as well as classical and jazz theory. I am also qualified in a number of other subjects, the competitive rates of which are on my profile. I am a freindly, patient teacher and being 22 I have only recently left full-time education and so can empathise fully with students in all levels of education.

Teaching Experience:

I began teaching instrumental lessons at the age of 17 and have been widening the styles and ability levels that I am able to teach in the last 5 years. In the last year I have also begaun running workshops in schools in the subjects of media studies, music, drama and film studies. I have a BA Music and have also received traing in the Yamaha Method.

Tutoring Approach:

I beleive that teaching the syllabus is incredibly important for subjects which require exams and coursework, particualrly academic subjects. When I teach music I encourage the student to consider his/her strengths and weaknesses and tailor a method of teaching designed to work alongside the student which may or may not be similar to conventional classical approaches, depending on the needs of the student. Although my approachs to teaching different subjects vary, the objective is to help the student acheive their goal in a freindly, supportive and encouraging environment. This may be acheiving an A in GCSE maths, attainign grade 5 piano or simply to further the students own understanding of the subject. If the student has a clear idea of what it is they want to acheive, I will help them realise that.

Qualifications:
BA Music with Digital Arts Practices - 2:1
AS Media Studies - B
GCSE Maths - A
GCSE SCience - B

About Chris:
I am 23 years old and have spent the summer as an exam invigilator at Queen's Park High School Chester. I am looking at going into teching next year and I feel that one-on-one tuition will give me a valuable insight and help to prepare me well for the world of teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have three younger brothers and have helped (and still do) them to achieve their full potential in examinations. I have helped them to pass the 11-plus exam and achieve entry to Wirral Grammar School for Boys. I have also helped two of them with their G.C.S.E's and am currently helping Mark in preparing his final year dissertation.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to create a blanace between a relaxed working environment and a studious approach. I believe that is vital to help the student understand the concepts and methods of how to prepare and sit examinations rather than simply presenting them with fact and figures. My aim is not just to provide students with the specific information needed for an exam but to provide them with the skills needed for sitting any academic exams.

Qualifications:
Ba (Hons) History
4 A-Levels (History, Business Studies, Biology and General Studies)
10 G.C.S.E's (A-B), AS Level in Critical Thinking

About Alice:
Hi,
I am a recent graduate from UCL with a BA in French and French Literature. I am also qualified to tutor (and am passionate about!) History (to GCSE), English and Art (to A-level). I have several years experience working as either a personal tutor or class assistant, including some time spent working with children with mental disabilities. I am fluent in French and have some formal music training.

Teaching Experience:

I began tutoring full-time by giving after school support to children of 4-12 years old, helping them with their homework, handwriting, reading practice and music practice. I've also volunteered as a class assistant for many years, working with kids from kindergarten to year 7 level. As a prefect in year 12, I was required to regularly cover after school activities for the younger years (in this case, ages 13-17), again providing support for their studies, an experience which has taught me to be flexible and ready for questions!

Tutoring Approach:

I've always enjoyed helping children learn regardless of their level or approach. My different experiences combined have given me the confidence to deal with needs of the individual and the demands of the subject matter. I try always to foster a positive attitude to a subject, to encourage the tutee to find their strengths, but also to do their best and take pride in their work, whatever it may be. I believe that a good tutor provides the tutee with the extra confidence and the tools they need to reach their goals.

Qualifications:
BA French
