About Ruth:
I am an experienced tutor of English and Psychology, working on a private basis and for several national tutoring agencies.
A recent testimonial (January 2008) from the parents of one of my GCSE students says 'Since September our daughter with Ruth's tutoring, has achieved a grade B in her mock GCSE exam. A wonderful achievement as our daughter usually got grade E.'
I really enjoy tutoring and seeing my students' progress. I am happy to travel to areas such as Oxted, Carshalton, Wallington, Purley, South of Croydon etc. Please do enquire if you want to check if I cover your area. I have a CRB check and also professional indemnity insurance.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for about 5 years now, have tutored many hours of Key Stage 3 English, GCSE English and AS and A2 level Psychology. I not only work with children who are already achieving quite well at school, but also I have experience of working with children with ADHD, mild autism and learning difficulties and 'looked after' children.

Tutoring Approach:

I build rapport very quickly with my students by treating them as individuals. Apart from the actual subject teaching, helping to build confidence is usually one of the most important things I can do as a tutor, and I am able to do this by taking an individual approach with each student (although I use a little humour with them all). My students' say that the hour of tuition goes very quickly, and this is because we are engaged in the work and they can see their own progress.

Qualifications:
English O-Level and A-Level
BSc Psychology
MSc Psychology
