About Michelle:
Hello, my name is Michelle Fitton and I am a Year 6 teacher based in Leicestershire. I qualified in Summer 2007 after completing my teacher training. I have a BA (Hons) Degree in English & Business Studies, in which I achieved a 2:1. I have a full CRB check and references upon request.

Teaching Experience:

Qualified: Summer 2007
Year 6 Teacher (started September 2007

Completed placements in Year 1; Year 3/4 and Year 5/6

Tutoring Approach:

My classroom is a positive learning environment where children feel safe and at ease; they aren't afraid to ask for help or clarification when they don't understand. I feel I can achieve this also, through becoming a tutor. Every student is different, that means the approach to each student is also different. Depending on their ability, I always make a detailed assessment of all students to know where their weak points are and then we tackle these together.

I am happy to tutor children at their homes however this is subject to location. An additional cost for petrol/travelling may be necessary. (Maximum 5 per 10miles).
I also offer a.m. tutoring (before school hours) 7am - 8am.

Qualifications:
Primary QTS
BA (Hons) English & Business Studies
2 A-Levels & 2 AS Levels Grade A-C
9 GCSEs Grade A*-B (Science: C)

About Marc:
I have just graduated with a Bachelors degree in International Politics and Intelligence studies. I am currently undertaking a Masters degree in International Law, due for completion in July 2009. Aside from my academic life, I am the musical director at a local church and enjoy rock climbing and snowboarding.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught students up to GCSE level in Maths, Science, Politics and French. I have also participated in peer mentoring schemes whilst at university in order to assist my academic peers in formulating their dissertation theses.

Tutoring Approach:

Identify basic weaknesses which may serve as a barrier when addressing more complex problems. Ensure a sound and coherent knowledge base, and encourage students to exercise initiative and logic to use what they know to address what they do not. In all cases, examine multiple solutions to problems to remove demarcation points in the context of wider subject knowledge.

Batchelor of Political Science and Economics (BscEcon) Hons
A-Levels in Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics

About Samanta:
I would call myself a facilitator instead of a teacher and I experiment with various pedagogies in order to facilitate the learning of a student. Given that I have taught in various schools for the past ten years I am experienced to deal with Special Education Needs pupils, pupils whose first language is not English (EAL), average pupils and also gifted and talented. As a facilitator I know how to bring up the best in each pupil in order to promote his or her learning. I also work closely with the National Curriculum in order to ensure that my students improve not only their writing skills but also speaking and listening ones. I am acquainted with the AQA, OCR, EdExcel and Welsh examination boards across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. Given that I have prepared students for their SATs, GCSE, AS and A levels exams for many years, I use assessment criteria to raise academic standards. When I tutor someone I provide all the resources, give on going extra supports (examples, emails and phone)

Teaching Experience:

I have taught is several schools (comprehensive, academy, RC,..) I am able to adapt myself with different students coming from different school backgrounds.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is unique. My role as a tutor or rather as a facilitator is to ensure that the child is progressing. I usually set weekly targets and review them. I am also keen to liaise with the parents so that we both can work closely to raise the standards of the child.
As a tutor I believe that homework is very important because it consolidate the learning of the students. As a tutor I provide all the resources to my pupils.
